Have to say. As much as I love the old style of the show. I have to say I hope in the future these types will still happen every once in a while. Josie makes it more entertaining with her reactions.
In all seriousness, the modern rogue is really cool because they investigate a topic or bring someone in the knows about it, attemp to do whatever it is and even if they fail the guys look like they have a lot of fun.
he kept rubbing his finger and thumb together before the chosen object and I was like "ha, I spotted it." then he had her close her eyes and I realized that he got me
I swore it was the number 4.after the first one.they were all on #4 i think.after 8 being the 1st one. Josie seems like the type of girl to walk in middle school with a leather on.wearing jean paul Gautier .and being the cool girl in school
B: "I won't even talk this time, Jose Silence yourself!" J: B: "I'm the one who can't talk, you can talk She's right, if she is Silenced, or Silent, she isn't supposed to talk.
Knowing Brian since scam school since like the first 300 episodes and seeing what a wholesome soul he is makes me happy to see what a beautiful family and relationship he has with his daughter
How many Brushwoods are needed to break Uncle Jasons Mind? Right Answere! It isn't important how many Brushwoods are needed, it is only important how much Whiskey Jason drank.
I don’t remember this effect but after the second one I figured out it was the “object after a black item” thing. Cuz after Josie got the sharpie I was like hmm ok the pink gun and black sharpie have virtually nothing in common, buuuttt both the tape and the matches are black so that might be the code. And sure enough it was solidified the more items they did
The good old Black magic code!! I learned this from you a couple years ago Brian! This turned into a family game of guess the method at family/ friend gatherings. My brother and I would do this and they would try and guess the method and they could place restrictions on us (no speaking, no looking, etc) We were a little evil tho because one of our cousins guessed correctly (we suspected her of looking up the method though) so after she "guessed the method" we changed the code to the object after something blue.
I was wrong with my guess, but I think it would work anyway: Have josie give 'approved beforehand' negative responses, "Nope" / "no" / "noooope", to everything, then when *Josie* is ready, she says something not on the list "Nuhuh" / *head shake*", then Brian knows to point to the target object next. Jason is so focused on Brian's tells, they don't pay any attention to Josie's.
done something similar with a deck of cards and only using ten of them, set them up exactly how the suits are set up on the 10 card, your cohort then leaves the room and you "victim" picks a card from those ten. when your accomplice returns you point at cards and the part of the card you point at would correspond with the card your victim picked
I had some friends do this for me about a decade ago and I figured it out (after like an hour) but then forgot years later when I was shown it again! I have never been more frustrated in my life than knowing I had figured it once but couldn't remember or figure it out again.
I know a similar trick, in which some people from the audience are playing along. put 9 cards in a square let someone point to a card. the people who know the trick are on their phones and point to either the corners, sides or the middle of there phone that way you know which card is selected.
I once spent an entire evening at a cabin weekend trying to figure this one out. We finally got it by restricting the selected items to a set of colored markers.
This gave me a flashback to something I did when I was like 10. I left the rooms for most of it, but had my cousin touch her wristband when the correct answer was uttered. I think i had everyone going for a while, but was caught eventually. Should have quit while I was ahead.
I remember in 3rd grade I was taught this trick by a classmate's visiting parent and it was really fun. When I moved to another school in 4th grade, I tried asking to play this game by its name. The teacher sent me to the principal because she was superstitious and was scared of calling it "Black Magic." That school in general was pretty superstitious because several kids got sent home because of the Charlie Charlie pencil game.
I always do this as a game with a bunch of people where you tell everyone it’s called black magic, then if no one else has played before, you teach one other person the secret, then do it over and over until everyone slowly figures it out for themselves
My friend and I used to do this all the time to mess with people in the restaurant we worked at. Several people were convinced we had psychic abilities. We elaborated on this (since our objects were largely fixed in place) and had 2-3 objects that if someone chose one of those (Imagine a clock on the wall) then we could call out that object first and have it guessed on the first try. If they called out the clock and we didn't want to guess it first try, we would put it afterwards. Just a way to mix it up a bit and seem even more savvy.
