Great video. The software also allows batch export and editing. Simply select the clips/images, apply the change, and click FILE>Batch Export You can also batch save or batch clear. Clearing DOES NOT delete the file. It simply removes it from the program, like Premiere would. Also, the logo you pointed out early on is simply an example. You can use it if you want. But you can also pop in your own logo. It's great if you want to watermark your videos and hide the tripod arms. Or hide the person holding the camera straight below the camera. You can resize the logo, rotate it, and change it's opticity. But you can not change it position. This means that if you hang the camera upside down (which I've done) then the logo will appear at the top of the video/image.
I knew about the batch export, but I didn't know about the logo option. That makes sense! Thanks for the input! The thing I haven't tested as far as batch export is, the last time I tried to batch select "Venture Case Stitch" it would not do it and I had to do it for each clip individually. I have not tried that on the new version. I appreciate the input!
On my 2011 Macbook, batch export make my laptop lag. My mouse point bacame stack. Very frustrating on it. So i have to waiting for long time for complete my 1st export.
How do I correct bent lines in the Insta 360 one x video???? I shoot construction sites and architecture. I’ve had the camera for three days and I am frustrated because I can’t find a way to correct the bent lines in the Insta 360 one x video.
Have you tried manually adjusting the stitching? Some of it will likely be unavoidable because it's a fish eye lens and also two lens being stitched together, but you can make some minor adjustments.
Have you tried going into the preferences under "Misc" and switching the max tasks higher to get around the multi-clip issue? Just wondering, as I just downloaded the software and haven't tried it yet, but can't think of what else that might control? Thanks for the info.
Not the last time I used it. But that was months ago. It's one of the reasons I quit using it. I know they've done some updating to it, and that may have changed, but I haven't had time to download the update to verify it yet.
Since the last update i can edit GoPro Fusion files with Insta360 Studio, but can't export is larger then 1080p even thought the original file u imported is a 5.7K file. Don't know why, editing isn't a problem only exporting.
I subscribed to Premier and tried to get my Insta360 videos into it - assuming thru the plug-in - but it didn’t work under Mojave 10.14.3 so I unsubscribed... Then I saw a Motorcyclist using FCPX after stitching together the 5K to MP4 but that only gave me “fishbowl” 360 - didn’t see the option or parms he used to make it look like the 360 in their Studio ie selectable Focus... Looks like I’m stuck with editing the focal points in Studio and Exporting in mp4 - if - I want to integrate it with other video using FCPX or???
I havent tried this desktop software yet, but only using my iphone to eidt. Its kinda hard to get normal views. Its keeps on spinning around. Is there a way to stop it from spinning?
Hmm, almost sounds like you may want to try calibrating the gyroscope on your camera. See if that works. I've had very good success with the app and haven't had any issues with it spinning around. Wish I had more info!
Scojo in 360 How do you calibrate? When im walking around the video just keeps on spinning making the the videos not good at all. Do I have to point the screen in front of me or to the other side? Thanks
@@STIjojoSTI The Gyro Calibrate is in one of the sub menus. You have to go into settings and find "Gyro Calibrate" (sorry, I don't have the camera in front of me to be more specific). When you find Gyro Calibrate, click on it and hold the camera steady and straight up during the process until it's done. That may help based off of what you're telling me.
Thanks for the helpful vid. As far as I have found, speed changes (Slo-mo and Hyperlapse) and music can be added to clips using the Insta360 One X app on phones or tablets, however it then only exports at 1080p (whereas on studio it can be exported at 4k I think) so you lose some of the quality. I hope they will update the Studio on Mac and PC to include these features.
I believe you are correct! Only 1080 from the app. But thankfully there's still a lot that ends up on 1080 these days, so that's at least helpful. Studio REALLY needs an overhaul. I hope they make something that rivals what you can do in Premiere.
Good job. However I set up folder with my PC and segregate the footage by the event and/or date shot. This way I have a place established for each project. They also go directly to an external drive to keep from filling my computer's drive. I send the matching MP4 back to that same folder.
Yeah, that's a good workflow. I'm literally doing something similar at this very moment as I just landed in Seattle and shot a TON of footage. When I get back I will be posting!
So I am having major issues getting the time flip to recognize me and not a random person in the street for some of my clips, is there any way I can reframe it? I did 3 takes of each wall, but it's only allowing me to use one take from the 30 second clip and not show the other two takes for some odd reason.
Unfortunately, I'm not qualified to answer this one. I stopped using Studio quite some time ago. It was too frustrating and I have more success using Premiere. You might try going to the Facebook page for the Insta360. Lots of people on there will respond if you post a question.
You are spot on. To be honest, at the time I made this I didn't realize you could customize it. :-) I'm only now starting to do more immersive video, so it hasn't been much of an issue.
Hey Scojo, thanks for a very helpful and well done video to work with Insta360 Studio. I just got my self a Insta 360 OneX and could learn a lot from you. I just have a (maybe) stupid question. As an architect I am used to work on a desktop (Mac) and therefore I prefer the Insta360 Studio instead of the Apps on iPad or iPhone. Here's my question: Where can I find the functions in the desktop program (Insta360 Studio) to speed up a video sequence or place a frame in frame view as I can do quite easily on the Apps? I spend already a lot of time googeling this task, did not find any answers unfortunately ..maybe you can tell me where these functions are or if this is just not possible on the desktop program? Well hello Berne Switerland! I went "near" there many years ago, but never made it in. Would love to someday. Unfortunately, the Studio desktop app actually lacks many of the functions of the iPhone app, believe it or not. You can't speed up or slow down footage. The only way to do it on desktop is via Premiere or Power Director or some other editing software in conjunction with either the GoPro Reframe plugin or another reframe software. Wish I had better news. Insta360 keeps mentioning that they are going to eventually fix this problem, but haven't done so yet.
Hey ScoJo, thank you, fantastic step by step tutorial. One thing I'm struggling with. Suppose you have a 1 minute clip and you want to use 20 seconds at the beginning of it and the last 5 seconds of it. How to you take out the middle bit that you don't want?
I gotta be honest. I'm not sure if you can. If someone else is reading this and has other information, please let us know. As I recall, you can trim the beginning and the end, but not a middle chunk. But I haven't used Studio in a while, to be honest. I do most of my editing now in the app. It has more functions. Wish I could be more help!
@@Scojoin360 Thanks Scojo. It seems crazy really. I mean, if the camera is on a long pole then it makes sense to leave it running, not keep turning it on and off, taking very short clips. So obviously you will end up wanting to cut several bits out of a single clip. How would you do it in the phone app? Thanks.
@@andrewholder4539 With the app for the One R (that I hear you can use with the One X) there is a My Story mode (or something like that) where you can combine two clips. So in that case, you'd cut the parameters for your first clip and save it. Then cut the end part and save it. Then take it into My Story and combine the two. I mention the My Story function in my video about the One R app briefly that will give you an overview.

