Lumiose is Paris, Paris has a notorious set of catacombs. The majority of catching will be done in Lumiose's catacombs and bosses will be fucked up ghost versions of Pokemon.
I think they’d be silly to not have the catacombs. (If Arceus is Breath of the Wild, then is Z-A Tears of the Kingdom lol?) I don’t think the **majority** of the catching will be underground, there will definitely be a lot of Pokemon roaming the city.
Do you remember Pokémon Generations, the mini series? Zygarde was inside an underground cave which did not appear in the following games. We may see it now.
looking back i think they purposely prevented making a Z game solely to make this one. they wanted to make a Z game but had to wait till they got enough pieces
@@alexfanfan9511Yeah, they've admitted in the past that they didn't do Pokémon Z or Gray exactly not to be predictable, but it still leaked that there were plans for X2/Y2, which okay, would still repeat the B/W formula with 2 sequels, but could give us a story and proper Kalos attention back then. Legends is an awesome series, and I'm hyped, but it is still another approach to the games
I think this will actually be in the past. This will be a parallel to Haussmann's renovation of Paris which took place between 1853 and 1870. So it would actually be taking place around the same time as Legends Arceus.
Haussmann’s renovation is definitely an inspiration but the fact that people were wearing modern clothes in the trailer disproves it being set in the past
Legends arceus to begin with started us in the past. We can start out in the future at the start, but afterward, we go to the past to change the future.
My interpretation of the "futuristic" section of the trailer is that it is supposed to represent stepping inside the blueprint of what whatever organization the logo belongs to wants Lumiose to become, possibly using a version of the same type of technology used in the Holocaster devices, essentially the X & Y version of things like the Pokenav from the Hoenn games or the X-Tranceiver in Unova, the featured so heavily. So that sequence doesn't necessarily mean it takes place "in the future" like so many people immediately jumped to, and considering how weirdly advanced some things in the Pokemon world are compared to others I could see this being set 50-100 years ago, but in either case I feel that we will be helping to build the Lumiose city we played through in X & Y
My guess for the plot is that, similar to Pokémon Legends Arceus with the pokédex, our initial goal will be to help build and redevelop Lumiose City into a bigger and more modernized city, but similar to Pokémon Legends Arceus with the whole frenzied nobles and space-time rifts, something will happen revolving xerneas and yveltal, threatening not only Lumiose City but the Kalos ecosystem as a whole, and our character will have to try to find and reassemble zygarde in order for balance to be restored and peace to be brought back to Kalos. But as far as how the ultimate weapon will fit into the story, I have no idea.
I agree, I think Lumious will be base camp but there was too much plot in Geosenge for us not to go there. Also how will you fit the legends, aka 3 massive legendary pokemon, inside of a city. I feel like the plot of AZ and the war are possible too, as they were the biggest mystery of Kalos and with how the 2 box legends fueled the weapon it might be up to Zygarde to stop the chaos of the weapon (either when initially made or being used again like lysander did)
You clearly didn't play much PLA, because the point of much of the main story but **especially** the side-quests was easing folks' fears about living alongside pokemon. In a way, our time-traveling protag introduces the concept of people and pokemon living side-by-side.
@tlst94 Why, though? I'd love to see their takes on other parts of the world, as well as what new designs they could come up with. And the main series games are their money makers. S/V sold gang busters. There's no way they're stopping that.
One thing that I didn't notice but a friend did is that before the full lumiose map reveal, a talonflame flies off towards the tower, but then when we get closer to the tower, now it's a fletchling flying. which seems even more important when the title is Z-A, or essentially a sort of reverse alphabet. i doubt they would add in de-evolving pokemon other than mega evolution, but it makes you wonder if that was on purpose or not.
That is very interesting. I think the future parts of the trailer is just what they want the city to look like however the game is in the past. Maybe the Talonflame is shown because they were thinking how the fletching they are watching while imagining the new city would look like cause it will be done in a lot of time. So maybe we see fletching later on telling us that the game is really set in the past, just want it to build the new city. (I hope I didn't messed up with my english and it makes sense 😅)
This is why I feel like it's not gonna be as simple as "set in the past" or "set in the future." There's deliberate contrast in the trailer with the drawn out blueprints vs the kind of hologram-esque 3d stuff. With SV's main thing being past vs future, I feel there's a good chance we see a bit of both somehow
The original plans for Pokemon Z way back when, as far as we are able to decipher, were for it to be a follow-up to X&Y. It was to be set after the events in X&Y but REVEAL more about the backstory of the past events that led up to X&Y. So it makes sense to me that it will begin as a follow-up to X&Y, to fulfill the "Z" part of the game, then go back into the past via some means to fulfill the ancient "A" portion, likely revolving around AZ, and possibly the special Floette involved with AZ, seeing as the "A" in the game logo appears to be plant-like.
