I had once read that the test of Isaac was a parallel to the Babylonians/locals of the time. They would argue that their Gods were truly serious and worth following because their Gods demanded true sacrifices: children. (The heating up of their statues etc.) The story of Isaac was a point of conversion to show that this Abraham was just as devoted, but God does not ask for that sacrifice. @@jrc99us er no, who wrote them and when were they written? Also explain why they contradict each other in some many ways, for instance why do they each have Jesus doing different things the last week he was alive, which one is correct?
@@ramptonarsecandle Matthew wrote Matthew in the 1st Century, Mark wrote Mark in the 1st Century, Luke wrote Luke in the 1st Century, and John wrote John in the 1st Century. There are no contradictions between all 4 Gospels. Different perspectives but not contradictions.
@@jrc99us You really don't know your biblical history do you? Mark, the earliest gospel, was written at least after 70 A.D. (referencing fall of temple) by a non-eyewitness, and makes numerous cultural and geographical errors that a Jewish writer would not have made such as locations of rivers, cultural customs regarding divorce, locations of towns or Jesus quoting from the Greek Septuagint etc. The other gospels all copied from Mark. Luke and Matthew contain over 70% of Mark and mainly make changes in attempts to fix blatant errors made in Mark and to correct Mark’s poor grammar. The writer of Luke even reveals to us in Luke 1:2 that he was not an eyewitness, but that the story has been passed down to him. All contradict in nearly every way; 1. What year was Jesus born (Herod or Caesar’s tax?) 2. His genealogy 3. The day he was crucified and his final words 4. The resurrection account There are over 40 gospel accounts, the earliest being written at least later than 70 A.D., not just the four in the bible. 1. Four where chosen by the church father Irenaeus because he believed the earth was founded on four pillars and so too, should the gospels be founded by only four accounts. 2. Irenaeus also revealed the names of the Gospels in the late second century, without any reason to assume they where the authentic authors - no one knows who actually wrote them! 3. John was initially considered heretical by the early church because of its variation from the synoptic but was overwhelmingly popular amongst Christians and so was included. Maybe brush up on your history and come back to me. This from a well known site; The four canonical gospels were probably written between AD 66 and 110. All four were anonymous (the modern names were added in the 2nd century), almost certainly none were by eyewitnesses, and all are the end-products of long oral and written transmission. The authors of the four canonical Gospels appear to be well-educated later writers who were skilled in Greek composition, writing about what they had heard, and doing so in religio-politically motivated ways; since they were not witnesses to any of the events, their works must be read as second-hand knowledge only. Also the works were originally anonymous with names added far later. Or this; He never met Jesus. Matthew and John were disciples who travelled with Jesus. None of them, the Gospel is written many years after crucifixion of Jesus, they are anonymous, only named as Mark, Matthew, Luke and John, none of them ever met Jesus, and none of them wrote any of the Gospels. If you have evidence that shows I'm wrong I'd be interested to see it. As for your Jesus he is clearly fictional as why else would they wait for 80yrs before documenting things? Makes no sense, all the early non-secular accounts are either forged or so insignificant that they're not worth mentioning. The fact that they are shows desperation on the claimant and not any factual evidence.
Part of me wishes that evangelism wasnt so geared toward pointing at Heaven. It's not really about going to heaven, it's about having a relationship with God. As as soon as it becomes about going to an awesome *place*, it goes askew. I do respect and love what he's doing!
8:22 I think there's a missed opportunity here with this kid. Hebrew only has about 7000 words, compared to the roughly 100,000 plus words that were in the Early Modern English language at the end of the 1700s, which was the end of the century during which the King James Bible was written. Because the language is so small, Hebrew depends highly on context. Translations will always have accuracy variance because the translator is trying to apply the best word that fits the context, but that word is biased according to the translator's cultural assumptions and paradigms.