The apps, both desktop and phone don't really cater for using long clips and taking sections out of them, as you would in FCP or Premiere. I found the only way was to replicate a long clip then trim beginning and end in different places. A bit tedious but it works. What I'd like to do is mark an in point and out point and then lift onto the storyline. That 3 minute film took me about 10 hours to edit, including tidying it up at the end in FCP!

I edit video for a living, so I use Premiere. But I know it's pretty expensive. I've heard that Power Director works an is free or inexpensive and I think Davinci Resolve may be an option too.

I don't have a "for sure" answer on that one as I do most of my work in Premiere. But I believe you can do it on the app, but not in Studio. Any other viewers out there have a more informed answer to this? Chime in!
I'm afraid not. Unless they've done some updating that I don't know about. You can stream with the camera (though I haven't myself) but I believe it's in 360.

Sadly, I can't help. I got so frustrated with Studio that I stopped using it about a year ago. I mainly edit on the app and Premiere these days. Sorry!
@@Jaji1948 You have to render the immersive file WITHOUT putting it in a reframe editing mode. You render it as an MP4 and then you post it to TH-cam or Veer or other sites that support immersive video and view it there using goggles. At least, that's how I do it. I LOVE immersive video, but have not yet dove into it at a level that I"d like to.
Studio is not designed for the One. Would it work? I'm not sure. But technically there is software they offer through their website that is for the One and the Nano.
Good question! I haven't really tied the two world's together much. I do have a channel called "scojorising" on TH-cam, but I don't really do much with it other than to occasionally post a video. I am currently negotiating to shoot a documentary this spring and will definitely be combining both world's for that one!

Now I can do my individual clips in Insta360 Studio, export them to 2D, and THEN import them into Premiere for the greater timeline. You put a nitrous booster in my workflow, dude. THANK YOU!!! I have not used Studio in quite some time now. But the last time I used it, it did not have the ability to do slow motion. That may have changed, but if you have trouble finding it, you might try posting the same question on the Facebook page for the camera. Lots of helpful people there.
great video - again! the WIN and MAC versions of Studio are different - MAC one has the 3 coloured buttons and neater interface. WIN version does not have this. It also appears impossible to work on footage that you have sped up or added motion blur to (on your phone) in Studio -and you cant change speed or add motion blur in Studio. Both the app and STudio offer different options - so uou have to choose which ones you want and either edit on phone , in the app, or in STUDIO. Very constraining ... unless someone knows how? keep up the great vids Scojo!
Just so folks know. The camera software makes the selfie stick disappear BUT not the SHADOW. While differences in exposure can show the stitch lines and the temptation to hit calibrate and adjust is there, you first have to ask yourself am I looking at the shadow of the selfie stick. It's a 360 thing.
When I first downloaded it, you could only download it from their website. But I thought I heard you could get it on iTunes, but have not confirmed that. At last check, you can only edit one clip at a time in Studio. But I mostly use the app these days. So I'm not as up to date on it as I could be. Hope your editing goes well!

Hello. I need your help. I have an Apple Mac Pro 10.11.6 operating system that is no longer up to date. Until the appearance of the new Insta360 Studio 2020, I used a software version compatible with my computer. After updating I HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO USE Insta360 Studio. Sadly,, I haven't used Studio or a Mac since just after I got my One X. So I'm afraid I can't help you directly, but I can recommend going to the One X Facebook page and posting your problem there. You should find the answer you need. Even the Insta360 people monitor that page and can offer help.
Hi Scojo, excellent vid, thanks. I'm just starting with my One X and STUDIO. I just imported a 100fps vid and it was automatically in slow-mo in STUDIO. Hope this helps. Nice call out to Ben Claremont, a guru of mine as well.
Ben is great. The "spark" that led me to get into 360 was from a video of his. From what I can tell, the 100 fps now imports in slow motion but the 50 fps does not. Or at least that's what happens when I edit in the app. So I assume they did some kind of an update to it. Thanks for the heads up! Good luck with the camera! I still use mine almost daily.
@@Scojoin360 Reckon you're right. The 100fps import works directly in slo-mo but 50fps is normal runtime. Guess that will be in the next firmware upgrade (fingers crossed).
I haven't rendered immersive video in Studio. I use Premiere for that, so I'm afraid I don't have the answer. I'm not sure if you can use keyframes in 360 in Studio. I think it will only allow keyframes in reframed video. 360 immersive video does not allow for many options when it comes to movement. You can get some movement and keyframing by using Premiere and the plugin called "VR Projection". Honestly, I'm just now getting deeper in the weeds with immersive video, so I may learn more in the coming weeks. Will definitely share videos of what I learned.
@@mabinyob7595 I'm actually shocked that wasn't part of the initial release. I think Insta360 is in a position to make a software product that could make them money if done correctly.
Thanks! Nothing major as far as updates. They do little tweaks here and there but nothing earth shaking. I've actually discovered the "View Finder" mode on the app and am using that primarily and then dumping those clips into Premiere. I pretty much only use studio to convert files into MP4s now.
What do you mean by interval shots? I just want to make sure I know what you mean. I do not use Davinci, so I don't have direct experience, but as I believe I've heard, you can use Davinci to edit 360.
it depends - you can reframe it to a traditional video or if you want to keep it a fully immersive video, you should compress it to an MP4 or something like that. When you go to render the video in studio, look for the options it offers you. Sorry, I don't have the software on the computer I'm using at the moment and am going off of memory. :-)

