      Theres a moment where Ray hurt his leg or ankle and tyson is carrying him to the stadium and I'm thinking just dragoons hurricane attack to blow him to the stadium. They dont do that. He just carries him the entire way. I like that

      This series and beyblading irl was my childhood for at least 3-4 years. I have no idea how much money my parents spent on beyblades 😂 But I had soooo many of them. Trygle. Drasil. Dragoon. So, so, SO many more. None are left sadly, I'd give a finger and a toe to have those back 😢😢💔

      @Kaiden X They're more symbolic than actual living independent spirits in the series after.
      Driger, Amphilyon, Dranzer and Dragoon showing that they could easily leave, turn on their bladers if abused or just disobeying an order they don't agree with is one of the many things I loved about them.
      Also Sharkrash getting closer with Mariam after Max explained why he won't give up Draciel to the Saint Shields.
      Also the Bit-Beasts really had beautiful God/Royal/Deity/armor-like designs. Ugh feel like a kid again. Their physical design was always so captivating and fascinating to me.

      @Titanxzero1 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@ashlirabid9614 I don't see the issue with them being symbolic. Idk I guess I just wasn't as deeply attached to Bit Beasts like that to feel bothered then they took a back seat in later series'. *shrugs*

    The original Beyblade is where it all started. Tyson was one of my most favorite protagonists. I really think people sell him short because they are too much in love with Kai, but Tyson also has some incredible development in the series.

    • @raytaku_
      @raytaku_  ปีที่แล้ว +18

      Really? I always thought Tyson was the most popular. I agree, he’s one of my favourite protagonists too, and my favourite character in Beyblade. Plus Dragoon is awesome!

    • @0axis771
      @0axis771 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      @@raytaku_ You are more likely to find vocal people praising Kai and dismissing Tyson and thinking that he's not that great and only wins because he's the protag.

    • @EWOODJ
      @EWOODJ ปีที่แล้ว +16

      Kai is my least favorite of the 4 but I don’t dislike him…much. The whole “he only wins because he’s the protagonist” is such a lame reason for dismissing Tyson.
      If they want to play that game, Kai is only as strong as he is because he’s supposed to be Tyson’s main rival. Training using over the top and unnecessary methods and looking cool to his fans.

    • @toastywozzy
      @toastywozzy ปีที่แล้ว +5

      I like how in each arc one character gets their time for growth 1st ray then max followed by tyson and finally kai. The only odd one out is that kai isnt the one to get the decisive victory during his tournament arc against the blitzkrieg boys which i thought was an odd choice

    • @0axis771
      @0axis771 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      @@toastywozzy I think the reason for that is because Kai has been so obsessed to win that he ended up abandoning his team and Dranzer to get Black Dranzer. And when he lost to Seaborg, he was once more tempted to get Black Dranzer but chose to rather accept defeat over winning by abandoning his friends again.

    There was such an emphasis on bit beast in season 1 and 2. It's basically a nonexistent concept in GRevolution, just the name of the beyblade and visuals of the bit beast for familiarity but only for the viewers, not for the characters

    • @raytaku_
      @raytaku_  ปีที่แล้ว +15

      I’m glad you pointed this out! I got that feeling from GRevolution too. We visually got to see the bit beasts a lot but in terms of their involvement in the story vs previous seasons, it was much less for sure…

    • @0axis771
      @0axis771 ปีที่แล้ว +17

      @@raytaku_ I think because they wanted to separate the Bit-Beast plot and instead focus now on the character battles for the battles. It's why you never get a moment where Dragoon talks to Tyson.
      And in G-Revolution, Dizzie no longer exists. Because as it turns out, Dizzie is a dub only character. Seems the dub for G-Revolution decided that they'll stick closer to the JP version there, despite the censorship of other things.

I was 9 years old back then and the folks we were visiting had kids my age too. One morning, as we were watching TV with them, this show came on and the boy and I were so excited. I had never seen anime before that time and I had no idea what the show even was but it was a cool cartoon with action and that was all I needed. He even had the actual Beyblade spinner toy and I had so much fun with it😂 Eventually, we returned back to Nigeria after the trip was over and I never saw the show again cause anime wasn't readily available in my country back then and only a few aired on cable and internet was still expensive to own but it always lingered in my memory😌

    Finally someone talking about how amazing the original beyblade series was man I love beybalde all the characters are awesome . And it was presented in such a good way it felt like you were watching the playoffs of an actual sports with a commentator and everything. The matches and art style were awesome. Too I think it’s seriously underrated like it was popular cause of the toys and still is to a degree but coming up when bigger anime were out such as Pokémon and yugioh really hurt it’s popularity.