I like the idea of the main character being able to travel between the future and the past of Lumiose City, which feels possible given Talonflame turning into a Fletchling in the trailer and the general vibe of the trailer being futuristic while being a Legends game (with the first one being in the past). It would be cool to do an "Ocarina of Time" style game where you can go back and forth between the time periods. Maybe that's why it goes Z-A? You start in the near future (Z) and go back in time (A) and can go back and forth. Obviously it may also include AZ as a character, Zygarde, etc. But the clues make me feel like we're going to get to go back and forth!
Imagine you're involved in the redevelopment plan of Luminose, but the company you work for is just a front to actually building the ultimate weapon, it gets fired and the ghost girl was caught in the collateral and that's why in X/Y she appears and says 'You're Not The One' ... meaning you're not the trainer who caused her death
I'm trying to figure out how the 'based in a city' idea works but my thoughts are you have quests like 'we need a park built' ... go and catch 5 fighting type Pokemon that know the move 'Stomp' to clear the land or something like that, so you gotta travel round the city finding them or finding trainers with said Pokemon and convince them to help out (maybe they wanna battle you before joining), at the end you realise the UW was actually being built so you get tasked with finding Zygarde (maybe banished again) to fixing up the mess you unknowingly caused.
Why is everybody convinced the Ultimate Weapon is somehow involved with this game? Personally I don't see that being a part of it. Partially because does anybody even know how to build the thing? Lysandre had to use the original for his goal because he didn't know how to replicate it. This game looks only a few years after X/Y to me. Which suggests that they probably still don't know how to build it. Plus AZ refuses to build that thing again so if he is even in this game he isn't helping. So I just don't see it. But I do like the idea that there are more then just a Redevelopment plan in this game.
Considering that Final Fantasy VII Remake also takes place within a single city, I don't see a problem with the concept. They just need to flesh out the city more than what we saw in X and Y.
Plus, they can implement DLC this time, giving us a postgame story to explore outside the city, especially Geosenge Town and route 10, cuz it has AZ’s weapon and the route has the graves of Pokémon from the Kalos War.
FF7R being only in Midgar was such a stretch of exploration tho, wasnt a fan of that honestly. I think this would be a better fit for PLAZ being one city.
I just hope lumiose actually is as big as irl paris. Most people didnt know that pokemon regions that are based on japan is comparatively modest in comparison to most regions that are not based in japanese regions. If gs beta maps to go by, you can travel through entire honshu (japan's main island) at the cost of regions being focused on a single city (kanto only being saffron city). Imagine GF made London being its own region like kanto instead the entire UK, or mesagoza being its own region instead of paldea.@@madnessarcade7447
A game set in the future does sound fun but I did also see something about the game being set in the late 1800s as well. Because in paris there was a period known as the haussman renovation which was a massive renovation of the city which to me seems like a perfect real world inspiration for this game. Either way I am excited to learn more about this game
I hope it'll be set in the past, cuz I'm not super into Future games. I don't really like the Violet Paradox Pokemon either for that reason. I'll still be playing it, cuz I love Pokemon, but I will not like it.
This whole thing is wildly unexpected, but I think what we should be really excited for is the prospect of some French Regional forms and new evolutions, not just Mega evos.
I would have to say because of Megas, they won’t have new evolutions. Could be wrong, but considering that Megas are a form of evolution, probably not. Regional forms hopefully
IMO that would be a worst case scenario for me. Megas are cool, but way more subject to removal from the game than a standard evo and even in games that include them way more likely to be super late compared to just a new evo.
I’m hoping for regional variants, regional evolutions, *and* mega evolutions. What would be *really* interesting, is if they gave us mega evolutions that only the new regional evolutions can achieve. To use Wooper as an example, let’s say that Clodsire got a new mega evolution, but not Quagsire. Or, what would be more likely(because that would make one evolution line better than the other), even though Far’Fetched never got a mega evolution, despite being fully evolved for so long, what if Sir’Fetched got a mega evolution when it was introduced? Something like that would be cool.

One thing to note about what used to be known as the "DLC area" of the Paldea map is that it covers part of the French/Basque region that isnt in Kalos-Kalos is mostly the north and central area of France, including Paris/Lumiose City. I'm not sure if this proves or disproves a connection; maybe the future version of Lumiose has moved to a previously undiscovered area?
As i looked at the the title of the new game, I notice that the Z had hexagon in it just like we know that it represents Zygard's cells, just like Hoop said. So if you look at bottom legs of the A, you notice it have roots like a plant. Those this mean Zygard will have partner legendary pokemon, Dragon/ Grass. Both work together to bring balance to the world, just as the game focus on coexistence.
I interpreted it to mean future and past will be represented; progress and origins. Perhaps even time travel. Especially when you think about Z being the end and A as the beginning. Past and future.
Another Dragon legendary would be interesting and would fit with the existing legendaries. The Kalos trio are based on elements of the World Tree from Norse mythology. Depictions usually show the midgard serpent wrapped around the earthly realm, and another serpent eating away at the roots of the World Tree. There's also a squirrel who serves as a messenger to the hawk at the top of the tree and the serpent at the roots. Would be funny to have squirrel legendary or mythical too
I think people are misinterpreting the part that makes it seem like it takes place ENTIRELY in Lumiose City. I think it just means that it is the main hub part that you work on developing while going out to different areas to get materials and such.