So is there anyway of editing multiple clips together? I have 50 clips. I don't want to buy premier, don't tell me I have to edit each clip individually? I want to put it all on one timeline. I only have this and imovie.
I wish I had better news. You can only edit one clip at a time. You can get a free version of Resolve that should work and I've heard people say that PowerDirector is good. But nope....no multiple clip options with Studio.
You will rarely get rid of all of it. It's just the nature of the lenses. But you can do some adjusting in Studio or Premiere or even withing the app. Try playing with the pitch, pan, etc and see if it helps.
Honestly, it's been long enough since I used this software that I've forgotten. I believe when you go to export the clip there is a selector for what resolution you want.
I am brand new to the Insta360 one x. I can't figure out how to import the video files into the Insta360 studio 2019 app on my MacBook Pro. I drag highlighted video files from a folder on my desktop to the import arrow in the software and nothing happens. Can you explain how to import the files? Thanks!!
@@Scojoin360, thanks, I tried that as well and nothing is happening. The files are highlighted with the names from the camera, I haven't changed any names, but the files won't import. I doubled clicked on a insv file and it did open in 360 studio. Maybe the phone or ipad apps will work better. Kind of a disappointing start to using this camera.

Thanks for that great video Maybe you can help me out, if I import my 360 videos from the 360 R in the 2020 version, they don't run smoothly anymore. At the 360 R or my phone everything is fine but with the studio 2020 on my windows pc its just pure pain.
Well, I haven't used studio in quite a while, to be honest. So I would only be guessing. If you do it within the app, I believe it compresses it, so that's why it works well on the app. But when you go to your computer it doesn't compress it, so if you have an older computer, it'd get bogged down. But sadly, I'm must taking an educated guess. I mainly edit in either the app or Premiere or both these days.
Hmm, I don't recall having any problems when I renamed files. But to be honest, I haven't used Studio now for quite some time. I mainly edit individual clips in the app and then compile them in Premiere, these days.

UPDATE: Here is the result from Last night while trying to edit videos on the PC via Insta360 Studio for PC (Obviously) I found 1. It has no HDR option 2. It has no speed adjustment for any video (The speed in which the video was taken is permanently like that) 3. The modes such as tiny planet have no use 4. The keyframe option is pointless After adding some to my video last night, nothing in my video has changed. How about people start explaining what keyframe is used for and how to use them? 5. There is no transition (The option is greyed out meaning it cannot be clicked on to use) If I wanted to do a video where for example it rotates 360 degrees and then turns into another video, it cannot be done with the PC version of insta360 studio.
I mainly do all of my reframed 360 video in the app these days. I don't use studio anymore. I'm also getting more into fully immersive 360, so using Premiere for that. So far, so good!

Thanks to your videos, I am quickly learning how to use and edit 360 videos! One quick question that I haven't been able to find the answer to anywhere. Once the video is saved on an iPhone phone, do you know how to transfer it back to the camera memory card and/or the studio one x to edit? I have saved a lot of clips to my phone as I ran out of memory but I want the original clips back to the memory card to transfer to the harddrive. Thanks
I can only speak to how I do it. I edit on the app (usually in my iPad instead of my iPhone) and then connect the iPad to my computer for finishing in Premiere (unless I'm sharing directly to social). If you want to work in Studio, you can use the included cable to connect to the camera to your computer and then export it as an .insv file to your computer to open it in Studio...if that makes sense. The nice thing about the One R app is that you can actually edit clips directly on the camera, rather than having to download it first. You couldn't do that with the One X app! Cheers!

@@yeahprick Hmm, that's weird. Perhaps I'm not completely understanding the question. I've never tried to upload back to the camera after downloading it, so I'm afraid I can't help there. But I have taken it from iPhone to desktop via a USB cable (it has to be a specific type of USB cable, it's very picky) but the way I use the most now is removing the SD card from the camera and putting it into a card reader and inserting it in my computer. Have you tried that?
@@Scojoin360 that's exactly what I want to do that I haven't been able to explain as well as I should haha. I want to upload the video back to the camera from the phone storage! With regards to the second part, that's what I will do going forward 👌. At the time, I was on holiday with no memory left on the camera, I transferred all the videos to a friend's iPhone insta360 one x app so I can shoot more footage on the camera. Now I want the original footage back from the iPhone to the memory card so I can download it and edit it on my android phone app. I hope that's a lot clearer. Again thank you for the quick replies!