    One more comment, did anyone else watch Beyblade 2000 in Canada? I've never seen the Europe Tour! Our broadcast station "YTV" didn't buy these episodes! They completely skipped all of those episodes, in Canada it skips from the US Tournament directly to the Russia World Championship! And it's such an interesting arc as well! I can't believe they skipped all of these episodes, it really adds a lot of interesting characterizations and landscapes. I can't believe our station was too cheap to buy these episodes, wow. I never expected to learn something new about the show. Did anyone else experience this?

      I live in Europe in the Netherlands.
      And our broadcasting company never finishes anime in terms of season or episodes, because they find out and didn't realise anime can be quite violent.
      We had the G-revolution toys but not the season. So a lot us were puzzled where all these new Bit-Beasts, Beyblades and characters came from.
      Shaman King lasted a few episodes in our country. Same with Card capteror Sakura, Gundam and Sailor moon.

      What!?!? That’s so odd, why would they exclude it 🤔. It’s one of the more enjoyable arcs too. Roberts squad and their Bit Beasts really did seem at the time an impossible challenge for the Bladebreakers to overcome, and when they did pull it off it sure was awesome for us viewers watching.

Lol the TH-cam app on my phone was so ass, I had to go on the actual web browser and watch it. I've watched all of the Beyblades up to the one with Gingka, but nothing else hits like Beyblade 2000. I really liked the 2D beyblade animations over the 3D beyblade animations. And the cast of characters is extremely likeable and I really enjoyed how they explore different parts of the world and go into each character's background in such detail. It genuinely felt like a grand story. I know a lot of the show was cheesy like saving the dog, but much later iterations of the show were over the top like showing someone parting the sea using a beyblade. Some scenes were so sad like Ray (which I now realized that's how they localized Rei) vs Bryan, so sad because they actually showed someone clearly breaking sports rules but not getting punished due to the referees making bad calls, which happens a lot in real life. I was always so surprised to hear this was just the first season, to me it felt like each arc was a season but in my country they took a while to buy all the episodes. And the bitbeasts were very creative and a really good business decision, it drew a lot of kids to what was just a simple spinning top toy.

