Kinda of my story. Lived on a corner on a cul de sac and the neighbor had a brand new 911T Targa. I would be watering my parents' lawn and the car would be making the turn and the engine would be downshifting. The most awesome sound I ever heard. That was 1968 and I was 11. Up to that time, my dream car was the Mustang Boss 302. Two years later, the movie Le Mans comes out. I remember getting a paper model of the 917 from the local Gulf gas station. I was hooked. As soon as I was 18, I marched myself into my local Porsche dealer and bought me a brand new 914 in 1975 (had gone to a technical high school and was working at Hughes Aircraft as an electronic technician since I was 17). The memories of me in the car when I first got the keys is etched in my memory like it was yesterday. I joined the local Porsche Owners Club (still in existence to this day) and would race the car at Riverside International Raceway and Ontario Motor Speedway. Otis Chandler, the publisher and owner of the Los Angeles Times, had bought a Steve McQueen 917 and would bring it to the track. Those were the glory days. In some ways, when I got the 914, it was more impressive than when I finally got my 911 (997) even though when you hit the throttle of the 997, that engine sound is awesome, different from the 1968 911, but still awesome. At Riverside, I had no fears and topped out the car at 135mph. With the 997, its top speed is 177mph, but could not go any faster than 145mph because the fear of crashing kept me from going faster, even though the car was 100 times more stable than the 914.
It's the first time I cried watching a film. As a racer myself this shows some light on the true dedication & passion we put ourselves through for a 'sport'. This video touches my inner space. I lost my girlfriend because of my car. Passion to driving and racing was stronger than love. That hurts... However I am in the place where I wanted to be just like last scene.
I think of it like this…my Porshe will never leave me or find a new lover…and we can fly!!!! 🚀🏎🔥🔥🔥 In my experience, you can find someone who hates your racing or who embraces your dreams because they have that same fire and passion and they totally,100% GET IT. I know which man id want. Sometimes we sacrifice our dreams for love and wake up an empty shell of ourselves, miserable and with our fire put out. I think about love. Does someone that is fine having that happen to you in love? I don’t think so. I know it’s sad and your heart may be broken. I know mine still is because I loved him with everything I had. At the same time, I’m at the track flying with my heart on fire and he’s already with someone else…didn’t love me so much after all. You give in and give all of it up and they still won’t be happy. Find your own happiness and then find someone that wants nothing but to see you on fire and living the dream (and do the same for her!). Let your lover be free to really live and you’ll find a love like nothing you’ve ever imagined possible. I’m not saying it’s not on 4 wheels like mine tho 😂🏎🔥🔥🔥 I’m sorry for your loss I hope in time you’ll find yourself in a place of peace and you’ll be happy in your car still 😉
Anyone who has a chance to drive a competitive Kart should take advantage of it. The amount of power the 2 stroke motors produce is mind boggling the first time.