This works both ways though , for example Christians often use this as a defence when discussing slavery. They will say the Hebrew word "EBED" has several meanings including servant and slave. They claim that atheist like me are obviously using the wrong interpretation when we talk of "slave". However the Greeks had no such confusion with their words and had seperate words for servant and slave. so I think it telling that the septuagint uses the word doulos 300 times , and there is no ambiguity about this word as doulos literal means slave , " one who is owned" . So at least it is clear what the translators in the 3rd century BC thought the meaning was. And this is the bible that *jesus* is thought to have quoted from hmmm?. 🤔🤔🤔
@@trumpbellend6717 the septuagint may well have been the first translation into another language, but there were plenty of native speakers in Hebrew, which fell into disuse about 200 AD, much later than Jesus' ministry. You are still arguing for the translations when you forget this.
Have you noticed the first chick was swift to ask a question but seemed to stem away from the response? By the time 4:30 rolled around, she just lost interest BUT you can see others who are intensely looking on and listening. That's because (speaking as a Shepard) "You do not believe, because you are not of my sheep, as I said unto you. My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand." -Jesus Jesus's other title is.. "the good Shepard"
Even from sentence one, I believe we can demonstrably show that Jesus doesn’t love one more than the next person in line who loves us. Meaning like, one’s grandma, father, sibling, best friend, etc. not only can you introduce these people to me very simply to show that they exist, which is a very low bar to pass, I can point to things they say specifically to you or loving actions I can actually observe or at least hear stories of how these people interact with you.
I love you Cliff! Keep preaching brother man. If I may attempt to answer the young girls question as to why God allows evil, is it because he does not break his laws? In genesis, God gave people dominion over this Earth. He owns it but we are renting it. He would need our permission to intervene. Once Jesus stepped on the scene however, he has authority to stop evil at will because he has a legal body to do so.
Hey Cliff at 9 minutes 40 seconds into the video the young lady asks why doesn't God just wipe out evil completely. A good response to this is what Doctor Michael Heiser likes to say and if God decided to wipe out evil tomorrow there would be no human beings on the planet LOL 😂 but we know one day God will wipe out evil on judgment Day. Love the videos bro me and my family watch them all the time and have probably seen most of them. Keep up the good work God bless.
The deeper question what some agnostics ask is why God does not fix evil out of existence, why does He not humble sinners down and teach them how to behave the right way.
@@mr.s7522 Free will does not explain why some loves God and others dont. What is that difference in their nature which makes one love God and another not. Biblically it seem to be pride, that some portion of beings fell into pride and rebelled against God. Pride is a corruption, a filthy condition which cannot love God. However, pride cannot be so strong that God cannot humble it down. “’Now your impurity is lewdness. Because I tried to cleanse you but you would not be cleansed from your impurity, you will not be clean again until my wrath against you has subsided." @@mr.s7522 Well, that is under the question, can we simply choose to get proud or choose to stay away from it. It might be the circumstances which makes some fall into pride. Remember how Paul received a messenger of Satan into his flesh? To discipline him because God saw that there is a danger for Paul to fall into pride. God did not simply tell Paul "Paul, use your free will, choose not to fall into pride" no, God let a demon into his flesh to keep him humble and even though Paul asked three times to get it out God did not do it.
Amazing vid, knocked it out of the park. Just wished there was more conversation with the young man more towards the beginning about kjv, commandments and stuff. The focus of Isaac was really a trust test. God never wanted to kill Isaac, especially as a sacrifice. God hates human sacrifice. Christ, though while He was flesh, His spirit was God. A person who was a blank slate in the sense of sin free. He died because only He was strong enough and perfect enough to take on the sins of the whole world. I would also remind the young man the difference between prescriptive scripture, what should happen or what you should do. As well as descriptive scripture, just saying what happened.