    Oh right. I forgot to comment on this retrospective, was a great trip down memory lane, though I didn’t get to see this show on Jetix as much as I would’ve liked.
    I just wanted to highlight differences between the anime and the manga since I took time to read the manga in full a while back. To go down the line, Carlos is actually a composite of several Blade Sharks from the manga and the series starts with a much weaker mook beating Tyson and taking his generic Beyblade; after Tyson’s first big loss of the series, he sulked in the rain until coming across Hurricane Jin, who hurls abuses at Tyson to fire him up, gives him his second blade Ultimate Dragoon (aka, the first Beyblade ever made in real life and arguably the worst one ever made), and… doesn’t appear in the anime until G-Revolution under the name Jin of the Gale; Tyson’s actual big encounter with Carlos in the manga, complete with the plot point about Tyson needing an OP launch with a longer cord, happens instead at a local tournament… where Tyson mastered his launch to the point of ruining his hands so he needed to use his mouth and feet instead; Kai’s reason for running the Blade Sharks is because he has daddy issues and expresses them with a burning hatred of all things Beyblade, so he aims to be the best at it before using the combined power of the Four Holy Bit-Beasts to erase the concept from existence; to sate his hatred for Beyblade in the meantime, Kai makes a point to have the Blade Sharks steal the blades of others to crush under a wrecking ball at their abandoned junkyard base and punishes any failure with the same fate; Tyson and Kai’s first battle happens after Carlos defies Kai’s orders to not mess with Tyson again (by kidnapping Kenny and siccing the entire Blade Sharks gang on him when he came to the rescue), where Kai saves a depleted Dragoon from being crushed under a wrecking ball by Carlos and Jin appeals to Kai’s pride to let Tyson fight for Dragoon’s ownership instead going finder’s keepers; Kai fights using Ultimate Frostic Dranzer at this point; Tyson and Kai fight best of three rather than best of one with Kai easily winning the first round and Tyson narrowly taking the second round with a resolute burst of new power that also broke its own blade, Kai then calls a draw and claims both of their blades are too damaged to go on despite only taking superficial damage himself; Tyson’s next blade is born from putting the Dragoon bit into an unfinished prototype made from his estranged brother Hiro and doing target practice with it, causing Dragoon to fuse with and evolve the unfinished blade into Dragoon Grip Attacker; Max starts the series out using Draciel Metal Ball Defenser; the Japan Nationals actually play out really closely to the anime, the main two differences before the Semi-Finals being that we see Kenny’s fight with Kai in full and that Ray is the only future Beybreaker on scene who starts out with his S-Series blade, Driger Slash; Kai’s blade at this point in time is Dranzer Auto Change Balancer while Tyson’s Dragoon is upgraded to Dragon Storm S (aka, Dragoon Storm) after Ray first breaks it; after Tyson wins at the finals, he gets Kai to reconcile with his father (the grudge forming after he walked out on the Kai and his grandfather to pursue toy-making), who attended the tourney to see Kai fight from the audience; Kai’s grandfather is not evil and does not affiliate with the Russians in the manga canon, simply being a big shot CEO who wants Kai to take after him; after the Japanese Nationals, Jin takes the four Bladebreakers to China, where Tyson gets separated from the rest only to meet and befriend Lee, who’s in similar dire straits, and they team up to survive; once Tyson and Lee find their friends again… the viewer is immediately greeted with the other White Tigers attacking the Bladebreakers, notably with Kevin giving Max a curbstomp; once White Tiger’s collective beef with Ray is established, Gary and Lee battle Kai (who was gifted Dranzer Spiral from his father) and Tyson respectively and both lose before finally comprehending why Ray started his globe-trotting; later on, Max and Tyson would travel to America together to meet Judy and Micheal, who are both more openly friendly in the manga, with Tyson and Micheal hitting it off immediately; Tyson and Micheal team up to stop a band of kid bullies, even foiling their illegal mod made from some tires with teamwork; Tyson and Micheal battle off-screen twice, each side getting a win but couldn’t do a tie-breaker before Tyson and Max had to fly back to Japan; the Demolition Boys attack Max’s dad’s shop where Tala and Wolborg mop the floor with Tyson and Dragoon, though Boris reveals after the fact that Tyson’s failed desperation attack actually left a hairline crack across Wolborg’s entire frame (this feat fuels Tala’s enmity towards Tyson for the foreseeable future); Max upgrades his blade to Draciel Shield and breaks it in by interfering with Tyson and Tala’s fight before being asked to withdraw; after Dragoon and Driger got broken by Demolition Boys attack, they were both promptly upgraded to the F Series; the Demolition Boys are still hyper-militaristic jerks in the manga but they don’t have the ability to steal Bit-Beasts and they don’t participate in the World Championship tournament whatsoever; the World Championship in the manga is a straightforward 128-team single tournament bracket rather than a series of smaller national tournaments to qualify for the world stage and then a Top 8 bracket like in the anime; tournament matches in the manga function similarly to the Brazilian Knock-Out rules from Beyblade Metal Masters (or the WRGP rules from Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D’s), where two teams of three bladers send one member to battle single-cell till one side loses and then the losing team sends their next blader to fight the winner, and then the cycle repeats until one team loses three times total (though in this case, the winner is allowed a fresh launch); speaking of Brazil, they’re a trio of nondescript randos in the manga, and Ray makes a point to 3-0 their entire team with his new Driger Fang after the Bladebreakers see Lee and Micheal do their same for their own first matches; Japan battles America in the second round, where Max solos Steven and Eddy off-screen before Micheal takes him down, then Tyson breaks in his new Dragoon Fantom to beat Micheal; Johnny of the Majestics 3-0s the White Tigers (Kevin, Gary, and Lee), to the shock of the Bladebreakers; Kai picks a fight with Johnny, loses badly, picks a fight with Robert immediately after, and then loses even worse; in preparation for the Top 16 battle with the Majestics, Max upgrades to Draciel Fortress (and beats Ray in a battle for a spot in the next match) and Kai follows suit with Dranzer Flame; at the Top 16, Kai asks for the match against the Majestics to be best of three battles, after which Kai and Robert’s rematch ends with Kai as the decisive superior of the two; Tyson and Johnny kick off the second battle only for the Demolition Boys to storm in and demand that the Bladebreakers fly out by helicopter with them to a remote island for Round 2, they accept and are allowed to bring both the White Tigers and All-Starz with them as backup; before leaving for the final battle, Tyson’s archeologist father has Hiro pass along a mysterious magnetic Beyblade part to Tyson, which he accepts; in the manga, Tyson’s battle with Ian happens after the helicopter touches down and the twelve good guys are immediately assailed by a squad of shock troopers (as in actual adult soldiers using Beyblades via their gun-like launchers); after some mild struggle with Ian’s Wyborg turning invisible, Tyson wipes him out without too much issue while Max carried the counterattack against the shock trooper battalions (Ray and Kai raced ahead while everyone else’s blades broke down from the sheer numbers disadvantage); in the manga, Ray is the one to fight Spenser and Seaborg… atop some high pillars overlooking a bottomless pit, Ray wins after Spenser sends him and Driger flying with his big finishing move only to use the rubble kicked up to parkour back and then retaliate with their own Super Attack finisher from the new higher ground; Bryan fights Kai next… after overwhelming him with an onslaught from several hundred shock troopers, though Max and Draciel intervene right as Bryan sends in Falborg to snipe an easy KO, leaving him in a panic as it’s now two against one with his shock troopers already beaten; Tyson replaces the tip of his Dragon Fantom’s base with the magnetic artifact he got earlier and goes to face Tala, who’s upgraded to Wolborg 2 (his only blade in the anime); Tyson and Tala’s second battle is much closer than the first as Dragoon pulls every trick in the book to get one over Wolborg but she is too tough and Tala is too clever, leaving Tyson worse and worse off with each exchange; one power of friendship moment later (Ray, Kai, and Max finished licking their wounds from their earlier fights and came to cheer Tyson on) and Dragoon begins magnetically putting itself back together from all the pieces that broke off throughout the fight and then evolves into Dragoon Victory; Dragoon quickly returns the favor on the beat down Wolborg gave him and then wins decisively with his first use of Victory Tornado; meanwhile, Emily of the All-Starz took the radio equipment and broken blades of the Russian shock troopers to SOS the mainland for a ride home; after the Demolition Boys’ final defeat, the Bladebreakers get back to the World Championship in time for the quarter-finals and sweep the competition so easily it happened off-screen
    … man that was a lot…

