I think we will be choosing 2 starter Pokémon again like we did in X and Y. We first choose from Snivy, Scorbunny, and Piplup, as their final evolutions will get regional forms. We then choose from the Kalos starters (Chespin, Fennekin, and Froakie) as their final evolutions will get Mega Evolutions.
I think the kalos starter will get a mega but most likely they will be catchable in the wild and not gave away like they did with the kanto and kalos starters in X and Y.
It's been all around including by HoopsandHipHop and these are the picks for the majority of people who don't think it's just going to be the Kalos starters with Megas.
I always saw Ash Greninja as normal Mega Greninja, but Ash got such a bond, that he did not need any stones. And also the idea that their stones got lost over the years works well with this.
Maybe, you are on to something... what if the kalos starters's megas weren't linked to the mega stones but a special bond between trainer and pokemon, and since the way to do it as been lost to time, no longer can mega evolve?, something like mega rayquaza, that need a non mega stone special item that allows it to mega evolve
Alain in the anime explicitly recognised and stated "so he can make it mega evolve without the use of a stone" (in the original Japanese version, I don't watch nor care for the dub so idk what they did with the translation there). Ash-Greninja is also explicitly shown as a known thing in history, it's not a thing created by Ash. There are literally pictures of Mega Greninja in the village, Ash merely has the bond to obtain it without the stone.
I doubt they would do this, but it’s a cool idea: Like in the original game, two sets of starters. At the beginning you pick between Snivy, Piplup, and Scorbunny, and they all get “Lumiosian forms”. Then you get to pick between the classic Fennekin, Chespin, and Froakie, and THEY get mega evolutions
Snivy has been leaked to be the Grass starter of ZA and Kalosian Serperior is going to be a Grass/Dragon type and get a Mega evolution, but Torchic is going to be the Fire Starter and Totodile is going to be the Water Starter. As for their fully evolved regional forms, Kalosian Blaziken is going to be a Fire/Fairy type and Kalosian Feraligatr is going to be a Water/Steel type, and both are getting a Mega Evolution. I have to ask on why? Like I get Serperior and Feraligatr should get a Mega Evolution, but not Blaziken. It already has one. And I know it’s new Mega Evolution is going to be for its Regional Form, but the Scorbunny line and the Piplup line would’ve been better as the Fire and Water Starter, respectively.
Its Pokemon Z-A so obviously we need a Mega Charizard A as well. The insistence to overuse Charizard by GameFreak has ruined it for me used to be my favourite Pokemon at gen 6.
This is the best prediction ever (I mean the comment not my prediction) we’ll have: Charizard Z, Charizard XZ/A, Charizard YZ/B or just more random letters
This is gonna be some mental gymnastics, but humor me... Scorbunny line being associated with England can also be a reference to England and France's past history in this case. Since it's mentioned the Kalos used to be at war with another region, but never says with who. The English and French used to have bad blood between them. They would go back and forth between being allies and enemies, so during the peace times it wouldn't sound unusual for a scorbunny or two being brought over from Galar to Kalos.
Not gymnastics at all. It has sense, and I wouldn't be surprised if Galar and Kalos were in a war. But I personally think Paldea could be part of the war too. You mentioned that France and England were enemies and allies in different parts of their story. That's true, but Spain had the same relationship with both of them. I personally think that Kalos and Galar were allies instead of enemies and that the region were fighting was Paldea. I'm sure you have heard the theory of Area Zero been created by the ultimate weapon. Well an another point to see it, is that Area Zero is located in the middle like Madrid, the capital of Spain. Besides, as a Spanish guy, I would fine hilarious that Az tried to destroy both France and Madrid. It would make him the funniest character around.
One thing I should add is that ZA could be a reference to WWII I'm not entirely sure but ZA relates to something from the German Side of the War, sense both France and England were a part of the Allies in WWII, this could be the War that Surge (the Kanto Electric Gym Leader) served in
@@crimsonflame6881 that gave me an idea. It would be cool to have a Pokemon fan game base on Spies during a war. With Frookie, Rowlet and chimchar as starters.
If we go with this, Tepig and Chimchar also makes sense because of the western European aristocrats' obsession with Chinese culture. Especially since China is known for producing well...fine China as well as silk back in the days. France even had a style of art called "Chinoiserie" where they would try to imitate Chinese traditional arts as well as styles but with rococo France aesthetics.
6:05 I think this theory still holds up because they already had a grass starter with rowlet and needed the most popular water type from another region
This was my precise thought. With Rowlet being _more_ popular, it was solidified as the grass starter. Therefore needed a still very popular water starter
also i dont think the final evolution ratings matter that much bc they gave them new forms so it even if they did snivy we probably wouldn’t get the same serperior people know and love
I can't wait to see mega chesnaught, delphox, and Greninja. Because they didn't give the starters megas in the games that introduced megas for some reason.
Kalos is the only region to give us two sets of starters to choose from with the pseudo set receiving megas. Realistically speaking, I feel as though the starters for ancient Kalos will get regional variants, and the gen 6 starters receiving mega evolution
I personally think that both will get mega evos because I think that gamefreak regrets not giving the kalos starters megas. They gave the alola and galor starters Z-moves and gigas respectively, and im assuming that they see not doing the same originally with kalos as a mistake. This way they would fix their mistake both by giving the kalos starters megas and the other starters megas.
If they give gen 6 starts a mega, then they’d probably have to bring back Ash Greninja, since that’s basically been explained to be a mega evolution without a mega/key stone.
@@Hunterjg07 What they are going to probably do is take a lot of inspiration from ash greninja but not be the same design. Ash gren changed to look like ash while i can imagine a mega greninja to have its own style