I don't think it is being misinterpreted. The map shown is entirely Lumiose city and it looks huge. Each area even seems to have a circular park that could easily be different biomes. The whole purpose of this game seems to be trying to make the city into something that essentially negates the need to have undeveloped, natural habitats.
Could be either, notice how similar the layout looks to the BB Academy Terarium, there were also hints of “development” as you can upgrade the biomes - a possible hint to ZA’s urban development theme
PLA wasn’t about building a fort and keeping Pokémon out. It was about bringing people closer to the Pokémon by bettering their understanding of them. You quite literally spent your time bringing Pokémon into the town to help people. By the end of the game people are coexisting with Pokémon. Also, present Lumiose city is already very futuristic, and the vision of the redevelopment plan coincides with what Lumiose city is today.
One thing that I found interesting is a moment towards the end of the trailer. When the camera pans out to look at the entire Lumiose map and then switches to the drawing of the map, the circular areas surrounding the tower change. In the “blueprint” view, the circles have at least something within them, but in the drawing view, they’re completely empty. This could imply that the circles will fill in throughout the game, indicating that you have finished modernizing that part of the city. You’ll probably have to look at the trailer to know what I’m talking about, but I think I’m pretty spot on with this one
Not just that but I think they aren't in the same location. I have to double check but I thought that was the case. I could also be the circle being something like the "Wild Area" where you can catch Pokemon. But probably not the only place though
I think in this game, we help build Lumiose City to what it is today. The futuristic looking part is what Lumiose looks like today. The sketches are the blueprints for what the architect (our boss, maybe Lysandre's ancestor) is envisioning for Lumiose
My assumption is the game is going to involve primal reversions of Xerneas and Yveltal going berserk and destroying Zygarde, and we will need to recollect its cells throughout the region similar to the wisp quest from PLA. There should be some references to Paldea as well, though I'm most curious if we'll see any new megas and regional forms. Diancie will probably be locked behind owning SV in reference to the tera crystals, similar to Shaymin and Darkrai from PLA.
It’s called LEGENDS Z if it’s a legend that means that it’s old, people don’t seem to understand this if we get a futuristic Pokémon game it isn’t going to be a legends game because then it wouldn’t be a legend if it didn’t happen a long time ago
Hoops, I don’t blame you for being so energised by this news. I watched the presents at 5am (I live in NZ) and tried so hard not to shout because I was so shocked 😂
I think the game is a prequel. It is probably going to show the origins of Mega or the utilization of it to help build the world. Maybe it's rebuilding the city after the AZ disaster, hints the name Z-A.
I disagree I think this games takes place in the future, the trailer is too futuristic and the people look way too modern to be a game that takes place 3000 years before the present
@@Anthony-tz2wb 3000 years is too much, but just for reference, LA was (real world) mid-19th century (Meiji era), exactly the same time as Haussmann's Paris redesign/reconstruction. Not too unlikely, considering the hand-drawn architecture designs in the trailer. I think both scenarios (past/future) are likely.
If you do all the side quests, jubilife village is full of Pokemon at the end of legends Arceus. It's really just doing the same thing to a different degree.
I think Z-A is in the past, a few years/decades arter PLA, long enough for the concept of pokeballs to be brought to Kalos. I think the original city of Lumiose is "over run" with wild pokemon, and it's up to the player to catch pokemon/relocate/tame them so that it can be a full Metropolitan like it is in X and Y; Hence the "Redevelopment plan" I think Zygarde is like Arceus, in tasking the player to help do that for order to be brought to Lumiose, make sure it is going to go in the direction it wants it to
The letter A in the logo looks like a pair of legs with a motive and color (green) related to leaves. It reminds me a little to Ogerpon legs. Also, it is interesting that the title is Z-A, with Z being the last letter of the alphabet and A being the first letter. Maybe a hint of going from the end to the beginning of something?
I wonder if they're going to have a similar sequence to the beginning of Legends Arceus where Zygarde somehow summons you to send you on the quest of the game. Also Zygarde 100% should be a permanent form change in this game. I was incredibly confused and disappointed back in Gen 7 when I collected all of the cells and realized that you needed to get it knocked down to half health for it to change to 100%. Or at least they could give it Belly Drum or a new move that does the same thing so you can get both the form change and a maximized attack stat.
I think this game takes place before XY as Lumiose city goes from an old age architecture to a modern architecture. Lumiose tower is already high tech, so I don't think they would remodel it if its already pretty modern so it has to take place before the tower was built or a previous version of the tower than we see in XY, and over the course of the game we see the tower in XY as its built. The city in XY is already a place where pokemon and people live together, so the setting has to be some time before that point. I don't think the hologram scenes are meant to look futuristic as they are just the blueprints in 3D, its just the glowing outlines on some characters that make it come off as futuristic but all the buildings, roads and bridges still look like a blueprint.
