I literally know nothing about cars and this was super informative. The mechanic who did my oil change was trying to charge me an insane amount to change these filters!
Thanks for this. I remember when it was a ton easier on earlier model year vehicle and the mechanic wanted to charge me $50 to change this when I did it half the price. Took all but 3 minutes, 5 minutes when going slow
Thank you for making it possible for me to replace the engine air filter on my wife's Jeep. What a PITA! The screws heads are not located in easy access areas and locations are tight. I sliced a finger in the process but still felt good knowing how much I saved by doing it myself! : )
You are very welcome! Yea it is a pain to change that filter. Not sure why they did it that way. Very tough to get your hands down into the engine bay to get the screws out without dropping them. I've gotten my share of battle scars from the Jeep as well lol
Mine did break, so that’s important for sure. What is “that guy” small diameter hose that comes into the side of the air filter box? It appears that there was some adhesive connecting the hose to the side of the filter box and mine got brittle and cracked off
Thanks Alex, great video! Easier for me because jiffy lube didn’t replace 3 of the housing screws. So much easier, cheaper and better quality to do it all myself. Plus can use the savings on better quality parts😁
The filter came out with the pleats running vertically. You initially show installing the new filter with the pleats horizontal and then there is a brief image of the pleats oriented vertically when you push it in. I presume the pleats should be oriented vertically to prevent the fabric sagging from gravity but you don't mention that?
Yea I’m like should I insert it horizontal? If you do it doesn’t let you put the cover on. I installed it vertically and it did fit like a glove. Mine was wet too with a bit of mold. Bad design?
Wow, what a pain to change engine filter. The engineer who designed it, probably never changed one. Wifes Toyota has 4 clips you pop, lift the cover off, change it and re-clip it.

FYI you dont have to remove the bolts on the airbox. Just loosen them. Done it many times.

Years ago spin off wing nut over air filter housing. Switch filters. 30 seconds. Done. I'm just sayin".
On that engine air filter box, @ 6:12 thats the guy I wanted to know how to pop off without breaking it, you should've shown how it's done............
Sorry, I will try to show it on another video. I'll have more Jeep videos coming.

Glad it helped! Those screws are tricky to get in/out without dropping them.
Thank you!
John Bailey you’re very welcome

I totally agree.
Looks like the new one is slightly BIGGER..??
No they were the same size.
clean your fn floor mats
Dennis Burd you can feel free to come clean them if they bother you. I have a long dirt driveway, they’re always dirty.
