People try using human analogies to explain God but that's impossible. The divine is something we can't relate to but the more we learn the word we understand* a bit more and the more our love grows each time we read it. Im impressed by how Cliffe uses human analogies to help non-believers understand lol his responses are immaculate.
Well we can since Jesus Is God and lived as a human being, we have the life of Christ to measure of how god works based of what he says and also his character and actions!!
@@drc2004 yes, its so beautiful how Jesus loves us so much that he became us and humbled himself to an extent to feel the extremes(bad & good) of human emotions. No other god has that power to limit* themselves the same way Christ did just to prove his love for us.
yeah like when cliff says god is not a Cosmic Engineer but a Father, I was like "well actually he's both" we can only imagine. It's always bothered me when people say that God wiped out everybody except for his favorite person Noah. That is completely false. Those people were making fun of Noah for a very long time when he was trying to warn them to get on the boat. That was God's warning to get on the boat. They thought he was crazy until the flood came and then they realized he wasn't so crazy. They rejected the warnings to be spared and so when judgment fell they were slept away. God was willing to save everybody but they chose not to believe what Noah was saying so they fell victim to that consequence. Similarly to nowadays where a lot of us are warning people to repent and get right with God and people are calling us crazy and then when the rapture happens and Jesus comes back they're gonna realize just like in the days of Noah, like the Bible says that we weren't crazy and they're going to have a lot of regret.

One student had a problem understanding the difference between punishment and consequences. Cliffe gave some good analogies to help understand it. We are born into a messed up world, but this should not take us away from understanding that God really loves us, and wants the best for us, as demonstrated by Jesus coming to suffer and die on our behalf.
Another good example of knowing what will happen and still grieving over it, is death. We all know that everyone dies. And yet, when someone we love passes, we still grieve.
"Consequence and punishment are synonymous" Ok. You get drunk. You decide to go for a drive. You crash into someone. That person dies. Your car is totaled. That is the consequences of your actions. The prison time you serve when the police catch up to you and arrest you is the punishment. The crash was not your punishment. Punishments are consequences, but not all consequences are punishments.
I became a Christian in 2014 at first I was on fire for God and he would speak to me through scripture and individuals and circumstances etc but recently I don't feel his presence, he don't speak to me anymore and feels very much distant, I have let sin get in the way and I have backsliden, I feel lost and not coping with life.
A college undergrad cant understand the difference between a consequence and a punishment. I dont even need a dictionary to know that punishment needs an authoritative action by a medium(person) directed upon a person, while consequence is the result of ACTIONS leading to an event.
For the gentleman trying to see the difference between a consequence and a punishment. A consequence is a logical result of an action or decision, it can be positive or negative. A punishment is an intentional action to impose suffering or discomfort as a response to undesirable behavior. If God knew that his pulling away would cause suffering I understand why that would look like punishment. However along with the suffering there is free will. So God was respecting the free will of humans and as a result the consequence of suffering happened.
The difference between consequence and punishment, is punishment comes from doing something you were told not to do, ex. getting suspended for starting a fight at school. Consequence simply means a result of an action. Their are good and bad consequences. I put diesel fuel in my gas powered car and then it breaks down, is a bad consequence to my stupidity. If I change my old nearly bald tire and put a brand new one on, I now have good tread and traction, a good consequence. Consequences and Punishment are 2 very different things
@28:00 with that fella. It’s more like, if you fail to sew crops in spring you won’t have anything to harvest in fall. It’s not a punishment, it’s a consequence, albeit a negative consequence for you. Big difference between not reaping good things you’ve sewn and being sent to jail. Similarly with his hypothetical
The girl who asks the question about natural disasters hit the nail on the head. Does it not make sense that if a loving God existed, he would have created a planet that did not involve earthquakes ( which kill and maim innocent people in the hundreds of thousands), I can see no logical reason for a truly loving God to invoke earthquakes. However, if this planet was not specifically created by God, and we understand how and why earthquakes occur, it makes perfect sense that earthquakes happen. Any school kid can look up on their cell phones and Wikipedia will tell them everything they need to know about earthquakes and why they occur. No God is required.
@@kingti85 why would God create a planet that had massive earthquakes my friend, knowing the sheer death and devastation it causes to innocent people, including his own devout believers, can you think of a rational explanation?
@@bonnie43uk I don't really know because I've only been paying attention to Christianity for about a week, but from what I've heard Cliff say - The world became tainted and cursed when man rebelled against God God is love but God is just. He ordered Israel to destroy the Canaanites for their wicked sins. (Not saying the disasters are punishments necessarily) God inhibited his own power to give us free will and natural disasters are a result of that? I ran into some problems with evolution and the big bang so I'm looking for some real answers. I hope you can find the answers that you seek. 🙏❤
25:16 Why should I have to suffer the consequences of decisions I never made? I wasn't in that garden I didn't eat that fruit and yet I'm suffering the consequences of those who did. In what other instance would that be considered okay? In what other instance would it be okay to make people suffer the consequences of others? Other they never met and choices they never made?
God is the Creator AND sustainer of the earth. By our free will we rebel and if we don’t want God in our life he is under no obligation to keep the weather and other parts of nature in perfect harmony for us. It was very good in the beginning. Without God sustaining that very good weather even the weather breaks down.
Cause and consequence is a thing and a consequence is a result of an action and the the crossfire which the world is caught up from our sin is not a punishment. Its a consequence of our free will and disobedience. It’s our fault really i believe is what he’s saying.
If there aren't any disasters (natural or man-made), how do you expect to die? Humans don't live forever, so there has to be a way for us to die and meet our maker

