Hey again Rick! Had a quirky call on a walk in freezer the other day. Blocked drain caused the tray to fill with ice and a tiny bit of the TXV capillary was iced over tricking my valve to shut. Was a good brain teaser!
On the liebert PFH condensers i work on, the recievers have a sight glass with a ball in it. Liebert call for the ball to float to the middle or the top for a proper full charge. Im suprised other manufacturers dont do the same.
I do the same thing when I condemn and replace a valve with the thought the power head lost the charge. It’s so satisfying when you cut it and nothing comes out! lol. Great video and great diagnosis!
See if your company will get you the sporlan BQ kit. You can pretty much build almost any valve you need with it. Saves you time and gets the case back up and running a lot faster... Good luck leak checking tomorrow.
Great video check the TXV what l did first thing is pour hot water to see if it has moisture it will start feeding if not pull off TXV bulb to see if your pressure are changing if not change bulb .
Great video Rick. The Hussmans I work on you can take the TXVs apart to clean them which I have done a few times but the ZeroZones use Danfoss TXVs and you can’t take those apart which sucks because you just have to replace it. Good stuff as always!
Awesome video Rick! Lucky the line set is exposed most I’ve worked on is in the slab. Those old Hussman condensers that have the receiver on the bottom will have have a pressure relief on the back side of the receiver and will leak a lot being on high side. Keep up the good work brother!
@@HVACRSurvival I believe it is a 1/2 or 5/8 flare hard to see sometimes. I have found 2 or 3 when leak detection of cases turn up nothing. Once they start leaking they won’t stop. I’ve capped all mine with a flare cap. Good luck maybe another video.
I do not dis like my testo probes but, to love them, I'd need them to hold bluetooth for the rated distance. I'd take 60% of rated distance =b Ty for the great content.
I have Fieldpiece probes as well and yes, they do have better reception and they work better with measure quick but the testo do but they are smaller and testo has supported me with anything I want so I try to support them by showing their equipment being used. They’re definitely not perfect, but they do a pretty good job.
@HVACRSurvival agreed! I came into our industry doing mostly oil fired boilers, testo was my combustion analyzer and I'm trying to stick with them. Field piece is a calling though. Keep it up brother!
Love the videos! Been watching for a long time now and I find myself having to go watch old live videos cause I’m waiting for your new videos to come out!
You might want to check the compressor,if it is low pressure, because you put a HBP txv,and you might be over feeding the compressor, the extra refrigerant.meat display run at 28 deg.hope that helps.
It is hard to charge a unit with r134 to clear glass, when it is cold and the fans do not cycle, sometimes they will not clear, the frost pattern on evap and s/h should be good enough
I was concerned how much I had to add and the flow of the refrigerant looked slow. I will feel better once I remove it and weigh in, then I'll know what the total charge is.
charge it with the head pressure connected,if it is cold you might have to block condenser to bring head pressure up to clear sight glass.@@HVACRSurvival
How do you charge on a job like that? Is it a call out then hourly rate + parts etc,, or do you quote the job up front... i have stopped doing refrigeration due to the high cost of parts and gas and the constant arguments over price, i cant get it through to customers that they may have more than one problem and the price will change.. my favourite one is 'it just needs topping up' or the old ' it needs new gas' ??? Its a difficult field for small or one man companys, especially when the customer wont pay a call out and wants a cast in stone quote over the phone 😂 I think im better sticking to the other catering equipment like ovens and dishwashers, etc...😅
here a leak, there a leak, everywhere a leak leak.(probably). maybe the failed powerhead was leaking refrigerant out somehow or you fixed a leak playing with the txv initially?

It happens more often than you’d think.
those cases are clapped!
There should be a ball in the sight glass that float when there is some liquid. Or a color changing material, or something...

You obviously dont work on this bur, watch a different channel
@@josemartinez-jt6twwhy does someone need to watch another channel if they don't work on this stuff? That just hurts HVAC Survival lol
You got to love the bricks holding the condenser.

It's a great thing to not hear indeed
Cant really say anymore that i am amazed by your level of professionalism.
Heck ill say it anyway.😂
Can't wait for the next video.
Your to kind! Thanks for watching them!
Lot of generations of guys working on that stuff over the years. I would love to have seen it in person
Anytime you wan't to come to Ohio I'll hook you up Joey!
Love to watch all the oil come back after Txv clog.

Thanks! I should ask about it, they are picky about what they stock on the truck.
Nicely done as always Mr Rick.....a man of many talents....and a get er done spirit.
Thanks Jason!

Thanks Rick for sharing your work experiences with us !
Some good lookin equipment there 😅. Nice job Rick!
Nothing but the best for me 🤣 NOT!
A small leak started last April. It shows up now because colder outside temps require more refrigerant to be backed up in the condenser. Good luck.
Great job Rick
Great video. I like to see what can be done with the old cranky stuff.
Feliz Navidad y Ano Nuevo HERMANO!!!! Hope this year gets better for us all………
Gracias 🙏

That might be where it went then. I was told the condenser fans failed twice. I will be checking for oil at the pop off, I didn't see them.

I'm not good at matching the txvs, thats why I had our top guy do it. If it's wrong then I would hope he would of caught it.
You do awesome work enjoy your videos learn something new on each video thanks

I don't understand what modification your talking about.?
you replaced txv from low to a +50 to -10 txv.@@HVACRSurvival

You had Chris's hat on that shelf, or i saw something similar? 😂

Hourly plus parts unless they want it quoted. Then it’s wherever time I think it will take and the office calculates it out.
Call the health dept. on that crappy place lol
What brand is that blue marker you always use?
Uni-paint
What are those holes on the flare nut on the txv? Black dots ?
Helps keep the moister out of the nut so it doesn't crack I believe.
@@HVACRSurvival did not know that. Thanks Rick !
Fantastic video thanks has tooth pick bob been commenting
I haven't heard of him. lol
you could be able to change powerhead easy.
OK, Explain how you would do it and why you would want to warranty it for free if it failed in a year after the repair?
If you already clean filter and pin it would work Great. Powerhead most of time is issue when it lose charge and slammed closed. You did good
@@HVACRSurvival I work for supermarket refrigeration with racks
I've seen worse, but that store is nasty!

I think when the condenser fans went out that it may have blown its load through the relief valve.
check that all txv's are the same.
Similar build but they work the same
that they are 43 fzp power heads, low temp.@@HVACRSurvival
