    Bravo! I ran across your page when you were finishing up the hull and became addicted to your level of historical accuracy. Now that it is almost completed, it is truly a work of art. I may have to go back and watch the episodes from the very beginning that I have missed. Thank you for making the titanic come alive.

    Amazing work!
    Little thing I've done is paint the base of the funnels in matt, and the tops in satin. That picture of Mauretania illustrates this perfectly in my opinion.
    I always think of high shiny hats, when I see the funnel tops.
    Keep on cracking on!

      Yes I see what you mean on the Mauritania, the red sections of her funnels look remarkably matt in comparison to the tops dont they.
      Thanks you for the comment! I shall indeed keep cracking on

    I love how the choice of the satin finish on the funnels also works to scale the smoke as well.

    • @TheModelBoatGuy
      @TheModelBoatGuy  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you. The smoke is a weird one, it does look a bit out of scale, it seems to look better if it’s pushed out with a bit more power. I suspect that outside the smoke light disappear into the wind but we shall see!

      @@TheModelBoatGuy Like you've mentioned before, it is difficult to make physics visually match the model, but with the 200 scale and the system you have now, the lighting and smoke look great, and the paint job makes it pop that wee bit more.

    The colour and sheen of your funnels look perfect Robbie. Also thank you for pointing out the role of the 4th funnel. In my opinion it had just as important role as the other funnels. Ventilation! Passengers need to breath.
    Also the lighting effect towards the bridge is great. Nice job there.
    Another great and informative video Robbie 😊

      Thanks Neil, yeah I always feel funnel 4 gets a raw deal! Thanks for your comment, im quite happy with the buff colour now, after a long old time. Hope you’re doing ok!

    Just want to say? "Crack on!". I have been building all sorts of scale models for a long time. (Scale airplanes, cars, model R/R, etc). Your skills are impressive. I've already learned techniques from you. Oh, and I'm in the States (Los Angeles) so, no worries about me running over to your flat! I joke....

    Awesome work! It’s great to see her steaming and lit up after all that effort.
    The port and starboard navigation lights and beam deflectors work brilliantly, but iirc Titanic would also have had white navigation lights on the forward masthead and the stern rail (just below the flag staff).
    (I couldn’t create anything as good as this in my wildest dreams, but you’ve stressed accuracy so many times in this series that I thought I should mention them.)

      Hi there, thank you for the comment.
      Yeah I need to get on with the other nav lights, I do intend to do them, just haven’t got round to it yet (or quite worked out how I’m going to do them)!

    Hey Robbie, I hope you can see this question and help me figure this out: how did you know what ladders from the KA upgrade go on what funnell? I have searched and searched the instructions but for the life of me I couldn't find any indication on how to use the PE on sheet O in the Ka set, or how to put together the gantry/platforms (which thankfully you show here). So THANK YOU SO MUCH for this and all of your incredible videos, you have helped me and many more than we can say, and thanks in advance if you will be able to reply...

    • @TheModelBoatGuy
      @TheModelBoatGuy  ปีที่แล้ว

      I believe the info is on the bottom of sheet 15. Though annoyingly it’s not very clear as the trumpeter funnels arnt quite right (and of course the instructions are designed for the trumpeter kit).
      I would just cut them out, and see which ladder looks best suited to each funnel… I think 2 are the same length, and the other two are different, so you’ll probably find they match with a specific funnel quote well

    You haven't done a float test in a while, are you still planning on using her as an rc ship?
    With all those upper decks nearing completion, don't you think she'll start to get top heavy?

    • @TheModelBoatGuy
      @TheModelBoatGuy  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi there,
      There’s been a hose pipe ban in my area which hasn’t been lifted yet. I felt that filling a bath to its limit just to float a model boat was probably not a great use of water so i haven’t done it yet! Hopefully once the ban is lifted I’ll be able to get cracking on that.
      I will give it a sail once, I’m relatively confident I can get the ballast correct as I have done some calculations on weight before, but there are always alternatives if I’ve got the maths wrong. I.E. a big keel (unsightly yes but beneath the water and so relatively unobtrusive)! I think though, I won’t sail this often, it’s too detailed and too delicate for regular use.

    Are you going to recreate a couple of famous photos of the ship? Man standing atop fourth funnel, and boy playing with a spinning top with two older gentlemen? Just to name the few that exists. Just curious. It’s looking fantastic btw🙂

    Excellent work as always. Quick question if I may Robbie, what made you want to display the model from the port side? Everyone is different I suppose but imho the Titanic is a much better looking ship from the starboard view. The Gymnasium and Cafe Parisien window arrangement just look more appealing.

    • @TheModelBoatGuy
      @TheModelBoatGuy  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Well to be honest I will probably swap it around a bit.
      For now it’s port side because I wanted to see the reading and writing rooms, but I can move the case on the shelf and see the starboard side from time to time too!

    There seem to bee a fair bit of light in the forward well deck. Would that not have affected the Bridge crew's night vision looking forward? Hard to see an iceberg in the dark .

    • @TheModelBoatGuy
