  • Today is about an engine rebuild i have been working on in the backgroud for the past 16 months or so. Part 1 is a full timelapse on the motor being cleaned, painted and re-assembled. I installed new bearings, piston rings, seals, gaskets and valves because one was bent. Hope you enjoy!
    Thank you for watching.

Old mechanic here and about halfway through I thought, "Wait, what?! A young guy that's not glued to a screen?! Awesome." Good job, love the, "Never done this before, but I'll give it a go" attitude.

Nice man love the paint purple looks mint.
It’s refreshing to see someone have a go at this with no previous experience.
I’ve always wanted to have a crack at it myself.
I’ve got a au falcon xr Ute with 400 thousand kms on original engine they are bullet proof.
    Much love mate

6:34 Always use GM sealant when fitting welsh plugs, just a light smear and bang them in. It's a bit pricey, but it's worth it

i use some pliers to hold the tension up straight and got all the engine and crank in TDC then just slipped the cover on.

14:07 always tighten down things evenly to make things seal better, on engine cover you can see the first bolt was tightened down all in one go which its better to bring it down little by little the same as you do an engine head

I don’t bother with any single cam engines before AU intech xr6 red top .. au is the first one that fixed the head gasket blowing problem and to have the proper alloy sump with a proper bottom end AKA the single cam Barra the other ford six engine that’s actually worth fixing is mighty FG Barra six !!!! one other old engine that was the 4.1 xf engine 250 cross flow was good with triple webbers hanging off it intake in actual fact I’ll dumb down a intech and custom make a triple Webber side draft setup as the old push rod six is way past it’s used by date soon as sohc come out the thing I’ve done with a 4.1 cross flow was put a e series crank and rods in it made it rev way better with the e series fully counter waited crank

Hi what's the best mods to do to a Ed 4.0 ltr just to freshen up & a little bit more power? Thanks ✌️

Maybe look at cam upgrades and headers. It can be a little costly, just google some cam upgrades and research what you need, I think there's a chip you need for the ecu to tune it. Apart from that I'm not very knowledgeable.

Yea the factory computers cant really cope with aftermarket cams etc etc. J3 chip is needed i think. Wifey has an ED fairmont. All ive done to it is a full 2.5" exhaust and fitted AU fuel injectors as they have a better spray pattern, went through and did dizzy rotor and cap, Eagle HT leads and set of plugs. Checked and adjusted the ignition timing ( bit of a process ). Runs good. The bigger exhaust made a huge difference to it, opened it right up and now i find it uses less fuel too.
