    Your old machine, is the same exact one I just bought last week and I love it!!! I almost bought that new machine, but the only reason I didn’t, is because I seen where a lot of people were already on their 3rd brand new one. That’s nuts!!! You & your wife did a great review on these machines! I just subscribed to your channel and I hope you do more videos like this. Hands down, and awesome review guys!!!!

      I just bought the Virtuo as well and love it. Heard all the bad reviews on the "Next" series and decided on the Virtuo. Not to mention the Virtuo is more attractive imo it has that retro look which I love it goes perfectly with my Kitchenaid mixer with that retro vibe

    The 'old' machine is made by Breville on the non-Next platform. The Vertuo Next is riddled with problems, some Nespresso reviewers here have gone through 3 or 4 Vertuo Next machines. There is now a class action lawsuit in the USA against Nespresso on these garbage machines. If you go Vertuo, go with a Breville-made Vertuo Plus, or the Deluxe. Stay away from the newest, Vertuo Creatista until you see how this shakes out. The Vertuo Creatista is made by Breville, it's stainless steel, but it's on the Next platform. At $795.00 that's an expensive gamble.

    $99AUD at costco at the moment. I was ready to jump on it as its more than 50% off the original price. But reviews says otherwise which made me go for the original line.

    My Vertuo Next quit working after 7 months. I had to send in for repair and was without it for about 3 weeks. When I got it back from repair it leaked out the bottom. They then sent me a new one. Great coffee but their machines are not good. I bought a Vertuo Plus which I like better so now I have the “repaired” Vertuo Next, the new Vertuo Next they sent me and the Vertuo Plus. They never sent a box for the broken one for return so guess I’m keeping it. 🤷‍♀️

    We own both machines. The original Vertuo (now 5 yrs old) is still running, with only one glitch. We hadn’t used it for a period of time, and upon using it again, it developed an air bubble, similar to having an air lock in the line. Even following Nespresso’s directions, we couldn’t dislodge it. We went to the hardware store and purchased a 12- to 18-inch length of clear vinyl tubing, with interior diameter sized to fit snuggly over the water inlet, located beneath the water tank. Remove the water tank, fill the tubing with water, place your finger over the end of the tubing that you’ll then quickly attach over the water inlet. Then, place your moth over the over opposite end of the tubing, and blow the water through the tubing and into the machine. It shouldn’t require all of the water in the tubing to dislodge the air bubbles. Replace the tank and run your machine on a clean cycle. Water will begin flowing again, and the coffee maker is ‘repaired’. Rinse the tube thoroughly, allow it to air dry, and place it in your kitchen drawer if this issue happens again.
    Our Vertuo Next began acting up about 6 months after we bought it. This is a much more ‘twitchy’ machine than its predecessor. We discovered that the fine coffee grounds will occasionally accumulate in the mechanism that punctures and swirls the pod at high speed. After each use, after the pod is released to the bin, we’ll reach up an manually give that puncture/spin pod mechanism a couple of spins. If we (or our guests) forget to do this, we’ll give it a quick spin before the next use. Additionally, this machine definitely needs the 7- to 10-minute clearing/rinsing out (this is not the descaling cycle) every 3 to 4 weeks to clear it of the fine coffee grounds that tend to accumulate. The bin holds fewer used pods, which actually serves as a prompt/reminder to empty the bin, pour out any liquid accumulated in the reservoir from the used pods, and rinse/dry the reservoir to maintain cleanliness. Never had any water leaks that other users report. Yeah, through trial and error, we’ve made this work for us. I wouldn’t hesitate to use the original Vertuo machine in a small office setting. The Vertuo Plus is not a machine for the office, as it needs more attention and routine maintenance than what your typical office worker is willing, or able, to provide.

    • @kragger99
      @kragger99  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you for the detailed summary of your experiences with the machines! I could see how an air bubble could happen in the feed line if not used often - especially where I am as it's so dry here especially in the winter. We use our daily, so hopefully that won't be an issue for us. We're very happy that our original round head model has been great from day 1.

And back to espresso machine breville and now got bored and get lazy, so picking up vertuo . After so many reviews, choose old vertuo machine that you have. Seems little weird. How can i just water come out? Only water without capsule i mean…

    • @kragger99
      @kragger99  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello, and thank you for the comment! I believe for only hot water, if you press the main button 3 times without a capsule inserted, it will provide you with hot water until you press the button again. Please note that the water runs through the same parts, so it will be light brown in colour, and might have some coffee flavour in it. Unfortunately this machine doesn't provide clean hot water.

