BUYING BARGAIN PROPERTY IN TURKEY

  • Buying bargain property in Turkey is something we cover in this episode.
We show you apartments on the market at £35k just a thirty minute drive from Fethiye, a villa in walking distance from Calis beach, and stay watching until the end as we have an exclusive piece of real estate (on a Turkish Island) that is not so cheap, but has lots of potential for a great investment!
All the property has been chosen by ourselves from websites and we do not take any commission from the houses we feature.
They are purely to give you an idea and show you what to expect for your money in certain areas at the time of filming.
There are plenty of good real estate (emlak) agents in Turkey so be sure to shop around and remember, its always worth putting in a reduced offer when you find something you want to buy. Most agents are open to negotiation.
We also recommend you appoint a lawyer when purchasing a property.
CONTACTS for the property featured in this episode:

I love Turkey, it's culture and people's hospitality. Traveled to Bodrum in 2019 and 2020 and fell in love with it!
Now, for the first property, the pool water is GREEN! Not a good sign when they charge a maintenance fee!

Just a warning. Many of the properties currently being developed in Seydikemer are on land classified as agricultural, and therefore only has permission for agricultural buildings at very low density. A title deed in itself is not a guarantee of permission.
Also, the south part of Seydikemer has severe water shortage problems, which are getting worse with climate change. However, properties with swimming pools are still under construction.
Finally, check the boundaries of the National Park and the verious historic sites before you buy.

Hello Mick, thank you for the very practical and useful information. Could you confirm that you were able to continue to use your UK phone (the actual device) in Turkey? Did you need to register it and/or pay any taxes? (I understand you got a Turkish SIM card but I am interested in the actual device). Regards from Seattle, Pelin

A Turkish Sim card in a foreign phone will only last for so many months then it shut down unless you register it and pay the tax however I have a world contract with Vodafone from the UK on an English Sim card which I have now been using for two years

An idea that would help us in the US to understand the area. If you could show a map and point to the various cities or areas and explain the pros/cons of each. Range of property costs and availability of restaurants etc. Sort of a "summary" video maybe only spending a minute or so on each town, area or region. Would that be too big of a task? Is the area too vast?