Sadly you can't do any of that right now. I heard recently that a major update is coming soon, but I don't know what it contains. So stay tuned. I edit video for a living, so I use Adobe Premiere which is certainly a good software but a little bit expensive. I've heard that Power Director works and is inexpensive or free.
Hi I just got the 360 one x came with a 32gb card but after filming which didn't seem very long the card was full, when i connect to pc i noticed that there were 2 files for every video clip which is not good so you can only get half the footage you were hoping to get , is this normal? if yes then maybe i will have to send it back cheers really hope to hear from you I have been a long time sub and now finally made the purchase after months of deliberating, cheers ing-eeee
Thanks! Yes, it is supposed to load two files. They are one file for each lens. But when you play them back they become one. 32GB is fairly small. I've got a 64GB and a guy I did a video with today has a 128GB. I'd recommend at least a 64GB card and don't forget to format your card frequently. Thanks for being a long time sub!
You fell for it like me 😂 Studio conserves the frame rate, so as you have to use any video editor to bring your various clips together you do any speed ramping there. But Insta360 already announced to add more to Studio 😉 The transitions are really a fine thing, you will learn to appreciate with "normal" videos (other than action footage). I've used it as a static camera during an event, where I almost hid the camera and operated it on remote from a bit away. In overcapture I just mimicked natural camera turns, here the fade in - fade out comes in quite handy. Setting the transition to none makes it look like separate cameras filming the scene. So there is quite some use on that, I reckon just not on shooting action footage
Yet another video that just has to Involve Apple. I have yet to see anyone create a video about this using ONLY the CAMERA AND PC. The clowns who make these videos need to seriously stop using APPLE, and phone all phone apps and then passing it off as it works on PC.
Not sure why you are so upset. A computer is a personal choice and doesn't make anyone a clown. As a matter of fact, I've since moved to a Windows computer. You are welcome to use whatever computer you want. We all make personal choices based off the experiences we have. I'm a professional video editor so I chose Mac for many years. Now doing Windows 10.

You're lying about the information in the video and people are sick of running into falsely titled videos such as this. Whether you meant it or not does not change the fact that everything you have in this video for editing only works on and for Apple Products. Since the market is made up of more Android and PC users, when you have a video titled what you have here it's going to get slammed. Android and PC users when they see Apple involved. People have every right to be aggravated.
How does it know which way to spin between keyframes? In the video, you spun clockwise. The first pan was a small angle, but the second was close to 270 degrees. I was afraid it would take the shortest route between keyframes and pan counter-clockwise, but it went the long way around. Does it then "remember" which way you spun it in the editor?
I've sent the dev team a number of suggestions, with changing the speed like in the phone apps a big one. Hopefully we'll see that. They seem open to user suggestions and are constantly improving this program. One very useful transition that you didn't talk about is "none". It's basically a cut. So if you just want to shift to a different viewpoint without a transition use that. People tend to over-use transitions so I really appreciate being able to to a quick cut.
Why does the app want permission to make phone calls from my phone and to monitor my in and outgoing messaging why does the app need this is this just another Chinese spy device
Unfortunately, I don't have Studio anymore. It is a pretty incomplete program and I edit all my stuff either on the app or in Premiere. You can do a lot in the app. I think the key frames and transitions are in the bottom left corner. But they are immediately obvious. You have to click on something - either an icon or a word to get them to show up. Sorry, wish I could help more. I always found Studio to be an underwhelming program.
Yes. In fact, I think if you edit the original files (as opposed to converting them) you can save changes to them and work on them later. Since it doesn't let me do hyperlapses and slow mo, I've stopped using it. Bummer.

Without seeing it directly, the first thing I'd recommend is doing a "Gyro Calibration" on it. You can find that in the settings menu. Set your camera on a flat table and run the calibration. Only takes a few seconds. I'm not sure about the audio issue. Hopefully it's not the same issue I had. Mine was HORRIBLE crackling. I had to get the entire camera replaced. Hope that helps a little. You might try posting the same question on the Insta360 One X User Group page on Facebook. GREAT access to answers there.
Is this in Studio? because the program does have some pretty stiff PC requirements to run smoothly, my laptop isn't really up to it. Check this www.insta360.com/support/supportcourse?post_id=11139, at bottom, system requirements 16gb ram or higher?
I really liked your tutorial, but I have the vers. 3.3.2 of Studio 2019 for MAC, IMPOSSIBLE to use in the IMac, I have installed it several times, it does not accept the Videos made with the Camera Insta360 One X, I have written to the Support of Insta, more than a Week without finding the solution, it is supposed to download 2 files, it does only with one, it does not accept mp4 videos. If you can give me some advice I would really appreciate it.

@@rodolfoelgert1102 I haven't used studio in a while but I have a Mac and used it without any major problems. Now as I recall it took the two files from my folder and made it into one when imported into Studio (i.e. combining the two). Could that be what is happening?
Hello again, indeed, there is one of the problems. So far I can only export it directly from the Card, that is, I connect the Camera to the Computer and from there I export it as you show in the Video. When I open Studio 2019 in the Settings - Long Directory window, it opens two new windows of Finder, in one of them is Studio 2019, in the other Studio for One X and in the second window of Finder the other two folders with log and startup.ini. I think that the Program is perfect for working with Microsoft and Adobe, since it has the signature plug of that Firm. I work primarily with the Apple FCPX Editing Program and the Insta360 Software does not bring any direct or indirect communication with that Program even though the Propaganda says otherwise, specifically I could take the Camera Filming only through W_Lan to the phone and from the Phone does not turn out to Studio 2019, there is no case. Your Tutorial with the Basics is great, I was fascinated, thank you for letting us know your knowledge.
@@povilaspovilaitis That's probably a bit slow for 360 footage. But as I've been finding out quite recently, I'm no expert on specs for computers. I've been through three in the last month trying to edit my documentary. But if I had to venture an educated guess, your computer may be a bit slow. Anyone else have any thoughts? If you want to try something different, you may try using Premiere or something like that and creating "proxies" to edit with. It makes for small miracles because it allows you to edit on a lower resolution file, but finish in full resolution.
Depends on what you need. I don't know that many VR editing companies out there, but I do some of it myself on a contract basis. Happy to chat with you if you'd like.

