What did that chippa consume in its life? It has a hard life, I just want to see it doing work again. I have a soft spot for abused equipment, I feel bad for it. I feel everything has a soul and this one needs some love.
Those early heads should be 52 cc. They would raise your newer 304 around a point of compression. I'd hang onto those and just throw a set of the lower compression bridged rocker heads on that chipper motor. The early Gen 2 motors had smaller diameter head bolts too. Not so good for head gasket sealing. Gen 3 block with Gen 2 heads are the way to go.
HOWdy LUCORE / RICH, ... your AMC V-8 Heads are decent " 321" casting numbers = 58cc Chambers = screw-in Rocker STUDS (which can be replaced with SBC or BBC Screw-in Replacements ) COOP ...
Glad to hear you can use that block. That valve cleaned up good, she's gonna live.😁
That is going to be one badass chipper!
Tear down is going nicely.... good content and thanks....🔧🔧👍
Gobble Gobble Rich and the Gang!. Be safe Happy Holiday.
1972 sounds right with the screw in studs
Happy Thanksgiving Rich have a great holiday be safe if you are traveling
Those cyl heads with the screw in studs are far better than the later non-adjustable rocker style.
Happy Thanksgiving Rich!
A dingle-ball hone is perfect for a garage rebuild.

Once cleaned, what might be the Numbers stamped on the Distributor?

The studded heads are good for running roller rockers too. I think those heads are a good score for a low buck 304 hot rod car motor build.

Did you sandblast those vows
I'm placing my 304 in my Gremlin come spring time. I plan on racing it and winning a lot. Watch out GM, Ford, and Mopar drivers.
