I have scrapped 14 vessels in South Africa, mostly fishing vessels between 800 & 2000 tons. We take a lot longer, but separate the ferous & non ferous metals as well as the wood & insulation & can still turn a reasonable profit, while providing work opportunities. We could do much better if our steel prices weren't so heavily regulated.
Very informative though heart breaking n emotional video ? Watching a ship disintergrate into scrap metal ? A mother that served for at least 20 years or more to sustain the livelihood of many officers n crew members n their families ?
Better scrapped after 20 years than take 30+ mother's sons to the bottom because of metal fatigue and corrosion. Look up El Faro, Marine Electric and Derbyshire.
weird how that dry dock works. holding back the water where the ship moored while cleaning up the skeleton of the old ship. truck conveyor instead of a belt or something would have been more effective.
This documentary is well made in that it captured major stages of progress, clear and concise.

Might add to the cost a bit, but much better than when they run the ship up on the beach and pollute everything around them.
In one year, a video like this can have millions of views, mark my word

Nice video, thanks for sharing
Great way no pollution of beaches and sea and not far to cart the scrap straight in to a waiting ship
