My thoughts: - Errors on the warscroll, this unit is just Stormsire+Cursebreakers 2.0 and should have the Hero keyword (same for Sacrosanct) - Much like the regular Knight-Arcanum, there is the start of a good / interesting idea here, but it's not quite there yet - They look really cool - The spell effect is cool but it is just way too hard to cast for SCE, even for what it does (which it is a powerful effect, so it is not a "hat on a hat" as Vince would say) Addendum: I also hate SCE units, like Liberators, wounding on a 4+ Okay, ranged units attacking in melee? Probably should be 4+ Aetherwings and Doggos? Ok, 4+ makes sense But even the most basic SCE foot troop, the humble Redeemer, should be on 3+/3+ for hit/wound
Excellent review of the warscroll! I was also thinking about pairing these guys with a big unit of Retributors or a fifteen block of vindictors backed up by vandus. Will you be doing a review of the new warcry warband’s AoS rules? The soulsworn?
Everything I say here should be taken with the point cost of 275 points in mind. Based on that, I see more missed opportunities than potential here, which is a real shame because the models are just too outrageously cool. - We have three Knight Arcanum here: Why do they only have 4 wounds each instead of 5? - Would it have been that bad to let the unit wound on the 3+? - Why don't these Knight Arcanum still know their actual spell "Blaze of the Heavens"? - I would have wished for something like the Red Coven from Nurgle. A group of mages who buff each other. Maybe +1 to Cast (then the casting value of 8 for Aethershock wouldn't be so out of reach either) if there are three of them and an improved version of the spell "Blaze of the Heavens" (maybe D3+2 damage at 24 inches). So I think that for 275 points could have expected that. 🤔 That's almost the points for a slann. 🤦🏻♂️
The 8+ is fine I guess if you look at it like they have an "extra cast" anyway. 42% and having to go through unbinding is excessive. I'm just tired of Stormcast stuff being overcosted 20% for no reason just because they've always been expensive. Its not like they have the excuse that they're overpaying for their allegiance abilities or something.
Thankfully the spell has global range, so you could cast it out of unbinding range of your opponent... you can even Translocate the Stormcoven out of unbinding range and then cast it, as long as you can see your target and they are in the aethercharged quarter! Totally agreed on Stormcast stuff being overpriced for seemingly no reason.
@@MrDavs1985 Yes, but since there is no range required you can deploy the Stormcoven out of unbinding range and put the unit you want to buff within the same quarter.

@@TheStormkeep You have to push them mid board and fight with them at 275 and +0. Double unbind is a lot of their own value as well.
I’m not sure the spell is table wide… both the stormcoven and the target unit have to be within the same quarter.
