Is my country buy not entirely my vocabulary but let's go with the translation. Socks = Medias Underwear = Calcetines, Pantalonsillos, Boxers The common thing with Dominican Spanish is that, often... some English words have more than one Spanish word that may describe the same item. So in the end is simple but at the same time a little bit confusing 😕. Another thing with Dominican markets is that not all items are available for sale; for example Tall socks, winter socks. In most of the Dominican markets you will just find the common items that can be found everywhere. I hope my comments can be used as a helpful reference 🙂 Best Regards!!

This town is one of the most beautiful places in the DR. I live an hour away from there, I go there on weekends to buy fresh vegetables. I work in the US for 6 weeks and go to the DR for 3 weeks. I don't consider myself an expat yet, but I have made the DR my home.
also the word calcetines in latin america, is a lone word! it's of Arabic origin. When Arabs ruled Spain 800 years plus, words were definitely borrowed.
Nice videos, thank you for showing us your adventures. The Dominican Republic is a great place, Constanza is a beautiful small city in the mountain. The Dominicans people are the best, great people!
It depends on the level of education. You can say medias or calcetines. The thing is that it is more common to hear medias. But if you say calcetines to somebody from middles class upwards they would understand. But im guessing your accent would still get in the way :p
I’ve watched dozens of videos about my country, and this one has to be on my top 3 favorites! You guys are so authentic, upbeat, and nonjudgmental; you would fit right in into our culture. Thank you for appreciating all that our country has to offer ❤
@@adventurecrews Will do! And as for your question, I think the only place where we say medias instead of calcetines, is the DR 😂 Calzones is underwear that looks like short pants, so maybe that’s what the woman thought you were asking her for lol Dominican Spanish is not the easiest one, so don’t judge your ability to learn Spanish from it 🤗
What a beautiful area! I can't believe how much produce they provide for so many other countries. I do wish more videos would be shown about the hard work and man power it takes to plant, harvest, and prepare the land, then we could have a better appreciation for it and the people who put in the hours. I would be very nervous about traveling up and down the mountain with all the train. What a cool adventure that was! Can't wait for the next adventure!
Hello, I never comment on videos but I was compelled to post this. I am from DR and I live in Miami Florida. First I wanted to thank you for your video and such a great job at that. Secondly appreciate your openness to the folks there because you are not going to find better people than in the DR. They are good hearted people by nature. And thirdly, about the socks, in other Spanish speaking countries, like Mexico for example, they say “Calcetín” in others like the DR we say “Medias” we do understand both of those so it not a problem if you say either. Just had to get that out there!! Thank you for sharing your experience in my beautiful island! Roberto Pastoriza
