      I have two of them with the kawi engines. Just under 400 hours on both of em. Absolutely love em. I'll be buying badboy mowers for my business from this point on.👍

    This is for the man whose mower left strips of uncut grass between the blades. I had the same problem with my JD lawn tractor. I mentioned it to a JD parts man and he said that he was a helicopter mechanic in Vietnam. He said that I was aligning the blades wrong. He said that the solution for copters is the same for lawn mowers. Multiple blades should be perpendicular to each other to do the best job of cutting because the rush of air will suck the grass blades into the path of the mower blades.
    I felt like a fool, but took his advice and it solved my problem immediately.
    I absolutely love my 60” deck Maverick HD with the Honda engine. It’s bulletproof!

    There is a recall on the 23 Maverick HD on the fuel tanks. That’s why your gauge isn’t working properly.

    I never wash my mower I use a leaf blower to clean it after I mow, and clean the deck by hand with a scraper. My Bad Boy is not the HD version which has a lot of nice options that mine does not have but mine is still a great mower which is a Maverick 60 inch with a 747cc Kohler

      I was also considering one of these. I decided against it after seeing it in person. There's SO much plastic on the engine and on the mower- Even the engine cover and air cleaner housing...ridiculous for $9K mower. Plus, these engines being fuel injected means come the day it doesn't start, you can't even fix it yourself because you need a special scanner (not the common automotive ones) to see what the problem is. These things have an ECM, oxygen sensor, MAF, MAP...everything that your car has..and are way too complex (and parts too expensive) to just try and fix by trial and error- and seeing as electronics are especially vulnerable to moisture and dirt, stuff WILL be failing- and the warranty is only 2 years (Which is about how long it'll go until stuff like the electronic fule pump and sensors start failing!). Darn ECM for this mower lone costs over $400..and if they've stopped making it by the time your goes... I've decided to go with a slightly older carbureted used mower, that still has actual metal parts. This is way too much money for a short-lived disposable mower.

    Thank you for such a in detail review. Always wondered about the fuel injection and also about the hydraulic filters. Because I was going to add some inline ones. But I'm pretty set on the Maverick. And I've always asked in other videos about the hitch. That wide doesn't these models come with a hitch for aeration for example. Definitely appreciate you sir.

    Just bought my Maverick HD with the honda in a 54 inch as well. Good unit, except what caught me off guard compared to your unit is I only have the left tank and no right tank and I also did not get the stripping kit with mine. Only other mention is that I do not have a black cover on my honda IGVX700, mine is red. Not sure if I have a 2022 model or a 2023. I will be looking to add the right tank in the future as I do like having weight more evenly balanced as well as filling up with less intervals per month. Great video, wish I would have seen this when I bought my Maverick HD as at the time the honda equipped units had almost no videos to them.

      I had the options to get the red motor cover in a 2023 but chose not to. And some one mentioned below the gas tanks were on recall so maybe that's why your only had a single

    You can stop tearing the grass up when turning if you don't just stop the wheel on side you are turning to. Pull lever to reverse wheel on side you are turn to. This allow mower to do a mini cycle and not tareup grass. Do it slow at first. You can go faster after you get timing down to turn without targeting up grass. I taught this for 21 year works in demoing mowers.

    hey man, great vid. Can you tell me if you're still happy with this mower and Honda engine combo as of today 10/10/24. I'm about to pull the trigger on a used one only 5 month warranty left and like 80hrs on it. What do you think would be a good price? I'm trying to get it for $6k or is that still too high?

    • @BrileyWray
      @BrileyWray  วันที่ผ่านมา

      @thepropertygurus.9940 I would just look around at the price of other used ones for a price. That sounds reasonable. I'm still very happy with my mower. Run 100%gas and it cranks everytime and runs great no issues to speak of.

    • @BrileyWray
      @BrileyWray  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I liked the fuel injection vs the carb system. All the reviews I read on the honda engines were great. It will self regulate so if your mowing short grass and it doesn't need to run at 100% it will throttle back and if you hit a rough patch of grass it will accommodate accordingly. I may regret it one day but I just seen it as a upgrade and I got this mower with the Honda cheaper than I could buy it with the kawasaki engine.

      I have the same mower with the Honda , I love it so far . My old Hustler has a Honda that is still running strong after 16 years. Only negative I have so far on the Maverick HD is the hour meter quit after 8 hours but Dealer gave me a new one . I’m liking the mower so far to mow my 4 1/2 acres . Main reason I bought the BadBoy was because of the build and the option to get the Honda motor.

    I love my Bad Boy HD, but to me its really more work to cut the grass. My gas is usually cut to 3 1/2". The cut is great....BUT it leaves about a 1" strip of uncut grass between blade 1 & 2, and between 2 & 3. There is no adjustment for this as this bade spacing is set by the spindle locations, and the blade length. Correct blades are installed and I also put a brand new set of bades on it. The mower still leaves a strip of uncut grass between blades 1&2 and 2&3. Changing cut height does NOT make and difference. So using this Bad Boy means having to cut twice, since after initial pass, you have to go back and move over a few inches and mow it again. Double the time, double the fuel. After 2 months of this problem, and servce that I had assumed would be mediocre since all Bad Boys are sold at Farm Supply and other such stores in this area, none at a lawn and garden or outdoor equipment dealer. Have tried contacting Bad Boy without success. So I'm back to using a 20 year old JD GX335 with 54" deck that makes a beautiful cut.

    • @BrileyWray
      @BrileyWray  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Mine doesn't have that problem. Sounds like the blades are a hair short

    • @shannonp4037
      @shannonp4037 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Sometimes blades say they are a certain length when in fact they are not. I bought some for my Ultima ZT1-50 that said they were 17 1/4 but are really 17 1/16. That leaves a 3/16 space that shouldn't be there.

    • @BrileyWray
      @BrileyWray  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      i can see that being a issue. that's a pro tip of something to check when i order blades.

    Quick question on your honda motor. I have the exact same model amd engine combo. I love it overall. However, i do have one nagging question.
    Does yours take a bit longer to start than a typical carburated model?
    Mine has always taken 3 to 4 seconds of cranking to start. My carburated motor on my last mower fired over almost instantly.
    Is this normal for the fuel injection?
    Thanks for your video

    • @BrileyWray
      @BrileyWray  ปีที่แล้ว

      Mine probably turns over once or twice before it fire's. I would say it starts faster or just as fast as my carb mower I had.

      General consensus is the Honda's don't like ethanol. I have a tiller that does the same thing. Non ethanol gets pricey but since I only use the tiller for an hour or so a year, 1 can of non ethanol would be fine. But it cranks, so I just forget about it for a year.

      Overall yes, a fuel injected engine gives precise fuel measurement and a bit more fuel economy, but is it really worth the extra cost to get it, on a Honda mower. Honda is a good engine, but Kawasaki has been the king with most every brand of outdoor power equipment. Same great warranty. Plus carb equipped engines are not as particular when it comes to a bit or dirty fuel. Lots cheaper to repair, and junk in the fuel is somrthing that is a big possibity with ysing typical 5 gal gas cans to carry fuel.

    • @BrileyWray
      @BrileyWray  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I had originally planned on getting a scagg patriot so I had that price point in mind and I just liked the idea of the openness of the badboy for doing maintenance and it was cheaper and I liked the reviews on the badboys so basically I just pick something comparable to the patriot.
