Honda Odyssey 2004 EX, same problem of temperature not regulating correctly. Removed the Air Mix Motor Assembly (also called the Air Blend Door Actuator) as described here, cleaned off the contacts and carbon track wheel, regreased with grease blobs from inside the unit, and reinstalled. Problem fixed. A few hints. (1) The screw heads can be turned using a 9/32" socket, which is easier than a phillips-head screwdriver. I used a 9/32" socket on a 1/4-inch socket wrench and handle. (2) Bring a pillow/headrest for working under the dash so you can rest your neck from time to time. (3) To open the box without breaking any of the tabs, insert toothpicks under the tabs. If you need to replace the part, I think that the correct Honda part number is "79160-S0X-A01 Air Mix Motor Assembly". On my car the original part is a DENSO AW063700-8160.
Really hope this works as I have a 2004 Honda Odyssey and it blows all hot all year long in every position... And then somebody showed me how you could get down on the floor and flip a switch on that device you're holding and make it be all cold... So if you don't mind bending yourself into a pretzel upside down twice a year you can make this work without replacing it.. however I want to sell my 2004 Honda ASAP because I'm two cars later already and it's a really good car!
....... perfect fix for my issue! $26 china part! And the mechanic wanted $620 to repair the "blend door"! (parts & labor) You KNOW America has issues when that much diff in repair cost! SAD!
Thank you I have the 2002 Odyssey I think it's stuck right about in the middle. My heat is only medium. I flushed out the heater core but nothing improved. Normally swapping the hoses on the heater core I've had great results but not this time.
This video is about locks but the rods connect the same as they do on the AC actuator. Maybe it will make things more clear. th-cam.com/video/j2Gt7s-nLic/w-d-xo.html
Thanks a lot Lee. It's good to hear. My hope is that even if people can't work on their own cars they can at least be able to tell of the mechanic is honest or not.
I replaced the mixing valve actuator. Got flow change from dash to feet. My problem is my 03 Odyssey doesn't know whether to blow hot or cold air. One day hot...next day cold. Any suggestions from anyone?
Well, I knew the heat was working. I knew the AC compressor clutch was kicking in and out. I knew both fans came on when I set the AC to cold. But I was not getting any cold blowing out of the vents. Only hot. So that told me to look at the mixing valve actuator. One of the easier things to replace in this system.

Good stuff.
Perfect. Exactly what was wrong! Easy fix. Super cold air now! Thank you!
Glad it helped!
Your video just solved my problem! That little pin going in the slot is crucial!
Yea, thanks to Honda for not making us take the entire dash apart to fix these.
Excellent video - well documented and explained. This the perfect fix for my '03 Odyssey. Thank you!
Fantastic! I'm glad it helped. I have to do this job on my kids Mitsubishi before winter. Its a lot harder than the Honda.

I bet this would fix it.

So glad it helped! $620 is a crazy mark up if you ask me. I just had a guy install a transmission for $600.
thank you so much.
Always welcome

Just like that. Thanks, sir
You are welcome
Sure would be nice to see how to pull that rod out. Do you pull down on the rod or what

Badass!!@@tinawoodell1957 Just in time for summer.
@clintsearcy3252 I'm 66 and I'm so proud of myself for fixing it. Thank you!😘
Thanks for the vid. I feel like a little less of a slave to the mechanic with every one.

The actuator in the video should be the mixing valve from how to cold. Turn the knob back and forth while watching it and see if anything changes.
How do you know that *this* is the problem???