Great video.
The software also allows batch export and editing. Simply select the clips/images, apply the change, and click FILE>Batch Export
You can also batch save or batch clear. Clearing DOES NOT delete the file. It simply removes it from the program, like Premiere would.
Also, the logo you pointed out early on is simply an example. You can use it if you want. But you can also pop in your own logo. It's great if you want to watermark your videos and hide the tripod arms. Or hide the person holding the camera straight below the camera. You can resize the logo, rotate it, and change it's opticity. But you can not change it position. This means that if you hang the camera upside down (which I've done) then the logo will appear at the top of the video/image.
I knew about the batch export, but I didn't know about the logo option. That makes sense! Thanks for the input! The thing I haven't tested as far as batch export is, the last time I tried to batch select "Venture Case Stitch" it would not do it and I had to do it for each clip individually. I have not tried that on the new version. I appreciate the input!
On my 2011 Macbook, batch export make my laptop lag. My mouse point bacame stack. Very frustrating on it. So i have to waiting for long time for complete my 1st export.
How do I correct bent lines in the Insta 360 one x video???? I shoot construction sites and architecture. I’ve had the camera for three days and I am frustrated because I can’t find a way to correct the bent lines in the Insta 360 one x video.
Have you tried manually adjusting the stitching? Some of it will likely be unavoidable because it's a fish eye lens and also two lens being stitched together, but you can make some minor adjustments.
Have you tried going into the preferences under "Misc" and switching the max tasks higher to get around the multi-clip issue? Just wondering, as I just downloaded the software and haven't tried it yet, but can't think of what else that might control? Thanks for the info.
I'm not aware of that function. I have yet to hear of anyone that can do multiple clips in Studio. But I haven't used it in a little while either.

Not the last time I used it. But that was months ago. It's one of the reasons I quit using it. I know they've done some updating to it, and that may have changed, but I haven't had time to download the update to verify it yet.

Since the last update i can edit GoPro Fusion files with Insta360 Studio, but can't export is larger then 1080p even thought the original file u imported is a 5.7K file.
Don't know why, editing isn't a problem only exporting.
The whole work flow for 360 still has some major issues. Thankfully many of them are being overcome, but many still exist.

I subscribed to Premier and tried to get my Insta360 videos into it - assuming thru the plug-in - but it didn’t work under Mojave 10.14.3 so I unsubscribed...
Then I saw a Motorcyclist using FCPX after stitching together the 5K to MP4 but that only gave me “fishbowl” 360 - didn’t see the option or parms he used to make it look like the 360 in their Studio ie selectable Focus...
Looks like I’m stuck with editing the focal points in Studio and Exporting in mp4 - if - I want to integrate it with other video using FCPX or???
Have you tried editing in View Finder mode on the app and then dropping it into your desktop software?

I havent tried this desktop software yet, but only using my iphone to eidt. Its kinda hard to get normal views. Its keeps on spinning around. Is there a way to stop it from spinning?
Hmm, almost sounds like you may want to try calibrating the gyroscope on your camera. See if that works. I've had very good success with the app and haven't had any issues with it spinning around. Wish I had more info!

@@STIjojoSTI The Gyro Calibrate is in one of the sub menus. You have to go into settings and find "Gyro Calibrate" (sorry, I don't have the camera in front of me to be more specific). When you find Gyro Calibrate, click on it and hold the camera steady and straight up during the process until it's done. That may help based off of what you're telling me.

Thanks for the helpful vid. As far as I have found, speed changes (Slo-mo and Hyperlapse) and music can be added to clips using the Insta360 One X app on phones or tablets, however it then only exports at 1080p (whereas on studio it can be exported at 4k I think) so you lose some of the quality. I hope they will update the Studio on Mac and PC to include these features.
I believe you are correct! Only 1080 from the app. But thankfully there's still a lot that ends up on 1080 these days, so that's at least helpful. Studio REALLY needs an overhaul. I hope they make something that rivals what you can do in Premiere.
Good job. However I set up folder with my PC and segregate the footage by the event and/or date shot. This way I have a place established for each project. They also go directly to an external drive to keep from filling my computer's drive. I send the matching MP4 back to that same folder.
Yeah, that's a good workflow. I'm literally doing something similar at this very moment as I just landed in Seattle and shot a TON of footage. When I get back I will be posting!
So I am having major issues getting the time flip to recognize me and not a random person in the street for some of my clips, is there any way I can reframe it? I did 3 takes of each wall, but it's only allowing me to use one take from the 30 second clip and not show the other two takes for some odd reason.
Unfortunately, I'm not qualified to answer this one. I stopped using Studio quite some time ago. It was too frustrating and I have more success using Premiere. You might try going to the Facebook page for the Insta360. Lots of people on there will respond if you post a question.

As an architect I am used to work on a desktop (Mac) and therefore I prefer the Insta360 Studio instead of the Apps on iPad or iPhone. Here's my question: Where can I find the functions in the desktop program (Insta360 Studio) to speed up a video sequence or place a frame in frame view as I can do quite easily on the Apps? I spend already a lot of time googeling this task, did not find any answers unfortunately ..maybe you can tell me where these functions are or if this is just not possible on the desktop program? Well hello Berne Switerland! I went "near" there many years ago, but never made it in. Would love to someday. Unfortunately, the Studio desktop app actually lacks many of the functions of the iPhone app, believe it or not. You can't speed up or slow down footage. The only way to do it on desktop is via Premiere or Power Director or some other editing software in conjunction with either the GoPro Reframe plugin or another reframe software. Wish I had better news. Insta360 keeps mentioning that they are going to eventually fix this problem, but haven't done so yet.
Hey ScoJo, thank you, fantastic step by step tutorial. One thing I'm struggling with. Suppose you have a 1 minute clip and you want to use 20 seconds at the beginning of it and the last 5 seconds of it. How to you take out the middle bit that you don't want?
I gotta be honest. I'm not sure if you can. If someone else is reading this and has other information, please let us know. As I recall, you can trim the beginning and the end, but not a middle chunk. But I haven't used Studio in a while, to be honest. I do most of my editing now in the app. It has more functions. Wish I could be more help!
@@Scojoin360 Thanks Scojo. It seems crazy really. I mean, if the camera is on a long pole then it makes sense to leave it running, not keep turning it on and off, taking very short clips. So obviously you will end up wanting to cut several bits out of a single clip. How would you do it in the phone app? Thanks.
@@andrewholder4539 With the app for the One R (that I hear you can use with the One X) there is a My Story mode (or something like that) where you can combine two clips. So in that case, you'd cut the parameters for your first clip and save it. Then cut the end part and save it. Then take it into My Story and combine the two. I mention the My Story function in my video about the One R app briefly that will give you an overview.

