Legend of Mana has been my favorite game since I was 8 years old. Nearly 20 years have passed and I still think about this game. Happy to find another who loved it!

I'm hecka hype for the new switch port.
I played that game when I was 9 years old. I was born in 1991. We played it with my brother and cousin but we did not finish the game because the CD was gone. Then our relationship with my cousin was ruined because he is the reason why the Cd dissappeared. Then 15 years later we finished the game with my brother. Then there is a time a very rare chance that me, my brother and my cousin accidentally in the same place and that is the first time we had a convo to our cousin since the CD gone. We already grown ups and have kids. And we shared to him that we already finish our favorite game. And hes so very happy to know it. Thats my Legend of Mana story. Our favorite childhood game ever.
Thank you so much for talking about this game which seems to be ignored by so many. I love this game so much especially for it's soundtrack. A few other PS1 games I really love are Chrono Cross, SaGa Frontier, Suikoden, Castlevania Symphony of the Night, Arc The Lad 1-3, and Tomba 1 and 2.
I remember borrowing Legend of Mana from my best friend in Junior High/High School. It was the first digital purchase I ever made on my PSP. God I fucking love this game to hell and back.
thank you for making this video. this is also my favorite video game and i literally never knew that pearl and elazul would talk to rubens. it shocks me that im still learning new things about this game over 20 years later.
I love discovering as many party member interactions as I can. Like I know Gilbert hits on Elle, but would he hit on Sierra or Daena? I learned that Bud apparently has dialogue with Irwin even though it's actually considered a bad idea to bring him to that fight. There's so much to discover with this game!
Legend of Mana got me through a bad breakup and recovering from heroin addiction last year. Since then ive gone on to play through the rest of the Mana series and am obsessed. About to do another play through of this badboy. Making sure i do the levels in the right order this time lol
Very good man! I also used gaming to get through herion withdrawal! Its been 15 yrs sober now. My game was Resident Evil 4, and will stay with me forever now as my favorite. So I totally understand! Good luck man and stay cool👍

I didn't understand the egg catching when I was a kid XD I thought you just had to grab them from behind and I was like "Why do they keep running!?" shows how little I paid attention to Duelle :P
I love this game too. I remember when I bought it the sales clerk was thrilled to be introducing me to this beautiful game. I have been looking through the strategy guide recently, just for the artwork. Thanks to your enthusiasm, I will begin playing Legend of Mana again for the first time in about 20 years.
Just picked up the remaster, I’ve only played sword of mana should I follow guide to hit all or most of the quests or just start out with blind run? I’m not too concerned about doing every quest. Just want hardcore fans opinion of how to play fresh.
Also, I think it's so interesting how a huge part of my playthrough involved growing the fruits and documenting their effects and so on in my notebook, I was obsessed! Similar to how I was obsessed with finding all uses for all ingredients in Skyrim
I loved this game when I was younger. I think i only played through 2 or 3 times though, and didnt change up my play style enough to experience all 67 quests. I gave my copy to my younger sister years ago, and i dont think she has it anymore, but now that i know i can get it on my ps3, i may have to do that this weekend! great video, definitely gave me nostalgia!

