I have so much appreciation for this game being one of the few games out there to actually follow the war on terror. All other shooters set in a modern setting are made up conflicts. I also think it’s sick how it’s focused on the operations that immediately followed 9/11 in late 2001 and early 2002. Wish more game companies had the balls to tackle these subjects.
To your point, this game is based on/heavily influenced by Operation Anaconda mission details. Read the Books "Not a Good Day to Die" and "Roberts Ridge" that cover that battle. This is probably my favorite "Modern Warfare" style game because of that attachment to the real world. And having spent a year in Afghanistan (2011-2012), I can say the feel is there.
@@tsilmanav I heard the last few missions were based on the Medal of Honor recipient John Chapman too. I have alone at dawn in my reading queue and I’ll definitely add your suggestions to the list! Those two books from the mountain of things I have read on the operation are the best summarized published accounts in the public spaces. There are declassified after action and thinktank documents but they are all very weighted by political/higher level military bias. So the books are a little better at objective pictures from the people in the fight. The game does a good job of showing some major individual fights from the actual mission, but also adding things to make it a more enjoyable game.
@@tsilmanav that’s awesome I’m very excited to read them. What branch were you in? I remember this game was not well received by critics and overshadowed by Battlefield, COD, and a crowded shooter market but now all over my feed is admiration and gameplays of it.
The Medal of Honor games were both amazing and honestly didn’t get the attention/appreciation they deserved. The campaign on number 1 was incredible and multiplayer on both were a lot of fun.
You should try out pacific assault if you have a pc. Its older but had a big emphasis on story building unlike Allied Assault or Frontlines. (MoH Frontlines was fantastic, also Airborne. The series is great.)
As a SOF vet who fought in the mountains of afghanistan, this game nails how brutal the opening stages of the war were. Fighting in knee high snow. Entire strongholds at 10,000 feet. I don’t think any other FPS portrays it as well as MOH does
A while ago I decided to play Ghost Recon Breakpoint while listening to his soundtrack and Warfighter’s and it completely upped the feel of the game. Kinda blew my mind

I need to play MOHW... I was actually deployed to Isabela City, Basilan in 2009 with JSOTF-P. When I found out they put that little city in a SOF video game, my mind blew. Not many know we were operating in that corner of the world during OEF-P.

Even the Call of Duty franchise never made the Taliban or Al Qaeda the actual enemy. Only Medal Of Honor was brave enough to do that. That says a lot. I like how the Medal Of Honor franchise stuck to historical authenticity as much as possible. It is the core tenets of the series. They never made useless unrealistic skins, no future warfare, no Nicky Minaj or Snoop Dog skins. Just pure military authenticity. In today's gaming landscape, you just have to respect that.

@williammoon7806 I think the install size on it was too much for most people as, atleast on the 360 if you only had the 12 gb hard drive that came with the pro, it took it nearly the whole thing
I got this game the day it came out. The hype for this game was overshadowed by BF3s launch cycle but they did a good job pumping it up. The campaign and multiplayer were distinct experiences being split developed by D/C and DICE... and using two different engines. Campaign is second to none in tone and immersion for an arcade shooter. UNREAL 3 or 4 looked amazing on release and the campaign showed so much potential. Fun tid bit i loved was the Mk14 was select fire and there were 3 or 4 different models for the Ak. Try picking a few up. The online experience was solid. The rush style mode was probably the most fun, score streaks were not OP. The graphics were pretty much a port over from BC2 vietnam and reskinned. I last played it online in 2018 stoll was solid. You can see the development from MoH to BF3 in the early pre beta videos of BF3. Was pretty sad when EA shut down the MoH series in general.
This game was such a gem. I miss when Dice had 2 separate IPs that felt similar but in different worlds. Also, aiming feels slow cause you’re locked at like 55 or 80 FOV vs modern games which most folks usually play at 120 FOV.
I played this game and thoroughly loved it and its authenticity. It was a really well done game better than any of the CODs at the time or have come since.

This and the Medal of Honor: Warfighter are the main reasons I did everything I could to find another Xbox 360 and I ended up with two of them. One from my local pawn shop back in January 2023 and then the other one from my brother in May of 2023 and I was very very happy that I have them also they both matte Black Slims from 2011 and 2012 which was cool to know they are both only 13 and 12 years old and haven't been played much

Its a shame the multiplayer servers arent online anymore, i was thinking about this game not long ago and was tempted to go back and play it again 😁 the multiplayer was a cool mix of battlefield and cod and i really enjoyed both games!

One of the many things that blew my mind in this game, was when any of the characters speak on their comms, you can hear their voices live as well if they’re near you. Way ahead of its time, let alone 2010.

So many people shit on this game but lets be honest, this was Modern Warfare 2019 before it was even a thought in anyone's mind and it frankly deserves more credit than it got/gets. Sliding, leaning, ragdolls, more realistic weapon play/sounds and animations, and unlike the COD 2019 campaign there was more. Nowhere close to WaW gore but still. All of that is stuff that was praised in COD 2019 (for the most part) and taken for granted in this.
this game was so well written, so well performed, and so well made that even if it doesn't hold up to modern standards, it's still gonna go down in my all time favorites.