I have never wanted anything more than a mega evolved Cinderace called Scorby, please it’s perfect!! And maybe they could do something with fondue, idk 🤷♀️ but my adhd brain hasn’t had sleep for sixteen hours fjfjynfngndjwkfn
And a new Evolution Pokemon too, totally different from Persian. They basically tripled down on Meowth. I'm kinda sad they stopped the regional Meowth love with gen 9. I thought they had something fun going with it being the one Pokemon that got a new form each gen, kinda like the Eevee of regional forms
8:52 A quick addition on the origins of the Hisui starters (Gaijin Goombah gave a more detailed explanation of why these guys were chosen so go check out his vid even if it’s old) When it comes to the Culture of Hokkaido, most of the Hisuian Pokémon took inspiration from the Ainu, an indigenous group of people native to Hokkaido, the Kuril Islands and Sakhalin . The starters are not only based on aspects of their culture, but also on specific Kamuy (which are spirits in Ainu culture). Oshawott was chosen because in Ainu culture, Otters played a very important role in creation myths, but also could be a reference to the Kutune Shirka, a story about a boy who was sent to hunt a Golden Otter to gain the hand of a Chief’s daughter in marriage. Rowlet was chosen not only as a reference to Japanese archery, but also because the Ainu themselves were VERY skilled archers. Its also a reference to Chikap Kamuy, the Owl spirit who gives instruction to other Kamuy. Typhlosion has a HELLA TON of inspirations! First, the Hyakki Yagyō/百鬼夜行, an event where a hundred Yokai would terrorize villages either in the form of a Parade or a Riot (which explains Infernal Parade). Its most underrated aspect however is that it took inspiration from Kamuy-Huchi, or the spirit of the Hearth, which serves as a keeper of the gateway between humans and Kamuy. Sorry for the long ass explanation, I just thought it would be cool to fill y’all in with this info cuz the Ainu deserve more attention than they get.
Regarding the reconstruction efforts in Pokémon Z-A, it makes a lot of sense. In the 1800’s Paris underwent a massive urban reconstruction project that made it the Paris we know today (Haussmann’s renovation). It makes sense that we are doing the same kind of thing to Lumiose City, which is based on Paris
Part of the game could also take place in the Pokémon equivalent of the Paris catacombs which were built due to an overload of bodies in the cemeteries and it may be a reason why it solely takes place in Lumiose city.
@@AdrianP3833 Though it is a good idea it might be a little too dark for pokemon but then again there was the kalos war so they could make it for those pokemon if the game is set in that timeframe
I also thought something along the line with "world's fair" when the Eiffel Tower was built. This could help build up the city and also bring in people from other regions. With the next one in Osaka, I can see how it would be on Japan's mind now.
@@hitale1Pokemon has always had Dark themes (lavender town, Burnt Tower, The evil teams in gen1-6) and Legends Arceus explored Pokemon literally killing people so feels like the Legends Series, if nothing else, is happy to explore darker themes.
If the Snivy line is a starter choice in the game... My decision is already made, lol. Gotta go with my snek. It getting a Mega or Regional form would just be icing on the cake.
Honestly same and honestly Snivy kinda deserves the second chance because its matchups in its home region aren't super great. It can't do a whole lot in most of the gyms and team plasma doesn't really count due to largely using the patrat and purrloin families which all three starters can handle with ease.
@@florianstirnemann3357 Most British moment in history, America asked for money to take some land from the French assuming it was for weapons etc, nope they just brought it meaning the UK funded Napleon while fighting him.
he meant it is unlikely that they give a regional form and a mega to the REGIONAL form, like kalosian serperior and mega kalosian serperior. not kalosian serperior and mega unovan serperior
I think they might still get regional forms for the final evo too, that way even when transferring to Pokemon home/newer games in the future, there is still something unique about the fact that they came from a legends game
This was a good video, and a great theory on which starters would most likely be chosen. If this lineup happens, I’ll have a hard choice to make cause these 3 are my favorites from their regions.
At this point I feel it's just as likely Charizard gets a third mega (after all the game is sort of called Z...) As it is for any other Pokémon to get their first
Every time someone mentions French Cinderace, I think about loading it up with headbutt moves and calling it Zidane. The joke is 18 years old at this point, I'm the only person that still finds it funny... but I find it *really* funny.
I love how Mikey is like a Swiss Army knife of Pokémon knowledge. Knows a solid bit abt every kind of Pokémon from play-through to design to competitive/vgc. It gives his content incredible variety!
thats fair, he doesnt know THAT much about vgc and competetive though, hes friends with PM7 and Wolfey so i assume he gets a decent amount of knowledge from them, hes also previously admitted his lack of competetive knowledge, no offense to him, but im just stating what he's said before ( tbf he did compete in a gen 6 tournament with talonflame and did decent)
Also to be fair, that is a gen 6 talonflame, that thing is MEGA overpowered. In case you didn't know, gen 6 talonflame had unnerfed gale wings which gave him priority on EVERY flying type move. That means you can slap a choice band on him and spam priority STAB brave birds with practically no counterplay. You can't burn him since he's a fire type, normal priority moves usually dont work since most mons with priority are slower than talonflame and even his resists can't take more than 2 hits, which means you'd need a mon that quad resists flying to even stay in on him.
That’s the point of the Swiss Army knife comparison. None of the tools on the knife are better than the actual tool. Having all the tools in one place is the luxury. Like Mikey, he’s not the most studied in any one area, but he is knowledgeable enough to be proficient in all areas.
Another point in Scorbunny's favor is "The Scarlet Pimpernel", a story about a English nobleman who goes to France during the French Reign of Terror. So an English character getting up to shenanigans in past France totally fits, too.
