- The Pack are a group of necromorphs who are fairly weak. Due to this weakness, they hunt down their prey utilizing their large numbers to overwhelm any surviving humans on Titan Station. In this updated episode I will discuss their lore and morphology as well as pinpoint where they seem to come from.

I always felt bad for the kids that got boddied by the necromorphs. this game really showed how horrific the universe can be. Nobody is safe from the effects of the marker.

The area with the school is what broke my heart, I have such a maternal instinct I would've been the lady who hugged the infant and exploded. but then they gang up on me and my sympathy disappears. Great video as always Roanoke!!
If I may tell a wee story.
This involves my older sister who has always had a strong maternal instinct, even being five years old. She was very motherly to all babies n kids.
Shes a natural with children and babies. And when I showed her dead space. Due to her asking me what new video game I was interested in.
I asked her thoughts of this scene and babies
She looked horrified beyond belief.
"I have watched horror movies and rolled my eyes ever since I was ten. But this is.. horrible."
And she went on saying how she would have done the exact same thing. She would call out softly to the baby.
She recently had her own child and she said she could not live without her son, she'd also would have tried to help any other baby/child she came across. Like the pack
Showed her that too. She again was horrified.

@@dan78789 I also played it at night, alone, lights off, wearing headphones. Jumped... a few times. I loved the first game! Oddly, 2 is my favorite, but barely. I didn't like that imposter "Nicole" in it. The original Nicole is *hot*. I also missed the MILF computer voice on the Ishimura, can't believe they changed it! D: Besides that, it was great.

@@dan78789 devs did their job. It's too bad that people are dumb and didn't like change, forcing the 3rd game to have low enough sales that they can't make the 4th and final chapter of the story.

What people didn't like was it switch to a more action oriented Dead Space, like it's so hard to believe that Isaac would go from nearly defenseless, to knowing what it took to kill a Necromorph, or that he wouldn't make use of the military hardware lying around. Of course he would get better at killing them. The story was great, people just didn't like it's departure from primarily horror, which in my opinion, it still had plenty of. Personally, I liked it quite a bit, but then again, I'm a girl who isn't afraid of change.

A biology lesson on the anatomy of undead monstrous children and a good theory and one that more than likely did occur. Lovely. Though I wonder if the Caretaker who became the Tripod was pregnant because of the baby limbs coming off of it's impaling tongue. Scary thought.

2:29 Holy crap through all my play through ofDS2 i never looked at that wall and noticed all the hand prints, damn that's actually pretty dark to think about how that went down especally knowing how brutal Necromorphs are and it could have easily been one slasher or even an Infector could overpower a child.

@@mouth7137 Well, yeah. The setting of Alien on a huge, gloomy industrial space station, and the behavior of travelling and bypassing security measures via vents. So both the setting and some of the enemy behavior in Alien inspired Dead Space. Several others sci-fi horror movies also inspired it, most notably Event Horizon.

I think the pack was honestly the worst part of any Dead Space game. It reminded you that *no one* was safe. And what makes it worse than the turned infants/toddlers is that the children probably had a better understanding of their surroundings, but still couldn’t understand what horrors were truly going on. But hell, no one knew what was going on

Excellent research and presentation, RG, it's well-paced and informative! Another 'natural' defense Packs might have is that distinct signaling screech and their noises in general. Anyone who's been around kids, especially petulant kids that are expressing irritation and lashing out audibly, have heard that sound they make, it _sucks._ The Visceral audio wizards that turned animal and human sounds into monster screams were in rare form on Activity in High Orbit 2.. (sighs)
Please keep the dead space analysis videos going. I really enjoy them and I know everyone else does as well. If you have any older videos or anything else you can add too like the necros from the comics or the mobile games. There is also some necros that were cut from the game called fly trap necromorphs.

No better way of spending a friday than seeing a bunch of kids getting beated down by an armored guy while a dude is examining their feet to see if there are any changes
I think it's possible that the death by blood loss was the preferable way to kill to minimise limb damage on the body in order to be turned necromorphs, rather than just biomass, more usable corpses more necromorphs, to make more corpses. Actually pretty clever. At some point you have to wonder how much thought is going into these games for model designing, are these just subconsciously brought up by the designers or are the designers actually thinking about these details. Because if it's the second, that's one hell of a morbid job (in games like these).

Roanoke you gotta explore the enemies of the Quake series. They're just so varied from the Lovecraftian horrors of the first game to the mechanical beasts in Quake 2/4. My favorites have to be the Ogre and the Stream Protectors.
