You wouldn't throw a ball from a glove or catch one with your hand. I mean, yes we've all tried both of those things, but you get what I mean. Your hand throws a ball and a glove catches it. TX sends signal and RX receives it.
That was quick clear and conscience. Would you post a vid on how to do this exact setup on a fixed wing using TBS tango v2 transmitter. This stuff is fascinating to me but most of it is over my head and without exception every other posts is just bla bla bla or " you know " or " obviously " or "just like last time "

In the video you point out a specific pad for the signal ground (brown wire). My understanding is that every ground pad on the fc should be the same electrically? Is there something unusual about that brown signal ground wire or can it just be connected to any ground pad on the fc? Thanks for the clear and concise how-to's...you are one of just a few youtubers I go too for information like this.
All the grounds should be the same on most flight controllers. There are some where it may not be and you'll have to consult the documentation for those specific cases. Those are rare however.

Hi , I want to wire my DJI air unit to my immersion vortex 285 , I am using my own transmitter (EzUHF) , any ideas how to do this ? I am going to remove the Video transmitter that is stock , and intend to power directly from the power pad for the main battery lead but would like some ideas where I would wire the other cables .
Sorry, I don't know anything about that model so not sure how the board is wired up or what pads are the UARTs. I assume you got a manual with yours? I'd try to start there.

Don't have that board but it should have come with a manual with wiring diagram. Just match up the wires to the same pads on that FC like in this video and it should work.

And what I can read from the manual is " FC integrated 3.3V, 5V, 12V for a receiver, VTX, camera, buzzer, LED and other peripheral devices" does this mean it will it will be ok to hook it up there even if I fly with a 6s battery? Do you know if the FC will be ok to support 12 with 2a ? Or should I get a regulator between camera and the battery?

I fly 5S with the DJI air unit all the time, power and ground straight from battery. I've read the air unit has a 24v regulator and that people fly 6S without issue as well (though that is pushing it)

You don't have the UART setup correctly. Either the wires are reversed or you don't have MSP enabled on that UART or you have it enabled on the wrong UART.
I'm planning on putting a caddx vista on my rc plane with no flight controller. Should there be a issue with just soldering a jst plug straight into the camera unit with a 300mah 3s lipo powering it ?
For the RC control, only SBUS will work. There might be a way to make a UART RX pad to work as SBUS but that will vary by FC model. You'd have to look at the FC manual for that information.
I have the DJI air unit running the goggles and a DJI remote controller but I cannot figure out how to wire the air unit to the the drone. I have watched many TH-cam videos but they seem to be different wiring specs, help anyone?

Thanks for this vid, at least confirmed what I read on the wiring diagram of HGLRC F722. I'm confused, went over it several times. I couldn't use the wire harness that came with the FC because it's too short (tough luck - would have been easier to just plug in both sides) so I used the cable that came with the air unit which is long enough and solder the cables to corresponding FC pads. I haven't used the last 2 wires because I am not using dji controller. I'm sure I have the wiring correctly done and I verified continuity between each cable of the plug that goes into dji air unit to each pad on the fc. I have MSP activated on the right UART number, I have OSD enabled in BF, dunno what Display does but I cannot enable it for some unknown reason. I have Custom OSD enabled on the Goggles but still not getting any OSD elements. Is there anything else I can still check?
@@AlbertKimTV Finally found the nasty cause of my problem, did felt like the plug that goes into the air unit was a little bit harder to insert than I was used to, in fact a tiny little piece of sh**** cable silicone tubing (hard to even see, probably from when I was removing it from the ends on the other side of the cable to solder to fc) got stuck in the air unit female plug part blocking connection to either white or gray or both, geez that one got me struggling. I even checked continuity of cables but didn't see that one coming. Either way still many thanks man for taking the time and wanting to help me in the first place, much appreciated. Will not forget that, maybe I can help you with sth one day.
Watch the video again. Where the pad labels are make it a bit confusing. It's wired up correctly. Many other people are seeing this incorrectly as well.
Just got my first air unit. I also thought your wiring was reversed. But yeah it's correct. The problem was that the FC labels were on the bottom of the pad. With the other FCs I've worked on over the years (analog), the labels were typically on top of the pads. Thus causing the confusion I guess. Thanks for the tutorial video!

It is rated for 6S but I recommend using a 9V/2A BEC to power it instead. I hear 6S usage over a long time will shorten the life of the Vista from the extra heat produced on 6S over a lower voltage.

That is how the UART connections work. RX to TX and TX to RX. That's just how it is.

Have you turned on the Custom OSD option ON in the settings? Are you on the latest firmware for all components?

Does this Works the same with the o3 bro? My connector came off mob 8 o3 and I don’t have to go through the pain of getting a micro soldering kit.

You still get OSD, just nothing for RC signal

Can you use an alternate pad/uart other than sbus for the controller?
For the RC control, only SBUS will work. There might be a way to make a UART RX pad to work as SBUS but that will vary by FC model. You'd have to look at the FC manual for that information.

You probably have your white and gray wire flipped

You need the flight controller to send the arm signal so the air unit will go to full power. Otherwise it stays in low power mode.

The grey should be on rx not tx right? And white wire should be on tx not rx... that is why mine is not working

Size depends on the power draw requirements. If it draws a lot of power, the thicker the gauge of wire you need.