      Thanks for the comment! I'm Canadian, so we switched the thermometer to Celsius, as many more countries use the Celsius temperature scale internationally. While Fahrenheit might provide a greater variance in the temperature differences because if it's wider scale, I felt many of my non-American viewers might not find those temps relatable. Looking back now, I probably should have shown both C and F, as that would have covered both scales. Glad to hear you love the original - it seems most people that have it still use it, and I rarely hear of that machine failing.

      Thanks for the question! We don't find it too watery and almost always make Latte's. Even the espresso pods taste good, but they won't be as good as a barista-made fresh espresso/latte, but that's the sacrifice made for convenience.

  • @turtlej72

    I recently purchased the Vertuo Next Deluxe purely because it’s use of recycled materials and some steel over plastic in manufacturing and the extra coffee size . But damn I’m sorely disappointed, it’s extremely loud for someone like me that gets up at silly o’clock and likes a coffee before work. And the opening and closing of the lid is terrible compared with the automatic of the Vertuo Plus , I’m also constantly having to mop up water from where you place the capsule which is rather annoying. So a complete let down, I’m returning it because of these issues.

    The selling point maybe the crema but... James Hoffmann proved the Nespresso crema is composed of air. The crema in an espresso is carbon dioxide. If you are concerned with the crema then I suggest moving to an Espresso machine. Espresso is the result of pushing water at 9 bars through coffee. This is a centrifuge process which is different.
    I started with the Nespresso original until I discovered what a real espresso machine has to offer.

    I just bought the original. 8 years after it came out. Haha
    I got that because I didn’t want to be locked in the Nestle’s system.
    Having the option to buy pods from other brands is a big deal.
    Maybe you should have gone with Plus instead of Next. That machine lasts longer.
    Hope your machine will last a long time. 👍

    Love your review video - so great! Please thank The Wife for me as well. :-) Also wanted to ask: is the "old" one a Breville? Not sure if DeLonghi makes the "old" one, too. Lastly, I'm wondering if the two different machines would yield different/better taste? Thank you, again!

      Thank you for the comment! I'm not 100% sure, but I think our original/old model was the Breville manufactured one (originally released in 2014). I don't recall much difference in taste between the 2 machines, but the reported poor reliability of the Next model is a concern. Hopefully they address that in future models.

    My old Nespresso machine lattissima premium broke a few days ago after 10years using. So I decided for buying a new one. We have only Verto plus and Verto Next here where i live.. I chose to sign up for a subscription for Next after a few question with nespresso, and they recommendation the Next for my best option. I am a bit skeptical of fully automatic opening and closing mechanism, how long will it stay that way.

      @kragger99  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Unfortunately I don't have experience with the automatic opening/closing model (Plus) but if I had to choose, I'd pick the Next, as I too would be concerned about the automatic mechanism potentially failing. The Nespresso Roundhead model is my preferred one, but it's not available in some places.

      Be aware about the "almost" universal leakage problem plaguing the Next. It happened to mine.

    I think after you send the pods back they send them somewhere and make potato peelers out of them

    You guys are hilarious. I thoroughly enjoyed watching this video. Thank you for posting it. I saw the Next is on the Black Friday deal and it’s pretty, but I wasn’t sure if I trusted it. It’s hard to find anything to beat the original

      Thank you for the comment! I agree, our original roundhead model is still delivering great coffee 7+ years later.

    Is VertuoPlus Deluxe a good model? I am getting the Delonghi version of Vertuoplus Deluxe although many love the Breville version. I chose this model over the Next because of so many complaints. Did I make a good decision?

      I haven't tried the VertuoPlus Deluxe model, so I can't say for sure, but if I had to choose between the 2 models, I'd choose the Plus Deluxe from what I've seen online. I hope it gives you years of great coffee like our original roundhead model has.

    I purchase the vertuo next and (returned it because of hard to closing and opening) got the Nespresso Vertuo plus (just gentle touch its automatic closing and opining) and actually taste better coffee

    how are you finding the Vertuo Next after some time?

    • @kragger99
      @kragger99  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      We've gone back to using our original roundhead Vertuo, as it produces much better crema, but you raise a good point - we should use the Next for a week or two to see if the crema output improves over time.

    What you see on top it’s not crema. It’s foam.
    You can achieve that with a mixer too. 😂