@@TheMonkeyKing4My idea is that you don’t get “Ash” forms, but they could still have the battle bond ability. The coloration of the Pokemon’s Battle Bond Features could be based on like a color you select for your trainer passport or something like that.
I agree with this completely, but I also think Popplio has a chance here for the water starter. Between the opera association and the popularity of French dramatization of mermaids, I can see them using Primarina as a nod to the French classical arts.
I think we will mirror some of our experience from Kalos to the Z-A game. In Kalos, we received our starter, then received a Kanto starter, which can Mega-Evolve. With this, I think what will happen is that the Z-A starters will be a regional variant and we will receive a Kalos starter that can Mega Evolve.
That makes so much sense. Especially since in Legends Arceus, you can find all of the Sinnoh starters in the wild, despite them not being the starters of Legends Arceus.
All I know is I'm turning 16 in 2025 meaning I can work meaning I could buy the game meaning I could finally use a braixen one of my favorite Pokemon also I think mega Delphox could be nice
According to leaks, the starters are either the gen 6 starters or people have said it will be treecko, totodile and tepig However, since it is based off of paris, the starters could be scorbunny, piplup and snivy
As you were adding context to the idea of choosing the starters for this game I completely had a "omg Snivy fits so freaking much here" with the popularity + french style of its design. So true. (And also the best GRASS starter of the ones available)
It's good if it had Contrarian ability. I remember benching all starters in Unova back then when I played through the game. It's a defensive Pokemon without Contrarian and is easily walled by Steel types if you didn't have HiddenPower-Fire
10:10 I had never heard about Serperior taking inspiration from Rose Of Versailles and Lady Oscar, but knowing that makes me like it even more now. Lady Oscar is one of my favorite characters in all of anime/manga.
Legends Z-A's starters are Torchic, Piplup, and Snivy. They were prominently featured next to Cyndaquil, Oshawott, and Rowlet respectively, the Legends Arceus starters, at the start of the first Indigo Disk trailer from August 2023.
I had this talk with a friend, and we came up with the idea that they aren't going to do regional variants for the new starters. Instead they are going to use the original gen 6 starters, but give them Mega Evolutions.
While I would agree with that my problem is that its greninja being the only one I have doubts with on that cause of its ash greninja form which is a gen 6 concept first given it was in the anime before popping in the games in gen 7
I wanted for this to happen but it would be weird that they had megas in the past but not in the future, but I guess that with this being a post Scarlet/Violet game they could come up with another time paradox explanation as to why the gen 6 games starters lacked one
I'm genuinely surprised why no one has yapped about how FRICKING Zygarde in its Core form potentially being your second starter alongside whatever starter you get from the ancestor of Prof. Sycamore.
@@tevani1 Exactly. And then some "mysterious" person gives you something similar to the present day Zygarde Cube and then you collect cells like you do in USUM(Ultra Sun & Ultra Moon).
@@doomlord0773Popplio turn into Primarina, and it's signature Opera themed attack made me think of it more than Napoleon Empoleon. Something stronger than Football Scorbunny is Baker Emboar. I never really saw the Chinese inspiration on Emboar, but everyone I see it, I saw a chubby, Pig Baker/Smith. Another to change would be Royal Snivy for Floral Meganium. Snivy might be regal, but flowers were huge because of the Bubonic Plague and people placed flowers to help fight miasma.
I missed snivy. It hasn't appeared since what. Like white 2? Maybe alola? It's been gone a while. It was my starter in my first playthrough of both Black and white 2
It would be interesting to have Chespin, Fennekin and Froakie available with the idea you join one of the clans (ninja, mage or knight). Which allows you to have a special bond with one of them similar to ash greninja. You would be the last of the lineage to share this bond with the partner pokemon because the clans disappeared after the war. The only reason we would have the Ash Greninja bond in the future is because the Ninja went into hiding after the war.
I’m betting that they took the time to retcon Ash Greninja so they could give all three Kalos starters megas, as well as avoiding the weird interactions with Ash-Greninja and mega evolution simultaneously.
Wow, I was thinking almost exactly the same thing. The hardest part was thinking, "if they give them new final evos, what could they be and how would that effect starter choice." But Snivy and Piplup definitely seem like they would fit the best. Scorbunny definitely looks like it completes the trio and they may decide to do with it simply because we just had a cat starter in the previous game.
@@Nightlingbolt And not only both the fact that it would mean 2 cat starters in a row, nor the fact of the menace Incineroar is, but also because it would mean that one of Galar's starters would get a secondary typing. With PLA, both Cyndaquil and Oshawott's non-regional forms are solo-typed. If this combination happens, there's a few factors that will be consistent with the Hisui trios, like how both Johto and Galar are probably the least popular sets of starter trios, as well as both sets not gaining a single additional typing anywhere along the way.
He wasn't talking about giving two forms to one pokemon but giving an alternate form to an alternate form in the same generation like giving a GMAX form to Galarian Zapdos.
Snivy - it’s based on french royalty Piplup - it’s based on a French emporer Torchic - it’s based in the French national animal These three were also shown alongside the hisui starters, gamefreak cannot spell it out any more
5:04 It also seems that the game is based on the Haussmanization of Paris, which took place in the 19th century (Actually during the "reign" of Napoleon III). This can also be seen in the architecture of the initial sketch shown, which is very distinctly of that era (and is what Paris looks like in the modern day).
I'd love Meganium to get some attention, Ground/Dragon secondary type variant with a more prehistoric look maybe but I doubt Mega Meganium would be a thing
@@jamesperrott1this would be incredibly obvious hinting, which wouldnt be off for pokemon. Im completely goinb by the idea that they already had these things thought out by then, and added it in for fun.