A note about the futuristic blueprint segment: I don’t think it’s basis that ZA will take place in the future. That whole segment was to 1. Get the audience familiar with where the game’s gonna be set by showing a familiar landscape; 2. Show the Lumiose builders’ visions of how the city will look like after redevelopment; 3. Juxtapose and highlight the gameplay of the game aka redeveloping Lumiose. Also, Arceus was probably inspired by Japan’s colonization of Hokkaido (Sinnoh/Hisui is based on Hokkaido). Kalos is based on France. France had the Haussmann’s renovation of Paris in the late 1800s. Since Lumiose is inspired by Paris, it’ll make more sense if ZA takes place during the 18th century. If it’s gonna be more modern, maybe sometime in the 1920-30s? But I’m betting more on the 1800s. Besides, the name “Legends” implies past, so it wouldn’t make sense if the game takes place in the future. It should be renamed to something else like “Visions” or “Destiny” lol.
My idea is the futuristic vibe is just blueprints of what they want luminoise city to be like "we want a city where pokemon and humans live together for our town becoming a city" meaning it could still be in the past like we rebuilt jubilife village in arceus
I won't immediately dismiss the idea that it is modern or takes place in the future, but with regards to the "tron/futuristic" element of the trailer, I'm unsure why people don't realize its literally just represents a 3D representation of the blueprints of what Lumiose City is planning to look like. It's literally someone visualizing what someone plans to see Lumiose City as, I really don't think it means "It's futurisitic" as in the time setting of the game, but just a visual representation of what one hopes Lumiose looks like. So yes, it's meant to represent the future, but only because someone is envisioning the future of Lumiose City. The envisioning of the "Urban Development of Lumiose City" looks far more like it takes place in the past. Maybe not as far back as legends but I don't it'll take place after the events of XY. It could possibly be the case, I won't dismiss it, but I don't think it will.
The concept aren’t opposites from PLA to LZA. You have a base and introduce Pokemon to it. The context is different, but we’d essentially be doing the same thing. Maybe the redevelopment is to bring more Pokemon to the city. Maybe there was a war that scared people from Pokemon and our job is to show people that they’re trustworthy. Again, basically the same as PLA…
sorry but Legends Z-A is more likely to take place in the past same time period as Legends Arceus in fact, based on the real world 1800s when Paris itself was doing a big redevelopment project what we are more likely gonna do, is create present day Lumiose City
Hoops, my guy, take a closer look at the 'A' in the logo, on the feet of the 'A' there are lines reminiscent of the stem veins you would see on a leaf, in contrast to the 'Z' clearly decorated with the hexagonals of Zygarde, my theory is that 'A' will represent not only the ultimate weapon but a brand new pokemon to rival Zygarde, possibly a grass type, maybe even representing a new split evoloution of the eternal flower giving us a brand new legendary and/or mythical, the credence to further my theory is consider Enamorous as the legendary that was given to us in PLA.
Is it possible gamefreak will be giving us a legendary that starts with the letter A? Maybe a nemesis to zygarde? Like Xerneas and yveltal kind of dynamic. Oh the anticipation!
My prediction for the synopsis of this game: As you work on rebuilding the ruins of Lumios City, you will be dragged into an epic conflict with the precursor of Team Flare
@@macwelch8599 It hasn't been confirmed, but if you look at the Lumiose City map in this trailer compared to the map in X and Y, it is MUCH more developed. Some of the waterways look to have been built over when you look at them.
@@DrFerno727 France was industrialized from 1850 to 1875 and baseball caps were invented around then. The past isn't always the fucking before times like Arceus.
Btw, noticed how the plazas were all named after colors? (Jaune = yellow). Come to think of it, one of them was called Magenta and the tower at the center is called Prism Tower... Necrozma is the Prism mon while ZAmazenta means The Magenta.
A lot of people have mentioned GTA or Final Fantasy 7 regarding games that take place in one city, but another one of my favorites is Jak 2 which takes place in one city. If done well, there’s a TON they can do in a setting like that

It’s most likely going to be set in the 1850s or the 1800s in general thank you the Pokémon channel noggin for this information in 1850 there was a redevelopment plan for Paris in the expanded a lot it was even when the Eiffel Tower was built, and it starts off as a drawing of it in the teaser and it’s kind of like a blueprint when it switches
I am so psyched about this game. I wonder if Calem and Serana will be the Protagonists again or someone new. I would also love to see Team Flare again. But more better lead and stuff. Like how team plasma was in BW2. Also if we have the kalos starters again or any starters, they definitely need to have a mega evolution
I’m really hoping that they misworded that because being stuck in lumiose sounds very repetitive and even if they made it really big so it wouldn’t be an issue you would just get lost
I'm not curious of if it's gonna live up to the legends name, no, my curiosity lies in what kind of pokemon are gonna be in this? This is KALOS!!! the LITERAL ORIGIN of what many consider to be the best feature in all of pokemon, Mega evolution. Making me wonder, what kinda pokemon are we gonna get? Are we gonna see some new mega's? WHAT ARE OUR STARTERS GONNA BE AND WILL THEY HAVE SOME NEW EVOLUTION!?! This is making me more and more curious by the second.
