You are so lucky those ball bearings didnt go flying everywhere. Theyd have flew everywhere if it was me, lmao
Was a close call haha

Thank you! Cheers!
Such a great restoration 👏👏
Thank you very much!
Hey there smiley face! 👍
Haha this time I did not forget.
First engine I ever rebuilt was a Briggs and Stratton 3 or 3.5HP lawn mower engine in 9th grade shop class in 1968.
Stay safe
It looks like they drilled a hole right through the crankshaft in attempt to stop the pulley from rotating on the crankshaft meaning that the shaft, keyway & likely the pulley is worn.
I would've got the crankshaft repaired by a machine workshop including getting a new keyway cut into it, whoever has drilled right through the crankshaft has weakened it.
I rebuilt my 3 horsepower Briggs and Stratton lawnmower engine & I noticed that there was a knocking noise coming from underneath the lawnmower, the blade boss which the crankshaft is fitted onto had clearance between its bore & the crankshaft, the key was slightly worn as well because I could rock the blade disc backwards & forwards on the crankshaft even when the centre bolt was tight.
Instead of drilling a hole through the blade boss & tapping a thread into it to fit a grub screw I cleaned the mating surfaces & applied Loctite 620 to both surfaces before fitting the blade boss onto the crankshaft.
There was 0.1mm clearance between the blade boss & the crankshaft, that saved me $50 AUD which is how much a new blade boss costs & it would've needed a new key as well.
The blade boss was rusted on at one stage so the crankshaft may not be the same in diameter as it was when it was new !
Ek onthou ons ou Rolux petrol grassnyer met die eiste B&S 5 Hp motor dit was nog die dae in die laat 70's. Dankie vir jou videos ek volg elkeen. Veilig wees en groete.
Do you ever catch yourself watching your disassembly portions of your videos to try and remember where something goes? Or have you just done so many videos like this that you have a good system of remembering?
Yes, I do that all the time haha, every restoration I have to go back and take a peek. Even then I still get something wrong every now and then.
15.51: ta!
Is it necessary to remember which bolts go where for the cylinar head?
No, as long as its torqued correctly.
5:50 Does that trick work on motorcycle tapered flywheel shafts?
Yes it should work, just make sure its a copper hammer otherwise you will do some damage.

I was wondering why the staff wasn't turning 🤔 😅
That engine was made the same Year when I graduated high school the Air fliter looks like a style of fliter less type of carb those muffler came out easily and didn't break sometimes they can break but they came out easily for you😊 oh there is the album by van Halen called 1984 😂
Also, a book by George Orwell.
@@jimdavis6833 thanks for the info on this matter of the book that was released the same year
@@robertmailhos8159 It wasn't released the same year, it was the name of the book, 1984.
What was that that youground off in the valve?
did some light porting, it improves airflow and fuel economy and some would say performance.
@@AJRestorationoh, ok, thanks