I highly doubt Torchic is going to be one of the starters. It wouldn’t make sense to have one starter that has a mega while the other two don’t. That would ruin the balance of the starters. And if we get *new* megas for the starters, then it wouldn’t make sense for two of them to get *new* megas while the other one *already* has a mega. So unless Torchic will get a *second* mega like Charizard and the other two get new megas, I highly doubt that’ll be the trio.
All other comments are bashing this post, but I agree. Snivy and piplup in particular work super well, both of them being based of the French once fully evolved
I agree with you that this set of startes seems to make the most sense. Also I would LOVE Snivy as an option, Serpiroyal is my favourite starter evolution. But I could also see the trio being Snivy, Popplio (music and musical theatre is a big deal in Europe and in the 19th century Paris along with Vieanna have been THE dities for arts and music) and Chimchar as France has - especially in arts - a conenction to eastern countries such as China and Japan. French gangster and noir films are directly inspired by Japanese samurai films for example (as opposed to American gangster films).
Litten could also have a chance since 'Le chat Noir' wich meand black cat. It has some franchise of whatever in Paris also. Not sure about the history though.
I would not be disappointed in that as Chikorita is my second favorite starter line only behind the one I want more... Snivy, whose line is just my favorite in all of Pokemon.
I watched a video where someone noted that in the Indigo Disk trailer it featured the Arceus starters paired up with another pokemon (Snivy, Torchic, and Piplup). They theorize that this could be the new starter trio which would match Michael’s prediction minus Torchic.
It's too bad Rowlet was already used in PLA. I would absolutely love to see a game with Rowlet, Torchic, and Piplup as the starters. Not only are they three of my favorite starters, but it'd be hilarious to watch a Team Sky playthrough of the game and have TS Mikey distraught over the fact that all three starters are birds but none have the flying type in their final evolutions. 😂
These are my predictions too. Although it's worth pointing out that the rooster is Frances national animal, so torchic seems like a viable option as well.
Plus, they’re not going to have 2 of the starters be the same type of anime: birds(Piplup/penguin and Torchic/chicken)
Tbh I think it’s also suspicious how in the indigo disc trailer torchic, piplup and snivy were paired with the hisuian starters and then we continued to get empolion and blaziken 7 star raids for no reason.. especially since this next legends game is going to be the next instalment after indigo disc, I just think it’s too random for those 3 to be paired with the hisuian starters in the trailer
@@AJwx291 I highly doubt they’d add a new regional variant that *takes away* a mega. That would be unprecedented and would p¡ss off mega Blaziken fans. We’ve never seen mega evolutions that are exclusive to specific regional variants. You guys are grasping at straws.
Honestly I'd love Chikorita to be in the game. I love that line, and it has potential. This game could give the attention and love that Meganium needs. But, my second favorite grass starter is Snivy (Bulbasaur being the first), so I wouldn't mind content of them.
I agree with your picks, but wrestling was invented in france. The oldest depiction of wrestling is from a cave in France and the theatrical style of wrestling that Incineroar is based on was invented in 1830 France by Jean Exbroyat. Because of this I would not be surprised if we see Litten in the starter line up.
Game Freak is so unpredictable and the trailer is so vague that I think they might really surprise us, making a game not as close to Legends Arceus as we all think and even changing the starters formula, like Colosseum did with Umbreon and Espeon. The game is already taking place in a single city, so it cannot be as similar to Legends Arceus. Why wouldn't they change more things?
@@What-ishI think what that means is that the wild areas of the game will be the surrounding areas that will become a part of lumiose city. Because how can a game take place in a city that hasn’t been fully built yet.
@@AllanWolfe Paris is ancient mate. It's been there a LONG time. It can be done. I just don't know how catching and battling is going to...work. And after the graphical nightmares of S/V, I foresee a LOT of clipping.
Going by your logic choices, i guess i'm picking Piplup. Piplup was always my go-to when it came to the Sinnoh games because it became an instant favorite of mine due to the cartoon. Dawn's Piplup is the best
@@bigbob123mamatata2 yeah, i was thinking piplup as well, i think it would be cool if empoleon got a physical counterpart to its regular stats where it has an actual trident as a weapon would be fire
I was thinking the same thing, though I do hope they don't alter Empoleon's design too much in the final evolution. Empoleon is a practically perfect design imo.
I think there is actually a good reason for why Litten might be chosen. I saw this video years ago talking about why so many European flags have lions and it was because there was a species native to Europe or something, but then they all died out or something. So Litten’s evolutionary line being lion/tiger and being in legends Kalos would make sense, I think.
France and lions do have a connection but I think that would be avoided with it's stronger connection to England, Being the national animal and Richard of Lionheart.
And they are all different animals, Serperior is a snake (reptile), Cinderace is a rabbit/bunny (mammal), and Empoleon is a penguin (bird). Also I like all of these options so that's an added bonus
I believe it's torchic, snivy, and piplup. Piplup is practically napoleon. Torchic cause it did have a mega, and the rooster is the national bird of france. And snivy because it's based off of France warriors. Also, if you look at the 2nd indigo disk trailer, they are the starters of their respective type in the trailer, paired with Oshawott, Rowlet, and And cyndaquil. Which were the previous legend starters.
When will guys stop choosing Pokémon that are the best already with there design have mega evolutions gigantamax and give starters that are bad a chance
