The Angel face you see is the Haserot, named “The Angel of Death Victorious". The stoic angel is seated on the marble gravestone of canning entrepreneur Francis Haserot and his family. Holding an extinguished torch upside-down, it represents a symbol of life extinguished. Wings are outstretched and the gaze is straight ahead.
IN THE END, DEATH ALWAYS WINS. LEST THE FACES NOT BE FORGOTTEN...
This channel is focused on casually walking and viewing a handful of the thousands of forgotten names and faces at various cemeteries near and afar. Seeing their faces up close. And when able, telling the stories behind their names.
Most graves are unknown and lost to history.
Some are famous.
And some infamous....
....and some with tragic endings.
#graves #cemeteries #death
The worst fire in WI happened on the night of Oct. 8-9, 1871, this fire destroyed in two hours a swath of forest 10 miles wide and 40 miles long and obliterated the towns of Peshtigo and Brussels, killing about 1,500 people. It happened the same day as the Great Chicago Fire and killed more people but you never hear about it.
it has been on my list, thx
Watching the replay since I missed the live, absolutely love that you're leaving the information sheet at the greaves!
I'm watching replay too
Ooops my bad... So sorry I missed the live! Hello from 107 degree Temple Texas. To be truthful I was outdoors doing a rain dance and uttering prayers for rain and I missed you.
We're in real trouble here, and today is the first day we've even come close to rain since June. Our lake (Belton) is largely dried up.
I'm loving the stories with the documentation and the fact you leave it for others to read. That is such a wonderful thing to do.
You're the best Ron. Safe travels my friend. I was born in Arizona and grew up in New Mexico, so I know what a lovely winter awaits you there! Keep up the good work, and we'll all be here looking over your shoulder!
Sorry I missed your Sunday walk. I had to go to the pharmacy, and Lord it is hot in San Antonio, Texas! My car said 107 degrees! I'm glad to be back in the air conditioning and saw your show in comfort! Take care of yourself Ron. I'll be watching your premiere tonight at 8.
Here Houston today felt like 110, couldn't breathe with this awful heat. Stay cool.
I live in San Antonio Texas to it to 🔥🥵
Love these Sunday shows.
You need to stop in Kansas near the Santa Fe Trail, where buffalo soldiers were buried and later moved to Ft Leavenworth. So much history in that area. It is made into a park area along the river. An old soldier camp was there and fort area where many pioneers stopped. Southeast of Little River, KS.
Hi Ron I miss your live show but it's is a great story I love history and you are my best stories teller. So far you are the greatest ❤️ ron
Every time you do these I'm so interested in all the history! A lot of times I go and do my own research to read about these events after I listen to your stories! I ❤your channel! Sorry I missed the live 😊
Hi Ron, I love going for walks with you everyday, you are the best true story teller and so respectful of the living and the people who have unfortunately passed...I look forward to walking with you for a lot longer .
So excited about this Halloween 🎃 can't wait! Looking forward to seeing what you have prepaid for us to watch!
I love Halloween anyway, have loved all the fun and mystery since I was a kid and the way Ron treats it just brings it all back for me ! Goodbye merciless summer heat, fall cannot come soon enough!!! 🎃🎃🎃
You have such a gift for telling stories. Not only do you have a great speaking voice but a knack for grabbing and holding people's attention. Thank you.
Good to see you, Ron! So excited to watch this video and tonight’s!
Enjoyed walk and stories of Wisconsin north woods cemetery & the now not forgotten❤
Hi Ron I am Sandra from South Africa love your show thank you
My family had property around Phillips when I was growing up. Beautiful country, good fishing. Haven't been back since I moved to Idaho 20 yrs ago. Love your channel!!
I love the idea of leaving the info at the graves.
Very nice video Ron.I have never heard of this fire, let alone the devastating results of it.
Ron, you being in Wisconsin reminds me of this amazing book I have that is right up your alley--it's called "Wisconsin Death Trip", by Michael Lesy. He's a historian who found all these newspaper articles on death, insanity, murders and suicide (so many caused by mental illness) in the 1800's. I don't know how I came across it years ago. In the introduction by Warren Susman, he says, "These accounts permitted people to share their misery by turning strangers into relatives. They attributed and articulated the motives of the most secret and private undertakings, the act of suicide, and so permitted desperate people to be solaced by others' despair." And the pictures are incredible. They're like the ones you find for us when you do history on the people in the graves. It's one of the most extraordinary books I've ever found.
I actually had bought it a couple of years ago and was disappointed in it. thanks, appreciate it, many others like it I guess. cool!! 😃👍
@@FacesoftheForgotten Oh good deal! I should’ve known you’d know about it already! You’re way ahead of me🥰 Disregard the email I just se t that said the same thing-I’d typed it in the comment and then figured it was more email appropriate. So just delete it! See you at your 8pm Sunday show!