Just seeing this today. Quite possibly the best short I've ever seen. The story telling is so subtle, clear, deep and well written. The brilliance in this is that I do not believe this to be a motor film at all. It is a film that expresses what we go through in life; the ups & downs, the sorrow of defeat, the agony of hardships, the struggle & perseverance to see something through, pure elation of victory - not of a race; but of a life full of passion. For a brief moment before the start of the race the protagonist was already the biggest winner. Cheers!
I played Gran Turismo as a kid. Was taken to an endurance race at the nordschleife by a friend who's parents were a little into motorsports. The sound, the roaring engines. I swore to be on the other side of the fence one day. As Driver. And here I am.. having a licence, being my own sponsor after so many years. Racing at the 24h of Nürburgring next year if all races towards it work out this season. I never raced karts or formel. I just had passion and too many hours with my logitech steering wheel. Last race we even made it to the podium.. and this movie made me shed a tear because it has so mich emotion to reach this goal. Well done.. and somewhat true. P.S.: all the comments about the money Motorsports needs to work. Yup, thats true. Its a pitty this isnt more affordable. 😅
Motorsport evokes emotion not everyone is capable of feeling. This video makes it just a bit easier for people to understand why a machine can move our heart in ways that cannot be expressed in words. Thank you for this!
Great movie and thank you. Ironically, I met my now wife and mum of our 2 great kids the very day I picked up my 964. She said the attraction had absolutely nothing to do with the car... and I really believe her... ;-)
The quality of SFX and the amount of efforts in matching music with visual mood is that small, non obvious thing, that makes this incredible filing of being in the place of main character and feeling everything with your own heart.... Best film I saw in last few years for sure. Great job!
Porsche should be eternally grateful to this young man for the incredible restoration and transformation work he did to that old barn find it all started with.
It’s absolutely amazing how a video can make you cry several times. I am going through a thought phase right now. I put everything I have in motorsports. This videos shows just why I do it! Always keep going no matter what happens. Thank you for this video! It motivates me and keeps me going.
This was amazing! I loved every second of it! You were able to achieve so much in a such short run time, and it's a true testament to your skills as a story teller.
when I was incredibly young. many years before I could drive. I remember seeing a horrific racing accident on TV and the first thing I thought even at that young age was. "That man had no respect for that machine". A car is a machine a cold emotionless machine. It is important to remember that and to remember that its power is to be respected. I never forgot that and my love for racing just kept growing.
Always wanted to track my car but never really had the means or time. Finally got a chance to start last year. This short film just encouraged me to keep the kid inside me alive. Thank you and well done!
This has to be one of the best videos on the internet.. Awesome camera work, post processing, script, music, actors, vehicles.. I can say I never felt so many emotions just by watching a youtube video. Great job!

I've got goosebumps! This movie is so well done, that you even must not love racing to love this film. At the End I was missing a much powerful engine sound. Thanks A lot!
i have to say this clip made me believe in myself in iracing... made me look at my progression in simracing, all my mistakes, my stupid actions, all cars i drove after all this time... there's something important here to declair: if u have a passion, something that makes you who you are, just don't leave it for somethin vain...

