Just saved a lot of money and made me look like a hero at home. Thanks for sharing. I did the top one (closer to the roof) to fix vent/defrost/floor direction motor. In this case you need to ensure the two handles fall back into track. You can do this with your hand while pressing the direction button. Also 7 long socket seems the best way to remove three screws after removing 3 “boxes” on top to clear way with a 10 socket. Also make sure you mark the position of the motor so you don’t put it back with inverted polarity.

Thank you for the additional info. My service manual calls it a "Front Mode Control Motor" which actuates the "Air Mix Door".
I'm going to go take mine apart now....

@@woodstockMaxQshould be very straight forward. I had to remove some things from the way to have some room. Also make sure you try it before screwing it back up there by connecting the cables and pressing the buttons.

      @@guillermomorbelli2005 Done! And..... it works!
I didn't have any issues. Just cleaned off the contacts and put it back together.
I do wonder about the grease though. Dielectric grease should be fine to have on the contacts. Mine was pretty dirty, so if it actually was electrical grease, then all that dirt must have made it conductive.
Thanks again for the info from OP and you!

One would think Honda and Denso would know this from the start. Our cousins, "down-under", fix, instead of replace, all the time. Entertaining and informative! Thanks!

Thank you for doing this video!
FYI - Nomenclature from my service manual:
The part you removed is called a "Driver's Air Mix"Control Motor".
The one above it is called a "Front Mode Control Motor".

In my personal experience, I recommend that you give it a light tap to unlock it, that worked for me.

Cleaning the contacts and resistive strip with Deoxit fixed mine right up. Thanks for the video!! Saved me a $100 part

Ugh! That is dialectic grease. It is supposed to be there. Also, the position of that white actuator arm are doesn't matter. Wiping the contact points removed some tarnish or debris that improved the electrical contacts.

    • @briondaniels8451
      @briondaniels8451 ปีที่แล้ว +8

Exactly!!! That is dielectric grease to prevent future oxidation. It is okay to remove it to clean any debris out, but it is wise to reapply a new layer of grease and you should be good to go.

Nice fix. I'd recommend a 7mm socket next time.

I used a 7 mm deep socket and it was a lot less of a hustle

I cut out some 3/8" square cardboard squares and threaded the screws thru the mounting hole into a hole in the cardboard to hold the screws in the holes.

That... was an ordeal. Get a 7mm swivel socket or 1/4" hex flex extension.
