- Hi everyone! I get a lot of questions about how I create a perfume formula so I thought I would make a video on just that. In this video I focus on how to write a perfume formula. I go into specifics on how to use percentages to create the batch size you want. I also share the formula with you in the video. Please give this video a thumbs up, leave a comment or question and subscribe to my channel! This all really helps me to keep doing what I am doing. These are the most informative videos on perfume making I have found...I really feel I can go make perfumes now!
Great video, very detailed and understandable thanx a lot It was meant for me to click on this video. Got the info I needed 😊
Really enjoyed your video I found it very helpful. I would love to see you do one where you demonstrate how to make a spray alcohol-based perfume such as an eau de parfum since there's so much contradiction on how to blend alcohol-based perfumes. Also it would be really cool to watch a video that explains exactly how to make large batches from a blend that you know you like and have been storing the concentrated formula for six weeks🤔
Thank l you! You may find it helpful to watch my perfume making video when I used the Makesy perfume kit. I go over how to scale up.
THANK YOU so much for this video. You did an amazing job at explaining the measurements.
❤Thank you for sharing this lovely video. I'm excited to start making my own perfume.
Amazing tutorial and great channel of diys!❤
Thank you for sharing. Be Blessed.❤
Where do you print your custom labels? Amazing job and explaining. Thank you.
Good Video 👍🏻
Excellent Explanations 👍🏻
You took the Mystery out of this formulation...
Do you have any videos on making iso E super or molecule 1?
Thank you for sharing and I'm definitely going to try this.❤
Just one more thing im in the UK and what can I use instead of fixative
Thank you so much your formula is very helpful. Glad I came across this video very insightful.
Sounds like a great scent combo!
Thank you!
Plz specify what is the fixative you used
Your teaching is so exact thank you ma'am.Can ethanol and glycerine be used?
Can you add hydrosols to this recipe?
Thank you so much sunshine for this video very helpful, but I need help on how to measure with the scale I seems to get it wrong can you do a video on how to use the scale showing the scale numbers
Hello, I was wondering if i could use the fragrance oils available on your website to make a perfume for myself, and if so would you recommend using a fixative for say a fruit loops perfume?
Thank you so much for the information! ❤ May I ask how long do you let your perfume macreate?
You are welcome! I let them sit for about 24 hours before judging the final scent. I find after 24 hours it pretty much stays the same.
Its helpful video !!! I have a question how we can calculate if we dont know the grams but we know the ml of bottle?
@@aggelikiklapa2358 I will usually estimate this by taking an empty bottle and placing it on the scale taring it out then I put water in the bottle and weigh it in grams that will give you a very good approximation of how much the bottle holds in grams.
@@SunshineSoapandCandleCompany thank you very much 🥰🥰🥰
Good information
How much use/percentage perfume ingredient
For example:
Essential oil
Ingredients/chemicals
Fixative
Alcohol
One more question I mixed essential oil and alcohol but the oil comes on top of the alcohol what is the reason?
Pls advice
You need a solvent like Isopropyl Myristate to make oil and water come togethe.
Where can i buy that 36 peice essential oil kit you mentiined?
Essential oils plus fixitive plus pwrfumers alcohot. Thats the way?
Very nice ! Thank you for sharing 💕
Thank you, question plz
the perfume fixative helps to make the perfume stay longer, is there anything else do the same?
Yes!!!
To skip fixative, add more concentrated fragrance oil to your perfume.
What are the differences in top, middle, & base? Also where can you research skin safe percentages to know how much of what to use? I heard you mention in the video some fragrances may only take 1%.
I know you've probably learned this but just in case, top notes are usually just notes or accords that evaporate the fastest, these are usually floral and aldehydes and fruit notes, they are the first thing you smell and the first too leave. Middle notes are the second longest lasting, these are your notes that can last a little longer before evaporating, and base are the notes that will last the longest. You really don't need to focus on the T,M, B aspect though because all of the notes will blend together and you can basically use any notes and accords wherever you want them. You can make a perfume with just vanilla, Amber and sandalwood. All of those are usually base notes but you could put them in any order and they would still do the same thing. Also IFRA website is a good place to start for information about safety, you put in the essential oil and it tells you how much you should be using. For fragrance oils on the site you buy them at, usually after the description of the scent it will tell you how much they recommend you using in different forms, it's different for whatever your making, candles, hair and body can take different percentages. Hope that helps!
You can put in the oil name and type in “good scents company” after. It gives you all the data, and the percentages are down there if you scroll down a bit.
The IFRA is hard to find some things. They list the chemical name and or the individual chemicals in the naturals for some things.
I meant to say type in using any search engine ,google etc. when using good scents company. For some reason site doesn’t give you results if you use site alone to search.
I was looking high and low and your video saved me!!.
thank you so much
I am trying to make a 10ml perfume oil of gourmand notes I enjoy in fragrances.
Would I do 10ml/g times 0.30 which = 3ml/g
if so, i would just add that percentage (3) into the perfume?
Good day how do you make perfume from leaves in my garden and to let it last longer
Thanks for breaking down the math! 😂
Is the fireside a perfume oil ?
What would be the shelf life of this perfume?
Thanks for the video I've heard add some distilled water how much would that be
@@AlCologne in this type of formula you would not add any water. The perfumers alcohol is the solvent for the fragrance or essential oil.
