They saw a game about a robot superhero blasting evil robots and taking their powers and made a show about a robot superhero blasting evil robots and taking their powers. Surprisingly accurate to the games story too it's almost as if they'd seen more than just a picture of Mega Man before they started working on it : /

I just love that show. Sure, it can be corny, sure, it has bad moments, but one thing you have to appreciate is the commitment to their work. It's fun to watch, regardless of why. It encapsulates the 80's, where catering to an audience wasn't as pivotal as most of the shows nowadays.
Finally someone who says it. This show is extremely overhated. At least it's better than Captain N, the Street Fighter cartoon, and even worse, Darkstalkers!

One of the only good video game cartoons. May still be corny, but at least the show itself makes sense (unlike the Mario super show), is mostly faithful to its source material (aside from Protoman being evil), and nothing really sticks out as annoying. Plus it does have its fair share of pure badass moments.

SatAm had story and character, AOSTH had comedy and captured the original game's lightheartedness, Underground had some catchy tunes and introduced Manic and Sonia, Sonic X had decent animation, had a wonderful Japanese dub, adapted the Adventure games, and introduced us to Jason Griffith as Sonic and Mike Pollock as Eggman in English. Sonic Boom may have had bad games, but the cartoon is hilarious, all the characters are likeable and well acted, even Amy, and it gave us a good new character in Sticks.
Everyone’s acting like this is only part of the show that’s actually good. That’s just criminal, there was another awesome part: “Now I’ve got your power!” *punch*

Honestly of the old video game cartoon adaptations this one is probably my favorite. It’s like 60s Batman mixed with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Yes it can get REALLY stupid(Lion Men) and they took their liberties with some of the characters(Proto Man being sassy evil Mega Man) but it definitely has its moments. At least they didn’t go with the Monsteropolis shit when making this show.

I just love that show. Sure, it can be corny, sure, it has bad moments, but one thing you have to appreciate is the commitment to their work. It's fun to watch, regardless of why.
It encapsulates the 80's, where catering to an audience wasn't as pivotal as most of the shows nowadays.

I forgot that Mega Man's cartoon show was actually really good, probably stands alongside Sonic SatAM as one of the few decent cartoons based off a video games. Way better than Mario or Zelda's cartoons, that's for sure. This Mega Man also was way better than his Captain N counterpart *shudders*

Agreed.I found a whole new appreciation for Ruby Spears once Fully Charged came out. Ruby Spears was incredibly cheesy don't get me wrong, but 80's cartoons did what they said on the tin. You wanted Super Fighting Robots, you got Super Fighting Robots. They didn't feel the need to throw out everything that made Mega Man Mega Man to force in yet another ""relatable"" lame human kid. They saw a game about a robot superhero blasting evil robots and taking their powers and made a show about a robot superhero blasting evil robots and taking their powers. Surprisingly accurate to the games story too it's almost as if they'd seen more than just a picture of Mega Man before they started working on it : /

0:12-0:20 Showing X’s internal structure in the intro was so freakin’ cool. As someone who’s fascinated by engineering I always appreciated that attention to detail.

One of the only good video game cartoons. May still be corny, but at least the show itself makes sense (unlike the Mario super show), is mostly faithful to its source material (aside from Protoman being evil), and nothing really sticks out as annoying. Plus it does have its fair share of pure badass moments.

+aaproductions23 True, though I think all of Sonic's cartoons have had their strong points. SatAm had story and character, AOSTH had comedy and captured the original game's lightheartedness, Underground had some catchy tunes and introduced Manic and Sonia, Sonic X had decent animation, had a wonderful Japanese dub, adapted the Adventure games, and introduced us to Jason Griffith as Sonic and Mike Pollock as Eggman in English. Sonic Boom may have had bad games, but the cartoon is hilarious, all the characters are likeable and well acted, even Amy, and it gave us a good new character in Sticks.

man i used to love watching this show...still my favorite episode was when X, Vile, and some of the mavericks showed up...this of course being right around the time I started playing Mega Man X and that blew my mind

i think capcom is trolling us yet again. even if the cartoon is legit i bet it won't last very long on cartoon network. cn will just cancel because boys aren't buying enough of the tie-in toys or because too many girls are part of the viewership. thats the same bullshit cn cancelled thundercats and y. justice because too girls started liking it and the toys weren't selling good enough.
no what i mean is apparently the c. network exec's are sexist and apparently don't want girls watching a ''boy show'' in big numbers. y. justice was popular but was generating unexpectedly higher viewership with a female audience. the other reason is the toys weren't selling enough to boys (likely the same reason). because it'd be a godaweful disaster if a 8 year old girl buys a action figure of superboy.

The 2000's are horrible for pretty much everything. must be the Y2k bug. :P the later 90's still had some decent stuff here and there. Beast Wars was pretty good. Never cared too much for pokemon to be honest, but I absolutely LOVED the funimation Dragon Ball Z dub, although technically that show is late 80's/early 90's.

Mega Man starred in a Saturday-morning style cartoon that premiered in 1994. Ruby-Spears, one of the producers of the show, redesigned the characters from the Mega Man video games to varying degrees. The show had a budget of 300,000 dollars per episode. It was originally designed in an art style matching the games' artwork. "Appearance in Japan", the first episode of Mega Man: Upon a Star, was made as test footage and intended to be a special episode of the series, as it had the same animation and used the same voice actors as the cartoon in production. However, it was a big budget, and so the animation style had to change. The new art style was based on redesigns of the characters Keiji Inafune had done in his spare time. "Appearance in Japan" still aired on TV in 1994, as an after school special on various TV stations and in Japan on TV Tokyo. If the series' art style hadn't changed, it would've aired alongside two similarly cancelled shows: an English dub of Magic Knight Rayearth starring Venus Terzo as Luce, and an American adaptation of Sailor Moon utilizing live-action and animation with Adrienne Barbeau as Queen Beryl and Queen Serenity.
At one time, Mega Man was placed as the number one weekly syndicated children's show in the Nielsen ratings.
I watched Mega Man syndicated on Texas Fox affiliate KABB 29 in 1995 to 1997 and on South Carolina UPN affilate WMMP in the summer months of 1997, and in reruns on Fox Family Channel (now Freeform) from July 18, 1999 until September 2001.

Honestly of the old video game cartoon adaptations this one is probably my favorite.
It’s like 60s Batman mixed with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Yes it can get REALLY stupid(Lion Men) and they took their liberties with some of the characters(Proto Man being sassy evil Mega Man) but it definitely has its moments. At least they didn’t go with the Monsteropolis shit when making this show.
