Great video as always 👏🏻 Gotta love copper 🥰 I hope we don’t get a lot of heat waves this summer…I’m already done with it and summer has just begun! 🥵 Cheers from Den Haag 😄
Looked good. Needs a gauge. Be careful melting in the heat, take breaks, drink plenty. I got a heat stroke last year doing what you just did. Great video.
That was some cool copper melting and pours, yes I wouldn't of liked to of been smelting copper in a heatwave, did you put the heat brick in the bottom of the furnace?I've recently purchased a 6kg vevor furnace and I got a circular heat brick am assuming it goes in the bottom of the furnace to protect the crucible cracking, great 👍 video my friend 👍
But what do you do with the copper ingots? most scrap yards will not buy them as they can't identify what's in the ingots, could be brazery, lead inclusions or anything not copper etc
I sell them online. I have “proof” that they are 99,99% pure copper from the video’s. I didn’t go to the scrapyard with it yet, but they can cut it open to see if it’s legit or not. But then I sell at scrap value, which isn’t much..
@@SJWCASTING Yes but a video is not a metal analysis, it's just visual of some ingots, scrap yards in UK will not touch backyard foundry ingots as they don't know the composition and also where the original scrap was from(EG stolen railway signal cable) and if they did buy them you will just a get a 'mixed scrap' price, so not worth the propane.
@Gazr965 I know, but for me it’s easier to sell to people that way. It has more credibility of some sort. I know why scrapyards don’t want to take it. It’s the same with steel pipes, they always check if somebody didn’t weld it shut and put sand in it. To gain weight.. And that’s also why I sell them online, to get a better price😉.
I'd like some suggestions. I want to melt some basic metals like copper, brass, aluminium, etc but i also wanna forge. I am deciding whether to buy a gas one ot an electric one. Gas seems to heat up faster and better but you need to get refractory cement for this one. Their prices are similar, but I'm leaning towards gas as electric seems to take a while to hear up. What are your thoughts?
In my honest opinion, go for the gas one. That will melt copper and brass waaaay quicker. An electric furnace is good, but when the coils are bust, you’ll need to replace them/buy new furnace. You can find refactory cement almost everywhere on the internet 😉. I have both but I always use my gas furnaces😅
Refractory Cement is a heat-resistant material designed to line fireboxes and withstand very hot environments (2,000-3,000*F) such as firebox linings, forges, kilns, ovens, incinerators, crematoriums, and other high temperature equipment
@@SJWCASTING Alright thank you. Apparently they don't give out refractory cement anymore when they send it to you so I may not use it (It's hard to find online and expensive, also not super necessary) but I think I have to purchase a different regulator as gas bottles are different in Australia.
@FireTrye no problem. On Amazon you could find some. I use it so the fibers of the Kaowool don’t end up in my lungs😉. That way the isolation is protected and that the main reason I use it😉. That can be possible, but you can purchase that in every hardware store I think 😉.
Refactory cement but it was included. Just mortar that can take some heat 😉. You mean pliers and stuff? I just made them myself or you could find them on Amazon, Etsy..
Hi, interesting video, I would like to know how long does it take to cast bronze? Are you happy with the VEVOR oven? because I would like to buy it too. Thank you
Thank you! And thank you for watching!! Not that long. Bronze is a lot of copper so it should take about 10-15 minutes.. yes I am, but I lost a rubber to connect the gas so I can’t use it for the moment😅. Looking for a new rubber.

I was quite impressed when i recieved mine , though i did not think the tongs were safe for lifting & pouring molten metal , easy to make proper ones for job . First firing the lid warped badly & the flame keeps burning back inside mixer tube despite full bottle ,
No, you should make lifting and pouring tongs yourself. It’s waaaaaaay safer! Mine did warp too, but it also did it on the devil forge so😅. Is the tube flush with the inside of the furnace?
Sorted cheers 👍. The hole in the body of the furnace was much smaller than the end of the burner so partly blocking holes . The burner just needed to go in to the furnace a little further , too far & the flame would not stay stable . A few mins filing & the jobs a good one , thanks , great to swap ideas on here
What size molds were you using? Graphite #1 & #2? Also, so with a 6kg Crucible you can only melt up to 13lbs of material at a time correct? I haven't used my Forge yet as I just got it Dec 25th. Trying to learn as much as possible 1st.
I used the crucible that was included. I think it was a 6🤔. But #6 means 6lbs of aluminium it can hold. Copper is denser so it could hold more then 6lbs, how much exactly I don’t know for sure. The best way is to test it yourself 😁. Be careful, be prepared, preheat, take precautions and you’ll be fine!
Is it safe to work in your shorts like that? I'd be worried about metal splatter when pouring... Then again, I also might just work in my shorts too if it was during the middle of summer here in Arizona 😅
How hot do you can get the copper? Do you have insulated it enough? Is there heat that can escape? Did you install the inlet correctly, not to far in or out? Do you have enough air inlet?
@@SJWCASTING it is straight out of the box. I did not do any modifications to the insulation. It is all put together the correct way. What psi do you run when you melt?
You can melt quite a bit with 11Kg of propane. It’s been a while since I’ve melted a bunch of copper but I think you should easily do over 20kg of copper.
I’m giving this video a thumbs down because instead of speaking, you wrote everything out so that people had to read it. trying to watch a video with a review not a video with a bunch of reading

That’s a good looking furnace and an awesome job in the melt. The bars look great. The bars look great, awesome pour brother 👍

Aww, it's a cute lil furnace! And that got hot pretty fast. Nice work!