@SunshineSoapandCandleCompany thank you I was going to order imagination oil to make a inspired by for my self so I was wondering about the water but thank for responding
Why we used fixative.? What i used for long lasting
Excellent video ❤
I’m any question…to add enhancer need to follow the top note or main accord?
Thank You so much
If different liquids have different masses how were you able to figure your containers gram limit beforehand?
It is a bit of an estimate. I usually place my container on the scale, tare it out, then fill it with water to weigh how much liquid it will hold. This is obviously not exact but it gives me a very good starting point.
@@SunshineSoapandCandleCompany okay thank you!!! Amazing video
@@Stingler23 thank you
Can that fixative be added to Body Spray base?
Thank very much for sharing God bless you
wow! thank you. this is what i was looking for
Mam please upload EDP formula
Example of an EDP formula:
20% fragrance oil
80% Ethanol 99% alcohol
In case of no alcohol
20% fragrance Oil
60% procent Carrier Oil
20% Dgp. Remember the more you add dgp the more it the scent becomes a water
Hey what kind of oil do recommend in stead of the alcohol?
@@LM3_150 fractionated coconut oil works really well for perfume. It absorbs nicely and it has an indefinite shelf life.
@@SunshineSoapandCandleCompany ok thank you ! I got what I needed but how do I make the scent last longer and increases the projection? I have a kit if it doesn’t last as long as my other colognes and isn’t as strong either.
Amazing video 🫶‼️
Thank you 🤗
What’s the difference between essential oils and fragrance oils when making perfume?
Essential oils are natural oils extracted from plants while fragrance oils are synthetic oils made to mimic specific scents.
When making a perfume fragrance oils are beat choice, since these scenta are lasting longer
What material i used for long lasting i want 24 hours
Do you need fixative?
No you don’t need to use one
Do you increase the fragrance if you don't use the fixative?
Yes, just add more concentrated fragrance oil in order to skip fixative to your perfume
Hi, before you used Voyageur perfumer's base. Is that no longer good to use? Can you use that perfume base in place?
Hi! Yes you can use the voyagebase in place of the Makesy one! I still like that one a lot and it sticks to the skin well!
Hi, would Everclear grain alcohol work in place of the Perfumers alcohol?
Hi there, yes it can work but the Everclear would need to be highest proof you can find like 190 proof to properly solubilize your oils, otherwise you will get a mixture that is not homogeneous. I find the perfume bases have excellent solubility. Also, alcohol has a smell to it that does come through in your finished product, in my opinion. Lots of people don't have this issue though.
Thank you so much for replying.@@SunshineSoapandCandleCompany
Can you please tell me that product name marshmallow
Very informative video I am from Pakistan please till me how can I purchase fregerences from you in pakistan
Why did you have some perfume left over in the beaker jar ???
This is because I measured in weight, not volume. Oils come in different densities so they can be the same weight with a different volume. Hope that makes sense it can be confusing. When making cosmetics I always weigh in grams.
does using more than 5%-10% fixative or using 35%~ 40% fragrance oil not safe for skin or the smell end up being too strong and off putting
the fixative and the fragrance used will have their own specific usage rates. Some fragrances are up to 100% safe if applied to skin directly while others have a low usage rate like 1%. It really depends on what fragrance you are using. If you are using one with a high usage rate, you could use 40% if you like. It is important to follow usage rates as these are safety ratings, you don't want to go over maximum usage rates.
Can someone tell me what it would be if it’s 50 ml having a hard time understanding 😫
50 ml = 50 grams
Not sure if you already got your answer….Google has a conversion chart if you type what 20% of 50 grams is will give you your answer until you understand how to do the math yourself. Or converting ml to oz. Anytime you have this question just type convert 1b to oz or what whatever you need to know
For anyone reading logos 9m later 😁. Alcohol will weigh 20% less than water. So your scale would read about 40mg if you filled a 50ml bottle. When you do your math do it by how much the scale reads when you fill the bottle full with alcohol like she did.
Depending on your formula and concentration, it might weigh a bit more.
She was most likely using a 40ml bottle. Which would weigh 32g With the high concentration and fixatives it added about 2 grams of weight.
What is fixative
It's supposed to be a chemical that makes the perfume smell stay on
Galoxlide
Iso e super
Hedione
DPG...etc.....
Hi
❤❤❤❤❤❤I loved vedeo
What happens if you have flouting oils in you you’re fragrance
You have either added to much fragrance to your base or you are trying to combine oil and water based ingredients together without the use of a solubilizer like polysorbate 80
Hi! Is Dpg and distilled water optional in making edp or edt? Thank you so much😊
❤❤❤
where did you get the perfume bottles? what size label did you use?
got those bottles on amazon. The labels are from onlinelabels.com
Just being curious... Which one of your perfume formulas is your favorite?
I really like the vanilla lace and pearls dupe. It’s really my favorite. I also like the one I created using the Makesy kit
@@SunshineSoapandCandleCompany thank you for the reply
You don’t age your perfume?
Don't we have to keep it aside for some days to mature. I am new....seen in many videos.
Using grams instead of milliliters while using liquids is really throwing me off.
Lol it's actually the same
Very lengthy and hard to understand
Well this bottle it doesn't take 34 grams of liquid volume or your scale is broken 😂
Pretty sure that’s a 10-15ml bottle 😂
Looks like a 40ml to me. 34grams would be about right with 70% alcohol.
Can u diy EDT perfume thanks
That sounds like a good idea!
