    This is one of the best piston installs I've seen on this platform. I have a 97 civic HX and with the prices of B series/K series swaps I'm thinking of just building a D series from the bottom up. (Swapping the head of my d16y5 with a z6, most likely.) Then send it on maybe around 12psi of boost and go from there. Can still make decent power on these single cams, so I've been told. Great video man!

    Difference in running the 75mm and the 75.5mm im hearing u get piston slap with 75 till it warms up but not with 75.5 did u experience any of this

    Nice build bro this setup is nice I' have this no notch set up and its pulls hard on 15psi. Might build another block soon these rods and pistons where like 430$ not that long ago.

    Could I use the no notch speed factory rods with the vitara piston set from speed factory for a all motor build on my d16y8

    • @BarbasLife
      @BarbasLife  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can use the rods but you need high compression pistons for all motor. Vitara pistons are low compression more than normal.

    • @ulisesaranda4816
      @ulisesaranda4816 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Any less expensive rods I can get online beside the speedfactory rods?

    • @BarbasLife
      @BarbasLife  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ulisesaranda4816 yeah but check out jamesDguys channel he has a high compression d16 he built step by step with pistons and rods combo on a budget. It's a good build he did.

    • @BarbasLife
      @BarbasLife  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Its really hard to put power naturally on d16 it can be done people have gotta 220hp but takes a lot of money to build. You can make 200hp safe on turbo no more than that without problems.

      VITARA pistons are made backwards so you gotta put them facing the other way otherwise you will choke your engine

  • @hondad-series9265
    @hondad-series9265 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Why did you number the rods

    • @BarbasLife
      @BarbasLife  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thats the way they teached me to assemble these engines back in 2000s its so you dont mix up the rod caps incase if for some reason theres more than one rod cap laying around you dont mix em. they are all different if you mix one with another rod cap you run the risk of blowing the engine. Example rod 1 and rod 3 look the same they are supposed to be the same but they are not so if i was to mix them the engine would run bad out of balance sometimes the rod caps won't even clamp to the crank. if you watch boosted boys go back 2 videos they just talked about how bad it would be to mix the rod caps up. Hope this makes sence brother.

      I am building a d16 same build my first time building a engine I was wondering if the Pistons are different Piston 1,2,3,4 how do you know the difference of the Pistons I'm getting lost and rods all the pistons and rods to look the same

    • @BarbasLife
      @BarbasLife  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Ok so when you order rods that are bran new they look the same they are supposed to be the same but they are not so you have to make sure which ever rod you choose to put in (example)cylinder 2 you use the same rod cap.so basically every rod is cut different even tho you cant see it. The cap is cut cut at the same same time as the rod so keep em together. Kinda when you disassemble and re-use the used pistons n rods they have to go in the same cylinder they came out of or it will be screwed up.

    • @BarbasLife
      @BarbasLife  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      So when you order your new rods choose any of em for a cylinder and make sure that rod and rod cap only goes to that cyclinder you choose.

    So... I have heard some bad things about the block guards. Is there a better cheap way to do this? Or is a block guard fine
    I am building my engine for street use

    • @BarbasLife
      @BarbasLife  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      So my build is for street use I have heard bad things too mostly about overheating problems.I have never had a problem but I would put one if your trying to make over 220hp. I would rather have a overheating problem then have my cylinder sleves rocking and cracking.

    You need this same part from eBay, an engine block with a capacity of 500 hp and a garden - a piston that has a capacity of 500 hp

    Did you take the block to a machine shop to be honed? If not what size piston are they?

    • @BarbasLife
      @BarbasLife  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No i honed it out myself everything is on my videos I ordered 75mm std vitara pistons. A lot of people go with 75.5 so they wont have that loud piston slap but it doesn't matter to me the extra noise dont it bother me.

      your right they are backwards IF ITS A REGULAR
      RE-BUILD. this is a ViTARA build the ports for the intake and exhaust are made backwards so you are forced to face the arrows in the wrong direction on purpose so the ports can be correct. not my first rodeo been playing with d16 for 19 years oh by the way lmao and thank you. heres some knowledge www.speedfactoryracing.net/ycp-vitara-pistons-with-rings-for-sohc-civic