Starters I'm very curious as well, last time we get 3 starters from different regions, it may very well be the same thing, my guess would be treecko for grass, chimchar for fire, and totodile for water, but that is a very random guess, I just want those pokemon for starters
@@patrickzalatoris3206 it possible yes but I want to point out that the starters were three different starters from three different regions. In my mind it's likely they might do something similar again in this legends game.
@tlst94 Considering the last legends game, it's possible the professor of the game ether got them as gifts, had someone catch them, or found them randomly scattered about. Now here's a question in return: how will Kalos effect our starter's evolution?
The shields for the king's pokemon in S/V look like Lumios city and they never got into the lore of that. So that is another Paldea connection as well.
It is crazy you are the FIRST poketuber to finally bring up the baseball cap and that the trailer we saw takes place in a more modern or even futuristic time and cannot of been in the past. Thank you! So this is going to take place in the mega timeline and happen after x and y. wither we go back in time in the game could be but the video we do have now takes place after x and y.
I think people are a bit too focused on the blue lines meaning it’s in the future. Fellas, those are blueprints. The trailer is just designed like that because we’re developing the city.
Fun Theory: It is the time where Lumiouse City gets fully modernized or rebuilt🤯. In the trailer we can see a scetch of the new Lumiouse City & The most part of teaser we can see blue lines like a blueprint for Lumiouse City🤔.
What if this is the timeline where Team Flare won and since he was defeated in ultra sun and moon the people are trying to rebuild. Like Lumiose City is like the last livable habitat and you have to find and revive Zygarde to revitalize the rest of the region.
Tired of saying “A-Z?” Allow me to introduce my idea: “Zeta”! So like “Zed-A” but also “Z et A” which is French. You’re welcome. And holy cannoli there’s so much we didn’t get in XY, many things that can RETURN, and ALL THE NEW POKEMON! Hype
It's definitely not set in the future. The Legends title seems to be telling a part of real history through the guise of a Pokemon title. The re-development of Paris was a very real part of France's history in the 1800s & 1900s. Also... you can't define a "legend" without the past being part of the definition.
It definitely takes place in the past, a lot of people were confused by that whole "holographic" part of the trailer but that only represents the imagination of the person who designed the city, that's why it starts and ends like a drawing. It's not that complicated guys, don't go crazy theorizing.😏
X and Y were so special to me. Shiny furfro looks like my dog rex, who i grew up with, who finally passed of old age two years after the games came out. We got a yorkie puppy named Sadie shortly after the games came out. She was sick and needed round the clock care. But when i would play with eevee to work on getting Sylveon with her napping on my lap, she would always perk up and look so curiously at the game. She passed away at 9 months old due to a congenital defect with her liver. Needless to say, i am so happy to go back to a region so dear to me.
Pokémon Legends Z-A also has something interesting. So there are a couple of Pokémon not available in any of the Switch Pokémon games: The 6 elemental Monkeys, Patrat & Watchog, and Furfrou (also Alolan Rattata & Raticate). All those Pokémon (not the Alolan forms) are part of the XY Pokédex. But since XY has all mons transferable, I'm sure we could get the Alolan forms too.
I think rebuilding the city and the drawing animations of the teaser will play a bigger part in the game. If the city is being rebuilt, there might be parts of the city that need to be cleared from Megas and giving you access to start building and designing that section of the city. Each of our cities will be slightly different since the beginning of the teaser resembles architectural blueprints.
There are more callbacks to Kalos found in Paldea: the name "Area Zero" has the initials AZ, and the Treasures of Ruin quartet can be seen as a reference to eternal Floette's move Light of Ruin.
The idea of being entirely in a city is so cool. The entire franchise has limited pokemon spawning in towns to the occasional gift and fishing spot for the most part. I’m really looking forward to seeing how the integrate a Legends Arceus size dex into it.
I would like if this game pass twelve years after the XY games, because is the time that passed in real life. Also i noticed that the color of the word Pokemon in the logo is the same as Diance(pink and gray).
Letting you know that the logo is green and gray Edit: looked back at it and I'm assuming you were referring to the "Pokemon" logo and not "Z-A", right? My mistake ^_^'
In the first legends game we also only had one city. All other places were vilages, but not cities. I don't think the game will be locked to Lumiose, just that Lumiose will be the main hub just like what happened in the first game and the objective will be to recruit people and pokemon to Lumiose
The fact that I feel like Pokémon is making the game as though it’s a parallel universe-like vibes is awesome! Have anyone thought of how the game itself look like the movie Tron legacy…. A mirror universe! And that random symbol he mention looks like a mirror like universe, if you draw a line horizontal across it
I would love to see this be an alternate universe where Lysandre succeeded in destroying a large portion of Kalos. This would be the rebuild of the city.