I think we might only get 1/3 the Kalos Dex. Or roughly about 1/3 the Kalos Dex... The game is centered on Lumiose City, so the largest chunk of the Z-A Dex will most likely be the "Central" Dex (151~ Kalos Dex mon) With a small handful of Pokémon from the Mountain Dex and Coastal Dex of Kalos. Notes: *The Kanto Mega Trio of Starters are part of the Central Dex, and the Kalos Trio are part of the Coastal/Mountain Dex(?)* If we get EVERY Mega in Z-A, then we might be able to CATCH the Hoenn Mega Trio as well. (Specifically because we could get the Torchic gift for XY's Launch.) *We WON'T get to CHOOSE any of the 3 Gen 6 Trios as our Legends: Z-A Starters However, those will be the mixed Batch like in Legends: Arceus.* - Mixed (Legends): Snivy, Scorbunny, Piplup ^(Most likely Trio) 1. Chespin, Fennekin, Froakie ^(Gift Trio/Catchable in the Wild) 2. Bulbasaur, Charmander, Squirtle ^(Probably imported by the "Evil" Team/Researchers?) 3. Treecko, Torchic, Mudkip ^(Imported by Researchers/Evil Team?) This way, you can choose a very Mega/"Battle Bond" Heavy Team throughout the Game...
I have a feeling that if Scorbunny is chosen as one of the starters and gets either a new final evolution or mega evolution, that it will get the electric typing. Especially since in Lumiose City ( which is the city the trailer shows ) in X and Y, the gym leader there is Clemont. Which is an electric type specialist and since it seems the game might be about helping build Lumiose City, most likely would involve electricity since the time the game takes place seems to be more in the future or advanced than what’s happening in the Hisui region. Idk it’s just a theory, a game theory if you will.
Honestly before cinderace was officially revealed I had thought it was possible that scorbunny’s line got electric type, it would be cool to see it happen
10:31 There’s nothing we could do “Dans mon esprit tout divague, je me perds dans tes yeux” (I think that’s the line from the meme, but I don’t speak French so I’m not 100% sure, forgive me if I’m wrong)
Scorbunny also follows the theme of having a starter from the previous generation in a Legends game that Arceus had with Rowlet and seeing how the fire starter is the only one in question that pretty guarantees it gets in over Litten.
So on the topic of Scorbunny being a starter. Since Arceus took place at the turn of the 20th century and the Eifill Tower was built in 1889 around that same time period, it's probable Z-A will also take place in a similar time period which could give us some hints to possible regional forms (or mega forms) as three major sporting events began or were happening in that time. The French Open (1891): one of four "Grand Slam" Tennis events The Tour de France (1903): The oldest of the three major bicycle tours in Europe. The 1900 Olympics: Which was held in conjunction with the 1900 World's Fair in Paris that included a Marathon through Paris (won by a Frenchman) and the First Olympic football (soccer) tournament. Either way I love the idea of Scorbunny representing the growing importance of Sports in France at the turn of the century.
Also, if regional variants exist for the starters, there's also savate, a French martial arts that incorporates kicking, so Cinderace can be Fire/Fighting.
@ericstelzman5190 However, they're avoiding the starter type combo of Fire/Fighting for a reason. There are already 3 Fire/Fighting starters (namely Blaziken, Infernape, and Emboar), and a fourth one would trigger Pokéfans no matter how much time passes since the last Fire/Fighting starter was created.
I think any starter combo that's not just kalos starters but with mega evolutions would be a disgrace. Kalos kickstarter the regional gimmick thingy and kalos starters not getting a mega form has always been a bummer.
What theyre probably gonna do is the same as x and y but legends so you get the legends kind of starter choices, then maybe they let you get another set of starters that are just the gen 6 starters but now they have the megas instead of the gen 1 starters
@@estaveler3288 Exactly my thoughts, I hope we get Legends special starters with Snivy Piplup and Scorbunny having regional forms and then we get a second set of starters with the OG kalos starters getting a Mega. Also, justice for mega flygon
@@estaveler3288Maybe as a call back to X and Y you get 2 starters. The regional Variant ones and the OG gen 6 starters with new megas (like how you got the Kanto starters with mega forms). Though to be honest I'd prefer the Gen 6 starters with regional variants somehow because other than Greninja all the 3rd evolutions were kind of a flop.
Just a small note, the premier league graphic shown at 11:15 show the teams competing in the premier league for the 2020/21 season not the current 23/24 season 😅 Nice video though and good predictions! Hope to see some of them come true ❤
I think the popularity theory still works. Since samurott was second most popular in its home region behind serperior, they could’ve just already had chosen rowlett and couldn’t use serperior
Me and my brother, after when we watched Zactoshi's reaction, were theorising what starters there are and we came to the conclusion of Scorbunny, Piplup and Chikorita
6:15 Well for Hisui the starters all came from region’s Cynthia had previously travelled to. So we can potentially guess what starters are going to show up based on whatever region has been frequented by another prominent character whose roots are based in Kalos. (Or Looker because he’s been globe trotting way more than Cynthia)
I mean... taking that into consideration, a Sinnoh starter is pretty much a given then. Sycamore studied under Rowan and Wulfrics ancestor was in Legends Arceus.
Here's what I think. We will choose one of the Kalos Starters. The reason we had the diff trio in PLA is that they had no Pokeballs yet to capture the local wildlife and that Rowlett, Cyndaquil and Oshawott were all brought by the professor. Now that they have Pokeballs, it is possible for the Kalos people to catch and breed the local wildlife, thus, the Kalos starters. But thats just a theory 😅
i'm actually okay with them going for kalos starter, they deserved more love tbh (specifically chespin and fennekin). Heck even give them a new mega form and i'm still fine with it, which is something they should've done when they're introducing megas instead of giving it to the kanto starter
fun fact! in the indigo disk trailer, Rowlet was shown alongside Snivy, Oshawott was shown alongside Piplup, and Cyndaquil was shown alongside... Torchic. this does not seem like coincidence to me
Knowing how much people like Charizard he might get a Z mega form same with mewtwo as well and I’m really hoping that the original gen 6 starters get some sort of mega form
