      FYI they already prepared a huge air bag/air cushion below the flat right under the windows. So even if the person jumps before they breached the house, the person will land on the air cushion. You can google it. It happened before at Yishun on September 30 , 2020.

    Alot of people misunderstood this demo
    1) This is the context the personal inside is hostile, armed and/or possible holding hostage.
    If the negotiator deem the personal in the room have high risk of suicide, SDCF rescue team (the one pumping the air bag) will be activated instead of the breach team.
    There is a brief moment before the breach team arrive is that the negotiator onsite will call the Ops team if the situation escalated and that depends on his judgement call.
    2) Why not stealth unlock? (aka lockpick)
    Which is more fearful and will cause panic in the room?
    Lockpicking or chain saw + door ram? This is the last chance for the personal inside to surrender unconditionally before raiding into the room.
    Once the raid begins, it's no point of return, they will use all means to take you down.
    3) Such loud noise, the person in the room already run/jump out of window.
    Provided if the context this person is at level 2/3. Anything higher, you try jump and see if you will break any ankle.
    Even if it's low level, the police have the whole area cordon off. No one can come in or out in as well.

    • @GnomeChildd
      @GnomeChildd 3 ปีที่แล้ว +24

      If it is in a hostile situation, wouldn't the sawing cause the perpetrator to panic and put the hostage in an even more dangerous situation?

    • @tomtan2146
      @tomtan2146 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Wow seems like you are an expert!

    • @phantomsea8987
      @phantomsea8987 3 ปีที่แล้ว +20

      @@GnomeChildd That's why it all depends on the situation. Most of the time people who held hostage wants a way out until demand it met.
      If base on the most logical way, they will try to reason the hostile personal to release the hostage before executing this move.
      Take terrorist as an example, they only kill to either:
      1) To sent a message (9/11 is a very known example)
      2) Have a demand and kill until demand is met (So to put pressure on the police and negotiator so it becomes a game of who give in first)
      Remember, door is not the only entrance, the window can be use as an entry point as well.
      If we take a normal drug dealer being cornered, what is their reason of holding a hostage?
      Not to get arrest by threatening the police because they know a heavy sentence is behind and waiting for them, worse of worse, death penalty.
      By killing their hostage, they lose the leverage of asking for demand and yes if the chainsaw starts cutting, he know it's the end but that will led to my next point.
      The next point being unless the hostile personal is really good in working under pressure and calculative then sure, the Police will have the shorter end of the stick but most people aren't able to remain calm under this type pressure because your life is at stake. The more you kill the more, the count will be on you. It's easy to talk about killing people but to actually take another person life takes a lot of courage to do it and if it isn't part of your plan because we all know what is waiting for us after that. That's why sociopath and psychopath have no issue in doing this because one is just hot-headed then their remorse just slowly sink in after everything is over and another is just calculative in respective order.
      I believe the Police will have ways to de-escalate the issue as well and I'm not fully trained and equip to deal with this situation as well.
      I'm just speaking of logical and understand of how people behaves in situation. Of course, I'm the person will always finds a reason of everything (and it's not healthy) because that's how things keeps me excited in life
      One last thing before I end, theoretically and practically are very different thing and this goes same to control environment and live situation.

    Do note this method is usually used in a last resort when there is a risk the inhabitants could harm himself or his hostage or attack whoever is opening the door. usually in a drug raid or maybe someone wielding a chopper and waving at the police outside.. so a person squatting down trying to pick the lock could be dangerous..
    while if they use a power saw, the person inside may be afraid to open the wooden door to confront a power saw cutting at his metal gate..

If its a kidnap case the procedure could be different, most likely swat would be called in and explosive breaching charges would be used. Even if the most aggressive breaching measures are used, there's still no guarantee the hostages would be safe. Police are not superman, they are just human trying to fight crime.

      @Hanse Rickenbacker Yep, nothing is guaranteed. Hostages may already be dead before police are there. And there are many case where negotiation breaks down and the kidnappers massacre the hostages before anyone could even do anything. But still, its always better than not trying. Why the cause of damage ,when a locksmith could be called upon to unlock both the gate & lock??

    • @lingth
      @lingth 3 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Because in a violent situation, or when the inhabitants is a drug dealer or could be armed.. the lockpicker can be in a dangerous situation.. and also the police will have to engage a civilian (aka lockpicker to do the task)

    • @fuwafuwa5581

      If it is a hikikomori, nobody will care. But if the friends or family members of the hikikomori is able to provide evidence or prove that he/she is harming their life by being a hikikomori then yes the police will come and knock down the place to save your life. So if you don't want them to do that then you better be able to take care of yourself.
