I thought the whole part where Brian messed up, was a cruel joke to offer her more money, so when he got it right the second time, she couldn’t get out of doing the dishes.
But doesn't that negate the whole concept of double or NOTHING. No dishes done. No money changes hands. Back to "nothing" happened.
@@TheGodOfAllThatWas well, no. Brian believed he’d win regardless. My thought was, he reeled her in with more money, on the second try, to do all the dishes whenever he asked, after he convinced Josie, that he could lose. Albeit, he didn’t try to lose, so my thought process is irrelevant, and it would also make Brian a real scoundrel. Lol

I was expecting Josie to offer up half the money to Jason up front to throw the trick. That's what I would have done as soon as Jason was used as a "check".

Of course, when you're doing this for drinks at the bar, the flub in the first go-round can be a "flub," that draws the mark into a double or nothing wager... which is then, of course, nailed.
But if it's double or nothing, then you just end up breaking even.
One thing you can do to make it more convincing is: pretend to read Person1's mind, then P2, and then say "Oh, you guys are trying to trick me, I'm getting mixed signs! You cheaters, one of you is lying!" and then pretend to read P1 mind again, only this time "you're completely sure where the penny is". That's gonna make them a little confused and there's no way that P1 would know if P2 was trying to throw you off by thinking of a different beer-cap-thing... It's gonna make you seem like a wayyyy more serious magician than you actually are... And it further sells the idea that P2 might actively be trying to sabotage your trick, making it impossible for them to "be working with you".
Someone start a petition to make Josie a permanent part of Scam Nation. I can't put my scam on it but she just brings something extra to the Killer Candy. What is it? Sweetness maybe? Extra large comedy? Locked door? I don't know but make her a permanent part of the Scam.

At first I thought this said "drain their minds with a psychic turkey" and I briefly thought you were talking about that trick where you use a turkey baster to get water out of your ear.
I think the mistake followed by the double-or-nothing is an excellent way to get someone much more interested and very "invested" in how it turns out! This is one I knew from the start. I've used it a bit, too. Still... LOVE the channel and very cool to see Josie getting in on these. Keep it up!!!
I love how Jason title grows longer every year
Helped a friend with a similar method, instead of using a 'temple jaw clench count' I had my hand on the table and strummed the amount of fingers on it to tell the mentalist where the coin was. If it was in the 5th slot, I didn't move my hand or removed it from the table.
Ohhh! I thought the double or nothing was on purpose to scam a rube 😂 You are such a good showman! But Josie is smart - if this wasn't a video, I'm pretty sure she would have left the table with her winnings after Round 1.

@@buurbagturd3539 The term "confederate" means someone who is conspiring with someone else, or in allegiance against the greater group (and can also be used as a verb, "Jason and Brian confederated to trick Josie.")
The American Confederacy was a self-titled group of states who wanted to succeed. The term confederate came before the attempted succession and general association with the term for the Southern army.

I've been watching enough Scam Nation to know that Jason was in on it! I even saw his jaw clenching during the "mind reading" parts! Nice trick i'll try this one out.
I figured this one out before it was explained. I saw his ear move once the first time and knew he was clenching. Also blinking could could do the same thing since your hands are covering the eyes except to you

That reminds me when I screwed up my first performance on a comic convention. It was as spectacular as this but once with a key and the other with cards. To bombs on the same day! What a way to start a carrier.

Her first guess on how the trick was done is equally valid, even though you couldn't really do that one with an audience. But 2-on-1 like in the video, she nailed a method that would have worked just as well.

Another way to indicate it is by blinking. Brian's hands are blocking Josie's view of Jason's eyes, so he could just blink the right number of times.
My guess: Jason blinks n times, where n is the the bottle cap number from 1 (closes to Brian) to 5 (farthest from Brian).
That was my guess, the hand placement would've been great for it
One of these days, I hope Josie goes online or to the library and checks out some books and finds one of those takes on a magic trick that Brian doesn't know about. It'd be nifty if she were to turn the tables and teach him a new rendition of an old trick he might not understand fully, or might think it's one trick when it's actually a different one.
It'd blow his mind and he'd be so proud.

Fooled me; I thought Jason was blinking when his face was hidden by Brian's hands. But the real lesson for Josie wasn't the trick, it was to learn that the answer to "double or nothing?" should always be "nah, I'll keep the cash I've already won."

Tbh we got a good side view of the "mind reading", it wasnt that difficult to figure out after we saw that, but without out of the box thinking or just witnessing the cheating, its impossible to tell.

My first thought on how it works is your friend blinks for the placement
First one you should have agreed to putting away the dishes, on the double or nothing you add back the washing dishes. It makes it seem even more fair.
I'm gonna be honest, for a trick like this, especially when framed as a bet, I would rather go straight for the one signalled to me instead of the whole "not this one, not this one, etc." Because it opens too much wiggle room for them to say "you didn't read my mind" or "you got it wrong" after the first one if you don't make it 100% clear that you are eliminating the wrong choices or if they don't hear the not or whatever, and then if you try to correct them they think you're backpedaling and trying to cover a screw up. I find the misses or process of elimination is great for a lot of tricks, especially card tricks, but for something like this, the effect is stronger when you get straight to the reveal
Josie is going to be a force to be reckoned with come school year 21-22. I'm happy to have gotten this one, but her arsenal is going to be magnitudes beyond mine in....yeah now.
Since the hand hides the eyes of accomplices, you can add a few blinks to locate the coordinates on a 5 * 5 array.

I knew Jason was in on it i just couldnt work out how. 1st i thought he took a drink when your hand was over the coin but the 2nd time he didnt
As soon as Jason was in the video I knew he was in on it and I watched for clues of how they were communicating. At first I thought it was when he took a drink from his glass, but he didn't do that on the second attempt. Then I thought maybe there was some blinking or something while Brian's hands were on his face obscuring the view, but Brian closed his eyes on the second attempt to read his mind so I was all sorts of stumped.
Now that’s a good code
