Just looked it up... WTF, it's 449km?! It takes 2 hours and 40 minutes to reach via bullet train.
It seems like they must have attacked Makima and confirmed the kills way ahead of when everyone else gets attacked in Gunfire, for her to have the time to arrive in Kyoto, organise the prisoners, reserve the temple and have it all set up in time to start her long-distance terror spree. So Makima was considered such a threat that these gun people, without even knowing she could pulp them at that distance, were too afraid to kick off from 2 hours away without being sure she was dead too.
That's some real fear right there.

Also, asking a question like that shows his intelligence, and if anything such a question shows that he doesn't know enough to be killed. He is clearly operating on gut feelings, as he is judging her reaction to his comments the whole conversation.
Makima is a member of a public agency, and she even uses that script against him to dodge his question. A question, mind you, she would have just lied about like she did about being shot if he has asked it previously
In short, no Makima would not kill him because she operates within a system - a system she just gained more control over. She hits him with the "you don't matter anymore" and walks away.

Wow this channel is the only one who mentioned that the ghost devil loyal to her contract and you're right. It's crazy the ghost devil fulfill her contract not just to over all she's got but also fulfill Himeno's wishes to save Aki out from danger, even some manga reader didn't recognize it and thinking it was just Himeno's last move but not from ghost devil self act.
Yeah I haven’t even read the Manga and when people were saying it was Himenos last move to pull Dennis cord just didn’t sound right. It made more sense that Himeno is just gone and that the Ghost devil either fulfilled Himenos wish or read how bad the situation was and decided to pull Dennis cord. Either way I agree with it being the ghost devil.
I always got the impression that Himeno and the ghost devil were on pretty good terms. At least enough to hold up its end of the bargain and respect Himeno's wishes. When reading the manga, I did think it was Himeno controlling the ghost hand directly, but I think the timings are a little bit more vague and arbitrary when reading the manga. In the anime adaptation they made it a lot more definitive that himeno has fully disappeared by this point.

6:05 Remember that contracts are very powerful. Himeno's contract with the ghost Devil was for the Ghost Devil to give it all it's got in exchange for Himeno's entirety. Basically, the ghost devil still has a lot of it's hands left (and a head) even after the attack from the Snake Devil. The Ghost Devil basically used all it's got to revive Denji with a hand.
Arai did block the bullet on purpose tho

Kobeni really showed how she fought here. Speed + very sharp knife meant that she could do a lot of damage in this situation. She freaked out against Eternity because she was simply not able to fight it; first was the psychological stress, then she had to face a big blob of flesh that was the Devil, and that was not something she could fight against - Himeno tried with Ghost and failed, what was a knife gonna do? Survival instincts said that the only way out was by killing Denji.
Speaking of, hilarious how she used him as a shield here lol. It also wasn't quite clear here, but she ran out of bullets - at least, that was the case in the manga. I think I saw someone somewhere saying that if you looked closely, you could tell that Kobeni's gun was out of ammo by the end in the anime too.
I don't get why she was so inept when she was trying to kill Denji then.

Makima reminds me of Edwin from attack on Titan how she isn't afraid to sacrifice people for knowledge or power. She even admitted to enjoying her night out with her subordinates. Listening to these reactors I'm starting to wonder if she went out with them was because she knew what was coming?

Makima just menacingly standing there on the train is one of my favorite moments from the entire show so far

Kobeni seems to be the type of person that does their job when they can but when they run out of options they panic and freak out.
Against the Eternity Devil, there wasn't anything she could do since its weakness wasn't even reachable. Only Denji had the guts and abilities to go in and fight for 3 days to force the Eternity Devil to beg for death. Anyone else would've been shredded to bits since they couldn't regenerate. And since Kobeni didn't know about Chainsaw Man until the reveal, she came to the conclusion that sacrificing Denji was the best option due to having no other options.
Against Katana Man and Snake, not only were they both human looking and exhausted but she also had motivation from seeing Arai sacrifice himself to protect her. This was enough for her to go after them and even severely injure Katana Man. Granted she probably didn't know that Katana Man was technically immortal just like Denji, but that doesn't take away from the fact that they were killable unlike the Eternity Devil situation. Of course, after the two ran away, Kobeni was left with nothing to keep her mind busy and thus started freaking out again as she processed what had happened.
Makima was clearly lying when she said she wasn't shot she even cleaned the blood on her face to not make tendo and kurose think that she got shot from head why did she lie if u ask? Will see in the future

They said previously that Arai is competent but not all that skilled where Kobeni is timid but highly skilled.