How can one not be romantic about motor sport , great work @DEFY Productions
Thank you 🙏
Motorsport evokes emotion not everyone is capable of feeling. This video makes it just a bit easier for people to understand why a machine can move our heart in ways that cannot be expressed in words. Thank you for this!
Agreed! Thank you!
Not even a single word
and still get all the emotions!!!
this is a masterpiece..
Great movie and thank you. Ironically, I met my now wife and mum of our 2 great kids the very day I picked up my 964. She said the attraction had absolutely nothing to do with the car... and I really believe her... ;-)
Always admirable Porsche, their build quality, performance and beautiful cars, make them special. Its true Porsche is an obsession ❤🧡💛💚💙💜🤎💯💥
How have I only just found this video!! Amazing
This felt like a knife through my chest.
It's the live I've been dreaming for more than a decade and never managed to turn into reality.
@Sawyer Mickelson
You're right ! 👍
I always say that we can only be sure we failed completely on something if we stop trying.
The quality of SFX and the amount of efforts in matching music with visual mood is that small, non obvious thing, that makes this incredible filing of being in the place of main character and feeling everything with your own heart.... Best film I saw in last few years for sure. Great job!
Only one thing taught us from this entertainment, that "One Day Will Come Soon"
Porsche should be eternally grateful to this young man for the incredible restoration and transformation work he did to that old barn find it all started with.
Driving a race car feels like screaming out at the world in a language only a few understand and feel. Excellent short film 👏
Exactly! Thank you for watching 😊
I thought this was a ad from Porsche until I saw the comments damn. An absolute masterpiece
Thanks so much, I appreciate it!
I came to see this again. This is really art. I'm getting goosebumps.
Thanks for watching and we are glad you enjoyed it!
It’s absolutely amazing how a video can make you cry several times.
I am going through a thought phase right now. I put everything I have in motorsports.
This videos shows just why I do it! Always keep going no matter what happens.
Thank you for this video! It motivates me and keeps me going.
Pursue your dream man! I have this dream too but... I don't have any opportunities right now, so if there's any hope for you, I hope you get it. 🔥
When I was a kid, these are my dreams too~~
RIGHT NOW STILL ITS' MY DREAMS~~
this has got to be one of the best short films ive ever come across, hope porsche sees this.
Thank you very much, I’m glad you enjoyed it
This was amazing! I loved every second of it! You were able to achieve so much in a such short run time, and it's a true testament to your skills as a story teller.
Thanks James! I appreciate it and glad you like it!
The go kart shot at 1:00 is incredibly beautiful
Thanks!
This kid looks like max verstappen .
So true
😢 that was truly beautiful and I'm going to watch it again 😢.
Thanks for watching! Glad you are enjoying it
@@DEFYstudio Keep them coming
when I was incredibly young. many years before I could drive. I remember seeing a horrific racing accident on TV and the first thing I thought even at that young age was. "That man had no respect for that machine". A car is a machine a cold emotionless machine. It is important to remember that and to remember that its power is to be respected. I never forgot that and my love for racing just kept growing.
This is a masterpiece! the script, cinematography, sound design, music and color grade all this combination and the result is amazing congratulations!
Thank you so much 😊
Always wanted to track my car but never really had the means or time. Finally got a chance to start last year. This short film just encouraged me to keep the kid inside me alive. Thank you and well done!
Happy to hear this! Thanks so much
That's why some people say life is a ride
This anamorphic lens feeling fits perfectly this film!
Glad you noticed we shot on anamorphic!
this makes me think "motorsport it's more than watching cars" and damn it's true
This has to be one of the best videos on the internet.. Awesome camera work, post processing, script, music, actors, vehicles.. I can say I never felt so many emotions just by watching a youtube video. Great job!
Thank you, I appreciate the kind words!
This is excellent! Porsche automobiles, good music, and very well done cinematography.
Thanks a lot!
This was f'ing amazing. Great story telling through visuals and no script. Maybe one of the best Porsche videos I've seen. Thanks for sharing.
I'm five years late to the party, but wow, this is still a masterpiece even in 2024. Great work, and thank you for sharing it with us!
I watch this at least once a month and it gets better each time
Thanks for watching, I’m glad you enjoying it 🎥
If this is official, it's the greatest car commercial ever made. If it's not, Porsche needs to hire this man.
Much appreciated! Glad you enjoyed the film 🎥
Nah man nah, this has to be the best Porsche commercial ever... And now I'm watching this on repeat.... You guys are literally Top tier!! ❤️
Thank you very much!
Wow this was an eye opener, the way the video makes it feel like your dreams are literally close enough to reach out and grab. It just reels you into a passionate timelapse combining emotion, memory, and imagination. Top quality work on this video!
Thank you for the kind words 😊 glad you enjoyed it!
Porsche is one of the few companies that inspire us from a young age and create lifelong customers and enthusiasts. The concept of falling in love at a young age, especially with a 911, is so true. This short film is a beautiful reminder of what makes Porsche so special. Got me a little choked up...
We feel the same way! Thanks for watching
Literally everything in this video is perfect. I was even surprised at how much the kid and the grown man look alike
Man that sure got my heart racing. So much feels, love this !!
I've got goosebumps! This movie is so well done, that you even must not love racing to love this film. At the End I was missing a much powerful engine sound. Thanks A lot!
i love how the soundeffects are prioritised over the music, it really gives it the feeling of immersion into the story! Great job!
Absolutely, glad you picked this up and that you enjoyed it!
i have to say this clip made me believe in myself in iracing... made me look at my progression in simracing, all my mistakes, my stupid actions, all cars i drove after all this time... there's something important here to declair: if u have a passion, something that makes you who you are, just don't leave it for somethin vain...
I really liked the most creative commercial, having a Porsche is a desire of every man
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed the film
2:03 Christopher Nolan and Hans Zimmer entered the garage... All jokes aside, nice job!
Truly an underrated masterpiece ❤
Thank you, much appreciated
moral of the story: all you need in life is a porsche
This is not an ad but an emotion..

Despite all the struggle and hardships life throws your way,
Follow your passion!

This should be officially promoted by Porsche. This gives me chills as I can in some part relate to that situation. Unbelievably good work ! Bringing through all the emotions without a single word .. wow ! Thank you for this ! I hope I'll see a lot more coming from you !
Thanks so much, glad you enjoyed it and definitely more coming soon 😊

Boy would it be seriously cool if talent and passion was all it took. Then I'd be a pro GT3 race driver by now. But unfortunately that not all. You also need money. Literal tons of money.
shut up ass up. stop flexing. let people enjoy this goddamn cinematic masterpiece