Brian is “stuck at home,” and now just needs to “stick” with his daughter. 🤔 I think this is just an excuse to geek out about magic and revert Josie to the cult of magicka. 😹😹 Also, I thought that Jason wasn’t into magic. Cuz he would always have other people perform the trick. Did magic just grow on him, or he loves Josie that much? 🥰 Also Jason, “Get lost. I’m here now.” 😹😹
Dont know if this would work, but you can have a version of this where since Jason isnt looking at Josie, because he thinks you're communicating to her so hes looking at you, she could give a mark, like move her hand or clench he jaw or something, and then thats her mark to you, and you point at Jason's thing next, that way she knows its the thing because she basically told you to make it the thing
Such a great video Brian. Your daughter is funny and cut, you should be so proud. I always love to try and find out how the trick is done but not this time.
When we were kids, my friend and I used to show this trick of "Black Magic" xD. We had our own code and it was so fun watching people not know how we were doing it LOL
1:31 *"JOSIE!"* _"oh! ok..."_ XD that was too fucking funny for some reason EDIT: 2:26 *"DID YOU CHEAT!"* "uh?..." _"ok, nevermind..."_ 3:16 *"JOSIE!"* *"WHAT!?"* All of these interactions were so funny XD
This game can be stretched out in a large group by making people 'get' it one by one. You have to somehow communicate that if somebody gets the method, they don't blurt out the answer but instead they get to a have a go being the psychic.
Glad to see my recommendation is shown! I've got the same shirt, and a flag with the same design on it, as well as a few other things from texashumor.com. Good stuff on there, keep it up Brian!
I have the black magic link with Jason, for I had guessed he would picked all his objects. ... Also I have read his mind and discovered he doesn't hasn't watched Sam Nation since it's conception on Revision 3 as Scam School
I am from India and I watched your show 'Hacking the system' in National geographic channel. And I love it!. I like you to. And you are amazing man! Please reply me
It would work even better if you memorized a sequence of precursors, so the first guess is after that color, second guess is after another color, etc. To make it harder to discover the trick.
I thought for sure it had something to do with the way that Josie responded. Like, the first object would always be wrong, and Josie would say no. Eventually, Josie would say no is a slightly different way, signaling she was ready for the right object, and Brian would give it to her. Couldn't figure out what Josie was doing differently, though. Turns out she wasn't. lol
I knew this one already. I forget where I learned it. Wouldn't guessing with your eyes closed make it significantly more difficult because you'd have to memorize everything that's black?
I did this with my instructional assistant and my students were the audience. I made a big deal, calling it BLACK Magic. I got more and more obvious as it went on.
I remember my friends tormenting me on the bus with this until I got it. I hated it so much. Thanks for teaching another generation how to do this, lol
I'm thinking that it's the first round I will ask is it this one and I will ask if it's his object on the 8th then the second it will be the 3rd then the 3rd if will be the 15th...
Have to say. As much as I love the old style of the show. I have to say I hope in the future these types will still happen every once in a while. Josie makes it more entertaining with her reactions.
I know a girl named Josie Brushwood that looks like Josie
It's like having a second Brian
Pretty soon it will be Josie on Modern Rogue too.
She and her sisters actually do have a spot in an upcoming Modern Rogue haha
@@BryceCastillo just keep them all safe LOL!
And it will start with the line: "Don't tell Mom."
In all seriousness, the modern rogue is really cool because they investigate a topic or bring someone in the knows about it, attemp to do whatever it is and even if they fail the guys look like they have a lot of fun.
Josie is the Modern Rogue
he kept rubbing his finger and thumb together before the chosen object and I was like "ha, I spotted it." then he had her close her eyes and I realized that he got me
Insert Dave Chappelle ** GOTCHA B!TCH 😂
I swore it was the number 4.after the first one.they were all on #4 i think.after 8 being the 1st one. Josie seems like the type of girl to walk in middle school with a leather on.wearing jean paul Gautier .and being the cool girl in school
i thought exactly the sae thing. I thought i had it figurd as everyone would be looking at him not his hands. But i was wrong
I remember this episode from Scam School... 'Black' Magic
Here is that very episode th-cam.com/video/P2lNcSvl_EI/w-d-xo.html Scam school was amazing by the way.