The apps, both desktop and phone don't really cater for using long clips and taking sections out of them, as you would in FCP or Premiere. I found the only way was to replicate a long clip then trim beginning and end in different places. A bit tedious but it works. What I'd like to do is mark an in point and out point and then lift onto the storyline. That 3 minute film took me about 10 hours to edit, including tidying it up at the end in FCP!

I edit video for a living, so I use Premiere. But I know it's pretty expensive. I've heard that Power Director works an is free or inexpensive and I think Davinci Resolve may be an option too.
Why is my instw studio is very slow and lag to edit?
It sounds like it could be your computer. 360 files are much larger than traditional video files and can lag computers that aren't fairly new.

I'm afraid not. Unless they've done some updating that I don't know about. You can stream with the camera (though I haven't myself) but I believe it's in 360.

I'm not sure what you mean. Can you clarify a little more? If you're asking if you can export full immersive 360 videos, yes you can.

@@Jaji1948 You have to render the immersive file WITHOUT putting it in a reframe editing mode. You render it as an MP4 and then you post it to TH-cam or Veer or other sites that support immersive video and view it there using goggles. At least, that's how I do it. I LOVE immersive video, but have not yet dove into it at a level that I"d like to.

Studio is not designed for the One. Would it work? I'm not sure. But technically there is software they offer through their website that is for the One and the Nano.

Good question! I haven't really tied the two world's together much. I do have a channel called "scojorising" on TH-cam, but I don't really do much with it other than to occasionally post a video. I have not used Studio in quite some time now. But the last time I used it, it did not have the ability to do slow motion. That may have changed, but if you have trouble finding it, you might try posting the same question on the Facebook page for the camera. Lots of helpful people there.
great video - again! the WIN and MAC versions of Studio are different - MAC one has the 3 coloured buttons and neater interface. WIN version does not have this. It also appears impossible to work on footage that you have sped up or added motion blur to (on your phone) in Studio -and you cant change speed or add motion blur in Studio. Both the app and STudio offer different options - so uou have to choose which ones you want and either edit on phone , in the app, or in STUDIO. Very constraining ... unless someone knows how? keep up the great vids Scojo!

Just so folks know. The camera software makes the selfie stick disappear BUT not the SHADOW. While differences in exposure can show the stitch lines and the temptation to hit calibrate and adjust is there, you first have to ask yourself am I looking at the shadow of the selfie stick. It's a 360 thing.

When I first downloaded it, you could only download it from their website. But I thought I heard you could get it on iTunes, but have not confirmed that. At last check, you can only edit one clip at a time in Studio. But I mostly use the app these days. So I'm not as up to date on it as I could be. Hope your editing goes well!

Hello. I need your help. I have an Apple Mac Pro 10.11.6 operating system that is no longer up to date. Until the appearance of the new Insta360 Studio 2020, I used a software version compatible with my computer. After updating I HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO USE Insta360 Studio. Please help me with an older software version so that I can reuse Insta360 Studio. I mention that I have an Insta360 one x camera. Thank you.

Sadly,, I haven't used Studio or a Mac since just after I got my One X. So I'm afraid I can't help you directly, but I can recommend going to the One X Facebook page and posting your problem there. You should find the answer you need. Even the Insta360 people monitor that page and can offer help.
Hi Scojo, excellent vid, thanks. I'm just starting with my One X and STUDIO. I just imported a 100fps vid and it was automatically in slow-mo in STUDIO. Hope this helps. Nice call out to Ben Claremont, a guru of mine as well.
Ben is great. The "spark" that led me to get into 360 was from a video of his. From what I can tell, the 100 fps now imports in slow motion but the 50 fps does not. Or at least that's what happens when I edit in the app. So I assume they did some kind of an update to it. Thanks for the heads up! Good luck with the camera! I still use mine almost daily.

I haven't rendered immersive video in Studio. I use Premiere for that, so I'm afraid I don't have the answer. I'm not sure if you can use keyframes in 360 in Studio. I think it will only allow keyframes in reframed video. 360 immersive video does not allow for many options when it comes to movement. You can get some movement and keyframing by using Premiere and the plugin called "VR Projection". Honestly, I'm just now getting deeper in the weeds with immersive video, so I may learn more in the coming weeks. Will definitely share videos of what I learned.

Thanks! Nothing major as far as updates. They do little tweaks here and there but nothing earth shaking. I've actually discovered the "View Finder" mode on the app and am using that primarily and then dumping those clips into Premiere. I pretty much only use studio to convert files into MP4s now.

What do you mean by interval shots? I just want to make sure I know what you mean. I do not use Davinci, so I don't have direct experience, but as I believe I've heard, you can use Davinci to edit 360.

it depends - you can reframe it to a traditional video or if you want to keep it a fully immersive video, you should compress it to an MP4 or something like that. When you go to render the video in studio, look for the options it offers you. Sorry, I don't have the software on the computer I'm using at the moment and am going off of memory. :-)

I wish I had better news. You can only edit one clip at a time. You can get a free version of Resolve that should work and I've heard people say that PowerDirector is good. But nope....no multiple clip options with Studio.
They have a solution for using it outdoors. Connect it to your Phone. Then you can see and do everything! Thanks for the video!

