No joke, "House" is the first scary movie I ever saw. I was 8 or 9 and I was sleeping over at my best friend, Robert's house. We watched it with his older brother and I to this day remember saying, "I feel so nervous." And his older brother responding, "Yeah, I am really clenching my butt over here." It was the funniest thing I heard in my life.
According to the creators his old friend wasn't haunting the place, rather the house feeds on the fears of its victim and uses them to drive the person to suicide. It seems when he was a child he just lacked a traumatic enough experience to awaken the spirit of the house.
It’s pretty realistic to haunted houses cus they’re not haunted for any person that’ll inhabit it. They have to be a specific kind of people to be made the target of disturbing to harmful supernatural stuff. It also sounds like amityville
Why doesn't Night Court get any respect???? It was on the air for nine seasons and it won a couple of awards. Why doesn't it get any respect?????? Beacuse it was on the same night as Cosby, Different World, and Cheers???? It's like comparing Flacco to Brady, Both Manning bros, Elway, and the Pitts - Burger. He's a great QB, but he's constantly not the best. Night Court was just constantly seen as not the best.
I've always really liked House. My cousin and I would watch it almost every time we visited each other. I feel like it was under appreciated for the most part.
I used to watch this and House II a lot when I was younger. The music in this scared the hell out of me, and the second is just balls to the wall crazy but sweet and fun at the same time.
"We stop to watch all 9 seasons of Night Court" LOL! Yes! I love that show. Richard Moll was great in Night Court. And, of course, it also had absolutely hilarious work by John Larroquette.
The movie implies that she was being actively haunted and tortured, that's why she killed herself. There was nothing in the film that implies that his old army buddy was actually the one haunting the place. And why would he haunt that place for years instead of just going to the main character right away? I honestly felt like it was the house itself. I mean it's in the title.
I appreciate you actually looking something up rather than a gloss over. Night Court was great, you should go watch it, sort of half sentimental and half sitcom. I'm actually surprised how long it's taken for you to run into Richard Moll, he's in a lot of the type of films you and your buddies review. :)
One of my favorite late night monster movies from when I was a kid. I remember being initially disappointed House II was completely unrelated storywise, but it turned out to be a solid horror fantasy on it's own.
A lot of people don't understand the truth about the house in the movie, it's not in Roger's head and it's not Ben haunting him. It's simply the house, the house is haunted by demons which use your fears and memories against you. The aunt actually tells Roger this when he sees her ghost "this house knows everything about you. Leave while you can."
I was in the Navy when this came out, saw it in San Diego and when we went on our WestPac tour it was one of the films they showed during our 6 month long cruise. Love this film
I was just barely getting around to watching stranger things season 3 when I happened to notice Alison and Phelous did reviews for the "House" series (80's horror comedy films, not the hospital tv series)! I guess Eleven and the gang are just going to have to wait...😅💙
First of all, it's not said enough, but Night Court was GREAT. Also, Richard Moll was Two-Face on Batman The Animated Series. I'm shocked Phelous didn't know that. For shame!!!
So this film has The Greatest American Hero, Norm, Mr. X & the voice of Harvey Dent/Two-Face in Batman: The Animated Series. That's a pretty kick-ass cast.
I love House. As a kid I didn't remember liking it, but when I came back to it as an adult, I loved it. They kind of lost me a bit with the whole mirror PTSD thing, but that part with the monster in the closet had me cracking up. I also really like the second one. I forget which one it is, where the Dad possesses a pizza and the Mom freaks out and throws him in the garbage disposal. That got a good laugh out of me.
This movie scared the shit out of me when I was little. I had only seen bits and pieces but man I remember just seeing the VHS tape box cover would freak me out.
I remember watching this film for the first time about 20 years ago. I really liked it but I also couldn't believe how many WTF moments it had. It really is an underrated gem.
"You already did that in life, why don't you try something else?!" I remember seeing this on the Sci-Fi Channel when I was like, 8, and it scared the shit out of me, but it was also one of the first times where I vividly remember laughing at something scary as well. It's a great little flick.
I think "House" is what Edgar Allen Poe would've come up with if he was a hack Hollywood writer. And there should've been a scene where Geroge Wendt was eating beans.
this still has probably the scariest sfcene in any movie when he drops the shotgun shell and it rolls under the table, I still jump at the jump scare :>
I watched this at a friend's house when I was in elementary school. Since we were only seven at the time, we were hiding under blankets when his mom came in the room with snacks
MwieZorro The whole movie is. It's a, pardon my language, mind fuck. I'd recommend it if you can find/afford it: the thing's hard to get, and there's no English dub.