it's actually not. His ability to speak is good, there is no challenging that however when he talks he doesn't always answer the question he goes off track (in a very smart way , i might add) to may it appear is if he answered the question. another thing he does is he'll reward the asker emotionally with a statement like "Good Question, i like that" he doesn't seem to be malicious or to be a dickhead like other preachers , he clearly believes what he is saying there is no doubting that and he believes that the way he is explaining it is the right way and only way to god, there is no doubting that either. He just phrases it in a way that supposedly can't be challenged. and it can't be challenged because the people he is talking to know less on the subject than he does, regardless that he is wrong, they can't challenge him because ... 1. He does this most every day 2. He repeats it over and over to develop a skill on the matter 3. He has in depth knowledge of the bible and they don't it's like trying to play basketball with michael jordon , you can't win, he's just too good at it . This guy in a way is like Dr Dre From N.W.A. For a very long time back in the 90s dr Dre was considered to be a gangster of gangsters, it was later found out that he never was a gangster or part of gang, THE POINT IS.... Dr DRE mastered the art of HOW TO TALK AND ACT LIKE A GANGSTA, what we later called a "Studio Gangster" . and this guy here has mastered was to say and how to act and i haven't yet seen anyone who knows how to get around it WITH THE EXCEPTION OF 2 PEOPLE Matt Dillahunty and the other bloke that had the debate with this guy and his son, but i haven't seen anyone on a uni campus know how to do it so you see, when he talks to people who have knowledge regarding the bible (as i do for the record) it's a different story here on the campus, someone asks a question then he talks and every is quite yo'll notice for a good few minutes but.. say him and matt, he'll say something then matt will say ... Umm no actually that's not correct and this isn't correct and that's not correct and his only response will be, yes it is its a completely different ball game when he's talking to someone who knows what they are talking about, but he definitely believes what he is saying is true
He just puts things in a way people can understand it. It helps when you have rational truth on your side too. The other arguments just fall apart like leaves in a hailstorm.
The white guy in the mask and semi long blonde hair had a lot of good questions and he knows his word but clearly he’s run with misinterpretations and bitterness/pride that separated himself from the lord. I’ve been in his shoes with a ton of questions and my fists pointed at God but last year I gave my life back to him after being incredibly depressed and crippled with a debilitating anxiety disorder. He set me free and I fell in love with him in the process. Not because of what he did but what he is and who he’s always been. I can’t have pride when living out a life following christ because I am not God. His ways are not my ways
Some people cant get their head around God’s love or Jesus loves you... they think his love is different or unfathomable or cannot be known or it doesn’t exist But we love and how is this possible? Brilliantly spoken Cliffe. You have nailed it once again. I would love you to come to Perth Western Australia 🇦🇺
I am fully convinced at your deliverence of sermon.
I had once read that the test of Isaac was a parallel to the Babylonians/locals of the time. They would argue that their Gods were truly serious and worth following because their Gods demanded true sacrifices: children. (The heating up of their statues etc.)
The story of Isaac was a point of conversion to show that this Abraham was just as devoted, but God does not ask for that sacrifice.
Interesting take that could be brought up in future discussion.
I still like Cliffe's take, CS Lewis shows the idea of worshipping your children too much in The Great Divorce

Beautiful. It's amazing but I want to see more. And many people doesn't think that it is very important.

That your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God.
Your audience and listener faith in the wisdom not in the power of God. There must be something we need which we are missing.
God bless you for your ministry

Once in a while it's refreshing to get a vid where the college students actually engage in dialog, not scream at the top of their lungs or constantly restate their positions to make themselves sound right.
Even though there were students there rehashing old, debunked arguments, they actually listened and had enough courage to accept Cliffe's answers.
Thank you for your continued defense of the Truth in Jesus Christ Cliffe!
Debunked arguments? I don't think so, how about you show me some evidence for your Jesus?
@@ramptonarsecandle sure the historically verified accounts of Jesus of Nazareth in the books of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John.
All contradict in nearly every way;
1. What year was Jesus born (Herod or Caesar’s tax?)
2. His genealogy
3. The day he was crucified and his final words
4. The resurrection account
There are over 40 gospel accounts, the earliest being written at least later than 70 A.D., not just the four in the bible.
This from a well known site;
The four canonical gospels were probably written between AD 66 and 110.
Or this;
He never met Jesus.
Come to Georgia, Cliff!