Happiness for all! Legend of Mana remaster coming for Switch and PS4! Also, did anyone else notice the statues at 18:36 to be the heroes from Trials of Mana?
-Hears Dudbear Language- aaah, I understand you completely. Dub! also LoM is also my no.1 game of all time, hands down. It has everything I've ever wanted in an RPG.
Its number 2 in my list. I love persona 3 more but manna is my favorite game for longest. Even until now. I love the world, the music, the gameplay, the story and the characters. Its a epic game indeed
I got to say, after seeing your very thorough review on this game I remembered why I loved it, and what the other new mana games were lacking. Storytelling, interaction, weapon smithing etc. All of the above have created a whole "Manaverse" to enjoy. I can only wish that Square Enix will find a way to revive this game or the series. Ps. The Jumi arc was the best one I've played.
I just finished up my revisit playthrough after 20 years and the game has aged wonderfully! I always love using the spears and 1H Swords with my pet Chocobo, who I always name Boco haha.
I remember being excited whenever we went to rent video games, cause I ALWAYS picked Legend of Mana and Final Fantasy Tactics. Those two games were a big part of my teen years. Then game rentals died out, someone bought the store's copies before I could finish saving the money for them and I was sad. I love Legend of Mana and have played it several times over since finding a copy of it at a local game shop.
@@strain42 Yeah. Saddly I was never able to get into FF7 or FF8, I don't know why...I just never enjoyed them (even back in the day). But I played a lot of Legend of Mana, Final Fantasy Tactics, Front Mission 3, and Final Fantasy 9. The other games I had on the PS1 were wrestling games (WCW, WWF and ECW) cause I was raised by my grandparents and my grandpa was really into wrestling and got my brothers and I into it as well.
@@strain42 lol, i was only accidentally came across on your vid about legend of mana, then i was shook to see legend of mana on nintendo direct, i wish all success on this remaster on switch so one day we can have remake of this game.
I doubt I'd ever do a video SPECIFICALLY on Sword of Mana, but I've thought about doing one giant video that covers Final Fantasy Adventure, Sword of Mana, and Adventures of Mana in one go.
Not sure why youtube hadn't recommended this earlier but I'm glad it did. I absolutely love this game. Bought it when it came out and back then I had just moved from out of state so It was the only game I had at the time. I've played it many times and loved it for all the same reasons you covered in here. It makes me happy to see that my own kid loves and plays this game on his switch lite. I've let him discover it for himself and he goes back to playing it every now and then.
I wish they will make a remake for this game. It was just satisfying exploring and progressing with this game. I feel the game doesn't get enough attention.
Wow! You know you made a really pretty game when even HELL doesn't look like that bad of a place! And it's also equally cool that you can straight up talk to fallen characters there! (Weird how there doesn't seem to be a heaven though, I imagine it would have been a gorgeus!)
Gonna have to try this game again. I never really knew what was going on at the time. I do remember you telling me where to put the levels because it would make them do different things lol.
this is my favourite game too!! Played it when I was a kid and was immediately hooked by the art style, characters and soundtrack and I'm so sad there hasn't really been another game like it after all this time. I was scared they weren't going to do anything for it after the secret and trials remakes but I'm super excited for the remake!! June 24th can't come fast enough.
I don 't have time to watch, but I just wanted to say "cool choice", that and Saga Frontier 2 are beautiful games, and Legend of Mana's soundtrack is one of the best.
Its my favorite as well. I began this year, my first experience with mana was on gameboy final fantasy adventure. At the time playing it i loved it, as a lonely kid with a romantic imagination i fell in love and was captured into the world. Years later at 22 now i come to this game at a time where i have overcome trials and tribulations that have threatened to crush and destroy me. I find this game to be a part of my spiritual journey, it speaks to me in so many ways, the universe and the characters and the worlds and all such things reflect much of the reality i experience in my own world. It reminds me of experience and the pain and joy of living. It helps me. No other game has quite touched me, besides maybe darksouls, nier autamata/replicant, FF6, Ico, Shadows of the colossus, SH2, Earthbound, And yet, Legend of Mana calls for some greater spiritual religious like experience in my life. Its like a dream i never want to wake from, heaven. I believe the greatest games do many things to us, change us and help us grow into who we are, remind us of what we have fallen hopeless of and how to have hope again, challenge us to have peace with one another, inspire us to enjoy life and follow our hearts, etc. Etc. this one may be the quintessence of such a video game experience in my life.
Dude I just got this recommended and it's crazy that you did this review really close to when I did my own review of this game lol. I loved this game a lot, and it's probably one of my favorite Mana games so far. The joke of you speaking Dudbear gave me a good laugh because I did a joke about that too. I actually never knew that everyone could die in the Faerie arc, that's crazy. Actually I learned about a bunch of new things from this video, and it's making me want to go for a more complete run next time. Great video man :) Would like to hear your thoughts on the other Mana games. Duda Duba Dubba Dub?
My uncle bought me this game when I was like 9. I’m 29 now. He found it at a random pawn shop in a small town wrapped in a napkin. For a dollar. I was like cool whatever. Started playing it with my brother and spent like weeks playing it every day after school and falling more and more in love. The music the art the stories EVERYTHING. this game is a work of art. Been my favorite game ever since! Can’t wait for the remaster!
There's a super awesome looking collector's edition in Japan that supposedly has English support and I may just have to import that one for myself...and then buy it digitally on another console to show my support XD
Thanks for making this - really enjoyed it. I still remember the ending of the jumi storyline. It's really quite poignant. I think this is probably one of my favourite games of all time as well. My only complain is that the battle actions could be a bit smoother, but that's nitpicking since I guess the timing in those actions are typical for Seiken Densetsu games.
just gonna hand you this dub my good sir, legend of mana is the first game i ever played when i was a kid and it's still my favorite, and now we get to play it with that gorgeous remastered soundtrack i'm so hyped
Hey somebody besides me played this game😅 It's a shame a few things got lost in translation but it's still great. Thanks for the review before bed mate😅
You got my interest in the game I already hade it in my vita but never got around to play it much after this review I went and bought a physical copy at such a good price even kept it's manual but might still play the vita version first.
The physical copy I had in this video is my original copy from 2000, but sadly I lost the manual a long time ago. I've been trying to find a replacement.
This is absolutely one of my favorite games. I am extremely upset that the remaster is not going to be available on XBox. I can play it on my PS2, but I want that remaster!!
Great video Strain! I know that "negative videos" draw in the views but I feel that it is far more satisfying to watch a video where the creator is just expressive positivity and good vibes and this was a joy to watch. (And I can tell this was an important video to you because you wore the shirt that your avatar wears. XD) Also I'm proud of you for pronouncing Mana the way God intended. When I hear hear pearl I think of the Black Pearl from Pirates of the Carrabian. Yeah this looks like a pretty cool game with lots of little things, and I think it's those little things that can elevate a game to that level and the killer sound track. I would love to play this game someday because of all the praise you heaped on to it. once again fantastic video and I hope you have a marvelous day.
I agree. Some of my favorite videos of all time are when creators are just like "This is one of my favorite games of all time." even if I have no interest in the game, and in some cases outright dislike the game, it's wonderful to see that type of passion and positivity on screen.
When Collection was announced: There's a Trials of Mana? When Legend was announced: THERE'S A LEGEND OF MANA?! When watching this video: IT'S PRONOUNCED MANA?!?!
I honestly don't think the pronunciation matters too much. Even the games can't seem to get it right. Dawn of Mana on the PS2 says it one way while Trials of Mana says it another XD
I really need to play this again I hope it gets at least a rerelease in the future. Also I do want to hear about Dawn of mana I saw a trailer of that on TV when i was a kid and always remember it as "that game with a plant sword thing"
Oh, I lost my freakin' mind during that Direct. Soon as I saw the house and Fa'Diel, I was SCREAMING. I very rarely scream at any announcements, no matter how excited I am, but I absolutely lost it at this. The remaster looks amazing, and I'm so psyched!

