  • Vietnam is changing at a breakneck speed. But who’s keeping its rich food culture alive?
The women of Hanoi are the ones feeding a transforming nation and preserving its past.
Joi Lee and HyoJin Park go to Hanoi in the third episode of Fork the System to ask how food can root a nation’s identity in the face of rapid change.

I like everything about this except the rabid feminism. Here’s an idea: Vietnamese males also cooked throughout Vietnam’s history and played a role in preserving its identity. To suggest that it was only women who heroically saved the country from starvation is historical genocide.