How do you get rid of the fish eye distortion?
You will rarely get rid of all of it. It's just the nature of the lenses. But you can do some adjusting in Studio or Premiere or even withing the app. Try playing with the pitch, pan, etc and see if it helps.

How to export the video in 5k?
Honestly, it's been long enough since I used this software that I've forgotten. I believe when you go to export the clip there is a selector for what resolution you want.
I am brand new to the Insta360 one x. I can't figure out how to import the video files into the Insta360 studio 2019 app on my MacBook Pro. I drag highlighted video files from a folder on my desktop to the import arrow in the software and nothing happens. Can you explain how to import the files? Thanks!!
Hmm, that should work. So I'm not sure what is happening. However, you can also go to "File" and then click "Open" and choose the folder there.
@@Scojoin360, thanks, I tried that as well and nothing is happening. The files are highlighted with the names from the camera, I haven't changed any names, but the files won't import. I doubled clicked on a insv file and it did open in 360 studio. Maybe the phone or ipad apps will work better. Kind of a disappointing start to using this camera.

Unfortunately no. Only the app and desktop software like Premiere can do it. They keep promising to make an update for this, but haven't produced yet.

Maybe you can help me out, if I import my 360 videos from the 360 R in the 2020 version, they don't run smoothly anymore. At the 360 R or my phone everything is fine but with the studio 2020 on my windows pc its just pure pain.
Well, I haven't used studio in quite a while, to be honest. So I would only be guessing. If you do it within the app, I believe it compresses it, so that's why it works well on the app. But when you go to your computer it doesn't compress it, so if you have an older computer, it'd get bogged down. But sadly, I'm must taking an educated guess. I mainly edit in either the app or Premiere or both these days.

Is there any info for renaming files? I started to rename some of my videos but then they would be ignored when I tried to open them again.
Hmm, I don't recall having any problems when I renamed files. But to be honest, I haven't used Studio now for quite some time. I mainly edit individual clips in the app and then compile them in Premiere, these days.

UPDATE: Here is the result from Last night while trying to edit videos on the PC via Insta360 Studio for PC (Obviously) I found
1. It has no HDR option
2. It has no speed adjustment for any video (The speed in which the video was taken is permanently like that)
3. The modes such as tiny planet have no use
4. The keyframe option is pointless After adding some to my video last night, nothing in my video has changed. How about people start explaining what keyframe is used for and how to use them?
5. There is no transition (The option is greyed out meaning it cannot be clicked on to use)
If I wanted to do a video where for example it rotates 360 degrees and then turns into another video, it cannot be done with the PC version of insta360 studio.
Dying to see you do this in Premiere....
I mainly do all of my reframed 360 video in the app these days. I don't use studio anymore. I'm also getting more into fully immersive 360, so using Premiere for that. So far, so good!

Thanks to your videos, I am quickly learning how to use and edit 360 videos! One quick question that I haven't been able to find the answer to anywhere. Once the video is saved on an iPhone phone, do you know how to transfer it back to the camera memory card and/or the studio one x to edit? I have saved a lot of clips to my phone as I ran out of memory but I want the original clips back to the memory card to transfer to the harddrive. Thanks
I can only speak to how I do it. I edit on the app (usually in my iPad instead of my iPhone) and then connect the iPad to my computer for finishing in Premiere (unless I'm sharing directly to social). If you want to work in Studio, you can use the included cable to connect to the camera to your computer and then export it as an .insv file to your computer to open it in Studio...if that makes sense. The nice thing about the One R app is that you can actually edit clips directly on the camera, rather than having to download it first. You couldn't do that with the One X app! Cheers!

@@yeahprick Hmm, that's weird. Perhaps I'm not completely understanding the question. I've never tried to upload back to the camera after downloading it, so I'm afraid I can't help there. But I have taken it from iPhone to desktop via a USB cable (it has to be a specific type of USB cable, it's very picky) but the way I use the most now is removing the SD card from the camera and putting it into a card reader and inserting it in my computer. Have you tried that?
@@Scojoin360 that's exactly what I want to do that I haven't been able to explain as well as I should haha. I want to upload the video back to the camera from the phone storage! With regards to the second part, that's what I will do going forward 👌. At the time, I was on holiday with no memory left on the camera, I transferred all the videos to a friend's iPhone insta360 one x app so I can shoot more footage on the camera. Now I want the original footage back from the iPhone to the memory card so I can download it and edit it on my android phone app. I hope that's a lot clearer. Again thank you for the quick replies!

Sadly you can't do any of that right now. I heard recently that a major update is coming soon, but I don't know what it contains. So stay tuned. I edit video for a living, so I use Adobe Premiere which is certainly a good software but a little bit expensive. I've heard that Power Director works and is inexpensive or free.
Hi I just got the 360 one x came with a 32gb card but after filming which didn't seem very long the card was full, when i connect to pc i noticed that there were 2 files for every video clip which is not good so you can only get half the footage you were hoping to get , is this normal? if yes then maybe i will have to send it back cheers really hope to hear from you I have been a long time sub and now finally made the purchase after months of deliberating, cheers ing-eeee
Thanks! Yes, it is supposed to load two files. They are one file for each lens. But when you play them back they become one. 32GB is fairly small. I've got a 64GB and a guy I did a video with today has a 128GB. I'd recommend at least a 64GB card and don't forget to format your card frequently. Thanks for being a long time sub!

