- With almost 20 years experience using and selling wheel spacers we let you in on the biggest problems we find that can make them dangerous and unsafe and what to do to avoid making the same mistakes yourself. Take a look at the first video in our wheel spacers series as we delve into and review the different types of spacers, best way to install them and what type to buy so that you get the results you're looking for. Whether slip on, bolt on or hubcentric find the information you're looking for here.
Been running Digicam wide spacers for the last ten years on my 350z. No problems at all, but I would recommend bolt spacers.
This is definitely a video to be shared. Lots of forums with guys on the fence about spacers and others fear-mongering due to lack of knowledge. In the few I've checked out on this subject, not one member against installation ever cited incorrect torque settings as a possible cause of failure. Very informative...
Thank you!
look ima be honest. spacers are not really my thing but this video has me interested
one of the best vids about spacers i have seen. great information
Thank you. Glad you found it useful
Great video! I fitted Eibach wheel spacers to my mk7 ST fiesta, lost the sharpness and turn in speed, took them off as I felt I lost the cars dynamic if you know what I mean 😏
I just put spacer's on my Mustang Gt and it's only been a few days.. The car feels more cat like.. But I have a feeling the driver side front spacer is torqued a little more than it calls for.. I am going to pull the wheel off this week and re do it... The fronts were a little more difficult to do because they spin around on you.. I put a pry bar in-between lug bolts n I used an impact along with a torque wrench.. They called for 150 foot pounds and I may have been over by 5 foot pounds, IDK I am going to take it out for a little ride today.. I already took her out on a long 1 hour ride on back roads that are bumpy and you have to make turns and also a lot of stop and go. Then I took her out on highway to check for any NVH, and everything felt smooth took the car up to 70 n 80 for a minute and so far so good.. I hated the way the stock wheels looked sunk in like that!!! th-cam.com/video/7Z9uTgZeKwU/w-d-xo.html
PSA - Wheel spacers are not an excuse. Steer your mustang away from crowds
I got hubcentric spacers on the hub side only, the side that goes to the rim is actually lugcentric, because the rims i have use the same bolt patern, but have a slightly smaller hub, so they don't fit without the spacers.
Just got a cnc machine and wanted to make my own spacers so I’m watching videos on here. Was wondering why your accent sounded familiar. Shout out to my 🇧🇧 family💪🏽
I just bought these 25mm spacers for my e90 bmw and I got this clicking noise when moving at all is it because my lug screw is to long
Excellent delivery! I’ve been contemplating purchasing spacers for my 2019 Accord 2.0.
What size would you recommend to show a good stand out from stock but will avoid the most complications?
NICE video!! Now at the end of the video around 08:25 you say you will do a video on hub centric lips is this video come out soon? I like you your content, cheers!
Thanks for your comment. Hope to have it completed soon.
Great video, Extremely informative as usual. DRIVE SAFE!!!
hey, where's the rest of the series? this is actually helpful
Do they have any benefits at all for a road vehicle? Do they affect your insurance premiums? Can they invalidate your policy if you have a claim and haven't informed the Insurance company?
They are usually installed primarily for aesthetic reasons altho they do widen the track of the vehicle which can help performance and stability when cornering. I have never heard of them affecting your insurance premium but that is something that will probably depend on your specific premium so it would be best to check with your insurance company beforehand if you want to be safe.
Video was well done !!!
Great video... ok, does it differ being Anodized or raw non Anodized? Are anodized ones as strong as non anodized ones?
Anodizing can make aluminum slightly stronger but for structural parts like this the main thing is the material type. Anodizing is more often used as a surface protectant to help reduce corrosion or for changing the color
did you ever make the video about the hubcentric spacers? cannot see it in your archive
My spacer is hubcentric but wheel has bigger hub size I torqued with using lug centric lugs and star pattern should I be fine?
Once you torqued to spec correctly before dropping the vehicle on its own weight you should be fine.