Himeno said in one of the past episodes that Kobeni is an excellent devil hunter but she lacks courage.
Himeno said that Kobeni has the moves, but she's too reserved or scared or whatever. Speaking of Himeno, I think that she's just straight dead. She gave her body to the ghost devil. There's only one thing devil's want with human bodies, and that's for food. That's why some devils team up with humans. Not only to ensure their own safety from them, but also to have a free food source. And in return, they give devil hunters some of their power.

Wasn't "Katana Man" a fan nickname? He's called "Samurai Sword" in a recap page in the manga IIRC and the Japanese subs (I checked)

It was most likely pointed out already, but Himeno said a few episodes back that Kobeni was more skilled than she let on.... she was just held back by her timid nature. But regardless, she was still ill-suited to take out the Eternity Devil, so her behavior at the hotel is still understandable enough, I think.
And on a related note... RIP, Arai. Your noble sacrifice will not be forgotten. 😢
The reason Tendo and Kurose have the same scar because they probably both took the same contract with the specific devil they contracted for.
Yeah, a lot of the public safety devil hunters have that scar, must be another common hunting contract devil with decent relations towards humans.

To be fair to Kobeni, her skills that she clearly has would've still been useless against the Eternity Devil, who quite literally only was beat because it decided to let them kill him. If I had to make a guess with Kobeni, it's like Himeno said when she mentioned her, she has the moves, but not the mental fortitude, or something like that.
makima lied on the train that she hadn't been shot because she needs to keep the cover, it would be very weird and suspicious for a normal human to get away unscathed from a shot to the head and another to the chest.
They all have that scar because the creator saw Iruka in Naruto and said "Yes, this is it" 😂

The thing about the finger nails vs other contracts is that it may be strong but you have a limited amount of use before having to grow back your nails.

I just want to say something, Sawatari reviving Katana Man isn’t some special power she has. Devils are basically immortal, if you feed them blood they come back from any wound: that’s what happened to Denji. She just fed him some of her blood so he could get back up.
I wasn’t sure if Arai took the bullet on purpose or not either but while watching this video so realize he makes an angry expression and kinda looks back before immediately diving infront of Kobeni. Also if you didn’t Kobeni ran out of shot before killing Akane. You can see the slide of the gun racked back which means no ammo on most semi auto pistols. Otherwise I think she would have smoked them.
I think the main reason Makima wasn't able to use her power on Katana Man or Akane was because she didn't know their true names. Even Fujimoto doesn't know Katana Man's real name, simply referring to him as "Samurai Sword" in the character guide and character vote page. He's quite the interesting mystery of a character.

If you have you know she keeps them alive because she needs them in the future. She uses Akane's dead body for the antimortem devil contract with the snake devil. She also uses Katanaman as one of her henchmen in her fight against Pochita. She was creating a army of hybrids during the entire show. She let's them go for those reasons only.

Kobeni is always terrified even when being a badass it’s just who she is. In the hotel she couldn’t have used any of her skills because the Eternity Devil couldn’t be killed without choosing to die. She probably would’ve gotten killed if she tried and knew it.
Recall back to when they were in the hotel. Aki asked Himeno about the new rookies. Himeno said that the guy was weak but motivated and the girl, Kobeni, was strong, but was mentally weak.
I was thinking maybe she didn't kill the last two because her power requires a more powerful sacrifice to "spontaneously explode " someone with devil powers.

I don’t think the snake girl revived Katana Man, if he’s like Denji, I think Aki’s curse sword didn’t work just because he can’t die the same way Denji can’t really die.
Makima lied to avoid further questions and explanations. The problem with Kobeni is her nature, she is a hard introvert/shy/timid person, doesn't matter how strong she is she will always doubt of everything even herself.

My theory is Gun devil have beef with Pochita, when Denji found him, Pochita had like bullet wounds 🤔, other theory, is Makima is planning all this thing, a mean how she knows the names of the minions, and how many they are 🤔, other is Kobeni, she might have a special contract to, a mean how strong she was, she picked Denji like nothing while the man couldn’t drag him by himself 🤔.

Awesome stuff! Yeah it can be easily overlooked but Himeno said Kobeni “has the moves but she’s timid” so an extreme case of never judge a book by its cover but also you’re still not wrong because the cover is still valid lol. And this episode finally reveals the terror that is Makima (she just said it wasn’t her blood btw not body so no body swapping lol) and while this series is action heavy, it’s horror through and through with its devil designs, atmosphere, setting, and intrigue. I love seeing people experience it and in a very pristine format!
