His views on GPP and energy systems are so on point and simply highlight the fact that a lot of these tests and training methods being used by coaches are not only outdated but regressive and dangerous.

I was so late in finding out about Louie Simmons, I just bought a few of his recommended books, and i've been lifting since 2003. I wish I had knew about him a little earlier in life. Yes, I'm maxing out every week [max effort days], but on differ3nt exercises and my strength has jumped. Thanks Louie. Peace and blessings to you all.

If I could do anything, I’d have been his protege, and carried on his work. I’m not smart enough. This guy has an extremely high functioning brain. Louie is as smart as they come. He’s Tesla and Marconi smart. He just focused on strength. 🧠💪🏼

when he says "a person can jump on a 40" box, 80% is 32..."
i don't understand how this is applied. is it a max box jump? do you factor how much the knees bend? because if i'm jumping on my max box jump, my knees bend a lot. if i jump on less than that, my knees bend less. but the huge difference in knee bend means i'm not reeeeally doing 80% effort in the jump. so... how do you make this work?
i'm also trying to figure out sets/reps, and rest periods.
    can someone help?

Yes, it's a max effort box jump performed without any special circumstances. How much your knees bend doesn't matter; It's natural for them to bend more the higher you have to jump.

Yes he means a max jump. From a standing position, with arm swing and knees bent. No you don't measure how much your knees bend or arms swing on a max effort jump.
Rest enough so you can fully jump again. However if you do it to also work on conditioning then shorten the rest periods.
Beginner start mayeb with 20 jumps a week, build this gradually up to 3*8 jumps 2 times a week. If you're pretty advanced you can do 40 jumps twice a week
Try a new PR once a month.
Vary the jumps, as he says, of the knees, use dumbbells kettlebells weightvest, etc.
The above is a very concise explanation. Please buy his book on explosive training/or webinars for further explanation. There is tons of exercises, etc. to use. His book is a great great resource.
      Hope it helps man!

What he is saying is once you've established your max jump then you use Prilepin's table to figure out reps/sets at given percentages. The knee bend on landing explains why some guys who are very mobile can land on higher boxes: are they jumping higher or simply landing in a deeper squat position? This doesn't apply in a vertical jump test