Book: "Stalag Wisconsin" is very interesting. Tells of WW2 German prisoners of war around Wisconsin towns. The prisoners never tried to escape. They loved it here, were fed well, treated quite well and many stayed after the war. The fences kept angry locals away from the captured soldiers.
Great live ron and beautiful cemetery.... good to see you Ron ❤😊..... Mary from Arkansas ❤
I missed the live I'm watching it now I live in Toronto when you come it would be great to meet you l love your stories I watch you every Sunday that's great you have 500,000 subscribers your awesome can't wait for your Halloween episode
Hi Ron, regarding Las Vegas NM there was an incident that happened there. Known as the Las Vegas shootout at the Variety Hall Saloon, which happened there in January of 1880. The main character was a guy named Dave Mather. This shootout finally caused the people to stand up and form a vigilance committee. Hope you do the story. You are a great story teller, thanks for all u do!
Thanks you know the Dave Mather story, and lots of other things happening there but when I’m after is the grave of somebody involved that is buried there. That’s the challenge.
Thx 👍👍👍
Fish fries on Fridays / Saturdays in Wis.....at any tavern......in the 70s....good times growing up there.....Salute to those brave souls who gave their own lives so we can enjoy our FREEDOM!!!!!!!!!

Enjoy your last couple weeks on this side of the States. I live in Michigan, outside of Detroit.
I couldn't imagine moving to Arizona so far from my 7 grandchildren. I am a Nana to 2 yr old TWIN GRANDDAUGHTERS I take care of during the week ...these babies will keep me in Michigan forever
That was a good video Scott. I do enjoy Gordon's music. I didn't know he passed.
Sorry I missed the live! Thank you Ron, for everything you do!
What a great idea to place a photo and information of the person buried there. Makes them seem more real to us and others who pass by.
Great channel, love the history of all these places.
Jo from Australia
I love watching your shows, they are so relaxing and I love hearing about the older days. Friendly family site, very important.
Thank you so much for the effort and approach you put into these life stories. They are a gift! Thank you, Ron & team, for all you do.
Find Joe Shives grave
It’s in that cemetery. I collect brass railroad switch keys. I got one with his name hand stamped into it. Key-1900-1909-era
I looked him up
Interesting (to me) history.
His key hangs framed in my living room today.
WC Ry.
We're excited to see what you have ready for Halloween, Ron! Your videos are always exceptional.

Thanks for showing & sharing w us! Appreciate you!
Great Job Ron!!!
Hi Ron, I love your videos; so much history on these videos you make and that was my favorite subject when I was in school
Absolutely awesome Channel, thank you RON!
I just love what you're doing with adding the pictures and whatever info you have to the persons grave. It's so special. I wish I could come to your event but it's too far away for me. Maybe next time. This is a very pretty cemetery. Sorry I missed your live. It's been a hectic week, but I'll always be around. Take care
Another great video, as always!
Hello!!! Good to enjoy your video. Cemeteries always full of stories, sad mainly but really interesting.
Interesting ❤ Hopefully you will do a video on the Concrete Park in Phillips, Fred Smith was amazing, his story is touching
My Family were German loggers who lived in Philips and the stories of the horrid fire lasted till my mom’s generation . You might see some of my Frank family members buried out there and I would love to go and look around the town / graveyard . Thanks for the video .
Hello Mr. Ron!! Good evening! It's been a while. Work has consumed a lot of my time. Since my husband's death I have to work more since I'm the only provider. Can't wait to view your exciting videos that I have missed. Stay safe.
Respect what you do greetings from the netherlands Holland
Hey buddy keep safe an cool out there
I love this channel - Cliff from Maine
Great live walk again Ron.
They used to have wakes in homes in the 1800's and early 1900's. A lot of old farm houses had two entrances in the house near the livingroom; thinking it was a way to ease traffic during such occasions.
I wonder what the two doors were for.
Sometimes they were called Coffin Doors at the foot of stairs, the parlor
Good point on unmarked graves. I found this out researching genealogy on my Norwegian branch who homesteaded Dakota Territory in 1870. My Great Great grandparents lost 3 little girls in one week. GGgrandpa dug their graves 100 feet from the house. They were not marked.
The country Lutheran church they helped found in 1873 had a small graveyard. The church was moved several miles in the 1890s. The marked graves were moved to the new location. However there was a number of unmarked graves which were left as their spots were never marked or mapped and were not visible at the time of the move.
