    forgot to mention that the spacers with the included lugs will still have the oem lugs sticking out a few mm. Need to make sure your wheels have 'pockets' so that those lugs won't hit the wheel when mounting.

    The spacer you showed first usually comes with extended lug studs, I find them the savest to use but the most time consuming to install.

    Hubcentric spacers with longer factory studs, steel braided lines and, quick bleeders, racing grade high temp brake fluid, drilled or slotted rottprs but not both. Paint ur calipers.

  • @skatepark02
    @skatepark02 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    My issue with the straight edge technique is that you measure from the tyre to the outside edge of the fender. Doing this doesn’t account for the lip size inside the arch. I’m surprised you didn’t mention arch rolling.

    U can also get longer factory studs, from other aplications to save wieght.

    The load from a wheel is transferred to the axle/hub through the friction of the clamped joint, not through the wheel stud. A wheel stud can only bend if the lug nuts are not properly torqued, in which case the wheel is about to fall off, anyway.
    The Physics of Keeping the Wheels On
    As long as the wheel, hub, and spacer are stiff enough to prevent flexing and loss of clamp force, the cause of most wheel stud failures is under tightened lug nuts (not enough clamping force) or over tightened lug nuts (the stud has been stretched past it's elastic limit, so the clamping force goes away). Therefore, properly installed wheel spacers are perfectly safe.

    Thank you for sharing. I am planning to place similar wheel adapter on my 2018 Ford Fusion SE. I have viewed several videos that say that it is bad for your wheel studs to stick out from the wheel spacer, because it keeps the wheel from sitting flat on the wheel spacer. I also viewed videos that show the wheel being installed with the original stud sticking out of the hole of the wheel adapter. How are they able to do that and keep the wheel flat against the wheel adapter?

    The front tyre gap on my e60 is 15mm and the rear wheel gap to fender is 20mm. The rears are further in. What spacers would be best 5mm front and 15or 20mm rear? I want the rears to have more poke. I want the rears to stick out staggered compared to the fronts. Do I leave the 15mm gap at front and go for 15 or 20mm just on the rears? Let me know which ones you would go for to give it the desired look. I am on the original 17’s but lowered 30mm only. Please let me know

    Hi guys @ FI, I have a Dodge Challenger, and I am looking for wheel spacers, I cannot decide between 1.5" and 2", Ideally I would want 1.75" but I cannot find any that are hubcentric, do you have any ideas? Would the 2" add more stress to wheel bearings and ball joints?

    • @Goaty-nb3wg
      @Goaty-nb3wg 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The 2inch will definitely add more stress the the components on your car, if you plan on replacing those too then 2 inches would be fine. Its probably a better idea to go 1.5 inches or smaller to avoid any real problems.However i know that some challengers are built really well and its hard to damage suspension parts on them

    • @il2rock
      @il2rock 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Make sure you have enough clearance on your new wheels without spacers. If you have new springs then your original wheels most likely will already have enough clearance. If you got new springs and rims, install the springs first and let it settle for few days (driving at least 1000miles will definitely ensure they are settled) before putting new rims on and then measure and add the spacers. The rear on my coupe was lowered on coilovers to my desired fitment initially but after a couple weeks it was noticeably higher

      all tapered lug wheels are lugcentric, not hub centric....the built in hubcentricity, or added hubcentric ring is merely for accuracy and convenience(which IS useful) of mounting the wheel, helping you put it on the lugs in a closer ballpark, so you don't mash the wheel on all cock-eyed and cross threaded........how say you, lololololol
      ........if you lose the hubcentric rings, it doesn't matter, as long as u properly luged down the wheel uniformly on the hub surface, lugs provide the correct concentricity for the rotating assembly. whhhhhhha whaah whaa whaaaat!
