thank you for such a great comparison in the rice cooking methods!
This was a great video on cooking rice, very thorough and educational. I like the way you explained the 2 methods of cooking rice (draining and absorbtion).
you are a real chef.. Ur enthusiasm shows it
Really nicely done. You explained everything so well.
Mr Chef i love you how you explain the way of cooking. Its every one can understand.
Thanks. Happy cooking
VahChef thanks
For the absorption method you could also, rinse the rice through a strainer for a few minutes then you could use less water for lighter fluffier rice to just a little more than 1 to 1 ratio. Reduce heat to low after it boils( and you cover the top) and let it cook for 15 minutes. Then turn the heat off while keeping the lid on and let it sit for another 15 to 20 minutes. You only need slightly more than 1 to 1 ratio of rice to water if you are cooking short grain rice. This is the method taught at" Fortunecooking" on YT and it works great!
i just love your great presentation .. 😉
We have new videos uploaded every day please share it with friends
thanks great video and great chef you are the best my friend the best
Thanks. Happy cooking
How many of you watching after 12 years 2020
Dear Sanjay, I am from Hyderabad and traveled around the world. Having accustomed to cook Karnool and other older rices in India, It is real challenge to cook various varieties of only rices that are available in different countries. If there is a chance we will try to procure Basmathi, while cooking, but it is not the case every time. We used draining, absorption, adding oil, salt, but with keen follow up too while cooking, we end up with some bad results. Why don't you tell people to cook challenging rice like in Japan & Thailand. We appreciate your efforts in giving many Indians working around the world to eat home food.
Ok just heard how much u put in. Thank u for the great detailed vid, great chef

I've been told that vinegar helps keep the rice firm. How do you handle the vinegar in each of these methods?
I always cook rice with absorption method, but first I fry the rise a little on some ghee and then I add the water, the rest it's pretty much the same
Should we roast the soaked rice or dry rice to make it fluffy?
hi chef pls tell is kolam rice good for health or basmati rice.
Thanks, this was very helpful. I usually cook sushi rice using the absorption method but did not know that Bamati rice could also be cooked this way. Today I am preparing Thai curry and will cook rice this way. Va Chef, do you like Thai curry?

Sir You are very young in this video
Excellent job!!! :)
this is great
In one of your videos you mentioned if we didn't find scented good quality rice we can add some rose flower and a second ingredient that I had not heard before so I could not figure out what it was. Could you let me please know what the second ingredient was?
it’s Kewra Water.
Don theme music at the end was a nice touch chef :) Informative video. Thanks !
hello what kind brand name of basmati rice are you used
Which one would be good for Basmati ? A friend suggested that absorption method is better. Because draining the water is not good for Basmati, as the water takes away the distinct smell of the rice.. But I get unbroken and separate rice grains only in draining method.
once you master the absortion method with a quality basmati you’ll get perfect long unbroken grain as well.
Hi Chef, coming from the Middle East ,we eat rice on daily basis , i cook India Gate basmati or Tilda, however I would like to know if you recommend a brand that doesn't get mushy quickly.
Thank you

he said it in the video. 1 : 1,5 water. but try 1 : 1,25 water after one hour soaked. depend of each basmati too.
His mouth got waterd when he said that next session we will prepare biryani
It was very helpful for me in making my biryani perfect.. Thank you so much
