Cool! Ann was my instructor at VIR. Good folks.
I can't wait to get our car back out on track. We run the twin engined FX32
Love 24huers de Lemons. The foremost classy guys on the track. The interesting thing is the huge difference in cars and drivers alike on one course.
Looking like a great project. Tons of parts available and cheap!
Couldn't agree more!
And it needs ‘em, haha Not most reliable choice, but sure makes good sounds. Ponycars have been so popular because they have the right ingredients: big engine up front, rear drive, medium to small size and weight. Winner in fun department!
Randy,, my guy! When are you going to have a ford racer?? God bless!! Good to see you!!
Hi Randy! I just realized that we recently passed the 40th anniversary of the time we first met in February 1983. That was also the occasion of my first autocross, the Miami Double Trouble race.
Hi, Jerry, I remember that early morning drive from Melbourne to Miami area. You had a cool Rabbit, right\? Wait, maybe Mazda GLC?
@randypobstofficial Mazda GLC at that event. A Rabbit soon after because you smoked me with your Rabbit. ;)
Cool and fast. RP is the Best!
lol i actually remember that car at the lemon's i was trying to keep up in the 72 datsun b210 lol. had a fix it again tony (fiat) in that race too. what year ahh lol . want to do lemon' again soon what a blast, painted ours with paint ball guns , still have it
Should be exciting. You should paint the car the universal old person color.,,,beige or taupe! Maybe light grey. Then put a bunch of distinctly elderly companies on there like you have now, but go with brands that don't exist anymore and some that do, like Metamucil',Tang, Chock ful'o nuts, Sanka, BenGay, Fixodent would play for both ways, Burger Chef, Kirby Vacuums, Diner's Club Card, and maybe Winston cigarettes since Marlboro has become so popular again.
I've got a '98 fbody near Orlando. I still hope I can meet you before I croak.
I hope so, too, thanks. Honored. Is yours running?
I see you've also received the free Summit Racing cap! It's a funny reminder that I spent way too much money on that site :D
Me too! Summit has it all
I love Summit Racing, we can get just about everything we’d ever need there, quick in the mail. Even a warehouse here in Atlanta. Huge dream-weaver store. Summit is a partner on my Randit ‘77 Trans Am, and it also the best place to buy what I need for the Trans Am and even my Flyin Moose Volvo 👍 cue: @summitracing @yokohamatire
While waiting for a zl1 I bought a 96 z28 like I had in college.. Just finished doing lifters and injectors for the first time on the LT1. I don’t know but I love that engine!
Sooo excited you're gonna fix up an LT1!
Yessir, already have it built by my Randit Trans Am buddy Nathan Amaral USAF
I'd leave it as is and name it "Dolly". It's the car of many colors. Even if it's not all that fast, watching the cowl shake and creaking body that sounds like an old pirate ship should be entertaining.
Coat of many colors, haha. We do need a clever name. Fireturd is too rude for me...
Dolly is a good name, especially when it breaks and gets pushed around a shop on a dolly. Good name for a race car!
Love this informal chat about a cool project! I’m looking forward to the updates.
Thanks, it's for real for sure
oh, thats a ripe lemons car; for sure.
best wishes
"Ripe". 😆😆😆
That sounds awesome (work on it to race it), Keep us updated on the progress of the car if you can.
That’s the plan! Thx 👍👍
Lol imagine being a first timer in 24hrs of lemons, in your legit $500 car, and you find out you're racing against Randy Pobst
LOL imagine geting better at racing with a bunch of inexperienced n00bs
We're having trouble with t5 transmission problems with our ford Falcon drift cars. Third gear leaves chat and we're needing someone to make us some sort of solution.
Less power. Haaa. Please excuse my tease. Hate when the trans leaves the chat. Hit theInternet, I'm sure you have. No quick answer here. Firebird has a T56 6-spd
Drive in A LEMON
Cheap fun - Lucky Dog, too!
let's just say..... I didn't have much luck with this engine. But I wish you the best :).
Uh, ohhh. I understand they might be the best ever. We shall see. Dare I ask, what happened?
@@randypobstofficial Don't get me wrong... the engine is actually pretty stout. And if the dang Optispark unit doesn't get you, you will be most likely just fine. Making sure that there are no leaks (oil or water) above the Optispark is absolutely crucial. Power washing the engine bay is also a big no no. Well and then there is heat. This engine does not like heat. A good ( and I mean very good) cooling system is important as well. The head gaskets on these engines do not take overheating so it's best to never even get close to overheating. So in racing/track conditions, it is important to make sure the cooling is perfect. I ran the LT1 engine in my Golf for the first two years and had more trouble than it was worth. But all that is My experience and doesn't mean you will have those issues. So DO IT.... :).
If I lived closer…
Be my car builder for racing? Will crew for race? Yeah buddy!
eww.. Like the Volvo a lot more :)
But the V8 rumble! Yeah, you know I love The Flyin' Moose 740, thanks
I was on track in a Camaro ZL1 today for the first time - talk about the v8 (supercharged) rumble! (as well as a new GR Corolla and Supra) Still, Love the Volvo. I'd love to run against your Volvo in Lemons with My LS400 one of these days :)@@randypobstofficial
DON'T PAINT IT!!!
It’s not very nice to tell people what to do.
@filsmth2@@dustysteele5408 Oh, it's all in good fun. Bring on the ideas and opinions, I love it.
It IS pretty darned perfect LeMons patina ain't it?
@@randypobstofficial it looks cool, but it’s your vehicle.
Of course, you're going to electrify it. Right?
Yes! It will have ignition and spark plugs. That's electric.
Randy: Just PM'd via Instagram, we'd love to help collaborate on this project!
Ooooooh, coooool. Are you a body shop I hope? Haha. No wait, the patina. Need a clutch. Need fresh limited slip. Can't wait to check. Thanks dsmraver!
@@randypobstofficialWe're mainly mechanical and tuning (we have an AWD linked Dyno in house), but we have some great painters up here in the Motor City area, and Alex used to paint show cars so he knows who to call!