Great points from the first guy smoking the cigarette. I think most Christians struggle with the concept that when we die, thats it. Ask yourself where were you before your parents got romantic and created you?, As far as i can see, i did not exist in any form before that moment as a sentient being. When I die, I will be in exactly the same position in that, I will not exist. Same for every living being. For me, that makes this life more precious. I get that many Christians will struggle believing that, and can't wrap their head around not existing after death. Same as I can't get my head around a place like Hell existing. Who invented Hell?
I don't think so Bonnie, most Christians i know, know there is more to a human than the physical. I think the idea of one ceasing to exist goes aginst the evidence. Also as a Christian it is obvious that Christ is reliable and he pointed out that indeed there is life after death, a real judgment and a real reward.

10:31 if it is a contrediction, why doesn't he mention the fact that even ANGELS have free will? Look what happened in the beggining. satan was an angel and he rebelled against God by taking 1/3 of the angels to rebel against their Creator and God knew that would happen and that satan wouldn't win the fight. This proves that even Angels have free will, just like us, and that proves that evil ultimatly loses.

@saintpaulofyoutube4416 so are our decisions determined by nothing or determined by who we are? If it's determined by who we are, then what determines who we are? At some point, it must be either determined by something or completely random and cause-less.

17:40 cliffe needs to add another test to his historical reliability. Does the text claim things without an empirical basis like magic, mythical creatures, talking animals, and other things that we know humans make up all the time?
I have been thinking about something about the bible which I have not been able to find an answer to. Titus 1:2 God cant lie Leviticus 18:21 and Deuteronomy 12:31 both mention that God do not want human sacrifices. But in Genesis 22:1-19 the story about Abraham where God ask Abraham to sacrifice his son Isaac but Abraham sacrifice a goat instead (If I remember correct it was a goat) but the problem here is that 1. If it was a test then God lied to Abraham about wanting a human sacrifice in the form of his son which goes again (Titus 1:2 God cant lie) 2.If it was not a test so that God didnt lie to Abraham about wanting a him to sacrifice his son then it goes against (leviticus 18:21 and Deuteronomy 12:32 which both says “God wont have human sacrifices) So did God lie about want a human sacrifice to Isaac or are God lying about not wanting human sacrifices?
I have a good question. Q: Is there ANYWHERE in the Bible where Jesus himself clearly explains in simple easy to understand language what the hell is hell? Is it actual physical and mental punishment?, or simply emptiness, I think Cliffe calls it a "separation from God". I can absolutely accept nothingness after death, but this concept of actual punishment I find troubling for mankind.
All good things come from God, all the things you enjoy, everything that makes you and I happy are from God. Hell is complete eternal separation from God, eternal pain and suffering cause of the absence of God. Hope that helps, sorry if I put that poorly it's like 3am right now
@@UNeedDaBeef good to get your thoughts, it's 08:00am here in the UK. That is obviously your own personal take on Hell, it very much seems to depend on which Christian you speak to. I've never once heard Cliffe describe Hell as eternal pain and suffering. Here on planet earth, there is no decent Judge who would sentence a criminal who'd committed horrific crimes to undergo pain and suffering, we tend to lock those people away from society, whilst giving them a modicum of basic human rights, food and drink, a bed, a book to read etc. What you are positing sounds horrific beyond belief.