@arthurrezende4943 Except your last win was back in 2002 and Brazil often underperforms afterwards. There are also fewer Brazilians among current best players compare to before. I'm not saying I don't respect that 5 world cup wins, but if you aren't humble, the crown of the Football Kingdom can be easily taken by say, Argentina
I also think Variants for the 2nd Stage/Middle Form Starters could be a new Twist--along with the 3rd Stage/Final Form Starters being entirely NEW/"Old?" Pokémon NEVER SEEN BEFORE. Chespin (Grass) -> Quilladin (Grass/Steel) -> "Armodillo"/"Chestank" (Grass/Steel) Fennekin (Fire) -> Braixen (Fire/Fairy) -> "Aurorsune"/"Kitsura" (Fire/Fairy) Froakie (Water) -> Frogadier (Water/Poison) -> "Bombakage"/"Toxikage" (Water/Poison) With the Modern Variant/Evo Pokémon not getting Megas, but being represented in the MEGAS. [MEGA] Armodillo/Chestank Fighting/Steel [MEGA] Aurorsune/Kitsura Psychic/Fairy [MEGA] Bombakage/Toxikage Dark/Poison With the Megas taking on more of the aspects and Secondary Types of the Modern Pokémon.
9:30 unova did not get skipped, if we follow the pattern a unova remake could come after mainline generation 10, not now also i could see them repeating the Kalos starters with new megas seeing as none of the pokemon introduced in Kalos got standard Megas (ash-greninja being a special outlier during ORAS)
I would assume the starters have a regional form AND a mega. I assume the mega stones are going to be a magic rock, and something gives it that power to make it react to that certain pokémon. Having new forms for the starters would mean the stone would only react to that form - hence why there's no mega for those starters in the future Kalos (and also because they aren't in Kalos at all). This also means we won't miss out on transferring these starters to a different game, having a unique appearance, but just no mega.
@@unsoftened8630 yes. In PLA chimchar can be gotten as part of a sidequest quite early (as such they can be found in the wild at Ramanas island but you need surf for it which you only get mid game)
Great reasoning! I’d say this is very likely! To play devil’s advocate though: Since those Pokemon are already so French inspired they may take the ones that could add new inspirations so maybe we’re all thinking too heavily into previous French inspired Pokemon?
I think we will be choosing 2 starter Pokémon again like we did in X and Y. We first choose from Snivy, Scorbunny, and Piplup, as their final evolutions will get regional forms. We then choose from the Kalos starters (Chespin, Fennekin, and Froakie) as their final evolutions will get Mega Evolutions.
This would be so cool!
I was thinking along these lines as well. I really do hope the Kalos starters finally get their megas as they were glossed over in their OG game.
Oh. I like this idea.
I think the kalos starter will get a mega but most likely they will be catchable in the wild and not gave away like they did with the kanto and kalos starters in X and Y.
Yes, I'm thinking that or give all three Kalos starters Battle Bond transformations.
FINALLY AN ACTUAL SPECULATION VIDEO ON STARTERS ON THIS GAME THANK YOU FOR THIS
It's been all around including by HoopsandHipHop and these are the picks for the majority of people who don't think it's just going to be the Kalos starters with Megas.
Hoops and Hip Hop has one with literally the exact same set
totodile, chikarita, chimchar, piplup, turtwig, tepig, snivy, litten, poplio, grookey, scorbunny, and sobble are the most likely
I like this idea a lot actually
Alain in the anime explicitly recognised and stated "so he can make it mega evolve without the use of a stone" (in the original Japanese version, I don't watch nor care for the dub so idk what they did with the translation there). Ash-Greninja is also explicitly shown as a known thing in history, it's not a thing created by Ash. There are literally pictures of Mega Greninja in the village, Ash merely has the bond to obtain it without the stone.
Btw if you fuse this concept with the war concept you would get a pretty good history.
@@SeaOfPixelsI do believe he said something similar in the dub.
I doubt they would do this, but it’s a cool idea:
Like in the original game, two sets of starters. At the beginning you pick between Snivy, Piplup, and Scorbunny, and they all get “Lumiosian forms”. Then you get to pick between the classic Fennekin, Chespin, and Froakie, and THEY get mega evolutions
Smart
But what about the Hoenn and Kanto starters? I guess we gotta hunt them in the wild later?
@@LiamFSkyhunter probably just be transferable and you'll be able to find their mega stones in game.
No
Snivy has been leaked to be the Grass starter of ZA and Kalosian Serperior is going to be a Grass/Dragon type and get a Mega evolution, but Torchic is going to be the Fire Starter and Totodile is going to be the Water Starter.
Now just watch as Game Freak unveils Mega Charizard Z and Mega Mewtwo Z.
It wouldn't surprise me
"We could have done something new, but instead we gave another mega evolution to the only 2 pokemon that already have 2!"
Oh god😂
Its Pokemon Z-A so obviously we need a Mega Charizard A as well. The insistence to overuse Charizard by GameFreak has ruined it for me used to be my favourite Pokemon at gen 6.
Oh my fucking god i'd die on the spot.
Charizard getting 24 new megas for every letter
It's gonna be charmander. For all three of them. Each one having a different mega evolution once it becomes charizard.
Lmfao
Mega Charizard Z, Mega Charizard -, and Mega Charizard A
This is the best prediction ever (I mean the comment not my prediction) we’ll have: Charizard Z, Charizard XZ/A, Charizard YZ/B or just more random letters
so funny i forgot to laugh
literally oh god no
This is gonna be some mental gymnastics, but humor me...
One thing I should add is that ZA could be a reference to WWII
I'm not entirely sure but ZA relates to something from the German Side of the War, sense both France and England were a part of the Allies in WWII, this could be the War that Surge (the Kanto Electric Gym Leader) served in
Let's be honest, y'all: Kalos, Galar, AND Paldea are all probably involved
@@crimsonflame6881 that gave me an idea. It would be cool to have a Pokemon fan game base on Spies during a war. With Frookie, Rowlet and chimchar as starters.
If we go with this, Tepig and Chimchar also makes sense because of the western European aristocrats' obsession with Chinese culture. Especially since China is known for producing well...fine China as well as silk back in the days. France even had a style of art called "Chinoiserie" where they would try to imitate Chinese traditional arts as well as styles but with rococo France aesthetics.
I used to watch you in ELEMENTARY school, im in college now bro. This list is so fire I hope they follow it!