I feel like the logo featured in the teaser is familiar, but I cannot, for the life of me, think of why. The fact it's referred to as "redevelopment", plus how Tron-like that segment is, definitely makes me feel like it's set at some point in the future, too.
This will be the first time that a city, or really anywhere in Pokémon will be actually to scale. This Lumiose City will actually be the size it’s supposed to be, like what you’d see in the anime. That’s super awesome.
I just hope they learn from their previous mistakes Like not making the dex mandatory again, focusing more on battling rather than catching, and overhauling the battle system to something more traditional
@@FlyGli1 when it forces you to make collectors items out of sentient beings and greatly reduces battling while also giving U a difficult and annoying battle system to work with, then yes It's also not that unique because Let's Go practically does the same thing
I think the "RE" part of redevelopment is going to be more about post-war reconstruction of Lumiose. It will still take place in the past, but not in the same way as PLA where there is very little connection between people and Pokemon. The bit about making Lumiose a place where people and Pokemon can live together makes a lot of sense in the context of Pokemon having just been used as soldiers in a war
1) If the title is read as “Z to A”, I wonder if we’re going to be going steadily back in time throughout gameplay. 2) We’re doing urban planning for PokéParis-there’s every chance we’ll get some creepy catacombs. Perhaps there are Zygarde cells hiding in there! 3) I can only hold out hope that we’ll get confirmation of AZ’s ultimate weapon creating the Great Crater of Paldea
I feel this game might go back and forth, between past and future. The building process might take you to the other parts of Kalos, but what you find there and/or catch, will be integrated to Lumiose, in that building process, but you just leave Lumiose due to these missions, with lore building and probable integration of the synchro machine.
Great video, fired up PLA and summarizied based off casual play: origins of spirit links for mega evolutions, discovery of mega stones, relationship of trainer and pokemon, ability to overcome chaos (from spacial distortions from Arceus), loss of trust with trainer and pokemon (starter change), a gripping factor and i hate to be negative but I'm reminded of red and blue where Gary lost a Mon. Placing emphasis on the relationship and trust with your Mon's otherwise a distorted evolution could take place (SkullGreymon from Season 1 of Digimon 1999). Finally, the Ghost Girl from the games could be the key to unlocking A and the complete forms of the legenday and mythical Mon's.
What part of this game are you most looking forward to so far? I'M STILL SO HYPED AHHHHHHH
I’m excited to see if Lumiose Tower is secretly redesigned into a hidden Ultimate Weapon in Pokémon Legends: tZAr.
All of it.
Hoops Im prob excited about AZ lore or the ultimate weapon! hbu?
kalos is my favorite region this is gonna be so sick
new Mega Evolutions but the whole game should be great.
Lumiose is Paris, Paris has a notorious set of catacombs. The majority of catching will be done in Lumiose's catacombs and bosses will be fucked up ghost versions of Pokemon.
The bosses are gonna be new megas. But I agree on the catacombs being the source of wild Pokémon
@@erickmiranda6717 it can be both. Have the boss be a ghost and when you beat it you get a mega stone for the Pokemon it used to be
I think they’d be silly to not have the catacombs. (If Arceus is Breath of the Wild, then is Z-A Tears of the Kingdom lol?) I don’t think the **majority** of the catching will be underground, there will definitely be a lot of Pokemon roaming the city.
Maybe it can be like the dens in the underground in bdsp with the differently structured rooms for each type of
Do you remember Pokémon Generations, the mini series? Zygarde was inside an underground cave which did not appear in the following games. We may see it now.
Fun Fact: This game will be Furfrou's first appearance in a Main Series Switch Game.
Ohh yeah makes sense 🤔 it's 1st time in gen 9 on switch 😮
Also the other four missing pokemon the three elemental monkey and the patrat line are in the Kalos base game pokedex
And that's why it's gonna be in my team 🩵 when I saw him I was like wait!? ARE WE GOING TO KALOS?! WHAT A CURVEBALL🩵🩵🩵
We can finally stop the monster that is Furfrou gate keeping on the home GTS
There was nothing but fun about dexit
Stoked our boy Zygarde finally gets his game after all these years, WILD!
looking back i think they purposely prevented making a Z game solely to make this one. they wanted to make a Z game but had to wait till they got enough pieces
Pieces like Zygarde. Clever
I kinda hope not honestly. I’m not a huge past” guy and I kinda like the idea of it taking place in the future
Haussmann’s renovation is definitely an inspiration but the fact that people were wearing modern clothes in the trailer disproves it being set in the past
THANK you. Someone gets it!
Definitely going to be set in the future at least for most of the game.
THANK YOU! Finally someone else got it
Yeah but he already pointed out they were wearing modern day clothes
I feel like the plot of AZ and the war are possible too, as they were the biggest mystery of Kalos and with how the 2 box legends fueled the weapon it might be up to Zygarde to stop the chaos of the weapon (either when initially made or being used again like lysander did)
Instead of unknown we have to find the zygarde cells.
You clearly didn't play much PLA, because the point of much of the main story but **especially** the side-quests was easing folks' fears about living alongside pokemon. In a way, our time-traveling protag introduces the concept of people and pokemon living side-by-side.