@@bonnie43uk I mean complete separation from God, and every single thing that you and I enjoy or get something from that is good, is from God. So hell is eternal pain and suffering because of the absence of God. Hopefully I worded that a little better
4:00 cliffe really avoids the point of the question. It's not about being certain about who is going to hell, it's about believing that a loved one could suffer forever for the "crime" of not being absolutely perfect. That would be cruel, petty, and pointless.
No? The question was “ Why should I believe in a religion that says that a loved one is going to hell because they believe something else?” Now he was explaining that it is unknown who will go to heaven, because they could profess and accept Jesus on their deathbed. You have to take the context of the argument.
@raeganmari3 yeah I see what you're saying but the point of the question wasn't about knowing who is going to hell. It's about worshipping a god that would allow your loved ones to suffer for the crime of being imperfect. If your loved ones don't repent, do they deserve to die and suffer?
@@spooky6902 where did you see imperfect? He said that he didn't like people saying his parents were going to hell because they didn't believe in Jesus, not being rude! Just asking :)
@raeganmari3 no problem you're not being rude at all. He never said imperfect, but I think that's part of the deeper meaning of his question. Regardless of what he meant, why should we worship a god who has decided our loved ones deserve to die for the crime of being imperfect?
@ No one could ever be “perfect”, Jesus was the only human who ever walked this earth sinless. That is why when He was crucified, He overcame death. Jesus’s sacrifice/crucifixion was a gift, when we accept it, all of our sins are forgiven, because of that sacrifice. Now when you’re a different religion, you do not accept the gift Jesus gave us because you do not believe He is God. That is why it is not possible for you to “get to heaven.” What cliffe is saying is that he does not know who will go to heaven or not, because a person could accept Jesus’s gift as they’re dying and no one would know it. Hell is the separation from God, if you don’t spend your life with Him, you obviously wouldn’t want to spend eternity with Him, and that is why those who separate themselves from God, are said to go to hell. Not because they’re “imperfect”, but because they obviously don’t love Him enough to obey Him and accept His gift of eternal life.
8:04 cliffe, we know that people can exist, that they can be crucified, they can be named Jesus, they can be faith healers and preachers. All of that is known to be possible. It's the claims of things we have no evidence can happen that aren't reasonable to believe like miracles and magic.
@UNeedDaBeef I have. There are only claims which is the same evidence you now have for my ressurection. The same evidence we have for magic, mythical creatures, alien abductions, voodoo, faith healers, etc...
imho. . . . once a person accepts the posit that God is real, that He is responsible for creation...... in the next second, one should be able to realize we are accountable to this Creator....and He is identified to be Jesus Christ. What gets in the way is all the other religious entities.... . . . now one has weigh the evidence to be able to choose. Since Jesus is the only one with clear evidence of being the only representative of God, who came, lived, taught , was crucified on a Cross, and 3 days later, it is recorded in history that He rose from the tomb, seen by large crowds for the next 40 days before returning to His place in heaven. . . .It is a safe conclusion that He really is the only path to the other side called Heaven

Just because you feel uncomfortable about bad people getting away with things doesn’t mean you get to make up an imaginary friend in the sky that’s gonna rectify all that and make it all better for you. That’s wishful thinking and it’s complete arrogance to go around college campuses insisting that your imaginary friend is the one and only god that is allowed to judge you for things that aren’t even wrong.

