They guy on the lath: Considering the very old crude lath he was working with I am amazed he was able to complete the job when one considers the steel cylinder he was machining was bent like a banana. It was also one of those rare occasions this man kept his work area clean and free from debris.
As an American I am ashamed to watch these MASTER builders. OSHA guy would be having a stroke at this modern yard. I have been in large scale construction for over 40 years. I can just see that. These guys probably make like Forman gets 10 per hr. Laborors get like 3 per hour. In America that would be times 4 or 5 times as much. Modern engineers say it wou😢take 10,000 workers 150 years to build the one pyramid . They need to watch this and think about that. The human spirit is what makes us great. The Arab people have been doing this stuff for like 10,000 years. Makes me proud to be a human. Nothing but RESPECT for these MEN. Getting it done, in the end that is what matters..
The monstrous steel beam (the first video) - the tiny overlaps on those joins terrify me. The plates should overlap half the length, to spread the load. They have created several failure points. It isn't much more work to make it right. just more planning. Then add in the complete lack of weld prep, to ensure deep penetration - dirty steel, paint, no edge chamfering.
Let me guess, that is not paper or garbage. Cigarette buts, litter, metal scraps. All over that clean shop floor. Where everyone wears safety sandals, and are taught to safety blink, for eye protection. What a great work environment.

Hi these poor workers are very capable of anything but they need a better environment to work they welding at times leaves a lot to be questionable but the hand burners give them credit where credits due they are needing a few old furnace blocks and dogs afew dozen steel wedges and decent or at least basic safety gear and more they are defenatly not boilmakers i am retired shipyard Clydeside plater i have seen boilermaker's work they are in a class of there own regards from Scotland ⚒️⚙️🏴🇬🇧
Structurally, it is a disaster. First they should be using ¼ inch rod making multiple passes, minimum of 4. Secondly, the gussets are not enough to strengthen the boom. This is a disaster waiting to happen. How do I know, I have an engineering degree with 60 years background in my own welding and fabrication shop. The men aren't lazy, they lack the knowledge and the tools. That's the saddest part.
these guys do some tight work. wow, remarkable ..and with hand tools... not a single CNC anything. they do amazing work, but those places seem to have a lot of pollution, though. those giant kilns and smelting furnaces run on crude oil and that can't be good for anything. but even so, these guys make it happen, and almost zero safety gear... and sadly almost no pay.

I wouldn't trust any of those welds no joint prep welding with eyes closed hit and miss welding thay are clever and can lay down a good weld beads but that doesn't mean thay have good penatration😮😮😮
This one makes sense. I wouldn’t trust that rod of steel to stay centered on that pin mt either. Especially after seeing how easily it was upset when they moved it. Cutting a concentric on a lathe isn’t hard, once you get both sides established. Getting it right is math. I’ll say this this is THE ONLY machining channel I’ve seen where the shavings were swept up and saved! Scrap steel is expensive. But check out that machined OD surface on those lock nuts! And nothing but the highest quality bearings rolled in the dirt for this garbage crusher.