Studio conserves the frame rate, so as you have to use any video editor to bring your various clips together you do any speed ramping there. But Insta360 already announced to add more to Studio 😉
The transitions are really a fine thing, you will learn to appreciate with "normal" videos (other than action footage).
I've used it as a static camera during an event, where I almost hid the camera and operated it on remote from a bit away. In overcapture I just mimicked natural camera turns, here the fade in - fade out comes in quite handy. Setting the transition to none makes it look like separate cameras filming the scene. So there is quite some use on that, I reckon just not on shooting action footage
Yeah that was a major disappointment! Glad to hear they are making improvements. But I'll still favor Premiere from now on.
Yet another video that just has to Involve Apple. I have yet to see anyone create a video about this using ONLY the CAMERA AND PC. The clowns who make these videos need to seriously stop using APPLE, and phone all phone apps and then passing it off as it works on PC.
Not sure why you are so upset. A computer is a personal choice and doesn't make anyone a clown. As a matter of fact, I've since moved to a Windows computer. You are welcome to use whatever computer you want. We all make personal choices based off the experiences we have. I'm a professional video editor so I chose Mac for many years. Now doing Windows 10.

Whether you meant it or not does not change the fact that everything you have in this video for editing only works on and for Apple Products. Since the market is made up of more Android and PC users, when you have a video titled what you have here it's going to get slammed. Android and PC users when they see Apple involved. People have every right to be aggravated.

How does it know which way to spin between keyframes?
In the video, you spun clockwise.
The first pan was a small angle, but the second was close to 270 degrees.
I was afraid it would take the shortest route between keyframes and pan counter-clockwise, but it went the long way around.
Does it then "remember" which way you spun it in the editor?
I think it remembers the direction in Studio, but sometimes forgets it in the app. Honestly, I'm not sure. I don't use either very much.
Is there a way to add an mp3 file (song or possibly my another audio file) over the 360 video in the One X Studio?
sadly no. Studio is only good for editing a single clip with no audio. It's almost less powerful than the app.

I've sent the dev team a number of suggestions, with changing the speed like in the phone apps a big one. Hopefully we'll see that. They seem open to user suggestions and are constantly improving this program. One very useful transition that you didn't talk about is "none". It's basically a cut. So if you just want to shift to a different viewpoint without a transition use that. People tend to over-use transitions so I really appreciate being able to to a quick cut.

Unfortunately, I don't have Studio anymore. It is a pretty incomplete program and I edit all my stuff either on the app or in Premiere. You can do a lot in the app. I think the key frames and transitions are in the bottom left corner. But they are immediately obvious. You have to click on something - either an icon or a word to get them to show up. Sorry, wish I could help more. I always found Studio to be an underwhelming program.

Yes. In fact, I think if you edit the original files (as opposed to converting them) you can save changes to them and work on them later. Since it doesn't let me do hyperlapses and slow mo, I've stopped using it. Bummer.

Question I recently purchased the insta360 one x, when I shoot videos it's all choppy and the audio stutters, any advise on how to smooth it out?
Without seeing it directly, the first thing I'd recommend is doing a "Gyro Calibration" on it. You can find that in the settings menu. Set your camera on a flat table and run the calibration. Only takes a few seconds. I'm not sure about the audio issue. Hopefully it's not the same issue I had. Mine was HORRIBLE crackling. I had to get the entire camera replaced. Hope that helps a little. You might try posting the same question on the Insta360 One X User Group page on Facebook. GREAT access to answers there.
Is this in Studio? because the program does have some pretty stiff PC requirements to run smoothly, my laptop isn't really up to it. Check this www.insta360.com/support/supportcourse?post_id=11139, at bottom, system requirements 16gb ram or higher?
I really liked your tutorial, but I have the vers. 3.3.2 of Studio 2019 for MAC, IMPOSSIBLE to use in the IMac, I have installed it several times, it does not accept the Videos made with the Camera Insta360 One X, I have written to the Support of Insta, more than a Week without finding the solution, it is supposed to download 2 files, it does only with one, it does not accept mp4 videos. If you can give me some advice I would really appreciate it.
Hmm, I don't have any experience with that issue. So you mean it's only downloading one of the 5.7K files?

@@rodolfoelgert1102 I haven't used studio in a while but I have a Mac and used it without any major problems. Now as I recall it took the two files from my folder and made it into one when imported into Studio (i.e. combining the two). Could that be what is happening?
Hello again, indeed, there is one of the problems. So far I can only export it directly from the Card, that is, I connect the Camera to the Computer and from there I export it as you show in the Video. When I open Studio 2019 in the Settings - Long Directory window, it opens two new windows of Finder, in one of them is Studio 2019, in the other Studio for One X and in the second window of Finder the other two folders with log and startup.ini. I think that the Program is perfect for working with Microsoft and Adobe, since it has the signature plug of that Firm. I work primarily with the Apple FCPX Editing Program and the Insta360 Software does not bring any direct or indirect communication with that Program even though the Propaganda says otherwise, specifically I could take the Camera Filming only through W_Lan to the phone and from the Phone does not turn out to Studio 2019, there is no case. Your Tutorial with the Basics is great, I was fascinated, thank you for letting us know your knowledge.

I installed insta360 studio on windows, end when i ad video it plays only music of video but screen is black no images, any ideas ..
Could be a number of things. My first thought was what is the speed of your computer? Is it potentially lagging the video?

@@povilaspovilaitis That's probably a bit slow for 360 footage. But as I've been finding out quite recently, I'm no expert on specs for computers. I've been through three in the last month trying to edit my documentary. But if I had to venture an educated guess, your computer may be a bit slow. Anyone else have any thoughts? If you want to try something different, you may try using Premiere or something like that and creating "proxies" to edit with. It makes for small miracles because it allows you to edit on a lower resolution file, but finish in full resolution.

This was taken with the short selfie stick but I have now bought the 3 meter and the video was shot in 4k because I forgot to switch back to 5.7k. I'm trying to achieve a full match video to watch back. Thanks for your help.