The only thing that’s ignorant is your false claims. God is not just bound to religion but history as well. There’s plenty of evidence such as Dead Sea scrolls, The book of enoch and much more. And yet no evidence that he doesn’t exist , even with science it is plausible that a god exists for only life can form life. Now I would like to see you construct an argument worth me actually having to use my brain to refute. If you actually took the time out of your day to do some open minded research then you would see what I mean.
19:58 Jesus did answer the question. (Sort of) They told him at the beginning of Luke chapter 13 verses one through four, about terrible human evil that was inflicted on certain people and also in answering, he brings up a terrible natural disaster that occurred. He posed the question. Do you think these people were greater sinners because they suffered in this way? No, but unless you repent you will likewise perish. Whether we die peacefully or we die in a terrible tragedy, we will perish eternally if we do not repent and that is what Jesus gets at. That is the more important question. We can’t know God‘s purposes for allowing evil. And unless we see his purposes through the lens of Christ crucified, taking all of that suffering on himself, so that one day we will not have to suffer anymore, we will only see an angry God and despair. The only way suffering makes any sense is to see it through Christ. Martin Luther observed this also. If we try to discern the mind of God and eternity past which he has not revealed, we will only drive ourselves into despair.

But based on God's word & creation we can assume he's basically a master of every skill, has the pinnicale of wisdom, and against all odds loves us dumb evil humans as his own children 😢
@@addman1952 God is every human(bad & evil, famous & infamous) as genuine as we can be! He's the fountain that pours life into all of us. And Jesus Christ is God being as close to us as he can be!

“There are standards in life” the silence after that statement was loud.
God sees future eternity from past eternity, vice versa and both at once🤯That is wild to think about
Lol i love clint bro took back his 5😭😭😭😭😭
Another good example of knowing what will happen and still grieving over it, is death. We all know that everyone dies. And yet, when someone we love passes, we still grieve.
"Consequence and punishment are synonymous"
Ok.
Yeah. People mix this up a lot. I used to make the same mistake. I realized that consequences is another way of saying effects.

I love when the Bible says "do not cast pearls before swine". That white guy in the black with the hat, is the perfect example of it.
A college undergrad cant understand the difference between a consequence and a punishment. I dont even need a dictionary to know that punishment needs an authoritative action by a medium(person) directed upon a person, while consequence is the result of ACTIONS leading to an event.
Cliffe the man.

Thank you.❤
The difference between consequence and punishment, is punishment comes from doing something you were told not to do, ex. getting suspended for starting a fight at school.
Why can't both be true?
@@kingti85 why would God create a planet that had massive earthquakes my friend, knowing the sheer death and devastation it causes to innocent people, including his own devout believers, can you think of a rational explanation?
@@bonnie43uk I don't really know because I've only been paying attention to Christianity for about a week, but from what I've heard Cliff say -
The world became tainted and cursed when man rebelled against God
God is love but God is just. He ordered Israel to destroy the Canaanites for their wicked sins. (Not saying the disasters are punishments necessarily)
God inhibited his own power to give us free will and natural disasters are a result of that?

25:16
Why should I have to suffer the consequences of decisions I never made?
Humans don't live forever, so there has to be a way for us to die and meet our maker
our bodies slowly start malfunctioning, very few people live past 100. With regard natural disasters, why would God create such things knowing the young children and babies are going to suffer and die.
@@bonnie43uk have you forgotten why we live till 100? The bible says that God capped our lifespan, and these disasters are not useless, they serve a purpose. Now if you're a parent living in an area that you know has many disasters, why not move?