I remember them already doing this episode.
To be politically correct, African American magic
so youre saying this is a "Scam School REMIX"?
Oooooh an og ;)
B: "I won't even talk this time, Jose Silence yourself!"
J:
B: "I'm the one who can't talk, you can talk
She's right, if she is Silenced, or Silent, she isn't supposed to talk.
I've also come across it as the object after you mentioned a colour, but this way is more powerful as it allows for both the silent and blind versions
Knowing Brian since scam school since like the first 300 episodes and seeing what a wholesome soul he is makes me happy to see what a beautiful family and relationship he has with his daughter
I love this code. I think it's even better when you use random things in the space you are in rather than an assorted table of things.
Dude, I predicted he'd pick the pink gun, and he did! I have the bond as well!!!
How many Brushwoods are needed to break Uncle Jasons Mind?
Right Answere!
It isn't important how many Brushwoods are needed, it is only important how much Whiskey Jason drank.

Love the early access for THE DISCORD SQUAD!!!!
I enjoyed my phone notification just having "Teaching Jason to Read..."

Oh yes. I’ve been doing Black Magic with my grandpa since I was four. Such a fun trick.
The Josie/Jason collab is so bubbly and fun. Just three lovely people :)
I was wrong with my guess, but I think it would work anyway:

I used to play this game when I was a kid. I've never thought of doing it without speaking, or with your eyes closed. That was a great variation.
I was also fooled by this one, great trick! And it was fun having Jason here too for the episode!
I had some friends do this for me about a decade ago and I figured it out (after like an hour) but then forgot years later when I was shown it again! I have never been more frustrated in my life than knowing I had figured it once but couldn't remember or figure it out again.
I love the ones you can do by yourself, like "green glass door" and "is it a wombat"
She's like a minion when she's guessing. Like Igor for the Brushwood Frankenstein.
Fantastic to see you guys have fun!! Loving the trio dynamic
Finally a classic. Brushwood, jason and some random dude
I know a similar trick, in which some people from the audience are playing along. put 9 cards in a square

More of Josie scamming Murphy, please.

Josie is now confirmed co-host... When the bars finally reopen, Josie's going to have to get a fake ID.
I always do this as a game with a bunch of people where you tell everyone it’s called black magic, then if no one else has played before, you teach one other person the secret, then do it over and over until everyone slowly figures it out for themselves
We used to play this out field in the army and mess with young blokes for weeks who would have no idea wtf was going on
We finally get an episode with Jason!
Holy crap we use this one as a mind teaser during our ice-breaker activities at university!! I love these
Brian is “stuck at home,” and now just needs to “stick” with his daughter.
🤔 I think this is just an excuse to geek out about magic and revert Josie to the cult of magicka. 😹😹 Also, I thought that Jason wasn’t into magic. Cuz he would always have other people perform the trick. Did magic just grow on him, or he loves Josie that much? 🥰
Also Jason, “Get lost. I’m here now.” 😹😹
This format works really well. You should bring on more guests with josie.
i love this format... Josie's like half the fun!
i wonder if this could be adapted into a card trick, like the card selected is always after a certain number or suit
Absolutely. It requires a stacked deck, but I've seen plenty of tricks like that.
Jason in da flesh!
Jason knows who the heart of Scam Nation is now.
Brian, Jason and Josie are a team too powerful for the internet.
5:21 Jason looks like he's about to murder everyone in that studio
I am lucky to have Brent Braun as a friend and he gifted me the green X back cards. I am also a huge Brushwood fan. No C in Shwood!
1:31 *"JOSIE!"*
_"oh! ok..."_
XD that was too fucking funny for some reason
EDIT:
2:26 *"DID YOU CHEAT!"*
"uh?..."