But the story gets more complicated. My GGgrandparents have a tall marker in the cemetery at another Lutheran church nearby but they didn't have connection to it (far as I can find). The tall marker has the names of the GGgrandparents, a daughter who died a few years before the 3 little ones and the 3.
So I have no idea if the 3 little girls were removed from the homestead or if they were left. Plus I have no info on the 1st girl that died, where/when/how and buried or reburied etc etc. Things were not documented very well during the homesteading era. What little I know I gleaned from a handful of local newspapers that survived since 1870.
So some of the issues you talk about I can relate to.
I'm at work doing security but love your videos!!!
Hi Ron! Sad that I missed your live but so glad you are coming to Az permanently. :) Lots to explore here in Az! Thank you once again for sharing. I will be going to NOLA in November and thanks to all your videos I will be visiting some historic sites. Stay safe and again, Gracias!!
Thanks for including footage of Rudolph Ehmke's grave and the grave of his wife Verona (Marinko) Ehmke (43:10). My great uncle and aunt.
awesome!!
Hello, Scott! I enjoy your programs.
who?? lol
Couldn't make the live video watching now. Good idea leaving information on the people who are buried there. Love the Channel been here from the very beginning. 👍
How did I not know this? My family had a place in Hayward for decades!
Hey Ron 👋 Slowly, but surely catching up with you. I love you leaving that information on the graves. I've seen it done before. People usually put them in sleeves and prop them up some how. A stick? Stakes? Not sure how! Cool idea 💡 Have fun fishing 🎣 🐟 🐠 with Danny. 😃
Sorry I missed the live, I just watched it and OMG...Ron you always do a awesome job...
Lovely cemetery Ron, and you weave great stories making these people real, their lives and tragedies. Could not find anything on Rinehart H Stake, but am going to keep digging. Interestingly, the surname Rinehart 'popped up' as Pioneers. Thank you.
Hi Ron, great live stream. 😊
Hi Ron 😊 I really love watching your videos ..lovely stories ..Keep Safe ..sending love x❤UK
Been watching you for years (I'm a fellow taphophile from eastern Ontario, Canada) and I'm excited to see where you go in Ontario!
I love Scott on Tape. I also like Steve on The Graveyard Channel.
Australia 🇦🇺 here love watching.
My uncle was a ball turret gunner in a B-17 during WW2.
I'm looking forward to your Halloween episode also!! You're the best Ron!!
I'm researching my ancestry right now and I use Find A Grave a lot to verify the name because I don't want to pay yet. I save the pictures. Maybe I'll write a book. I've gone back to the 1500's on my mom's side and 1600's on my dad's side.
Good walk today Ron! 😊😂 thank you!
So excited to see what you have in store for us for Halloween! I'm sorry I don't live in RI anymore to be able to meet you in person (got away from the winters 12 years ago and moved to Florida). I grew up not far from the Hearthside House and used to pass by it all the time. Beautiful property! One of my favorite restaurants is just up the street on Break Neck Hill Road called The Lodge Pub & Eatery. Thanks for sharing your stories and talking about the forgotten history. Wish you safe travels!
Sorry to have missed the live stream. That's what I get for taking a "short" nap. 😴🛌

Woodlawn cemetery in Las Vegas is on the National registry of historic places
I love the content of some of the graves. Very interesting 😃
FYI
SAN ANTONIO - San Antonio broke an all-time record on Sunday for the total number of days in triple-digit heat in a single year.
The new record of 60 days breaks the previous record of 59 from back in 2009. This summer has been way too hot for sure.
Northern Iowa == be ready for winter by November 1st. Annual reminder from my dad to get snow tires with studs on my Chevelle. I blew it off once and regretted it. No injuries or damage but slid off the road. Ended up staying at a farm of strangers who were super nice folks.
Really interesting to see that hollowen tree. It is a dead tree. Seems too old. Thanks for your video
Hello from Las Vegas, bought the book "Sundown at Sunrise " was so intrigued by the story

Our cemetery is a small one in Tarleton ohio it has some old ones like checking out heard stones I live walking in our forest cemetery I was behind my house and I was never afraid we sled riding in winter and walk and bike ride in summer
Hi Ron from Nottingham UK
I missed the live stream. It happens. I've missed quite a number recently. I had a "minor" stroke sometime between mid May and the first or second week in June. Pretty scary, didn't have any symptoms except for an awful headache.
In another six weeks or so will be the 152nd anniversary of the Peshtigo Fire. I hope maybe next summer you'll be able to do an episode about it or maybe the Minnesota and or Michigan Fires.
Time for a nap, I'm getting another of those headaches.
Hi ron love from UK 👑
I thought of an idea for you. I love your stories. I want to know when you will make more videos?
I make them constantly. I have 30 more episodes produced but not yet released. stay tuned!