God does punish evil with natural disasters and wars and lack of rain as recorded in leviticus and kings and parlimenon.
Hey pastors are we supposed to hold the 7 feast still or are they complete 8n Jesus Christ
I have been thinking about something about the bible which I have not been able to find an answer to.
Titus 1:2 God cant lie
Leviticus 18:21 and Deuteronomy 12:31 both mention that God do not want human sacrifices.
But in Genesis 22:1-19 the story about Abraham where God ask Abraham to sacrifice his son Isaac but Abraham sacrifice a goat instead (If I remember correct it was a goat) but the problem here is that
1. If it was a test then God lied to Abraham about wanting a human sacrifice in the form of his son which goes again (Titus 1:2 God cant lie)
2.If it was not a test so that God didnt lie to Abraham about wanting a him to sacrifice his son then it goes against (leviticus 18:21 and Deuteronomy 12:32 which both says “God wont have human sacrifices)
So did God lie about want a human sacrifice to Isaac or are God lying about not wanting human sacrifices?
Show me another person that died and came back to life with the same amount of evidence as Jesus
@UNeedDaBeef ok, I died and came back to life. There. Now you have as much evidence that I resurrected as you do for Jesus
@@spooky6902 No I do not, I have 0 evidence of your resurrection. Please research the evidence of Christ's resurrection.
@UNeedDaBeef I have. There are only claims which is the same evidence you now have for my ressurection. The same evidence we have for magic, mythical creatures, alien abductions, voodoo, faith healers, etc...
@UNeedDaBeef I have, there is none. There are only the claims unsupported by evidence. It's a story.
imho. . . . once a person accepts the posit that God is real, that He is responsible for creation...... in the next second, one should be able to realize we are accountable to this Creator....and He is identified to be Jesus Christ.

These kids don't want to believe the new testament written by eyewitnesses or thise who talked to eyewitnesses, but will believe the story of Alexander the great written 400 years AFTER he lived!!!!!
These kids hearts are deceitful & desperately wicked. Jeremiah 17:9.
I left 3 or 4 messages that were deleted.Isn't youtube grand
its really gone down hill Jacob.
I've adopted the philosophy that I'm just gonna say what I want and if TH-cam allows it to be seen... so be it. If not, I no longer care.
@saintpaulofyoutube4416 That's primarily what I do. But once in a while, certain comments were important. And the one about Tom got deleted, but that's okay. It's not important, do you know I was trying to warn this new person. It was more about directly about God and doctrines and warning people about there. Like the Bible said, we'll be told in the end times to lead people away from Christ when that happens. I'll sometimes try 2 or 3 × 2 get it on there. And then if it's deleted and then I just leave it. But I try Still have you and family and prayers? I hope you're doing well. I primarily stop sending you stuff because I know you're too busy to respond and I don't know if you want to be loaded down by lots of poetry so except for a very rare occasion. I don't send you anything. Just let me know how you're doing. God bless your brother.
The born sinner thing is nonsense, people aren't inherently bad, yea we make mistakes but not everything could be defined as "evil"...and there are some truly evil people out there, but most people aren't.
Agreed. And how is what Adam&eve did anyone else's fault
Watch "Mankind in sin" by paul washer, humans are 100% born into sin
Oh Cliff using Psychology to explain God and relativity .
IS .adam and eve ,myth, story ,fantasy historical .Who are the witnesses,.
and how accurate is it.
Obviously there would be no witnesses..Human life had to start somewhere .
27:15 cliffe himself laughs at the ridiculousness of what he's saying. He's saying the suffering of innocent children is God respecting free will. Hey God, it's okay if you protect me from an unfair and painful death from a natural disaster. Don't worry about my free will for that one, it's okay.
That's clearly not what he was saying, I don't want to call you dishonest but I encourage you to think more about what Cliffe is saying
Just before the timestamp I listed, cliffe is talking about the suffering of children being a consequence of the fall of man. The guy asks, "if that's not a punishment then what is it?". And cliffe responds that it is God respecting free will.
@@spooky6902 When we sin we are telling God to distance himself from us, God respects our free will choice to sin and distances himself. Chaos, evil and suffering fill the gap. It is not a punishment, but it is a consequence. God is good, all good things come from God, so when God distances himself evil fills the gap.
