@@Uriel554Nah, the R8 had an impact on a generation. It was a pop-cultural icon starring in movies like Iron Man and it’s known as Tony Stark’s definitive ride! Also was an excellent drivers car that captured many hearts of young petrolheads at the time (including mine and it still does) and the first generation still gets the hearts fluttering. The design style, the driving experience, the impact it had, etc. all tell me that many cared about it. Audi just let it dry towards the end of the 2nd generation by milking it, when they should’ve kept it as a rival to the 911 and progressively updating it.

@@Kumar-bg6nr I think the more unfortunate issue is that EVs are outperforming ICE supercars. While the batteries are heavy, electric motors have incredible power and instant power delivery. In the future, I can see PHEV supercars with extremely powerful electric motors with tiny batteries and engines that only serve as generators being the norm. The packaging would be significantly lighter than a pure EV with a huge battery.
@Qwertylol I read a comment once that said car enthusiasts are really "noise enthusiasts." As much as I love the sound of a screaming V10, you're ascribing the soul of a car to its sound. The whole experience isn't lost in an EV, and it has its own "soul" in its unique driving dynamics.
I can already reminds me as a child watching Iron Man 2 and seeing this R8 Spyder V10 and I still love this car even among the huge choice of modern supercars nowadays because this Audi just hits different So this was a great tribute and goodbye to a great dream car

Ever since Iron Man 3, i fell in love with this car, one of my favourites, I've always dreamt of putting my own homemade 1.6l, 90° v6 f1 engine with solid state battery pack with 800v. A truly touching video, thanks a ton, Audi. Nostalgia rules!

Damn man that really sux to see such an iconic car go. Funny enough if you pay attention to Iron Man in all of the marvel movies he has been in, most times he’s driving an Audi R8 of some spec. With some exemptions of course. Crazy thing is he dies in endgame, and that movie released around the same time Audi announced they aren’t making the R8 anymore, just a crazy coincidence.
This is some top notch production quality right here, the cinematography, the editing, the suspense, the rhythm, the sound editing, the car itself...it is just mind blowing. Shout out to the team! Absolutely charming.
When I was 4 years old, I watched a lot of POV drives of the 1st gen R8, The sound of the V8, V10, and the click of the gated manual is just pure eargasm. It's where I started getting in love with cars and getting more knowledge about these incredible machines. Definitely my first-ever dream car. Here I am currently 14, very disappointed that it's gone. This car is absolutely legendary, I'm definitely gonna miss these amazing beasts, long live the R8!

Car companies that insist on electric-only vehicles line-ups will have a bumpy road ahead. Consumers want choice, not mandates. Killing off cars such as this only shows that manufactures care more about their ESG points than their customers. Just to be clear electric cars may have a place in the future, but end to end they are not currently that eco-friendly, not practical/convenient for those trips or payload hauls. Reliable and widely available supporting infrastructure needs to be proven and in place before attempting to corral consumers into a new technology. When solar is more efficient and less costly, battery materials are less toxic to produce and dispose of, the grid switches to nuclear instead of gas/coal, and charge times are reduced closer to time it takes to pump gas, then it's go time. Until then, hybrids are a great interim option. R8 - great car, foolish death sentence.
I hope this doesn’t spell the end of Audi’s involvement in motorsport. Honestly; with hearing you guys pull out of LMDh, pulling out of GT racing, maybe pulling out of TC racing, and now potentially pulling out of F1? It’s disheartening, really. Imagine if Audi released another R8 as the LAST last R8 called the "MFG Edition" based on the Audi R8 driven by Yuudai Sakamoto in the anime "MF Ghost". The car will be colored Vegas Yellow with 610HP, Gold No.5 Decal like in the Anime and even an optional Japanese number plate that reads "2-001" just like in the Anime while it also has a picture of the R8 in the Anime and Manga in the Brochure of the MFG Edititon and while also having the signature of Toru Sakurai (voice of Yuudai) on the dashboard. Ofcourse the 2023 R8 will have this special edition but it will be still cool tho imo.

R8 was my dream car ever since I saw it for the first time, thank you so much Audi for making this amazing machine! Now I'm a proud owner of a gen 1 R8 myself, though can't drive as good as the amazing drivers you found for this video.

I’ll never forget picking up Motorsport 3 as a kid and staring at the R8 on the cover the whole ride home.