You are still arguing for the translations when you forget this.
wow..god bless
Long live Cliffe :)
Have you noticed the first chick was swift to ask a question but seemed to stem away from the response?
By the time 4:30 rolled around, she just lost interest BUT you can see others who are intensely looking on and listening. That's because (speaking as a Shepard)
"You do not believe, because you are not of my sheep, as I said unto you.
My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:
And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand."
-Jesus
Jesus's other title is.. "the good Shepard"
All Facts 💯
Even from sentence one, I believe we can demonstrably show that Jesus doesn’t love one more than the next person in line who loves us. Meaning like, one’s grandma, father, sibling, best friend, etc. not only can you introduce these people to me very simply to show that they exist, which is a very low bar to pass, I can point to things they say specifically to you or loving actions I can actually observe or at least hear stories of how these people interact with you.
“I gonna hide behind some intellectual smokescreen...” brilliant
I need to visit and see cliff.
Grow up , get your head out of the bible and read a real book. Get educated.

@@nikokapanen82 I suppose it goes down to what Free will truly is
@@mr.s7522
Free will does not explain why some loves God and others dont.
Because I tried to cleanse you but you would not be cleansed from your impurity, you will not be clean again until my wrath against you has subsided." Ezekiel 24:13
"Now I, Nebuchadnezzar, praise and exalt and glorify the King of heaven, because everything he does is right and all his ways are just. And those who walk in pride he is able to humble." Daniel 4:37
@@nikokapanen82 yes but they're free to fall into pride or love God or Not. We are unlike animals or autonomous machines.
They say Pride is the greatest sin which all sins can sprout from
@@mr.s7522
Well, that is under the question, can we simply choose to get proud or choose to stay away from it.
Love these videos ❤️
Intellectual smoke screen!!! This guys speaking ability is insane. Everything he says is clear.
it's actually not. His ability to speak is good, there is no challenging that however when he talks
he doesn't always answer the question he goes off track (in a very smart way , i might add) to may it appear is if he answered the question.
another thing he does is he'll reward the asker emotionally with a statement like "Good Question, i like that"
he doesn't seem to be malicious or to be a dickhead like other preachers , he clearly believes what he is saying there is no doubting that and he believes that the way he is explaining it is the right way and only way to god, there is no doubting that either.
He just phrases it in a way that supposedly can't be challenged.
and it can't be challenged because the people he is talking to know less on the subject than he does, regardless that he is wrong, they can't challenge him because ...
1. He does this most every day
2. He repeats it over and over to develop a skill on the matter
3. He has in depth knowledge of the bible and they don't
it's like trying to play basketball with michael jordon , you can't win, he's just too good at it .
This guy in a way is like Dr Dre From N.W.A.
For a very long time back in the 90s dr Dre was considered to be a gangster of gangsters, it was later found out that he never was a gangster or part of gang, THE POINT IS.... Dr DRE mastered the art of HOW TO TALK AND ACT LIKE A GANGSTA, what we later called a "Studio Gangster" .
and this guy here has mastered was to say and how to act and i haven't yet seen anyone who knows how to get around it WITH THE EXCEPTION OF 2 PEOPLE Matt Dillahunty and the other bloke that had the debate with this guy and his son, but i haven't seen anyone on a uni campus know how to do it
so you see, when he talks to people who have knowledge regarding the bible (as i do for the record) it's a different story
here on the campus, someone asks a question then he talks and every is quite yo'll notice for a good few minutes
but..
say him and matt, he'll say something then matt will say ... Umm no actually that's not correct and this isn't correct and that's not correct and his only response will be, yes it is
its a completely different ball game when he's talking to someone who knows what they are talking about,
but he definitely believes what he is saying is true
@@martinkuliza Thank you for explaining this.

Some people cant get their head around God’s love or Jesus loves you... they think his love is different or unfathomable or cannot be known or it doesn’t exist
But we love and how is this possible? Because God made us in his image- he created love like we love- but..His love is perfect and unconditional