It seems like the Legends series will be their more experimental games, which I think is good.
When they said about Pokémon and people living together, I instantly thought of Rhyme City.
THANK YOU! I could not remember what it was called, so Kalos reveal was actually really effective. XD
Also hope this game addresses the note on the train station that states someone is in trouble, find me at our usual spot
Bro became typhlosion during that reaction
😭
I’d say Exploud.
Considering that Final Fantasy VII Remake also takes place within a single city, I don't see a problem with the concept. They just need to flesh out the city more than what we saw in X and Y.
Pokémon isn’t as big of a scale as those but it’ll still have its own charms
Plus, they can implement DLC this time, giving us a postgame story to explore outside the city, especially Geosenge Town and route 10, cuz it has AZ’s weapon and the route has the graves of Pokémon from the Kalos War.
I want them to let us go outside the city
FF7R being only in Midgar was such a stretch of exploration tho, wasnt a fan of that honestly. I think this would be a better fit for PLAZ being one city.
I just hope lumiose actually is as big as irl paris. Most people didnt know that pokemon regions that are based on japan is comparatively modest in comparison to most regions that are not based in japanese regions. If gs beta maps to go by, you can travel through entire honshu (japan's main island) at the cost of regions being focused on a single city (kanto only being saffron city).

That means roaring moon was a foreshadowing of this game because it's a " past mega"
Same with iron valiant
@@chrisjohnsen8448 I agree, but just Megas does seem more likely
I’m hoping for regional variants, regional evolutions, *and* mega evolutions. What would be *really* interesting, is if they gave us mega evolutions that only the new regional evolutions can achieve. To use Wooper as an example, let’s say that Clodsire got a new mega evolution, but not Quagsire. Or, what would be more likely(because that would make one evolution line better than the other), even though Far’Fetched never got a mega evolution, despite being fully evolved for so long, what if Sir’Fetched got a mega evolution when it was introduced? Something like that would be cool.
If we get fucking banished in this one, then I'm modding in the ability to incinerate the city.
Come on it was actually unexpected! I liked it as a story concept and the gameplay doesn't change that much for that period
The original plans for Pokemon Z way back when, as far as we are able to decipher, were for it to be a follow-up to X&Y.
The A will represent a new legendary being another Applin evolution!
Would be funny to have squirrel legendary or mythical too
I like your thought on the Future and past. It would be great if both of our ideas on the game are true.
Thank you, because I forgot they were base on the World Tree. So if your knowledge is right, I can't wait for squirrel legendary pokemon.
It’s funny how people were saying we were getting a gen 6 dlc and a gen 5 game but we got a gen 5 dlc and a gen 6 game lol
I think people are misinterpreting the part that makes it seem like it takes place ENTIRELY in Lumiose City. I think it just means that it is the main hub part that you work on developing while going out to different areas to get materials and such.
I believe that too. It's like jubilife in legends arceus. That's just gonna be the main area
No nintendo of america said its set entirely in lumiose
This is exactly what I thought
Since it’s based on Paris and the restoration makes me think we’re likely going into “catacombs” which would be remnants from the war
Furfrou and the elemental monkeys are part of the kalos pokedex, which means every pokemon 1-1025 will be available on a switch title
Don't forget about Patrat line too
I’m pretty sure the elemental monkeys and other pokemon aren’t on the switch
@@jockson7574 The idea is that this dex would have those pokemon, making all of them on the switch.
@@LMK-Gaming lol oh true
Okay guys, get your bingo cards ready. I have “AZ trying to find a way to remove his immortality” on mine.
It’s called LEGENDS Z if it’s a legend that means that it’s old, people don’t seem to understand this if we get a futuristic Pokémon game it isn’t going to be a legends game because then it wouldn’t be a legend if it didn’t happen a long time ago
The duality theme in this one is probably gonna be synthetic vs natural kinda thing, based on the Z and A designs on the title
I think the original city of Lumiose is "over run" with wild pokemon, and it's up to the player to catch pokemon/relocate/tame them so that it can be a full Metropolitan like it is in X and Y; Hence the "Redevelopment plan"
I think Zygarde is like Arceus, in tasking the player to help do that for order to be brought to Lumiose, make sure it is going to go in the direction it wants it to
The letter A in the logo looks like a pair of legs with a motive and color (green) related to leaves.
