    I got my Vertuo for Christmas. The coffee is wonderful but guests complained their coffee wasn't hot enough. No problem, I add boiling water from my electric kettle I have for teas to bring the coffee up to American temperatures. Since the coffee is strong to start, my guests loved it. I also found I could hack my old capsules to make the very best dandelion tea using the aluminum foil stickers found on Amazon. Of course you can refill with coffee too. Since I can't do a lot of coffee, this hack allows me to drink my tea most days and save the real thing for once or twice a week.

    My understanding is that the Vertuo machine still uses the 18 or 19 bars of pressure to brew the coffee and the centrifugal system has only been added to it and has not replaced the pressure system. My Vertuo Plus made by Delonghi uses 19 bars of water pressure and also spins the capsule using the new centrifugal system as well.

      We bought a keurig about 2 years ago. In that span of time we have used it about 25 times. QVC had a sell on Nes. Vertuo a couple of weeks ago for around $160.00 which included 60 pods. This was a great price because that is about the price of 60 pods. We love the taste of the Nes. but find the Nes pods about double the price. I will gladly pay the price until we go broke due to the flavor.
      P.S. The Nes. uses the pod to create different Temps for particular flavors. The flavors run off of a bar code which in turn tells the Nes. machine what, how, how much to brew and the temperature.
      I don't care for really hot things. I prefer a coffee I can drink instead of sip. The Temps. on the Nes. are much more pleasing for my taste and I prefer the flavors on the Nes.

    I'm not sure if that's really crema from the Nespresso Vertuo. Because of the spinning motion, a natural "frothing" is going to occur (not literally with a dairy product, but the centrifugal force is going to cause that to happen). That will result in the visual appearance of more "crema", but crema is actually a result of the extraction of the oils in the coffee. That comes from pressure, which the original Nespresso is using, but not in the same way with the Vertuo. That's the same kind of crema you will get from a portafilter-based traditional espresso machine, and one reason why higher bar (pressure) is desirable. The extraction of the oils from pressure, not spinning, results in the crema and therein lies the caffeine. The original Nespresso machine seems closer to the mechanism of a traditional espresso machine. I think I'm right, but not sure.

    • @NickAlbano253
      @NickAlbano253 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I have an espresso machine, and I agree with you. I'm not that familiar with Nespresso. However, espresso crema from an espresso machine is more oily looking. I mean, you can get thick looking crema, but in my opinion, it looks a tad different than this. I know Breville sells a high end one, and the crema on their high end one looks a lot more like real espresso crema.

    • @roland505

  • @electrofuzz7396
    @electrofuzz7396 3 ปีที่แล้ว +8

    I just wanted to point out that if you want a shot that gets as close to a real Espresso machine as possible then the Classic line is your best choice. The Vertuo might be a better choice if you like tall mixed Espresso beverages. The Vertuo "spin brewing" is a step away from a real Espresso brewing method.

      In actual fact though, the centrifugal system in the Vertuo line is in addition to the 19 bars of pressure and not instead of. The Nespresso Vertuo Plus machine still has the 19 bars of pressure to brew the coffee as well as the new centrifugal system.

    • @electrofuzz7396

      Sadly, I had to stop using my Tassimo machine over a year and a half ago because I was having problems with the milk disks. And in the United States you can’t even buy Tassimo machines much less milk disks, only the coffee and espresso disks. I bought a Nespresso Essenza mini back in December. I had a Vertuo machine and had to return it due to having extreme stomach pain. I wasn’t sure if it was the coffee itself or the aeroccino. I loved the taste of the coffee so it was disappointing :(.

  • @janetbracken7290

    Great overview! But why does everyone assume that the viewer knows that there are two mixing gadgets--one for froth--one for hot milk--and that they come mounted together for the Aeroccino 3 that is included with the Vertuo Plus. My box said there were two whisks in the package. I thought i was missing a part until i looked at several videos. Found one that explains and removes the spring for hot/cold milk. . Nespresso directions are pitiful! I can only use almond milk--fairly good. This also needs to be addressed in videos. Many love latte and cappuccino but do not tolerate cows milk. Please think about adding these topics.

    Don't forget - Nespresso pods are aluminum and 100% recyclable! Nespresso recycles the capsules and the coffee is composted, package, and sold as fertilizer. No waste. Keurig pods are terrible for the environment and nothing is recycled. Just ask Nespresso - they will send you free recycle bags, or you can drop them into a ziplock bag and store in the freezer. There are many places you can drop them off for recycling. Crema, excellent espresso and good for the earth. I bought a Nespresso Essenza and couldn't be happier!

    Vertuo pods are stupid expensive as some are $2 per pod now where the original line have tons of groups making great pods now. Peets pods are much much better than Nespresso's IMO and are only 60-70 cents each depending on the quantity you buy.