Totally love this movie haven't watched the sequels, but I got a kick out of it when Netflix suggested it to me afyer watching the Reanimator. I love when horror had a sense of humor, especially when it doesn't come at the expense of genuine scares. Our natural responses to things we don't understand are fear and laughter, so the two can fit together very effectively.
This was the first horror movie I walked in on my mom and her friends watching when I was like 5 and it was at the part with the "X Wife" Beast Lady and it scared the shit out of me. Had to face me fears later in life and now I love this movie. Also, I loved Night Court back then too.
Like the new opening (love the old one too). I wanted to suggest at one point that you should maybe update your opening once a year to keep it fresh but I didn't want to offend. It keeps it looking up to date (or up to date within a year anyway) with whatever you may have changed with a hair style or something. :)
Thanks for reminding of old movie i used to watch as a kid. Great horror movie up there with Creepshow and Re-animator 1,2 Could it be a metaphor for him beating his demons(PTSD from Vietnam) and getting his family back? Had a look at your channel after binge watching Good bad flicks and heard you doing a few duel reviews
the house is haunted(again too late) not him. it was also after his aunt, and killed her. She claimed the house was haunted and roger may even say that she said that when he was a kid before nam.. its been a while, either way i always read it that the house was haunted, preyed on the fears of each person and wanted them to kill themselves. (like the aunt) it would be different for each person living there. The house also seems to play a long game so taking the boy a year ahead to harm both the aunt and roger is in keeping
I'm almost ashamed to admit it, but I found this movie really scary when I was little. I'll have to watch it again. BTW, Night Court was fucking hilarious, or at least it used to seem that way at 11pm when it aired where I lived. I may have just been tired, though.
I LOVE that movie. Yes... it's cheesy as hell, but it's also quite funny. It's also scary (well if you watch it as a kid) and definitively it has its tense moments, though. I re-watched it quite recently and it still held up for me. Not a perfect movie, but a decent flick to check out!
+David Lev Its Funny how both movies are called house and are both horror and comedy, almost like they could've done parallel versions of each other but obviously they didn't.
+MidAtlanticGal I always figured the cost for royalties to the artists were probably cheaper than most popular music and Motown hits are well-known across a ton of different demographics.
I enjoyed this review, but I think you need to work on fixing the acoustics in the space you're recording in. I'm not sure if it's the microphone or your voices reflecting off the walls.
The dark humor is off the chart in this review. I hope Phelous was tired or something, because everything seemed just a little too funny to him, like OLD LADY SUICIDE!
Every internet reviewer should strive to have a fashion sense as on point as Allison.
August West I'm sensing some very deep aggressive feelings here. Are you okay? Do you need to talk about it? I'm here for you bro. :)
joiles01 Hey, it's okay to be jealous, buddy. :) Just believe in yourself and be nice to people and maybe someday you'll find your true love. ^_^
No joke, "House" is the first scary movie I ever saw. I was 8 or 9 and I was sleeping over at my best friend, Robert's house. It was the funniest thing I heard in my life.
Joshua Pelfrey. It was the first horror movie I ever saw too, still love it.
I love how Cliff is in one and Norm is in another.
Omg that's the guy from The Greatest American Hero, I loved that show as a kid.
+Shane Le Plastrier I liked that show too; believe it or not...
According to the creators his old friend wasn't haunting the place, rather the house feeds on the fears of its victim and uses them to drive the person to suicide. It seems when he was a child he just lacked a traumatic enough experience to awaken the spirit of the house.
+Andy Semple So, it is Silent Hill?
Joshua Pelfrey More or less. :p
yeah alot of people miss that point of the movie. Thats why the movie is called House.
It’s pretty realistic to haunted houses cus they’re not haunted for any person that’ll inhabit it. They have to be a specific kind of people to be made the target of disturbing to harmful supernatural stuff. It also sounds like amityville
@@Rocketboy1313 more like Freddy’s dream home
Richard Moll is a really great actor. He's not in a lot of things and it's always a treat to see him in something.
+Moonbeam Yes, quite so. Flutters.