Good attention to detail, I think you’re on to something. Best theories I’ve seen on TH-cam all day
I think it’s gonna take place during the Haussmann Renovation
The concept aren’t opposites from PLA to LZA. You have a base and introduce Pokemon to it. The context is different, but we’d essentially be doing the same thing. Maybe the redevelopment is to bring more Pokemon to the city. Maybe there was a war that scared people from Pokemon and our job is to show people that they’re trustworthy. Again, basically the same as PLA…
sorry but Legends Z-A is more likely to take place in the past
same time period as Legends Arceus in fact, based on the real world 1800s
when Paris itself was doing a big redevelopment project
what we are more likely gonna do, is create present day Lumiose City
My prediction for the synopsis of this game:
As you work on rebuilding the ruins of Lumios City, you will be dragged into an epic conflict with the precursor of Team Flare

I’m praying someone new
If it’s gonna be set in the past, which I believe, They better add Barry’s ancestor in this game since there wasn’t one in Arceus
Eternal Flower Floette could be a paradox Pokemon
I doubt it

All Pokémon not on switch are in Pokémon X/Y so this game might have Elemental Monkeys and Watchog
I assume we're gonna get some kalos form pokemon with new evolutions like usual, likely new megas cuz kalos
Starters I'm very curious as well, last time we get 3 starters from different regions, it may very well be the same thing, my guess would be treecko for grass, chimchar for fire, and totodile for water, but that is a very random guess, I just want those pokemon for starters

Hopefully we can get the mythicals like how PLA is.
Isn't the symbol we see with the blueprints, the Kalos power plant's logo?
What if this is the timeline where Team Flare won and since he was defeated in ultra sun and moon the people are trying to rebuild. Like Lumiose City is like the last livable habitat and you have to find and revive Zygarde to revitalize the rest of the region.
Tired of saying “A-Z?” Allow me to introduce my idea:
“Zeta”!
I'm just glad they plan to release it on 2025. HOpefully, it will be available on the new system.
Alolan forms are in LGPE
I think rebuilding the city and the drawing animations of the teaser will play a bigger part in the game. If the city is being rebuilt, there might be parts of the city that need to be cleared from Megas and giving you access to start building and designing that section of the city. Each of our cities will be slightly different since the beginning of the teaser resembles architectural blueprints.
The "A" is definitely a new pokemon
Watch it turn into Pokemon Sim City.
Gogoat's reappearance in scarlet and violet was a foreshadowing to a return to Kalos!
I'm psyched! I just hate that we'll have to wait a whole damn year!
That good because it won't be rushed n less bugs
I'm sure that extra time will make it well worth the wait!
Even though we will have to wait a year for the game. I'm certain that we will get more info along the way.
There are more callbacks to Kalos found in Paldea: the name "Area Zero" has the initials AZ, and the Treasures of Ruin quartet can be seen as a reference to eternal Floette's move Light of Ruin.
What if it’s building lumios after az set off the ultimate weapon, we are just rebuilding lumios since mega stones already exist
theory: after the storyline of pokemon legends arceus zygarde opens up a portal and sends you to lumiose city in the future
Interesting fact. Z is the last alphabet like Omega while A is the first alphabet like Alpha
The idea of being entirely in a city is so cool. The entire franchise has limited pokemon spawning in towns to the occasional gift and fishing spot for the most part. I’m really looking forward to seeing how the integrate a Legends Arceus size dex into it.
Sun/Moon also did that with the few patches of grass in their cities
I can’t wait for the speculation about what the starters could end up being and speculating about Kalosian Forms.
Snivy, Scorbunny and Piplup
I would like if this game pass twelve years after the XY games, because is the time that passed in real life.
Also i noticed that the color of the word Pokemon in the logo is the same as Diance(pink and gray).
Letting you know that the logo is green and gray
Edit: looked back at it and I'm assuming you were referring to the "Pokemon" logo and not "Z-A", right? My mistake ^_^'
@@ghostlyfae8721 That's right and don't worry, i should be more specific. 😅
And that random symbol he mention looks like a mirror like universe, if you draw a line horizontal across it
if this game is set in the past, what if ‘the one’ is the player character, who is Serena/Calem ancestor?
I would love to see this be an alternate universe where Lysandre succeeded in destroying a large portion of Kalos. This would be the rebuild of the city.
I feel like the logo featured in the teaser is familiar, but I cannot, for the life of me, think of why. The fact it's referred to as "redevelopment", plus how Tron-like that segment is, definitely makes me feel like it's set at some point in the future, too.
I literally read a leak a week prior to the direct talking about a Legends game set in the future and the gimmick would be Pokemon fusion.
This will be the first time that a city, or really anywhere in Pokémon will be actually to scale. This Lumiose City will actually be the size it’s supposed to be, like what you’d see in the anime. That’s super awesome.
I just hope they learn from their previous mistakes
Like not making the dex mandatory again, focusing more on battling rather than catching, and overhauling the battle system to something more traditional
@@FlyGli1 when it forces you to make collectors items out of sentient beings and greatly reduces battling while also giving U a difficult and annoying battle system to work with, then yes
It's also not that unique because Let's Go practically does the same thing
The mysterious logo looks like a light flare, which could mean that team flare is behind the beautification of lumiose city's blueprints
Fun fact - baseball caps, like the one in the trailer, was first in use decades before legends arceus happened.
I saw something that makes it seem like it’s going to be around the 1800’s and that’s the fact that Paris went through a redevelopment in the 1800’s
I’m so happy we are finally getting another kalos game. I hope if we do get gen 5 remakes they get the same treatment and they aren’t rushed.