_"ok, nevermind..."_
3:16 *"JOSIE!"*
*"WHAT!?"*
All of these interactions were so funny XD
This is such an amazing video.
What about having an episode with Josie and Murphy in Modern Rogue? That would be amazing
We used to play black magic when I was a kid 😂
OMG .. Josie AND Jason?! awesome episode
So sad they took out the SCAM part😢🤣😢🤣
Brian: OH GREAT JASON WHICH ITEM THOU ART CHOOSE GREAT ONE😂😂😂
I’m glad Brian’s mustache is gone, or was that lamb chops? Either way, 70s Schwood will not be missed 😂
Paused at 3:54. I'm guessing it is whatever comes after the first black object that's pointed to.
This game can be stretched out in a large group by making people 'get' it one by one. You have to somehow communicate that if somebody gets the method, they don't blurt out the answer but instead they get to a have a go being the psychic.
Discord SQUAD!!!!
SCARY!!!!!! I picked the pink gun too!!!! aaarrrggghhhhh Youre a Wizard!!! lol
Omg that one fooled me up until halfway through the advertisement when i realized *bleep* or something similar might be the answer
Everytime my mom asks me what I’m watching: “oh just some scam nation”
I was really hoping when Brian whipped out the pomade for the ad break that he was gonna spike up his hair
Glad to see my recommendation is shown! I've got the same shirt, and a flag with the same design on it, as well as a few other things from texashumor.com. Good stuff on there, keep it up Brian!
I have the black magic link with Jason, for I had guessed he would picked all his objects. ...

We would do the same game at camp. It was really fun as they all began to figure it out.
It would work even better if you memorized a sequence of precursors, so the first guess is after that color, second guess is after another color, etc. To make it harder to discover the trick.
Awesome trick. Thanks for sharing. I want to do this
9:17 I cant stop laughing
All time favourite smartwatch - Pebble.
Turns out she wasn't. lol
Hey Brian, i just saw your show, life hacks, it was really awesome.
Never been this early before, love what you’ve been doing these past few weeks.keep it up 😁
Sixteen polar bear, and six of them are fishing. ^^
This is a good one, I'm gonna stick this in my pocket for later.
I'm psychic too. I predicted Jason would pick the pink gun too. Scout's honor.
I predicted the head too. :-)
I almost predicted the radio. :-)
I knew this one already. I forget where I learned it.
Wouldn't guessing with your eyes closed make it significantly more difficult because you'd have to memorize everything that's black?
Hello fellow DISCORD SQUAD!
I was fooled, good one
I did this with my instructional assistant and my students were the audience. I made a big deal, calling it BLACK Magic. I got more and more obvious as it went on.
I was watching scam school and it comes a notification for a new episode 😂😂👌
This is such an old trick but im glad it's back.
Next episode should be all 3 going to rageselect to ridicule Jeff while he plays hard games and Chanting "Jeff cant close, Jeff cant close!"
3:15 Now start playing footsie with him just to mess with him.
This trio works well on camera
I remember my friends tormenting me on the bus with this until I got it. I hated it so much. Thanks for teaching another generation how to do this, lol
The Josie Show is a lot of fun!!!
I learned a card trick like this from tom mullica where you need a helper and you point to a part of the card that only you both know
The moment i saw the messed up table i knew it's the "object after a black one" trick
man, Jason looks so confused after the eyes closed part
DISCORD SQUAD AYYYYYY
Jason, don't you even dare try to replace Josie, you're lucky you can come on as a guest from time to time
You should do video with Josie of kid friendly "uncle" tricks once a month or so.
Josie better still be in episodes once quarantine is over.
keep the videos with josie going love them!
*Brian* Like a dragonball thing?
*still Brian* yeah that's awesome
I like it better with your Josie than the bar scene.
I'm thinking that it's the first round I will ask is it this one and I will ask if it's his object on the 8th then the second it will be the 3rd then the 3rd if will be the 15th...
Weird, this video didn't show up in my notifications...
i remember this from a few yers ago
so good