Cool.
Thats what i was thinking lol

Ariana what are you doing here
I love how Mega Empoleon isn't even an option here, it's just MEGA PIPLUP
I can't wait to see mega chesnaught, delphox, and Greninja.
Because they didn't give the starters megas in the games that introduced megas for some reason.
You mean Empoleon?
Honestly yes. Mega Piplup.
I'd love this because I need to see Mega Delphox flying on a broom.
I highly suspect this as well. Either that or just the kalos starters with mega evolutions.
@@Hunterjg07 What they are going to probably do is take a lot of inspiration from ash greninja but not be the same design. Ash gren changed to look like ash while i can imagine a mega greninja to have its own style

You could argue Meowth in Galar had two forms at the same time, a regional variant and a GMax
Dont forget Charizard got dual-megas

8:52 A quick addition on the origins of the Hisui starters (Gaijin Goombah gave a more detailed explanation of why these guys were chosen so go check out his vid even if it’s old)
When it comes to the Culture of Hokkaido, most of the Hisuian Pokémon took inspiration from the Ainu, an indigenous group of people native to Hokkaido, the Kuril Islands and Sakhalin .

My inner Frenchman died with that Paris-Saint Germain pronunciation

You can't burn him since he's a fire type, normal priority moves usually dont work since most mons with priority are slower than talonflame and even his resists can't take more than 2 hits, which means you'd need a mon that quad resists flying to even stay in on him.
what's most impressive is that he know that Andre the giant was french

My exact thoughts! It is the perfect starter for a legends Carlos game. It literally is the French.
It's good if it had Contrarian ability. I remember benching all starters in Unova back then when I played through the game. It's a defensive Pokemon without Contrarian and is easily walled by Steel types if you didn't have HiddenPower-Fire

Wow, I was thinking almost exactly the same thing. The hardest part was thinking, "if they give them new final evos, what could they be and how would that effect starter choice."
But Snivy and Piplup definitely seem like they would fit the best. Scorbunny definitely looks like it completes the trio and they may decide to do with it simply because we just had a cat starter in the previous game.
That, and there’s probably no point in making a new Incineroar form when the one we already have is a competitive menace as is.

Mega Meganium, Dragoniteite, and Mega Charizard Z are the funniest memes out of Legends Z-A
Mega yanmega would be fun

I saw a tweet that showed how in the indigo disk trailer, they showed Rowlet with Snivy, Cyndiquil with Torchic, and Piplup with Oshawott.
anyone believint that means ANYTHING let alone is hinting at these starters is utterly stupid plain and simple.
@@Hawkcam1996 except, new forms are a thing. Form specific megas wouldnt offer the slightest problem.
Ima gaslight myself into beliving Chikorita and Mega Meganium are gonna be in the games, thank you very much and have a nice day
You do you, my friend, I will be doing the same for Ash Greninja.
Same
I don’t like that the chances of it happening are slim but I’d love it if Meganium gets a mega regardless
Greninja most likely wont be in the game it technically has a mega with ash-greninja but also could just say thats a form or ability
That would work, but I highly doubt they would do 2 bird starters in 1 trio.
@@AllenMS828While that's true he knwos that Decidueye is still able to FLY and thus can take to the SKY!
These are my predictions too. Although it's worth pointing out that the rooster is Frances national animal, so torchic seems like a viable option as well.
@@Hawkcam1996 The starters might just get regional forms instead. We will have regular Blaziken that mega evolves and Kalosean Blaziken that doesn't.
We will finally get that rooster Pokemon that we were expecting
@@AJwx291 I highly doubt they’d add a new regional variant that *takes away* a mega. That would be unprecedented and would p¡ss off mega Blaziken fans. We’ve never seen mega evolutions that are exclusive to specific regional variants. You guys are grasping at straws.

Emboar: its literally a giant, like a furnace
Serperior: Its just royalty
Primarina: musical, thats it
I love that the Z in the reveal for Legends Z-A has the same design as Zyguard
That..that was the point lol
so excited for this game, and I really hope the Snivy line is one of the starters, it’s been so long 😭
Honestly I'd love Chikorita to be in the game. I love that line, and it has potential. This game could give the attention and love that Meganium needs. But, my second favorite grass starter is Snivy (Bulbasaur being the first), so I wouldn't mind content of them.
Grass fairy
I agree with your picks, but wrestling was invented in france. The oldest depiction of wrestling is from a cave in France and the theatrical style of wrestling that Incineroar is based on was invented in 1830 France by Jean Exbroyat. Because of this I would not be surprised if we see Litten in the starter line up.
On top of this Paris is known for stray cats, especially in the Montmartre area
Game Freak is so unpredictable and the trailer is so vague that I think they might really surprise us, making a game not as close to Legends Arceus as we all think and even changing the starters formula, like Colosseum did with Umbreon and Espeon. The game is already taking place in a single city, so it cannot be as similar to Legends Arceus. Why wouldn't they change more things?
We don't know that. We know Lumiose City will be prominent but we don't know it will be the only part we visit.
@ntolman Nintendo made a tweet for the trailer that says the game is "set entirely within Lumiose City".
@@What-ishI think what that means is that the wild areas of the game will be the surrounding areas that will become a part of lumiose city. Because how can a game take place in a city that hasn’t been fully built yet.

Also, IDK if Scorebunny's concept of being a soccer play would fit in Legends ZA. It's too modern and contemporary.

