Hi guys! We got our port clutch rebuilt as well. Getting it out and in isn't that bad but the rebuild can be tricky and requires a machine shop with presses. A great test you can do when on the hard is to lock in forward and reverse and try to turn the prop if it turns your clutch is bad. Also, when you do your saildrive maintenance look for brass and metal at the drain plug. If a finger dab is sparkly that is another sign. It is a bit expensive but you'll be so happy with them working well next time out. Enjoy your time away. I hope we can catch up with you at some point. Safe travels.
We had shifting issues on our Helia, lasted a year. Just before tearing apart the transmissions a Mx guy at wanted to look at our props, which where a year old. Coincidence, they were taking too large a bite in reverse and prevented us shifting back into neutral. FYI. Something to check. Great job out there, to see a young couple doing this lifestyle is an inspiration. Maybe we will see you out there!
Welcome back to FL. Enjoy your next 3 months. Glad you didn’t go with the Buick. Was happy to hear you will continue your videos before heading back to the Caribbean. Good luck with your repairs. Thanks for sharing❗️
I have a dream - to sail around the world with my dog and experience life on the open sea. But there's one thing I’m missing - a sailboat. I can’t afford one, but I truly believe that with the right boat, my dog and I could create unforgettable memories, exploring new places together. If you have a yacht you no longer use or need, I’d be forever grateful if you could consider giving it to us. We promise to care for it as our own, and it would mean the world to us. Thank you for reading!
Hey Walter! We had the same dream and you too can save up your money to do this, just like we did! We have meet people sailing with $20,000 a year budgets and people with $20,000,000 a year budgets and the best thing about it, they both have the same view of the sunset!
Guys I got my 2012 Traverse in 2020 for $9995. AT Terry Thompson Chevy in Daphne, Alabama with less than 75 miles so the Equinox is great but my life isn't really good right now. I have faith as well and God Bless yall! My Traverse is now paid for with 1 leak and running strong! -Cliff Fairhope, Alabama USA 🇺🇸
@@bamabldr66 I would take the equinox any day of the week, but I wasn't a fan of the traverse' design. Having to fold down seats to access the back ones was odd, my bro in law had one. But the equinox, she ran well and was great on fuel. It was just too bad that the hail damage wasn't repaired properly on mine and when I took it back for the roof leak, it was full of mould, so they bought me out. I now drive a GMC Sierra and I love it.
Hey @Rainfinger you commented this in another video I believe and I started looking it up. This looks like a great place for next year. If you have any recommendations or contacts please email us
Soooo many questions!!! Really appreciate your sharing closing up boat. Ours is closed up now and in projects. Why Stuart? Might DM you as we grew up in Martin County and headed back soon to prepare to sail this winter. Enjoy life back in US!
@@adventurecrews so many logistical question like what/where did you get those vacuum bags and do you have a preferred laundry detergent that’s clean or easy to store on boat? Fav boat items, vacuum, etc?

Hello! My wife and I have been watching your videos for a couple months. We are booking a charter in the Abacos on a Leopard 42 thanks to you guys. 😃. We just saw in one of your videos and Emily said “ how to convince your wife”…my wife is all in and she wanted me to ask you “how to convince my husband?”. 😃. Great videos guys.

@@adventurecrews We did it on our last boat and will do it when we put our current boat back together (currently torn apart for a huge refit). As long as the current spot is below the shower pan level you should be fine.

We actually looked that up and it was still going to be around $5,000 for 3 months!! We were getting a surcharge for an airport pickup AND because we didn't already have car insurance.
I have been sailing for 37 years out of Sheepshead Bay Brooklyn, New York. I'm no expert on engines or transmissions. However, it appears that both transmissions failed simultaneously. The odds of this happening due to normal wear and tear are pretty slim. My thought is that there might be something that you may be doing while shifting from forward to reverse that may have caused the problem. Are you letting it idle in neutral for a while to slow the engine down before slamming it into reverse or visa versa? Just a theory. I know that when you are in panic mode in a tight situation you have to avoid some impending disaster, there's a tendency to rush things a bit.
Unfortunately this started on the starboard engine as we were going through hells gate last summer and did not start on the port until we were back in the Bahamas. Port engine was not nearly as bad as the starboard but a started relying on it more and more as we made our way south.
@@adventurecrews I have been through Hells Gate several times. I bought my O'Day 23 and later my O'Day 30 from Nichols Yacht Sales in Mamaroneck. I had to go through Hells Gate down the East River. You have to hit it on high slack tide and ride the magic carpet escalator as the water empties south on the Ease River. That is not a place to experience any kind of engine trouble.
Haha we talk about it all the time..but it typically goes a little like this....Cole- "We should do the loop in a Leopard power cat one day!" Emily- "I am not swimming in that water...why would we do that?" LOL and that's about as far as it goes....
@@adventurecrewsBeing you were 40 miles away from the hurricane and only experienced 30s knot gusts technically did you really go through a cat 4 hurricane . ?
