In a live music venue you’ll come across lots of differnet mics and It can seem intimidatinig at first, but in my experience the selection is usually pretty standard.
We’re going to go through every mic in a venue mic locker, from regular dynamics to condensers, and some less common but common enough extras.
You’ll learn what to expect and how to use each one of them.
I’ll even cover DI boxes so you’ve got a complete picture.

A little tip: Remember to choose the mic that sounds the best (to you) on your instrument/vocalist. More expensive mics aren't always the best for everything. For instance: A condenser CAN be a really bad choice on vocals if you are in bad/challenging acoustics like a hall or perhaps a tent.

sE Electronics V7 is replacing SM58 for vocals in the industry (same price). Less mud, more clarity, excellent handling noise, and super-cardioid for great feedback rejection. They do require good mic technique, held closer to the mouth, less moving around (typical for super/hyper-cardioid mics). I own several (wired, and wireless capsules on Shure transmitters), and love them! Give your singers a quick tutorial on how to use them, and get ready for them to sound fantastic! :)
The Behringer BA-19A boundary mic actually sounds a bit better than the Shure, and is way cheaper! Several comparison videos on TH-cam. The grill doesn't like being stepped on though (I found out the hard way. Lol). No outer kick mic needed (they get nice and deep).

A venue I work at recently bought some V7's and I loved them. The head engineer was apparently having feedback issues though, so got rid of them and went back to the shitty old EV mics :/
I'm gonna start bringing my own mics as backups for when bands don't have their own, I just need the funds to buy them first!

I agree with all of this.
Replaced all my 58s with V7s and I would never look back. I deal with too many quiet female vocalists and the rejection of the V7 is ESSENTIAL.
The SE boundary mic is also fantastic (but a bit hot)

I'm glad you made this video. No matter how much we know about this matter, it is always good to hear other opinions.
For me, I thank you for your effort.

    Great Video!
I tell anyone who is building up a kit for live sound to always have a couple SM57's as they are the most versatile "Allrounder" microphone that will never fail you.

I think it's important to note that when he is talking about DI boxes his terminology is slightly off.
The host says DI boxes accept a line level input, in actuality DI boxes convert HI-Z (high impedance) signal from a generally unbalanced 1/4" connection to LOW-Z (low impedance balanced) which is then output MIC LEVEL, generally via an XLR connection.