No other game has quite touched me, besides maybe darksouls, nier autamata/replicant, FF6, Ico, Shadows of the colossus, SH2, Earthbound,
And yet, Legend of Mana calls for some greater spiritual religious like experience in my life.
Suikoden and Legend of Mana are my fave rpg games. So charming and fun.
Legend of Mana - is my favorite videogame.
I'm so glad to see people sharing their own stories with this game. I'm super psyched for the remaster too!
Yay Legend of Mana love! Awesome to see this :)
Glad you liked it! I'm always happy to spread love for this game! It totally deserves it!
Legend of Mana is back bois
When I first got an amazon account this and the strategy guide were the first things I ordered from the site back about 13 years ago.
I just Pre-Purchased the HD remaster for Steam. Doesn't come out until June 24th. I love this game and this is going to be a long 4 months.
There's a super awesome looking collector's edition in Japan that supposedly has English support and I may just have to import that one for myself...and then buy it digitally on another console to show my support XD
Hey guys.... Legend of Mana Remaster coming out June 26, 2021
WHOOOO!!!
This is a well crafted and thoughtful review. Thanks for posting.
Thank you very much! I had a lot of fun making it!
Definitely one of my favorites of all time. Just recently got my kids (7,9) into it.
One of my favs as well, definitely most fond!
just gonna hand you this dub my good sir, legend of mana is the first game i ever played when i was a kid and it's still my favorite, and now we get to play it with that gorgeous remastered soundtrack i'm so hyped
It's a great one, and I'm majorly hyped for the remaster!
Hey somebody besides me played this game😅
It's a shame a few things got lost in translation but it's still great.
Thanks for the review before bed mate😅
This is my favorite game of all time 🙌. The soundtrack is amazing .
this game is a masterpiece. Beautiful art and beautiful songs. I believe there is no game with better OST than legend of mana
legend of mana has a pretty good game mechanics.
@@strain42 Yeah that might be a challenge to get unless it's a reproduction manual best of luck.
This is absolutely one of my favorite games. I am extremely upset that the remaster is not going to be available on XBox. I can play it on my PS2, but I want that remaster!!
Legend of Mana is my favorite game as well. I find myself quoting the Mana Tree opening each time I start a new game.
Great video Strain! I know that "negative videos" draw in the views but I feel that it is far more satisfying to watch a video where the creator is just expressive positivity and good vibes and this was a joy to watch.
(And I can tell this was an important video to you because you wore the shirt that your avatar wears. XD)
Also I'm proud of you for pronouncing Mana the way God intended.
This is the first game I played on the PS One that made me fall in love with gaming.
Also I love how you subtly referenced the Sword of Mana GBA game, which I also have some fond memories of playing.
I absolutely adooooooooore this gem of a Mana game!!!! ~
There is a perfect walk through that takes you through every possible quest.

@@strain42 I guess we should have our own pronunciation of it then
@@dstaple3 I'll just start pronouncing it May-Nay just to annoy EVERYBODY
Likewise
I really need to play this again I hope it gets at least a rerelease in the future.
Also I do want to hear about Dawn of mana I saw a trailer of that on TV when i was a kid and always remember it as "that game with a plant sword thing"
omg i had to come back to this video to ask you how you feel about this masterpiece getting a remake??? this was my childhood gem, i was ecstatic!
@@strain42 everyone said LoM was never gonna be remade cause it was not as popular as the other mana games. but here we are. they even redo the music! whoever greenlit this will see heaven when they die.
I love this video. I am starting to try and make streaming a priority and I was going to stream this game. Your video sums up everything I've felt about this game. I want to bring attention to it as well and I'm going to start posting a play thru of it on my youtube channel sometime soon
YEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSS LET'S GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO LEGEND OF MANA REMASTER
LET'S GOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!
Nice game and wonderful review.
This channel is extremely underrated in terms of views and subscribers.
Golems can be mad tough, but building & programming them is hecka complicated.
ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS GAME!
Has some of the best art I've ever seen in a game.
A masterpiece ❤
Rented that game from Blockbuster a lot as a kid and eventually bought it. Can't wait for the remastered to come out this month.
