  • We put on our House Hunters International hats today, as we look at Real Estate in Fethiye Turkey, a city with many year-round British Expats. We are joined in our search by "Mr. Fethiye" Ronnie Higgins, a Real Estate agent and TH-camr from Scottland that has called Fethiye home for 25 years. We take a look at homes and apartments that are for sale near Fethiye Turkey, and we also explain what they may rent for per month. If you're a potential Expat, Immigrant, or Investor this video is for you.
    The city of Fethiye is a bustling beach city that is a popular tourist destination, as well as a year-round favorite British Expat location. Fethiye offers a great quality of life, rich in history and popular beaches. The average US Retiree on Social Security receives $1,650 a month, and a couple on Social Security receives over $2,600 a month. A US Expat living on Social Security can expect a great standard of living in Turkey when compared to the living costs in the US.
    Currently Turkey is a tremendous value for Expats with income from abroad.

    Do you want to live abroad as an Expat? Are you looking for affordable and viable options? We are exploring the world to see what it's like to live in a country, and also discover if Residency is an option.
    We began our retirement in March of 2020 with the intent to travel the world, spending 1-3 months in a country or location. We want to see what it's like to live there and not simply visit, and we want to share these experiences and the costs with whoever wishes to follow along.

    Comparing Fethiye to California is a disservice to Fethiye. Last time I was in California it was full of homeless people, drug addicts and dangerous streets. Fethiye is a paradise compare to Cali.

    Awesome Video What does it take to get residency out there? 3K per month or less.? Etc

    • @WarrenJulieTravel
      @WarrenJulieTravel  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You can get by on far less, we did a residency video during our last visit and much has changed. We’ll be doing an update soon. They are limiting the areas to 20% foreign population for residency, so some areas are off the list to live for the moment.

    How would Turkey's 85% inflation rate affect an American with income in USD?

    • @WarrenJulieTravel
      @WarrenJulieTravel  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      When we planned our first trip it was 10 TL to the USD, it was around 13.5 most of our last trip and now 18.65. Prices keep changing but if you have foreign currency most of that fluctuation is not as noticeable.

    Liked the video, it is difficult getting a residency now and the prices are getting more expensive because of high inflation there.

    Just curious was it hard for you to take your dogs to turkey with you ? Did they fly in the cabin in their cages? Thank you

    • @WarrenJulieTravel

      We flew into Belgrade Serbia. At the time, they were both Small enough to go in the cabin and it was a direct flight. It wasn't difficult, but the paperwork was expensive and time consuming.

    Not a good time to buy real estate in Turkey. Turkish Lira is very overvalued. It will devalue like crazy in a year at most or even sooner. Central Bank has negative reserves as it fought to suppress the devaluation of the lira. Lira collapse is imminent

    • @soundslight7754
      @soundslight7754 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Do you earn in T. Lira?
      If you do, then it makes sense, but for those bringing their money from abroad, it's made little difference because property is priced in $

    • @WarrenJulieTravel
      @WarrenJulieTravel  ปีที่แล้ว

      Most properties are listed in $ € or £, the TL has gone from 10 to 18.65 in the last year, prices in TL have changed a lot but not as much when using another currency. I may be a little cautious where a lot of Russian or Ukrainians bought since there may be a bubble, which could pop when the war ends, if they may choose to sell and go home.

    The downsides of Fethiye 1. Customer service is the worst of the worst, I mean its beyond ridiculous. If you go looking for a shirt you have 6 people wanting to sell you, if you go looking for breakfast nothing is open, lunch the cooks are on their cellphones, dinner, you better have a few hours to wait in your chair to go through all the hoops to get the most simplest kinds of dinners. Personally I have given up and just go to the grocery stores. 2. They will charge you what they want in many places, always find out what the prices are. You can find non ripoffs, but the majority Ive found are ripoffs. 3. In Winter time its cold here.

    • @WarrenJulieTravel

      Good information.
      We do prefer Antalya, but Fethiye has some nice things about it too.

    • @rickmccann4016
      @rickmccann4016 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The natural beauty and history is worth the trip in both places, but this is me talking, the customer service is among the worst in the world. I seriously dont think they realize what they have left of an economy rests on their tourism income, but hey Im just passin thru. The food down here is nothing like the food in Istanbul (and cheap clothing) like two different counties, but Im glad I came, a lot of Christmas spots to visit : ).@@WarrenJulieTravel

      Open the full description, if I lead with Turkiye it’s not searched as often by English speakers, until the new name is adopted by more it’s disadvantageous for the video.
