After some miscellaneous talking and preparation, when the 2nd South Carolina Stringband band strikes up a tune together, it is like pure magic. Love this song, and especially your version of it. I was especially SO HAPPY to see that a band member on the far left was playing the Clarke Tin Whistle - THE VERY SAME MODEL which I have in my possession and am learning right now. Thank you so much for continuing to share your work, and much obliged for the “early access.” Let us make that a tradition. (:
Thanks History Boy !!! Great to see you today. You must be proud. You put on a fine show - across the board. Your troops looked wonderful. Very professional !! Also, congrats upon your vastly improved drumming and authentic musicians' gear. Looking good !

I think this is my favourite type of period song. Just songs sung by soldiers. Songs like Goober Peas, Tenting Tonight, and this one give, what I think at least, is the best view of a soldier's life during the war.
I’ve been a long time listener ever since my dad introduced me to your songs. Hope y’all are doing well, great music, God bless the 2nd South Carolina String Band and God bless Dixie!
I listened to you all play Jine the Cavalry early this week and have been singing it nonstop so catchy lol. Mad respect and admiration from a Yankee gal who became obsessed with your music from my SC boyfriend!
Your microphone reminds me of my truck commander yelling at me to cup my mic when I talk to him from the gunner's hatch while we speed down that long road along Camp Taji.
@@2ndSouthCarolinaStringBand He's saying that when he was in the military he got yelled at for getting wind/background noise in his microphone, and that your recording sounded similar to what he would've gotten yelled at for at times. Great job guys! Well played and sung. I've always loved this song since I was about 6 or 7. I would listen to my Dad's 2 record set "The Union and Confederacy" over and over again.

You need to study where this music came from. The 2nd plays it well but it is the music of enslaved people.
