You are right. They are doing the best they can with what they have. Also the owner may not have wanted to pay for a new spring and TOLD them to just weld it. They are the mechanics doing what the owner wanted.
They are all workers, and they fix things because they have to, things wed throw away they'd fix. It's all in how much ones time is worth in any particular region, they can't afford to buy another, we couldn't afford to repair those same things because of the time.
I really sat up in my chair when the big roller got worked on Boy! I would love to be there. What smart men to work on this big rigs... love it is video. Granny USA
Proper attire, work boots, power tools, and all the things you guys mention costs money! These people work for peanuts, and charge peanuts ( compared to the US)! Pakistan is a poor country and If you look back to films of workers in this country 100 years ago or so, you'll notice they lacked some of the protective gear . Bottom line, It's money, and regulations ! Another factor is the heat! Try working in protective gear in over 100 degree humid weather. No AC or fans! You'll boil alive like a lobster!!
Watching this, is like a country following in the footsteps of the United States , but they have the luxury of the fact that the equipment is already designed, tools to work on equipment are readily available, spare parts are readily available, and 60 plus years of America and other countries running this heavy equipment, and developing tricks, and techniques to repair this equipment, and even updated parts that avoid common failures, I’d like to see this country, learn, and begin to build their own equipment, and take over that area of the world, and never make the mistake of relying upon other nations to keep them moving..

@@gilrimmer2368 It is absolutely common knowledge that this is not to be done. That spring is no longer capable of performing the job it was designed to perform. Once welded the way they have welded it the moment it takes any weight it will immediately compress and be unable to return to form. It is now worthless. This is not a secret nor is it the type of information that people have to go looking for in industry. Any professional welder would be aware of this. All they did was return this spring back to its original size and shape, not its original function.

Wonder if anybody ever thought about washing the dirt out of the adjusting track to make getting the rollers off easier!!! Looks like they think getting a bigger hammer and longer pry bar is the way never mind all the dirt and rocks in the groove !!!!!
The nut on top of the track tension spring, had a set screw (grub screw) that they seemed to ignore., not to mention the welded spring, I would think that the heat they put into it, would change the properties of the spring, and it will no longer be a useful area of “spring” there will no longer be that memory…
Again, inferior quality on the “made in China” roller hub, it looks to be a knock of of a CAT planetary gear reduction, but their steel is either of low carbon steel, or it was not PROPERLY heat treated, hardened..
And where are you going to buy Loctite in Pakistan? With that country being so incredibly poor. Which is why they have to fix this shit in the first place.