🙌🏽🙌🏽.. nice info bro
but every time i change tires i have to tight it again on the right torque? or just the torque betwen the spacer and the car have to be right? sry if it wasnt cleary but i think is undertandable
Nice as usual. Very informative.
i have a set of 2017 18" silverado wheels and tires that are in great shape.. i want to put them on a 2019 silverado, but they slightly rub the caliper.. could i use a 1/4" spacer to get the clearence, and safely run these wheels, so i dont have to spend 1500 on tires, and have a set of wheels i dont need laying around?? thanks for any advice
You’ll be fine dude , I ran stacked 4 inch spacers
it's been a year, where's the follow up on hubcentric rings?
What is a good torque for spacers
the same as whatever your car is torqued to for its factory spec
Is the hubcentric video out?
Ty
Thank you for the info
I Always use H&R spacers….needed a set for my Brabus alloys….ET45 😂 way to close to suspension parts
Is “Anodized surface, 6061-T6 Aluminum Billet, 10.9 grade lug nuts” safe? The lugs? 15mm
That's a fairly common industry standard grade aluminum nut. It is safe if used properly, in other words once it is torqued correctly. Stay away from unregulated air tools that can create over 300 ft lb. Normally you want under 100 ft lb for wheel lug nuts to torque correctly. Best practice is to recheck and retorque after 50-100 miles.
Im going to install 2" spacer on my camaro 2013 car, because I want it to look cool. Good or bad idea?
GREAT VIDEO! Go BORA OFF-ROAD spacers if you want a lifetime warranty!!!!
Are the slip ons known to make the tire shake / vibrate? how likely is that to happen?
Some of the slip ons that have large slots as holes to accommodate an extra wide range of patterns are known to have that issue since they are not evenly balanced and are very hard to get to remain centered on the hub when bolting them up. They also tend to be cast aluminum as opposed to CNC Billet and have less material on them making them more prone to cracking and failure.

Thank you for your reply, yes, I confirmed that, I had to remove the precisely because of that. Thank you.
What will happen if you use locktite?
Normally each brand of loctite type threadlockers will have a reduction percentage value for the torque settings based on the type you are using so you would need to reduce torque setting by that amount as essentially when wet it acts like a lubricant. On average reduction values are around 20%
Do I need an alignment after putting 2 inch spacers
No, all spacers do is offset the wheel. In terms for suspension geometry, it has no effect on caster, camber, or toe. A point I don’t hear too often as it may be case-by-case with each make or model, more offset tends to make the wheel feel more heavy
Thank you 😊
Do u have to have disk breaks to install spacers. My car has drums in the back
Thanks for your question. No normally it shouldn’t make any difference if you have drum or disc brakes.
Soo i have a 1999 tahoe 4x4 but want too get spacers but with longer suds what would you recommend (oem studs are short but also want my truck wheels to stick out )
Get hub-centric spacers, I’m running 2” spacers on my 99 Escalade. I wouldn’t run anything that isn’t hub-centric.
@DMoney505 I have an 04 tahoe and I run the stock wheels with 265/70/r16 tires will I have rub issues if I get the 2" spacers
Excellent
So dont use locktite?
It is not necessary to use loctite but would add an extra layer of protection. Having said that, only use it if you adjust your torque specifications to compensate for the variation that a lubricant or thread locker creates. The manufacturer of the brand you use will normally indicate what percentage of adjustment is necessary.
@Redline's Garage I did 100 pounds of torque but didn't add Locktite just wanted that peace of mind is all I installed 1.25 spidertrax on my 2018 4runner
@@chrisrye8409 you should be fine but always a good idea to recheck torque specs after 100 miles or so if possible.
This guy is guyanese or from Barbados
Barbados!!!!!!!!!!!!!
only use spacers to keep your oem offset limits

"cun" what?
2:56 🤭🤭🤭
You may need longer nots hahah
Oh no! I’m one of the idiots that thought anti seize on lug nuts was a good idea.
