Really great restauration. I love how the motor just wants to show itself in the end by turning all around. Just to show: Look how beautiful I became 😍😂
Oh I see. It looks like an older 3 HP Briggs engine from possibly the 70s or 80s? I remember my dad worked on a few of those in the past. They were all white mostly. I think this is one of your best engine restorations to date. Almost comparable to Machinery Restorer. ADDED: I went back to one of your older videos you did in the past, and you restored a 3 HP Briggs engine in that same white color.
This one is a 1981 model. and yes I did a 3hp before but I could not get it running, so I kind of had to redeem myself. The previous attempt had a bad carburetor, and I could for the life of me not get it to run with that carb. I eventually sold it to a collector, and ever since then I had to try one again. I am pretty happy with the result.
hi. I have been following your channel for a while. I love the restoration theme and I'm a fan of you. I am also doing a restoration channel and hope that you can give me some suggestions about my restoration videos. I'm really grateful.
Thank you! I watched a video and Its good, keep doing what you do! Every channel has his own way of doing things and that is what makes it great. As long as you enjoy what you do!
I dont sell any of my restorations, I just hoard everything haha. Sometimes I give things away if someone likes it a lot. I have no idea what something would cost after a restoration. To me its priceless, but to someone else it might be worth less than what it was before the restoration since it removes the patina and what what.
Great work, love watching some quality restoration. I am very new into this and have got a old B&S 3.5hp working for an old mower. Looking to find another for an old Scott Bonnar 45 I want to restore. Any idea where I can find these great motors? I don’t mind getting my hands dirty to get it running. One day it may look as good as your work.
I usually tighten it around 53 in-lb. Its not a critical point so I usually hand tighten and then a little more so it wont come loose with vibrations. The head bolts, conrod bolts and flywheel nut are the critical ones. Those have specific specifications.
Why didn't you have to gap the points or the coil ? Also why the color change from black to white 🤔 any special reason? I just want to know. You do good work.
In my experience I never had to gap them, I just keep the gap not too small, and not too big, just right. The same with the coil, I had them gapped correctly, and gapped it all the way the largest it could go, and it ran the same, no issues. Since then I never bothered with finnicky gapping specs, In my eyes its a waste of time, especially with small engines such as these.
Great looking job! Where do you get the decals from? Is it a printer program that you print them yourself, or do you have a link where you get them from?
Not a torque wrench in sight! Not one bolt torqued to specification as far as I saw! The way it was shaking no doubt something will work loose. Not good for the longevity of this excellent little motor!! A nice paint job and is very clean though.
@@AJRestoration oh ok. Thanks. Was thinking those sticker looks really smart. I have a 3hp on my 17 inch Professional cylinder mower and I use it every week and time to replace blade and rings on the mower and was thinking of giving it a restoration. I like the 2lt ice cream container😁. Glad I am not the only one using them for oil changes and parts. Great video and Nice stickers.
I have this exact same engine on a wizard tiller that has been passed down from my great grandfather. It's in need of a restoration but I can't seem to find those replacement decals. Are you making them yourself or were you able to find them somewhere?

Great job. How convenient that it rotates itself for you while it runs. The white and silver is a great color choice.
I loved it!
Great job 👍 looks like new first class Dave thanks 👍😊 love to see more Videos
nice little engine, being so kind to turn on its own
Was a nice little effect!
Looking and running.
Like brand new
I restored a 1930s B&S kickstart. Fun project. Those old B&S engine blocks are bullet proof.
Lol!!!! At the end it spun around for us to see it all out together and beautiful; that was awesome!!
Runs good. Great job! Looks nice.
Thanks 👍
Love the happy dance she did at the end!
I thought you guys will like it haha, I was like hey lets see what it does haha.
A superb job on restoring the engine. I'd love to see the rest of the mower restored. 👍😁
You and me both!
Really great restauration. I love how the motor just wants to show itself in the end by turning all around. Just to show: Look how beautiful I became 😍😂
Great job and a nice little engine and loved the victory dance of it running at the end. These old Briggs are bullet proof... I have several.👍
The valve stem/tappet interface was not measured for clearance. B&S recommends .
004" gap for the intake valve and .006" gap for the exhaust.
Beautiful restoration mister good job well done
Thank you very much!
Awesome. 100 thumbs up. Nuff said !!!
Thank you buddy!
Extraordinary work
Thank you 👍
Very nice refurbishing project. It looks so good now, it would be ashamed to use it and get it dirty again... Thumbs Up!
I plan to display it in the workshop along with the other engine restorations.
Nice finish for a small engine project.keep doing what your doing and carry on.👍👍👍😎😎😎
Thanks, will do buddy!
Awesome job. 👌
Thanks! 👍

Superb ... very enjoyable to watch 🙂
Very nice end result.
Thank you! Cheers!
Good Job👍
Turned out amazing. Well done!
Beautiful Resto. I didn’t see you set the flywheel to coil air gap to 10 thousands
I eyeball it. That gap really makes no difference at all.
Wel gedaan. Lyk en klink goed.
Baie baie dankie!
Good job
You do beautiful work! Great attention to detail. I subbed.
Welcome to the family!
OMG it self rotating is killing me 😂😂
I admire your sacrificing $100+ dollars in fuel just to demo it for us. 👍
That 5 minutes of running was more like $200 haha
Cool looks great there young man✌👍
Thank you!
@@AJRestoration you are most welcome young man 😎👍
Nice
Thanks
"Easy Spin" indeed.
Nice!!
Yes I have this same engine as well that I need to restore
I just wanted to say you did a job job on restoring it. It looks good. But I reckon it has the wrong Era Briggs and Stratton stickers
Wrong era maybe, but that is the stickers that I like :-)
@@AJRestoration I understand lol. We all have our own thing. I hope to see more Briggs and Stratton engine videos soon. They are awesome
It's doing the " hokey pokey" turning itself around
Its so happy.
@@AJRestoration ☺️☺️
great
Thank you!
Do you sell the restored engines afterwards? If so, what would one like this cost after restoration? Looks amazing!

Beautiful job. Will you continue to use this for your compressor?
That's the plan! Waiting on some compressor parts and Ill maybe make a video on it.
AJ Restorarations. Hey what is the inch pounds for the side cover on the 3hp? Thank you!

Having a hard time finding the air filter. Have a part number for it?
Great looking job! Where do you get the decals from? Is it a printer program that you print them yourself, or do you have a link where you get them from?
I had to remake them from a few sources and had them printed by a local company.

Where did you get the stickers from?
I remade them myself with photoshop and had them printed at a local small business.