      @@raytaku_ It was my pleasure. I’m absolutely gonna have way less to talk about with both the V-Force and G-Revolution anyways since Volume 6 (which housed the whole Bladebreakers vs Demolition Boys showdown as a mega chapter that takes up half a manga volume) also introduced Daichi in his own side story and dedicated a side story of his misadventures that ran mostly concurrent to the V-Force plot and then re-tooled his side features to the filler content of the G-Revolution manga. This is on top of the V-Force and G-Revolution storylines of the manga being much more straightforward and brief than their anime counterparts regardless.
      … also I’m going to need a new heart on my last comment, I namedropped Voltaire(who doesn’t exist in the manga) when I meant to say Boris. On that note, Black Dranzer isn’t a thing either.

      @@raytaku_ Rewatching the video one more time so I can pick out.some extra differences I missed and jot them as I watch the video through.
      Starting off back at the Japanese qualifiers, all of the qualifying rounds for the tournament were royal rumble affairs with Kai (playing as tank) and Kenny (using his Jumping Base to evade all confrontation and make it to the Top 8 by waiting out the fight timer) being the last ones standing before Kai all-or-nothing’s Kenny out (revealing that his then-new Dranzer can change between three tips on its base on command to change tactics and power output on the fly); Kenny was given access to BBA resources by a friendly lab rival of Jin’s, which was the source of the innovations for Dragon Storm S in the match against Ray; the Bladebreakers do not experience extended stays in China, America, Europe’s EU countries, or Russia over the course of the series; Ray at no point loses access to Driger’s bit beast… yet; Kevin was the third main fighter of the White Tigers instead of Mariah in the manga as the Galux blade was not conceived during publication; the Majestics do not armor up for battle and do not carry themselves as haughtily as their anime counterparts despite being the undisputed strongest team present before the Bladebreakers dethroned them; the White Tigers and All-Starz never interact at any point during their time in the World Championships beyond volunteering to back up the Bladebreakers against the Demolition Boys; the Majestics don’t tacitly support the Bladebreakers in their battle against the Demolition Boys like in the anime, declining to join the island excursion with the other rival teams (though Robert does offer his support in spirit once they’ve already left); for the final battle, Tala is not given cybernetic augmentations to become supercomputer-esque and instead merely crafted Wolborg 2 himself to avenge Tyson nearly breaking the original (which both Bladebreakers and Demolition Boys were oblivious to in the moment); in terms of hax and supernatural nonsense, the manga version of Tyson vs Tala is much more grounded and tame (read: no space-time distortions, creation of stars, or wayward Bit Beasts) due to the lower stakes, so the most shenanigans we get are Dragoon making mini-tornados and afterimage copies (totally standard at this point) while Wolborg generates ice attacks while shrugging off everything thrown at it… well, before Dragoon puts his broken pieces back together and evolves but that’s splitting hairs by comparison; Dragoon never actually talks to Tyson at any point; Tala remains hostile to Tyson after losing in his last stand; due to the nebulous concluding point of the manga’s first storyline, there is no “everyone has a friendly free-for-all” ending; Black Dranzer, the Dark Bladers, and basically all of the national rep teams are all anime invention; Dizzi being in Kenny’s laptop and the two announcers are English dub addition to the already expansive world of the anime
      Okay, that should do it for good.