This is actually a really interesting detail. I didn't notice! XD
After 11 years, we finally have Pokémon Z.

It's been 3000 years...

I like this theory too, but I think they’ll get new forms instead of mega, and torchic won’t have a mega anymore.

I think we might only get 1/3 the Kalos Dex. Or roughly about 1/3 the Kalos Dex...
The game is centered on Lumiose City, so the largest chunk of the Z-A Dex will most likely be the "Central" Dex (151~ Kalos Dex mon)
With a small handful of Pokémon from the Mountain Dex and Coastal Dex of Kalos.
Notes:
*The Kanto Mega Trio of Starters are part of the Central Dex, and the Kalos Trio are part of the Coastal/Mountain Dex(?)*
If we get EVERY Mega in Z-A, then we might be able to CATCH the Hoenn Mega Trio as well. (Specifically because we could get the Torchic gift for XY's Launch.)
*We WON'T get to CHOOSE any of the 3 Gen 6 Trios as our Legends: Z-A Starters However, those will be the mixed Batch like in Legends: Arceus.*
- Mixed (Legends): Snivy, Scorbunny, Piplup ^(Most likely Trio)
1. Chespin, Fennekin, Froakie
^(Gift Trio/Catchable in the Wild)
2. Bulbasaur, Charmander, Squirtle
^(Probably imported by the "Evil" Team/Researchers?)
3. Treecko, Torchic, Mudkip
^(Imported by Researchers/Evil Team?)
This way, you can choose a very Mega/"Battle Bond" Heavy Team throughout the Game...
3:51 I’m so glad you clarified that.
Seeing Treecko crossed out in the thumbnail scared me
username checks out
I have a feeling that if Scorbunny is chosen as one of the starters and gets either a new final evolution or mega evolution, that it will get the electric typing.
10:31 There’s nothing we could do “Dans mon esprit tout divague, je me perds dans tes yeux”
(I think that’s the line from the meme, but I don’t speak French so I’m not 100% sure, forgive me if I’m wrong)
I really love history I also learned that I’m related to napoleon short kings for life
It needs to be prends
3:11 they could just do mega evolution for the kalos starters and regional variants for the Z-a starters
Scorbunny also follows the theme of having a starter from the previous generation in a Legends game that Arceus had with Rowlet and seeing how the fire starter is the only one in question that pretty guarantees it gets in over Litten.
thats not a pattern though lol thats a one off, too hard to tell at this point
So on the topic of Scorbunny being a starter.
Since Arceus took place at the turn of the 20th century and the Eifill Tower was built in 1889 around that same time period, it's probable Z-A will also take place in a similar time period which could give us some hints to possible regional forms (or mega forms) as three major sporting events began or were happening in that time.
The French Open (1891): one of four "Grand Slam" Tennis events
The Tour de France (1903): The oldest of the three major bicycle tours in Europe.
The regional Variant ones and the OG gen 6 starters with new megas (like how you got the Kanto starters with mega forms). yea its funny how None of the Gen 6 pokemon got a mega
Except for Diancie and she was an Event pokemon
Honestly I think that we will get the Kalos with they're new mega as the second set meanwhile the first set will remain regional forms.
1:44 Pokémon oras also had this as you could pick a gen 2 starter when you start the post game
Just a small note, the premier league graphic shown at 11:15 show the teams competing in the premier league for the 2020/21 season not the current 23/24 season 😅 Nice video though and good predictions! Hope to see some of them come true ❤
Cinderace should be a tennis player in Pokemon ZA because of the "Tennis Court Oath" in the French revolution
I think the popularity theory still works. Since samurott was second most popular in its home region behind serperior, they could’ve just already had chosen rowlett and couldn’t use serperior
Please let popplio be a starter 🙏 anyone agree?
I want the starters to be serpirior primarina and chimchar
Yes
6:25 the reason they chose Oshowatt over Snivy is because Rowlet and Decidueye were more popular!
And we can't have 2 Grass starters
Loved the detective work here! Rooting to see what the real choices are.
Me and my brother, after when we watched Zactoshi's reaction, were theorising what starters there are and we came to the conclusion of
Scorbunny, Piplup and Chikorita
If Cinderace becomes a starts and ends up getting a mega evolution, then Cinderace will be my all time favorite Pokémon
I think it’ll be piplup, Snivy, and then a fire type. The final forms are partially based on French stuff
A game theory!
They had pokeballs in LA?
i'm actually okay with them going for kalos starter, they deserved more love tbh (specifically chespin and fennekin).
Torchic. this does not seem like coincidence to me
To me it does considering that the dlc is based on gen 5s region and legends Z-A is gen 6

Chespin (Grass) -> Quilladin (Grass/Steel) -> "Armodillo"/"Chestank" (Grass/Steel)
Fennekin (Fire) -> Braixen (Fire/Fairy) -> "Aurorsune"/"Kitsura" (Fire/Fairy)
Froakie (Water) -> Frogadier (Water/Poison) -> "Bombakage"/"Toxikage" (Water/Poison)
With the Modern Variant/Evo Pokémon not getting Megas, but being represented in the MEGAS.
[MEGA] Armodillo/Chestank
Fighting/Steel
[MEGA] Aurorsune/Kitsura
Psychic/Fairy
[MEGA] Bombakage/Toxikage
Dark/Poison
With the Megas taking on more of the aspects and Secondary Types of the Modern Pokémon.
9:30 unova did not get skipped, if we follow the pattern a unova remake could come after mainline generation 10, not now
also i could see them repeating the Kalos starters with new megas seeing as none of the pokemon introduced in Kalos got standard Megas (ash-greninja being a special outlier during ORAS)
1:50 honestly would be cool if they gave us two starters as well in this game
technically you could catch all of the sinnoh starters in the wild quite early especially chimchar which u can get from a sidequest.