Why doesn't Night Court get any respect???? It was on the air for nine seasons and it won a couple of awards. Why doesn't it get any respect??????

I must have rented House like 50 times when I was a kid.
Would have been cheaper to buy it
I appreciate you actually looking something up rather than a gloss over. Night Court was great, you should go watch it, sort of half sentimental and half sitcom. One of my favorite late night monster movies from when I was a kid. I remember being initially disappointed House II was completely unrelated storywise, but it turned out to be a solid horror fantasy on it's own.
House 2 was probably one of my favorite movies, I loved that caterpillar dog.
My favorite part of the movie was when House annoyed Cuddy and then stole Wilson's lunch.
A lot of people don't understand the truth about the house in the movie, it's not in Roger's head and it's not Ben haunting him. It's simply the house, the house is haunted by demons which use your fears and memories against you. The aunt actually tells Roger this when he sees her ghost "this house knows everything about you. Big Black Guy Reviews imagine them dealing with this stuff lol
First of all, it's not said enough, but Night Court was GREAT. Also, Richard Moll was Two-Face on Batman The Animated Series. I'm shocked Phelous didn't know that. For shame!!!

Look at Phelous's expression.
Loved this movie as a kid. Still holds up when I'm baked.
I love House. As a kid I didn't remember liking it, but when I came back to it as an adult, I loved it. They kind of lost me a bit with the whole mirror PTSD thing, but that part with the monster in the closet had me cracking up. I also really like the second one.

great film! I originally saw this maybe a bit too young and it freaked the hell out of me. especially the creepy wife monster scene.
This movie scared the shit out of me when I was little. I had only seen bits and pieces but man I remember just seeing the VHS tape box cover would freak me out.
I remember watching this film for the first time about 20 years ago. I really liked it but I also couldn't believe how many WTF moments it had. It really is an underrated gem.
he was the bailiff from night court.
Isn't that the greatest American hero
This is one of the few horror movies I actually like, and I like it a lot.
"You already did that in life, why don't you try something else?!"
I remember seeing this on the Sci-Fi Channel when I was like, 8, and it scared the shit out of me, but it was also one of the first times where I vividly remember laughing at something scary as well. It's a great little flick.
I saw this movie as a kid too many times. I always loved it though. Good old Richard Moll. Voice of Two Face on Batman the animated series.
+Mario Wendorf There were a few summers where it seemed like this movie was on basic cable pretty much every day.
The gym teacher in Sidekicks. 🤨
I love "House" I also love ""Night Court".
Richard Moll is awesome. He's the bad guy in The Dungeon Master!
+Lotus Prince I reject your reality and substitute my own.
+Jason R Damn right! Everyone attributes that quote to Mythbusters, but everybody's WRONG.
+Lotus Prince :'( I miss the Mythbusters already!
I love the first House . It's a unique gem.
HOLY CRAP George Wendt IS IN THIS!!!
I always thought the grey t-shirt was underwhelming for such a great intro.
Whoa you changed the opening shadow dance/opening titles, I like it!
Night Court was a great show! Fun Fact: Bull was really a genius with an IQ of 225. He could also "talk" to Buffalos.
is this main guy tommy from the 1970s carrie movie? he looks really familiar.
+Taylor Manes He is!
omg i knew i knew him from somewhere!
He was also the Greatest American Hero. William Katt.
I think the house was not haunted. The guy was haunting himself because he had remorses, regrets and feelings of guilt.
I watched this at a friend's house when I was in elementary school. Since we were only seven at the time, we were hiding under blankets when his mom came in the room with snacks
Ah yes the new intro
awesome. one of favorite movies ever! you guys are the best.
You are looking gorgeous on the new title as well Allison!
This intro music is awesome! I have it in my head at least once a day, and everyday
That “You’re no good” song is going to be stuck in my head now.
saw this movie as a kid when it would air on paramount tv (before it became UPN) will never forget it...
WOW, it has been forever since I have seen this movie. Its so good to see you guys review and movies like this are just great fun.
House? Don't you mean HAAAAAUSUUUU according to the Japanese trailer? :P
+MwieZorro Wrong House.
Hausa is 1977, this one's 1986
***** I know, but they mention it.
MwieZorro Worth mentioning: Hausa is pretty damn good
***** Is it? Because the trailer is hilariously cheesy.
MwieZorro The whole movie is. It's a, pardon my language, mind fuck.
I'd recommend it if you can find/afford it: the thing's hard to get, and there's no English dub.
I love Night Court.

I remember watching the House movies as a kid, although I remember more stuff from the second movie than the first. Pug caterpillar!
I remember this film. It was hilarious and scary.
Hilscarious?
I remember seeing this during its theatrical release. It was a good, fun haunted house movie. Lots of imaginative stuff.
You are both treasures, thank you!
Come on...Night Court...you guys must be young...amazing 80's stuff. Check it out. You'll love it. Dan Fielding character made the show
I agree, it was a hoot! :-D I think Allison would probably get a kick out of "Night Court," too.
This was the first horror movie I walked in on my mom and her friends watching when I was like 5 and it was at the part with the "X Wife" Beast Lady and it scared the shit out of me. Had to face me fears later in life and now I love this movie. Also, I loved Night Court back then too.

if you think of it as a Jacob's Ladder type of story and not actual ghosts it's even creepier
I LOVE the new intro!!
Amazingly odd you guys never have seen Night court . (:
When I worked at Blockbuster I always you use to put this movie in the horror section.
I never knew it was a comedy. Guess I was wrong.
New intro aka THE BEST
Thanks for reminding of old movie i used to watch as a kid. Great horror movie up there with Creepshow and Re-animator 1,2
Could it be a metaphor for him beating his demons(PTSD from Vietnam) and getting his family back?
Had a look at your channel after binge watching Good bad flicks and heard you doing a few duel reviews
I remember seeing the box for this in a video store and thinking it had something to do with House MD.
Since Sweet Home was mentioned, I will HAPPILY send you my DVD copy of it if you two are willing to review it.
the house is haunted(again too late) not him. it was also after his aunt, and killed her. I do love how chill this show is 😊 (and of course crossover time😜)
Oh hey it’s that cool guy from Ally Mcbeal and ghostbusters 2!
Richard Moll was also the voice of two-face in Batman:TAS!
I love your new opening! 😄
I'm almost ashamed to admit it, but I found this movie really scary when I was little. I'll have to watch it again. BTW, Night Court was fucking hilarious, or at least it used to seem that way at 11pm when it aired where I lived. I may have just been tired, though.
Allison, can you make this a weekly series that airs every Friday night? Such a great way to end the week.
House is a classic!!!
Definetely gonna watch this. Thanks!
thanx for the wolfcop tip it was great
My mom MADE us watch this when we were little. i loved this movie and number 2!
Richard Moll was also great in The Dungeonmaster
I want to see Nightcourt, but there's these two hacks who haven't repaired my VCR yet.
Glenn Shadix! Now I can say I know TWO movies he's in!
would there be a house 2 version next video?¡
+SamuraiMotoko I hope so, I love that silly, silly movie. I suggested that to her years ago, so yay!
You should do the Japanese one too
+David Lev Its Funny how both movies are called house and are both horror and comedy, almost like they could've done parallel versions of each other but obviously they didn't.
Really digging the outfit of the new intro.
I find it odd you guys never mention William Katt's name?
Sheets the Beanie Baby has an Uboa face
This movie looks Awesome 💕
one of the first horror movies i remember watching as a kid. I must have been like 5. what was my dad thinking letting me watch this. stuff.
oh so we're talking about House with Hugh Laurie. That was a good show.
Hugh Laurie didn't appear ONCE in this movie 0/10!
-Nah I'm kidding. Great video!-
The first scene scared the hell out of me as a child. I would probably enjoy it now, but the old hanging lady... yikes
I think it’s time for a Halloween binge 😜
28.10.22
I remember seeing this in the theatre
The House movies are now on Blu Ray.
In the Lake of the Woods got weird when it was adapted to film
Man, what was up with 80's movies and Motown soundtracks?
+MidAtlanticGal I always figured the cost for royalties to the artists were probably cheaper than most popular music and Motown hits are well-known across a ton of different demographics.
Maaan those gremlin kids scared the shit out of me when I was a kid. Still kinda creep me out.
I think I saw this a long time ago, and was trying to remember for the longest time what it was called. D :
I enjoyed this review, but I think you need to work on fixing the acoustics in the space you're recording in. I'm not sure if it's the microphone or your voices reflecting off the walls.
The dark humor is off the chart in this review. I hope Phelous was tired or something, because everything seemed just a little too funny to him, like OLD LADY SUICIDE!
